Unfortunately it was more mild and plain, so it was simply okay. I expected a sweeter flavor with the syrup. Acento is more casual grab & go, with an adorable dog running around. He must be the cutie on the motorcycle! I would try this place again if I'm nearby, but with so many coffee spots in San Diego I think it's easy to get lost in the mix. It seems like they're doing great things with the shop, but this particular visit just wasn't for me. Maybe I should be trying their freddo specialty?

The staff was super friendly and helpful. They had a fall menu, and of course I had to try their classic PSL. It was SO good! This is what I call an actual coffee, unlike some of the overly sugary PSLs out there. They use real pumpkin puree, and it paired perfectly with the espresso. You can really taste the coffee! Their beans are roasted in-house, which is always a plus. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their fall menu!

It is typically medium roast, not sour or bitter. Today I bought this: "Verao" Single Origin Tasting notes: marzipan, peanuts, caramelized sugar 12 oz. Very aromatic after brewing and you can pick up the tasting notes if you sniff into the grounds especially. The STAFF are okay but not great. Nobody was present at the counter for several minutes and there is no bell to ring. I vetoed and used the restroom. When I returned, same deal. She did show from the back a couple of minutes later but she acted as if I was invisible. Was she handling a drive-thru order on those ear buds? ;) Regardless, I eventually got my java and up out of that mug. Thankfully the java in my mug was worth the minor annoyance. Welcome to the anti-social "tech age" where even customer service people are sometimes not down.

It's a chic, cozy, and not overly-pretentious coffee spot on Broadway in downtown that really embraces a black, gold, and deep blue color scheme. I ordered a cold brew in a to-go cup, and the clerk welcomed me to sit in the shop as long as I wanted despite that. They had a specialized machine to create the cold brew through slow drip, which was unusual and cool. The bathroom, by the way, was also really clean and nice--bizarrely gaudy in its presentation and contrast with the rest of the shop, but clean as hell and cozy. My cold brew was complex, flavorful, and overall a joy to drink. I hung out and people watched for a while. Then I sipped on my way down along Broadway toward where I parked. The only downside of this experience is the parking situation. It's very difficult to find parking within 4 blocks of this location, so be ready for a quick jaunt. Otherwise you'll likely have to pay for parking. That alone could range from $2-15 for 30 minutes, depending on whether you find a meter or have to use a garage.

DW is a great little shop/ roastery tucked in a corner of a shopping plaza with a large grocery store and some other small, local spots. DW has a fun, retro vibe to their decor and merch. The baristas are always SO kind and friendly! The owner, Mike, is also super outgoing and welcoming. Everyone is always willing to give me recommendations, which have all been yummy for me. I don't drink coffee/espresso (I know!), but it always smells and looks amazing. Mike roasts the coffee beans himself! What I can say is their matcha is top notch. They use a ceremonial grade powder that is smooth, creamy, and so so yummy in their lattes. The shop also has absolutely stellar syrups and flavors that are made in-house. The combination of such high quality ingredients lends itself to delicious drinks consistently. I've only had a few food items, but they've been really great too! Special shout out to the banana bread for sure. Overall, Dreamwave is consistently awesome! The baristas provide excellent service, food, and drinks. The shop itself has a great vibe and cool merch. I couldn't ask for more, which is why it's a fave for me that I share with all my friends!
