Im slowly making my way through all the PB Coffee shops and this was next on the list. Its very close to the beach and it's a clean well lit little spot on the corner! I got the Mexican Mocha cold brew and it was smooth and flavorful. My only complaint is that the coffee is a little lack luster, not strong enough for me or even my partner who is usually sensitive to coffee. I first tried the imperial beach location when I met up with a friend for a bike ride but hit the PB location way more often out of convenience. It is a bit pricey, which is to be expected from a coffee shop in PB that is close to the beach, but it does lose a star to be because of the value and lack of a 20 oz option. Trident coffee is very cool. The ambience is fun and sea themed which makes it great for the influencer photo, however I was impressed with the menu. They offer signature Mexican and Vietnamese coffees along with mushroom, turmeric and charcoal options as well. I really enjoyed chatting with Sam number 7 as I saw him two days in a row and he had a great, casual, real person interaction that you don't get much anymore. Nice is good, kind is better. He was still friendly and good service which was fairly fast but I would say they need to get at least two people working on a Saturday. I got a honey lavender cold brew latte and it was delicious. This is one of the newer locations and is the 3rd location in San Diego - the other two are located in Coronado and Imperial Beach. This one is conveniently located a block from the Pacific Beach, perfect for a date or hangout to grab a coffee and walk along the beach and boardwalk. I got the Mexican Mocha which was not too sweet but did not taste watered down since there are evident notes of chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg in it. I got the 16oz which was about $7.09 which seems pricey but the quality is very high and there's no ice at all. Good value to have pure liquid filled to the top, but since it's hot, temperatures equalize quickly with the surroundings but that's something beyond the barista's control. I really enjoyed the coffee overall. If I come back, I definitely want to try their nitro cold brew flight for a nice variety. We were just in a rush so we decided to just get a regular drink, as the flight is most ideal if you dine in. read more

My friend came across a reel of this coffee shop on Instagram. The moment we saw that they had nitro cold brews on tap and offered flights, it wasn't even a question--we were in. Now, I'll go into a bit more detail on all that we got below, but I'll cut to the chase--we were quite disappointed with the drinks we had. They were all VERY watered down--even the specialty cold brews! Imagine having a cup of coffee and half of it is all ice and then all that ice melts... that's how all of our drinks tasted. It was almost like having coffee flavored water. What we tried: Nitro Cold Brews - we got two flights which allowed us to try every single one of their nitro cold brews. The best one of the bunch for us was called Son of a Son of a Sailor. It had the most coffee flavor and its aroma smelled so good. Our runners up were called Trident, Calm Under Pressure, and El Capitán. All of the cold brews had their own very distinct and heady aromas, which I loved. But the aromas were so much more potent than the flavors. Like they were all bark and no bite. Mexican Mocha - this one was... tolerable. I was so excited to try the Mexican Mocha because it's my first one. I was expecting it to be decadent and chocolatey, but unfortunately, all I got was a very watery mocha drink. Honey Lavender Latte - this one had the weirdest and most off putting aftertaste for me. It was also very heavy on the honey and barely had any lavender flavor--maybe all that honey just overpowered the lavender. I took a couple of sips of this one and I was done. Salted Caramel Mocha - probably the most normal tasting one out of the specialty cold brews we tried. It came with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and sprinkled with some black sea salt on top. Still very watered down, but tolerable enough to drink. Our specialty cold brews also tasted like they were made with sugar-free syrups. I'm not sure if this is the default for the drinks you get here, but it's not mentioned anywhere that this is what they use. I know some people prefer this--which is totally fine--but I'm personally not a huge fan of them, so I can easily tell if there's something sugar-free in my drink... and unfortunately, all of our specialty cold brews definitely had that distinct flavor and aftertaste to them. After my first visit to Trident, I already want to go back! First, the service was exceptional and the employees were so friendly and helpful. Second, the speciality selection of nitro cold brews is impressive! There were 8 different nitro cold brews available on tap. We got a flight of 4 nitro cold brews. We tried some of the most popular roasts and enjoyed all of them. They had light, medium, and dark roast options. The flight also comes with half and half or cream if you don't want to drink the nitro cold brew black. The nitro cold brews were all very smooth and easy to drink without any milk or cream added into them. This was a fun way to compare the flavors of the different roasts. We ended up getting their specialty cold brews to take on-the-go. We had their Mexican mocha cold brew and their salted caramel mocha cold brew. The Mexican mocha cold brew was not very sweet which I preferred. It had a coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon flavor. The salted caramel mocha cold brew was sweeter. Both were delicious! We also had their chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant was soft and flakey with a good amount of chocolate inside. There were protein donut options to choose from as well. The interior of Trident is beachy and has mermaid vibes. The colors are calming. The openness of the windows makes it filled with sunshine and it feels nice and bright. The whole coffee shop has the mermaid theme in an upscale vibe. Everything about our visit to Trident Coffee was excellent! We look forward to visiting next time we're in PB! read more
