Pump Coffee is such a cute little spot in PB with a great selection of specialty lattes! I got the honey cinnamon latte, and it was really good. The coffee quality was great and the flavor wasn't overpowering, which is exactly how I like it. I've also had their hot version before and loved that too! They have really cute indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff were super sweet, friendly, and accommodating. Parking is easy for a quick stop - the strip mall lot is free for the first 45 minutes, but you'll have to pay if you stay longer, which is something to keep in mind if you want to work from here. Definitely stopping by again! read more

We stayed in Mission Beach, but I walked here every day to pick up coffee. I prefer to support local coffee shops (non chains) that have a selection of espresso beverages. I unfortunately loved the honey cinnamon latte so much that I never tried anything else. Hubs had the dirty chai latte every day. Their ham and cheese croissant is great! Regular croissant is skippable and so is the chocolate one. The vegan desserts are actually pretty good. At least the blueberry muffin that we had was excellent. The crumb was blue, not fake blue, but like they had mixed crushed or blueberry juice with the dough. read more

I feel badly for this review but not bad enough not to write it because people should know what they're getting into here. I came here because I had been given recommendations to try this place. First things first, before grabbing a coffee I asked to use their restroom. The woman working behind the counter handed me an espresso handle with a key attached and gave me directions for how to get to the bathroom. I couldn't believe they didn't have one in their shop, I thought all businesses that served food and drink had to have a bathroom but as I spent more and more time in California I realized this was not the case. So the bathroom was down the street, past a gym, up three stair cases and down the balcony, down a hall, the entire ordeal took 15 minutes getting there and back, it was honestly insane. When I got back there was a guy in the same boat as me, he was given the key and he came back 10 minutes later and said he couldn't find the bathroom and that it was too complicated. And he's right - it was. If it wasn't an emergency I would have given up all together. I grabbed a drip coffee and took a seat in the back and every second the ceiling and coffee shop would shake with a loud boom. I couldn't understand what was happening until I realized we were underneath a gym. Clearly the area with the weights and all you heard were people dropping dumbbells on the ground and subsequent shakes and bangs on the ceiling of this shop. It was honestly, terrible. I would not come back here because of that. It would be impossible to study or get work done. I guess that's why it's called Pump? read more

This small and mighty espresso bar in Pacific Beach slays!!! From the minute you enter the baristas greet you with warmth and are ready to serve! Their beans are fire; flavorful and roasted to perfection. You can sit and sip there or walk it to the boardwalk or the beach! I had such a good time that I am going back with a friend tomorrow! See you there! They have a free parking lot too! read more

Drinks were not that good. Banana matcha was very bland and artificial with nothing special. There's many other places where you could get a better one. The rose lavender latte was really sweet and watery, so overall not worth. read more

We come to PB once a year around the holidays, and love trying new places. We are often looking for new places to grab a drink, or have coffee in the morning. We try to stay away from S-Bux in favor of trying and supporting the local spots! This is actually the second year in a row that we've come to Pump. We first discovered it last year during a combination of Yelp searches, and a little A-Frame sign they have along the boardwalk. The reviews were mostly all good, and we quickly understood why. LOCATION & INSIDE: Located in a little outdoor shopping center, the inside itself is pretty small. Amongst different areas, there is room for around a dozen or less people to sit inside. They have a little space against the wall across from the counter where they sell shirts and other items such as travel mugs, glass sippers, and mushroom coffee! There are a few additional tables out front, but I recommend taking your coffee down for a stroll along the beach if the weather permits. DRINKS: This is a pretty typical coffee shop in terms of offerings, with options including regular coffee, cold brew, pour-over, espresso, cappuccino, americano, latte, tea, tea latte, and hot chocolate. They have several options for most categories, including a Caramel Macchiato, (White) Mocha, and a Rose Lavender latte, to name a few. They also have seasonal drinks, which are currently a Tiramisu Cold Brew and a Peppermint White (Chocolate) Mocha. For tea lattes, they have items like a Chai Latte, Matcha Latte, and even a few variations of those. The first time we went (last year), we got hot drinks. This most recent time we went (a couple days ago) we went with iced lattes. The wifey ordered the Rose Lavender, and I got the French Vanilla latte. We both loved our drinks, and were very happy with our decisions. It's only a difference of $0.50 to go from small (12oz.) to large (16oz.) and +$1 to have an alternative milk. We love to use oat milk, as it helps create an extra creamy drink. While they don't typically have their own cold foam per-se, they were able to add some of the whipped mascarpone from the tiramisu latte on top. Honestly this was the perfect topper to an already incredibly creamy and delicious drink. They also added some dried rose petals to the lavender one, which was a nice aesthetic. FOOD: There are just a few options, including various croissants and vegan pastries. They don't have a full kitchen, so the stuff isn't freshly made in-house. For the animal friends in your life, they also offer a Puppaccino for $1! OVERALL: This is definitely a place worth stopping for some quality coffee. They generally have 2 people working, unless one's on break or something. The service is pretty casual, and can take a while if there's a line. They take an order, then make the drink. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, and this is definitely a place we have added to the rotation during our annual holiday trip! IG: @bbnem.eats read more

