Listen do you like coffee and plants and flowers and awesome people? Well I found your place!! Tim was awesome this morning and made an amazing brown sugar latte. The plants are crazy amazing. The potions have the largest leaves I've ever seen. I bought a string of pearls that I'm so excited about. They have lot parking in the back which is a major score in OB There is the cutest little bookshop next-door that's owned by the same people. They are dog friendly, and Seamus was super excited to get some treats. I would go back for the coffee. I would go back for the plants.. I would go back for the people. And I will definitely be going back to look at the bookstore when it's open. read more

Had trouble finding The Coffee Method because it was inside a floral store which was under construction. My wife ordered a unique drink that she usually gets at home in Arizona, so there were a lot of adjustments for the barista but she got it done without flaw. Fortunately we were the only patrons. TCM had seating for 11 peeps but some of the tables were covered with construction materials. I found a comfy couch to lounge in during the complex order by my wife. It was very pleasant sitting inside and was a short walk from the main Newport bustle. read more

Love the vibe in here. It's nice and quiet and the people are friendly. It was initially difficult to find because it's kind of a building within a floral shop but I should've noticed that it had a suite number. The outside is shaded nicely in the late morning to hang out with the dogs. At the time there was a table outside with two chairs. The inside didn't seem to have a problem when I brought my dogs in. I ordered the vanilla latte and it was wonderful! Not too sweet, which is the way I like it. We also got the pourover Yemin and it was nice and strong. Would love to come back soon! read more

The Coffee Method - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Diego, California

This place is such a gem! 3 headed dragon here, offering you coffee/pastries, flowers, and knick knacks/souvenirs). The coffee baristas always have a good disposition and are super friendly. The drinks are simple yet delicious. It's a small but open and light space. They do have a coffee alternative menu so if coffee isn't your thing there are mushroom, cocoa drinks, matchas, and teas. They now have macadamia and pistachio but milk alternatives too. I love it here! Grab a coffee, some flowers for bae, and an artisan bag next door all in one swoop! Def worth checking out if you're passing by or have visitors in town read more

This is a cute coffee shop that doubles as a plant shop. We passed by for an iced vanilla coffee and a freshly brewed tea on our way to meet our friends for lunch, and had a great experience. The worker was very friendly and had great recommendations, and also gave us suggestions for other food places in the area. We love supporting small businesses so will definitely be back! read more

Stopped by the coffee method on the way to walking to the pier, and was pleasantly surprised by how adorable this coffee shop was! We ordered just a black coffee and an almond milk latte. And we loved both, but we're pleasantly surprised by just how could the drip coffee was! My mom couldn't stop raving about it the entire morning. What's also fun about this coffee shop, is that it is covered in flowers and plants that you can actually purchase! While waiting for our coffees we were able to explore the shop with their variety of succulents, house plants, and flowers. If we weren't vacationing, we probably would have walked out with one of their thriving fig trees. The entire shop was so inviting and cute. We stayed well beyond the wait for our coffees just because we enjoyed it so much. read more

Cute little coffee shop connected to a florist! I saw they had Local Roots Kombucha on tap and asked about the flavors (apple ginger lime and strawberry lemintade). The girl working poured me small samples of the flavors and told us a little more about the kombucha since it was my first time trying kombucha on tap. Both were delicious so I ended up getting half and half! My husband ordered a cold brew and said it was very good. The Coffee Method also has lots of coffee and tea options as well as pastries. There are three tables for indoor seating and a small seating area outside. read more

My coffee was disappointing, it had chunks on it so not sure if something happened when it was being brewed. I did get an iced coffee with vanilla and cinnamon which I realize Iced didn't seem Like their specialty by looking at the menu but I was surprised that it was actually bad. I tried to "fix" it with sugar and crème but it couldn't be saved. I thought about taking it back but the staff didn't seem like they were having a good day and we all felt like an inconvenience. Overall would not go back here. I feel bad sharing negative experiences but hopefully the staff takes this review as on opportunity to fix. The staff did notice I didn't drink my coffee but they did not ask if I would like it remade, what was wrong etc they only took the full cup and dumped it out. read more

Hands down best vanilla latte I've ever had. I've been there twice now and it has the same consistent taste that not all coffee shops have. Very cute and quaint shop. Blueberry muffins are delicious too!! read more

The Coffee Method - 2 Iced Vanilla Oat Milk Latte's - Coffee & Tea Near Me - San Diego, California

