I visited Java Earth Coffee with my friend on a Sunday afternoon. The street by the building was crowded, so we just parked a couple of blocks away & walked over. The cafe was crowded & had a line when we arrived. I ordered their #12 smoothie while my friend got their banana cream top matcha. I appreciated the lively atmosphere of the cafe, & loved that its location is only a short walk to the beach--my friend & I headed over to the beach with our drinks afterward. I enjoyed my smoothie, but I would most likely reconsider visiting again if there's a line. read more

My review is purely for 1 specific item as I don't drink coffee. However, coffee shops always have tasty breakfast items and I honestly think this is one of the best breakfast bites I've had in years. The place was super packed with a line out the door but service was relatively quick and the workers were all smiling. All the outdoor seats were taken, so they must have other awesome items to order and I would happily wait in line for the coconut square every single time. Small interior but kept clean and price is great. read more

The coffee was decent. I got a cappuccino that was very foamy on top, so I'll get the latte next time for more blended/integrated taste profile. Tons of seating outside. Tables inside fill up fast which is the main downside. read more

Love this place, such a cute local spot. The place is very bright with lots of windows giving plenty of natural light and they have a decent amount of seating (inside and outside). The service is amazing and the coffee is amazing. I got a Cali bowl and a regular latte. I wish there was some seasoning on the bowl, however, I added my own salt and pepper which definitely elevated the bowl. The latte was amazing and the staff was super sweet. read more

the vanilla latte was very very sweet but the cookie butter latte was surprisingly less sweet compared to it. they also had a larger size for the drinks and food too. expect a wait on the weekends but it moved fairly quickly read more

A bustling place in the morning! We ordered: - banana cream top matcha: this was INSANE because you could get the banana flavor but it wasn't too sweet and neither was the matcha but it wasn't bitter either - green smoothie and caramel latte: standard and good - breakfast burrito: definitely add bacon and ask for extra salsa for a stick-to-your-ribs meal - lox bagel: good with extra veggies like pickled onions and cucumber but the bagel tasted a bit doughy/undercooked. Maybe toasting it would be better? - Mediterranean breakfast sandwhich: not for the weak with its pesto and olive combo but perfecto for us brine-y addicts. Same issue with bagel itself though. - coconut magic bar: dense and classic and yummy. While you're here, check out the shop next door that sells artisanal locally made gifts like art and jewelry and pottery. Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating. Very busy on weekend morning though so unlikely to grab a table especially for large groups - limited street parking nearby read more

Dropped by with a friend while on a walk down Cass. The place was busy and we were lucky to grab a table because someone was getting up. It looks like people stay and sit so seats are hard to come by. Once inside it's calm and cute. Ladies behind the counter are sweet. Good choices on the menu. There was no line dispute it being so busy outside. Coffee was ok. Not strong and nothing out of the ordinary. I usually have the lavender coffee and it is good, just a bit sweet. I wasn't wanting anything sweet today so just had plain coffee and that's what it was, plain. Pastries liked great but didn't try any, maybe next time. read more

I got the brown sugar iced latte! It was great, I really enjoyed it. My friends got the matcha, which was also good, but we collectively agreed their coffee was better. I also got their banana bread because I saw some reviews raving about it. It was good, definitely more "cakey" than a traditional banana bread. Super cute shop with good seating and quick service. Overall a 7/10 and cute place to stop by for a weekend coffee :) read more

Took over thirty minutes to get two matchas. I understand how busy it can get on a Friday morning but still. The baristas were just chit chatting amongst themselves without a care in the world of the overflowing line of drink they had to make. The matcha itself was mediocre, nothing special and lacking in flavor. I got the strawberry matcha and didn't taste any strawberry whatsoever. My cousin got the banana cream matcha and that too just tasted super artificial. We also got the breakfast burrito and that was the only thing to come out fast from the kitchen. It was ok but I didn't understand why you had to choose between sausage, bacon, or avocado. I feel like the avocado should be included and u choose what meat you want instead of having to choose between the three. The cafe is a cute aesthetic little shop with ample seating but the overpriced drinks and clearly undertrained baristas makes me not want to come here again. Do better! read more

I don't really leave yelp reviews ever but I have to leave one for my favorite coffee shop in san diego! The workers on saturday mornings are always so friendly and welcoming despite putting up with a massive flow of people. This was a really cute spot to work remotely at. A good amount of seating outside and WiFi available. Really impressed with the socal burrito! The salsa was just how I like - fresh tasting without any chipotle flavor and a bit of a kick. The eggs inside were nice and fluffy. Might be one of my favorite breakfast burritos in pb! read more