Don't get the matcha. Ordered a hot and iced matcha for me and my partner, both came back tasting like sour milk (we got 2%). My partners was extremely watered down. Super over priced. I rather spend my time on siting in the Starbucks drive thru if I want something terrible and over priced again. read more

The iced latte is ok. The boldness of the beans are not very strong. It honestly reminds me of Starbucks lattes. It leaves a gross acidic aftertaste. I had my iced latte with a pump of vanilla which in turn kind of made the coffee semi enjoyable to drink. Am I a coffee snob? No. Am I a coffee connoisseur? Yes. read more

Stopped by Pump Coffee in Pacific Beach and really liked the vibe. It's a cute little shop with warm decor, fun touches, and a cozy atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick. I tried the 16oz French Vanilla Latte -- the flavor was really good, though I wish it had been a bit hotter. Still enjoyed it overall! A nice spot to grab a coffee and chill for a bit. I'd definitely come back to try more drinks. read more

ICED MINT MATCHA WITH OAT MILK, 16OZ. YOU GOTTA GET IT. Need I say anything more?! This was my first time experiencing Pump Coffee and, admittedly, when I was giving the menu a gander, my brain had a hard time putting mint and matcha together. But after reading Yelp reviews that recommended the mint matcha, I had to get it. IT WAS SO TASTY Y'ALL!! The perfectly sweetened matcha and the touch of mint flavoring flowed so beautifully together. I loved how balanced this drink was. As most other folks already have, I MUST recommend this yummy beverage! Quick shout out to the friendly staff and to the fact that this is a woman-owned business. I LOVE supporting these kinds of spots. For the folks who are looking for a cafe to work remotely at, there are a few tables on the inside as well as bench seating on the outside. A great spot to check some emails and crank out an hour or two of work. Overall, I highly recommend this spot to both locals and travelers alike! read more

Pump Coffee wasn't originally on our list of stops for my bachelorette weekend but after a slight detour of plans, we decided to make a stop here for coffee. Small little spot with only a few tables & chairs indoors and outdoors. This is more of a grab n go kind of place. Between the five of us, we got some matcha lattes, iced jasmine green tea and lavender rose lattes. We were all pleasantly pleased with our drinks. The female cashier and baristas were all so sweet. They congratulated me plus left a nice message on my cup too. :) There's an underground parking garage conveniently located next to Pump Coffee and I believe they validate up to two hours. read more

Great service staff is amazing the tea was perfect and the location is the best in the world.

stood in line for about 10 min while the baristas talked and gossiped before I was even noticed. when I finally was able to order, I asked them to please remember to make it decaf. when I finally got my coffee, I asked once more to make sure it was decaf and the bursted out laughing. I ended up tossing the coffee. The location is great, the staff isn't. I honestly felt like I was back in highschool being bullied. i can't imagine an elder ordering with hearing issues!!! read more

I was really disappointed with the cold brew. I expected a smooth, rich, bold flavor, but instead it was extremely sour and tangy to the point that it honestly tasted under-extracted. It lacked the deep, balanced flavor most people associate with cold brew and instead had a sharp acidic taste that was hard to drink. I know some coffee shops prefer a brighter, fruit-forward style, but this tasted overwhelmingly sour rather than smooth or refreshing. Unfortunately it was one of the worst cold brews I've had and I would not order it again. read more

What a great little find when I was walking around Mission/Pacific Beach! I'm a huge walker and was in the need for caffeine... hello Pump Coffee! It's tucked away in a shopping center, so off the beach boardwalk section ((but a few doors down from such a fun rollerskating shop)). I came in about an hour before closing on a Saturday; while they were getting some of their closing tasks done, the two girls working were still friendly and attentive. They have a great tea selection; so happy to have found this spot. If it had been earlier in the day, I definitely would have stopped in for a second cuppa. If you're in the area and looking for caffeine, I highly recommend visit. 2025: 35/100 read more

