Coffee Cycle Roasting was such a solid coffee stop! I got the lavender latte, a pastry, and the mushroom empanada, and everything was delicious. Their lavender syrup is made in-house, which made the latte taste extra special. The mushroom empanada came out hot and was so flavorful. The staff were friendly, there's a bathroom in the back, and I'll definitely be coming back. Street parking can be a little tricky, but sometimes you can get lucky and snag a spot right out front. Stopped by this cute coffee shop for the first time and was really impressed! They make all of their syrups in-house, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the interior has a fun, inviting vibe. Don't miss the breakfast empanadas--I had the bacon, egg, and cheese, and it came out hot, tasted homemade, and might be one of the best breakfast empanadas I've ever had. This small but mighty coffee place is such a vibe. The workers are all really nice too and friendly. Most importantly, it offers delicious coffee, the Cappuccino is my favorite, they always make it just perfect. Thank You. They sell these little empanadas that go well with your breakfast drink, the bacon and cheese is tasty. They also offer unique salsa's to compliment. This place is very down to earth and while you wait, they have small things you can buy, perhaps as a gift or for yourself. I have bought the soap, its handmade and smells divine. I live like 2 streets over and i drove by this place so many times before i tried it too... i really like supporting mom and pop privately owned businesses, they need our support, it is important to shop local and shop small. read more

Coffee Cycle is superb! While we frequent the OB location more often, the OG PB location is easy to get to. It's small, but they carry the same great coffee. Although I'm not a coffee drinker, my husband is and these beans are his favorite. We've gone all around San Diego searching for the best beans and these are consistently the best ones. If you bring back the tin after you finish, they'll give you a dollar off your next tin. While I don't drink coffee, I'm always on the prowl for a great matcha. Coffee Cycle has an EXCELLENT one. Great quality matcha (super rich green color) and it's absolutely delicious. I love that the people that work at this place are always so friendly and they'll make customizations to make sure you get exactly what you like. Quick and friendly service. Ordered an iced latte with extra shot of espresso (so total of 4 shots) and it was good. Also got an almond croissant which was tasty, wish they would have heated it up though. It was spacious inside with lots of seating options, whether you wanted to sit in a more intimate secluded area, in a bigger table to share with others, or even patio seating booth with shade or no shade. We recently found Coffee Cycle and brought my in-laws to try some fresh coffee. My husband and in-laws enjoyed the lattes they had and I ordered a tea latte with their house made lavender syrup. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I don't drink coffee, so I asked (the owner) what teas he recommended and he mentioned that they're also known for their teas and had different house made syrups to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed my tea latte. The shop itself is small with the "cart"on one side and a couple bar stools inside where the merchandise is. There are tables outside where you can sit and wait for your drink after ordering. Overall, service is excellent and the drinks were tasty. Solid cups too! Upgraded the rating because I keep going back since the coffee is that good. They know not to make it too hot because that is what keeps the milk sweet and you have a non-bitter latte which does not need any sugar. The staff is friendly, but you have got to be patient. Be prepared to wait. Good things take time. (loss of 1/2 star for the long wait) Seating is very limited - almost non-existent. There are about 4 little tables on the sidewalk, so you might not get a spot to sit. It is not the type of place you go to work. There are no plugs for your laptop. Just go and appreciate the quality coffee they serve. (loss of the other 1/2 star for me not getting a place to sit last time). Parking is rough. Street parking only, and on a busy street at that. They do, however, have a bike rack so that you can cycle over to Coffee Cycle and lock up your bike while you escape the moment in a latte. I will admit that I have not tried any of their food in a long time, so no comments on that other than it is a very limited menu (indicating that items are somewhat fresh). They have a few items for retail sale from local artisans for which you pay via Venmo (so it might be honor system), which I think is pretty hipster cool of them. I once saw a pop-up of Cycle Coffee outside REI, so you might even catch their drips outside of the brick and mortar in PB. read more

CUTE AND CHILL VIBES (5 stars) First time here and first time having sugar-cane processed decaf coffee beans. Okay okay, we all know, I am a lover of decaf, specifically through SWP. To discover a local coffee shop that decaffeinates through sugar-cane processing is something new to me. I've always read about it but haven't tried it until my visit here. What is that? There are multiple ways the decaffeinate. The regular chemical way, swiss water processed (natural no chemicals), and sugar-can processed (also natural no chemicals). "The sugarcane process gets its name because ethyl acetate, or EA, is used to decaffeinate coffee. EA is a natural compound derived from cane sugar that can be found in fruits and other foods. Being derived from sugar, EA bonds to chlorogenic acids found in caffeine. When EA bonds to chlorogenic acids, the separation of the caffeine from the coffee bean begins." DECAF VANILLA LATTE - good beans. It was balanced but did have a very slight hint of acidity even with vanilla flavor. I like my beans with more notes chocolatey and nutty than fruit notes because I like that smooth and rounded flavor. The acidity was barely noticeable and quickly dissipated. The coffee. Oh man the coffee. I could write an ode to it. I'm a boring drip coffee man, nothing iced or flavors or syrups. This coffee was immaculate. Smooth, tasty but not burnt or overpowering. The 2 staff members are super friendly without being fake. There were a lot of regulars which is a great sign as it's opposite a Starbucks so that tells me a lot. I had the breakfast burrito with the habenano aoli on the side. Delicious. The burrito held up well and had the right amount of filling, not too much. read more