Plenty of street/residential parking in the area. It's pretty crowded and popular in the area. This cafe is super cute! Seats available both inside and outside. Their pastries are pretty good too! Food and drink review: Matcha chai latte: (5/5) This was the first time I've tried this combo in a drink and I was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious! Such rich, but distinct flavors. Also, it's made with almond milk already for those who didn't know that (me lol). Pop tart: (3/5) It was intriguing since we all love pop tarts; however, it looked better than it tasted. I wouldn't order it again. Lox bagel: (5/5) My friend devoured it. It's a great portion and good flavor. Classic breakfast sandwich: (3.5/5) Pretty simple, but had good flavor. It was a good portion. This spot has been on my list for some time and I'm so glad to finally try it this morning! It's on a relatively busy corner with only street parking but seems like a great spot to hang out and get some work done as that's what most people were doing. The menu had plenty of options for breakfast and lunch and today I went with the pistachio latte which was sooo good! The espresso was very yummy and the pistachio milk added the perfect nutty flavor to balance it out Will definitely check this place out again and bring my laptop next time for the perfect beachside study spot! read more

Java Earth is a cute cafe located on Cass St with a good amount of outdoor seating and a bright, airy vibe inside. They've started serving Paru matcha which is what made me want to try and it did not disappoint! I got the classic matcha with pistachio milk (extra $0.75) and the pistachio flavor came through. My friend got their earl grey matcha special and I loved that one, the flavor wasn't too overpowering but perfectly aromatic. The real star of the show was the sunrise breakfast sandwich that we split. The aioli was really good, bagel was nice and salty, and the sausage patty was very flavorful. For a Sunday morning, the service was pretty fast and there was only a short line. I will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely loved Java earth! The matcha was phenomenal! My boyfriend really enjoyed his cold brew with foam! I was happy that they were so nice and positive when I ordered a salad at 9am! I'm not a big breakfast person but this salad was INCREDIBLE. my boyfriend really enjoyed his breakfast sandwich too! Super friendly staff and great service! Loved sitting on the patio to enjoy. Long line but it moved quickly. It was busy in there so more of a coffee shop to eat and relax and not sit and do computer work. The drink pick-up system could use improvement... they just put it there and call out your drink so you have to keep an eye out and someone can easily take your drink. An order number or a name would be helpful for that. One restroom available and indoor and outdoor seating on the sidewalk next to a slightly busy road. Matcha latte wasn't bad nor amazing but it was pretty good. Not too sweet so you can add more if you'd want. The soy chorizo bowl a breakfast item was good! Tasted like real eggs and fresh ingredients. Price wasn't too bad. read more

I love this place. The staff are super attentive, and really try to get food and coffee out as quickly as possible. But this doesn't sacrifice their quality. I personally love the mint iced coffee, lox bagel and all of their sandwiches. Their food and coffee is super well priced for quality and quantity, I never feel like I've been skimped on either. The place itself is also super cute, I often come here to do work or meet a friend. And it's perfect, there are not only enough chairs and tables, but also enough outlets. I could not recommend both locations enough. read more

I asked for a decaf Americano because they didn't have any drip decaf available. After a 20 minute wait the barista went over to a big pot of drip coffee and filled up my coffee cup. I'm not sure if it's decaf or real it certainly isn't an Americano!! Very very disappointed!! read more

Came here for the first time the other day. I was impressed! For the price point, the quality of the food is excellent, especially when you compare it to other cafés and the area. The strawberry match was a standout with homemade strawberry purée. matcha is a very popular drink nowadays, but most places don't do it right and use a cheap powder that's mostly sugar. Java Earth uses ceremonial grade matcha and you can taste the difference. I liked my soyrizo bowl a lot. The eggs were fluffy and the avocado abundant. It came with a side of warm tortillas. Be sure to ask for Tapatio if you like spicy. The cafe itself is super cute and clean love sitting on the outdoor space. They have a nice set up with some umbrellas for shade. The service was pretty quick and friendly. Excited to go back and try more things! The pastries looked delish! read more

What a cool spot Java Earth Coffee is! I popped in for a quick treat-yo-self visit after having gotten a tattoo right around the corner (which by the way - if you're looking for a great tattoo shop, check out Bay Ink Tattoo and the Yelp review I wrote for it!) I loved the decor and interior of the space; simple, modern, open, spacious, and minimalist with great daylight. There was also ample seating - both indoor and outdoor. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful when it came to asking questions about the menu and ordering. There was a good variety of unique drinks on the menu, to which I ended up ordering the iced pistachio latte. Had I been hungry, I would've also ordered some bites - specifically the lox bagel (What can I say? I'm a sucker for a well-crafted lox bagel! I ought to start a series here on Yelp exploring ALL the places in SD and rating all the lox I eat. Pinning that idea for later!) The pistachio latte was pretty good, however, I definitely want to give the honey vanilla latte a try next time. That's certainly more up my latte-drinking alley. Overall, I had a 10/10 experience at Java Earth and am looking forward to vistiing again soon and trying more menu items. Highly recommend this spot to locals and travelers alike! read more

