I asked for a decaf Americano because they didn't have any drip decaf available. After a 20 minute wait the barista went over to a big pot of drip coffee and filled up my coffee cup. I'm not sure if it's decaf or real it certainly isn't an Americano!! Very very disappointed!! read more

Great ambience inside, but it gets crowded on weekends, so I'd suggest visiting on a weekday if you can. The café is in a whitewashed wooden sea-home, which felt a bit cramped when full, but at 11 a.m. there was still plenty of seating available. Parking can be tricky, though I lucked out with a spot nearby. I ordered a Maple Oat Latte to-go -- solid flavor, though the steamed oat milk was a bit too hot. I came here on a Friday afternoon, and the place was not too packed. There is a lot of outdoor seating divided by the sidewalk with around 10 tables and a long table with 4 chairs. There is inside seating too with several tables. This place is super dog-friendly! I got the turkey sandwich with no avocado, no mustard, and added bacon instead. For my drink, I got the hot earl grey tea with 2% milk and agave. The sandwich is a cold sandwich on sourdough bread and tasted great. The employees are super sweet and kind. Jessica was helpful with my decision on what to get. Usually, I feel kind of rushed when I don't know what I want and just stand there, but Jessica made me feel the opposite with her hospitality. Overall, great coffee shop, and would definitely come here again. They do offer free wifi, but I found it a little bit slow and ended up using my own hotspot. read more

While waiting for our food at Clay Oven next door, we stumbled upon this cute cafe and decided to try it out. The service was decent. I asked about the matcha, and the cashier kindly gave me a sample of their happy matcha. It was fine, but from the color I could tell it wasn't ceremonial grade. I still decided to try their strawberry matcha because I just needed a drink, and it was terrible. The staff claimed it was ceremonial grade matcha, but it clearly wasn't from the color and taste. Ceremonial has a very vibrant green as opposed to dull and dark green, and their oat milk was not great either. I couldn't tell which brand it was, but probably not one of the top brands. The store uses cheap ingredients but still charges very high prices. Won't be coming back. read more

Generally when I come, the staff is all talking to each other, ignoring me as I'm waiting to order and it seems like an inconvenience when I place an order. When they notice I'm there (once they have finished their conversation with their coworker) they just stare at me. No hi, what can I get you, it's really odd. I prefer ordering online now, but half the time I see my drink sitting there just waiting for ice to be put in it as the staff is chatting. I absolutely love their drinks and the place itself is adorable, unfortunately their service takes away from both. I have spent a lot of money at this place because I can't seem to find any other coffee shop that makes drinks like they do but almost every time I experience the same disappointing service. The last two visits, when I walked up to the register to order, the girls working were having a full on conversation and did not acknowledge me standing there, no greetings, no nothing. One worker who is blonde and has a tattoo on her arm is one of the most unwelcoming workers I have ever experienced which is surprising for a popular coffee shop in pb. What's important for me in any coffee shop are the beverages and food. Ambiance and location are subjects for discussion, everyone likes different things. Java Earth offers a very good selection of breakfast staples, like sandwiches, burritos, bagels and toasts. Great coffee place in PB! Came here for the first time yesterday post run club and was just planning on grabbing a coffee but then saw these guys eating a breakfast burrito outside that looked really good so decided to try one (I normally don't grab food from coffee shops, and normally don't feel too hungry in the morning but I was feeling it yesterday!). I don't have super high hopes for coffee shop food, and especially not breakfast burritos, but I was very pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed my burrito and the salsa that came with it was really good. The tortilla was the perfect balance of crispy and chewy. I asked for no bacon and got to choose avo/turkey instead and went with avo. I also wanted an iced latte and had a hard time deciding which one to get! They have quite a few different latte options and I was thinking of trying the pistachio latte as that looked more unique, but it was a bit more than I felt like paying on top of my burrito (It's over $7) so I went with the basic vanilla honey latte. Am I the only one who thinks this place is overrated? I live within eyesight of Java Earth and every morning there is a line out the door. I have gone about 5x since moving here and all I have gotten is rude service (every single time), the coffee is mediocre at best. TBH if the service wasn't so bad I'd still drink the mediocre coffee as it is a fun menu, decent food, and conveniently located to me. Java Earth is a great mainstay for takeaway breakfast. We routinely swing by after a walk in the Pacific Beach neighborhood. They have good coffee and hearty portions that are very vegetarian friendly. The food travels well as well! Friendly service and beachside casual ambiance top it off. There is a reason bakeries only sell same day croissant (or discount them by 50% if they have leftover from the day before...) - coffee bean package has no mention of weight which is very odd, (and also against the FPLA requirement). When I buy a bag of coffee, i d like to know what is the weight of the package... They took our order, I wanted a decaf maple oat milk latte and my partner wanted a vanilla oat milk latte. He's allergic to nuts so he let them know about his allergy. When they delivered our drinks (they gave me my drink but with caffeine even though I ordered it decaf) they re made it but weren't friendly. For my partner, when they gave him his drink they basically said something along the lines of "we cannot do this again, maybe get something iced next time". Which was ridiculous considering we've been to many coffee places before and they have been very understanding and friendly.