Cute, quaint, with great staff! I visited on a Saturday morning around 7:15am and was greeted with the amazing smell of coffee. It was just the barista and I and she gave a great recommendation for my order. I was ordering for multiple people and she offered a drink carrier which was very helpful. The espresso they have is delicious and don't get me started on the drip coffee! So good! Really cute cafe to stop by for a coffee! The baristas are welcoming and very friendly. They have several roast options and also a selection of latte flavors. I tried a Vanilla Bean Latte and a Honey Cinnamon Latte and both were smooth with a nice slight sweetness. The seating area inside is small, so maybe not a place to stay and get work done, but the interior is decorated and they sell cute trinkets as well. read more

And simply because I read a review about the vanilla bean latte I added one of those to my order even though I don't tend to like sweet coffee drinks. The latte was fantastic! Coffee cycle is run by a a coffee expert who guest appears often on an educational podcast called Roast West Coast - highly recommended you listen to their "coffee smarter" episodes. When I stop by, I know I am getting coffee that is both ethically sourced and perfectly roasted with complex flavors. Their pour overs are made with precision each step of the way. When I stop by, I know the cap, latte, mocha, or cortado will be made exactly properly, to the right temperature and texture. Their syrups are made in store and the mocha is a true powder. When I stop by, I know I'll get a few laughs with the owner, or at least witness a glorious, dog friendly line out the door. This place can be busy and they don't rush anything. They do take orders over text message, ask the batista. So come for extremely amazing coffee. Sit down, drink it and take time with it. Their coffee is art. I've been coming here since they opened, quality has only gotten better, especially now that they personally roast the beans now. Lastly their prices are completely normal, you'll pay the same or more at Starbucks. If you aren't sure what to get, just ask for a Cachew-Macademian Latte, as of this writing it should be $5ish. read more

Coming from a history of working in the cycling industry and my own passion for home roasting coffee, Coffee Cycle was close by as I was in PB to get a tire fixed, I had to stop by. I wasn't going to post until I remembered the name of the guy who was over unbelievably gracious with me. My endless stream of questions were answered expertly, far beyond anything I have ever experienced when I visit roaster shops. I usually get short answers, no embellishment, and minimal engagement. I think it was Chris, but I apologize if I'm wrong. He had an equally friendly (and prettier) barrista helping him, and as busy as she was, she also stayed engaged in the conversation. Great place to go if you are really into coffee. I got an African pour over and it is/was fantastic. They roast in their OB shop, and I am very partial to coffee shops who roast their own coffee, so this one is my new favorite! read more

I used to be a regular customer herehappily spending the $5-7 it would cost to have a good pourover. Sadly, no more. The last time I stopped by I had a payment problem with a pending balance from PayPal. At first the Brazillian barista was happy to give me the cup I had been poured gratis whie I telephoned PayPal to release my funds. However after getting through to Paypal, I wanted to test my card on a refill as well as pay for my previous coffee. I don't know if it was because Her English wasn!'t good enough or what but the barista's attitude turned hostile while I tried to explain that I wanted to pay for my coffee, not have another free one! Her English speaking staff seemed to understand me but were also too intimidated to explain her confusion to their manager. She then told me to leave, still completely misunderstanding my English as much as my intentions. Having met the owner I dropped by subsequently to drop off my card and was again confronted by an openly hostile Brazilian barista who did not even try to cover her contempt and hostility. I don{t have time in my life for this kind of time waster and there are plenty of alternatives to Cycle coffee in Pacific Beach. Great little neighborhood coffee shop ensconced in a storefront of an apartment building. There is a kiosk-like wheeled coffee cart in a brick and mortar shop. Creative and open layout with a side counter and stools. There a few tables to sit, sip, and linger. Come here for the coffee. Genni took my order. I asked for a strong bold brew. Genni said in five minutes she would have a dark roast ready for me. The best brew of coffee I have sipped in a long while. A shoutout to Genni for the dark roast brew and her smile. Coffee Cycle is dog friendly too. Two good looking pooches lounging in front of the entrance with their coffee sipping guardians. The patrons, the morning I walked into this coffee shop, were happily sipping their coffee. I will return for the coffee on my next visit to the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. read more