I finally got a chance to check out Java Earth this past weekend. I was running with PBRC . After our 3 mile run, we all met up here. I ordered breakfast burrito and brown sugar latte . it was delicious. This place was super busy. It was a place to be on a Saturday morning. The ambience was quite loud only because it was so busy on a Saturday morning. however, I feel like the ambience would be quiet during the week. A good spot to get caught up on your work. someone gave the tip if you order online . They're much more efficient. After I sent through my order online, it took about 10 minutes or so to prepare. I'll be looking forward to my next visit. read more

Great ambience inside, but it gets crowded on weekends, so I'd suggest visiting on a weekday if you can. The café is in a whitewashed wooden sea-home, which felt a bit cramped when full, but at 11 a.m. there was still plenty of seating available. Parking can be tricky, though I lucked out with a spot nearby. I ordered a Maple Oat Latte to-go -- solid flavor, though the steamed oat milk was a bit too hot. The maple leaned on the sweeter side, with less cinnamon than some other spots. read more

They also have a breakfast sandwich called the San Diego which is a favorite of several people I know. You chose the bagel you want it with and they add fried eggs, bacon, cheese and aioli. I highly reccomend it. I've not had a lot of their deinis, but i did order the cinna-bee which has honey, cinnamon, espresso and milk. I thought it was good and would order it again. We went back multiple times, and the consistency was impressive. My go-to was an iced "Basic Sitch" with oat milk, while my husband loved the warm "Cinna-bee." Both were incredible. The espresso quality was top-tier, and the drinks were made quickly without sacrificing flavor. Our only regret? Discovering this place halfway through the trip. Had we found it sooner, we would've been there every single day. This review is solely based on the coffee, as we didn't get a chance to try their breakfast sandwiches, though the options looked appetizing. This month nothing really called my name but they did have a weekend special that really appealed to me. I have had some of their bagel style sandwiches before and ohhhh goodness they are good. This time it was my favorite style of sandwich, a bahn mi. I had high hopes because of the picture they posted on their social media and just the level of creativity they usually bring. Considering it's North Park, I knew ordering online would be the best option and picking up. My estimated time was 15-20 minutes but it only took them under 10. I got an order ready notification before I even left the house. I got there and it was dead, maybe one other person in and out. There's a lot of seating inside and some outside on their patio. They also have different counters for ordering and pick up which helps speed things up. My experience with service was very transactional, nothing bad just nothing to really highlight. Let's talk about this bahn mi. It's promoted as marinated and charred pork shoulder, house made sweet aioli, nuoc cham compound butter, pickled carrot and daikon, mint, cilantro, and jalapeño on a locally sourced Paris baguette. First off, nuoc cham compound butter?? YES. That is the kind of creativity I love to see. I got my sandwich and the wrapper was pretty oily so the sandwich itself looked kind of glossy. The whole thing felt a little rushed, like everything was just thrown on. I will say I wasn't expecting a generous amount of meat but they delivered in that aspect. I first wanted to try the compound butter on its own and it had a slight nuoc cham flavor, but in the sandwich it didn't really stand out past all the bolder flavors. Now if you've seen my other reviews, the best part of a bahn mi to me is the pickled daikon and carrots. These might be the best I have ever had anywhere. They are exactly how I prefer them, sweet with a slight acidity and THICK CUT. The crunch on these... please let me buy a whole jar. The bread was alright, they mention they source it locally so it's not made in house, but mine leaned a little old and I could tell through the texture. The pork was marinated really well, I do wish some of the pieces were more charred because you could see where some of it didn't hit direct flame. This also came with a side of what tasted like a hoisin vinaigrette. I liked the creativity but felt like the sandwich didn't need it. It was way too acidic and strong and there's not much need for that sharp vinegar hit here. I paired my bahn mi with a miso caramel matcha latte. This was expensive, a 12oz for $8 is steep even for matcha. It was good but not amazing. It leans more sweet than matcha forward. The miso caramel actually surprised me though. At other cafes it usually comes off more like a salted caramel, but here it had more depth, slightly savory, and when mixed with the milk it came out really creamy and smooth. The matcha was a little grainy though. Overall I will definitely be back and will keep my eye out for more specials because that's where they really shine. And seriously, if they ever let me buy those pickled carrots and daikon by the jar, I'm there immediately.