Went to Pump Coffee while on vacation, six days in a row, while on vacation. Here is what I noticed. Killer pastry display. Only had them one out of six days, but the display was always fresh and had plenty of artisan items to choose from. Always two people on staff. Not always the same two, but everyone was very friendly and fairly fast. The place is small but inviting. Always a bunch of gym-bros from the gym upstairs, standing or sitting around, making the place feel even smaller......but they all seemed nice and not territorial of "their coffee shop". No locals only vibes given. Prices are fair and probably could be a little higher. Every small business deserves to charge enough to be able to keep the lights on. Only one small critique; Every morning I could tell which coffee was my wife's, without even looking at the to go cups. It was always the one that was overfilled with cream and would drip on my hand, all the wall back to the hotel. lol Consistency counts for something. read more

Service was excellent and attentive. The wait was reasonable. Cashier was accommodating to my almost 2 year old son and a bathroom need. Took home 2 cold brews and 2 packs of whole beans. Seating was spacious for a small space. Smooth and actually tasted like cold brew and not iced coffee that some coffee shops try and pass off as cold brew. Music reminded me of high school and early college. Nostalgic 2000s pop punk. Definitely will be back when I'm in town. read more

Delicious coffee! Great service. We went here during our stay in San Diego severe day !!

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in San Diego! High quality coffee, delicious pastries, and the service is great. I used to go to Starbucks and Better Buzz until I found this gem. I was walking the boardwalk when I saw multiple signs for Pump Coffee, the signage was beautifully made so I wasn't wary of going there. They have signs posted every 20 steps that lead you the way to the shop. There is a few outdoor seating and 4 tables inside. As well as three chairs at the back of the wall. The sun illuminates the menu nicely-- but as you get further into the shop it gets pretty dim even with the lighting overhead. The lights are warm colored which is great for ambiance, but very dim and small. Some of the walls are painted black-- along with the ceiling and the tables are black as well... this creates a feeling of an enclosed space. To match their signs, the place is black and white theme. I think it would be cool if they take from their website and incorporate colors that show: warmth, love, and gratitude. Anyways, onto the coffee. I ordered a 12 oz, iced honey cinnamon latte with whole milk. This costed $7! It's a bit steep in price, $1 more than other places for a specialty latte~ that's just something to note. Even though it was on the pricy side the latte was really good. Be sure to give it a mix or swirl yourself since the cinnamon floats to the top. Solid latte! The woman working here was really friendly and kind! She asked about my day, how it was going, and some other things. I thought it was nice of her to create a little bit of convo~ Great and fast service (: Overall, a great coffee shop to satisfy your coffee needs! :D they also have tea!! Recommend this spot! read more

The drink was alright. Ordered a watered down mint matcha. I got charged 50 cents more than the actual price and asked the barista about it. I told her what she charged me wasn't was on the board. Instead of saying she'll honor it or offering alternative for her mistake she just said she'll let her manager know about the "change of price." Idk how many times she's done this with other customers just to make alittle more money but I find it ridiculous. The WiFi also kept on going in and out too. Left a tip too which I regret with my total coming out to $10 for a below average matcha. read more

We walked by Pump and had to stop cause the menu looked good and had some different options like the mint matcha (which is what I ordered!). The service was incredible and welcoming - it's clear they care about their customers and make everyone feel acknowledged. Found this little coffee shop walking along the beach one morning - a tiny storefront, I wouldn't recommend planning to work here or anything like that. My boyfriend got a vanilla cold brew and I had a cold brew with Almond Milk & Pistachio - there are tons of fun flavors here! For only being a 2 person operation, they were timely with a busy morning of orders - the barista even let me just add my own amount of milk and taste along the way which I appreciated. Total for our coffees was about $12, which I felt was reasonable. read more

Stopped by here for a quick coffee and some food and stepped into a very busy cafe with a line almost out the door. The two women working were very quick and efficient and the line moved quickly. I ordered a pumpkin muffin and a cafe latte with 2% milk. The barista was also quick to make my beverage. Both the drink and muffin were fine and no complaints there. I wasn't asked if I wanted my muffin warmed up, which would have been nice. The wifi was also very quick and efficient. Note that this place is very tiny and when more than 10 people were in the space it got extremely loud, and therefore I would not recommend it as a place to try to get work done. There's also no bathroom in the coffee shop, but I believe the complex has a shared bathroom which I do not know the state of. read more