If you need a cup of coffee and some fresh cut flowers, this place is for you. This place is all about fine organic coffee. I stopped in had a two shot Americano with room, and I saw some Bread and Cie Biscottis and I just had to have one. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-coffee-method-san-diego?select=00jKXJ4odedEh2NOORk2Lw#XTPnA0ufeqIY0HfE5b7YWA) The American was very good. It was light but full of flavor and very aromatic. No doubt, the biscotti was perfect for dunking into the Americano. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-coffee-method-san-diego?select=00jKXJ4odedEh2NOORk2Lw#lQ3p47X9fOBaORLPIl8BdQ) The biscotti had slivered almonds and chocolate chips in it, which were very good The biscotti was very crunchy, the way it should be. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-coffee-method-san-diego?select=00jKXJ4odedEh2NOORk2Lw#6S_IkeCOg1dcZINMFXgFrA) You can get a variety of coffees here, including Pour overs, espresso, French Press, and Chemex. The owner is quite knowledgeable about his practice and methods to get the best flavor out of a coffee bean. A smooth Americano indeed. read more

This is a great coffee shop. Amazing atmosphere, vibe, customer service, and coffee. Steve made me the best iced caramel latte with oat milk I've *ever* had in my life. I'm talking a whole experience here, not just a cup of coffee. This singular cup of coffee transformed my whole day and put a smile on my face and made me nicer to people. They take their time making their drinks and it is so worth it. The coffee was smooth, creamy, and I can safely say I could live off of their coffee for the rest of my life. You will not be sorry checking them out! read more

If you're looking for food, they don't have much of a selection. It doesn't appear to be the focus but there's stuff like bagels available. Their drink selections are modest but higher quality. I ordered matcha milk tea with soy and my boyfriend got an iced americano. Both were pretty solid. I like that it's in a flower shop. read more

Moved just a few blocks away and was happy to see something close, but the staff member was incredibly rude. Went once and didn't think anything of it, but it happed again the second time. I feel kind of taken advantage of. Popped in to Coffee Method due to their amazing rating. One guy was working, and he was swamped with drink orders. I perused the menu and my friend and I laughed at the fact that there was a $6.50 coffee. I'm a coffee snob, but not so much that I'd pay over $5 for a coffee drink unless someone swore up and down that it was amazing. Anyway, my friend ordered an iced chai, and I told the barista to make whatever he wanted. I couldn't decide on a bean or a style (pourover or espresso), so I figured I'd let the barista decide. Most baristas appreciate this freedom and will hook up a special price or make something off-menu as an experiment. The wait was brutal, as we sat there and he made four pourovers for the customers before us. Finally my friend's chai came out... hot. She didn't want to make a big deal out of it, so she didn't say anything. But she asked him before if he could make it iced and he said yes, so he heard her. He just forgot. Already off to a bad start. My coffee? "You said I could pick anything I wanted, so yours is $6.50." Really dude? Kind of a dick move. Yes, I told you to pick, but most people in that spot would ask the customer if they're OK with a $6.50 cup of coffee. I've actually had that exact scenario before. I would have said no, any of the other beans are fine. But he had me on a technicality, so I paid. You made money on this transaction, but I won't be back and I'm posting a bad review of you guys. Was the coffee good? Yes. If it was $6.50 good, I would have been ok with it. But it wasn't, it was just as good as any $3 coffee I could have had. Thanks a lot for taking advantage of me, and screwing up my friend's order. read more

I'm kinda in love with this place. The service and coffee are equally awesome and the shop itself is a a little oasis. Everything is freshly made in house and options are endless. So happy I found it this rainy morning. Will be back again! read more

Best. Coffee. In. OB. ...maybe anywhere in San Diego. Seriously, this guy knows what he's doing, and clearly cares about his work. This isn't just another coffee shop. It's EASILY the best in OB, possibly in San Diego. Each shot of espresso is brewed with absolute attention to detail. The water is kept at precise temperature. The amount and grind of beans - even the BLEND, all carefully managed. Such delightful crema on each shot! Don't like Espresso drinks? How 'bout French Press? Yup. No big carafe of hours-old drip coffee soaked to the last dregs. The decor and location may not be top-notch (a little difficult to find, across the st from Poma's and inside a flower shop), but the coffee, oh... what coffee. ...the prices are even lower than the competition. $3.45 for a triple Americano (my drink). Do yourself a favor and give this hidden gem a try. read more

Omg! I'm so excited that they offer pour over, French press, cheer, cold press, cold extraction, and pre-brew! This is not a grab and go kind of coffee shop. These methods take time to brew. I would expect my cup to be ready within 5-10 minutes, depending on how busy it is. Different brewing methods extract different flavors from coffee and Robert really appreciates all the mothods coffee can be brewed. If you're in a rush go for the pre-brew. read more

I used to go here all the time but man has it gone down hill. I'm not sure if the girls they hire just don't listen or really don't know how to do the job but I get the same drink all the time and have paid four different prices for it in the same exact week which makes no sense and my drink is wrong every single time!!! The most memorable nitro cold brew I've ever had. Ask for the brown sugar syrup that is made in house, as it pairs perfectly with it.
