Premixed matcha. Long waits. Horrible parking situation in the morning. I'm not exactly sure what's the hype about this spot. The foam top was delicious but the matcha itself was not. It was grainy and had no real matcha flavor.
Wow, I really had no idea what I was walking into coming here. On the way, I thought the entrance looked like a warehouse garage similar to how some breweries are around town. But upon stepping inside, I was very unexpectedly surprised and amazed at the decor, music, how crowded it was, and overall what a unique space this is. It went straight to my list of places to recommend people to come to for something fun and unique. They had some novelty goods and souvenirs on sale, and the space blends neatly with the attached nursery. Parking was easy in free parking lot for Saturday noontime. There was a live DJ onsite playing music. As someone who is really picky about matcha latte and has had many in Japan, and make my own at home, this was the best matcha latte I've had from a non-Asian business. It had good strong flavor, smooth texture, and was unsweetened so that I can add sugar to my taste.
I'm giving this 5/5 for the aesthetic of this place. I got their season item "To Die For" which is pumpkin espresso w/ pumpkin cold foam. It was good, a bit on the sweeter side. But I would get it again, and it was ~$7. The line to order was super short and you can walk down the aisle of trinkets/souvenirs before you make it to check out. There is also a QR code to order online if you want to skip the line. There is a TV screen that shows your order and ETA. I got my drink in about 15-20 minutes according to the screen but I was so distracted walking around all the greenery that I didn't notice if it even took that long. The highlight of this coffee spot is of course all the greenery! It is connected to the Terra Bella Nursery and you can shop for all your plants here. There is a lot of seating area secluded in little alcoves hidden by the plants. A perfect place to both grab coffee and chat or study quietly.
Honestly, vibes are at an all time high here. My husband and I tried some coffee, but it wasn't our fave. Both were a little over sweet, and we wished it had more of a coffee flavor. The plants in combination with the stuff they sell plus some decorations are so cute. I would definitely visit again and try something different.
Giant disco ball? Music blasting even before you get in? It's simply a good time while grabbing pastries, coffee or acai bowls. Be mindful that there could be a wait so order ahead if possible. Parking is street parking outside so be prepared for that. I got a doppio espresso. It's a little on the darker roast imo but letting it sit a bit, it became more balanced.
Such a cool place to get coffee! Also there's plants! I got the mothertrucker it was good. Had pistachio in it. There was a dj playing songs. It was a vibe. They had so many drinks in the fridge to sell and little Knick Knacks.
This matcha was so good! Loved the strawberry cloud cream, it tasted like strawberry nesquik and wasn't too sweet so you could still taste the matcha. The ambiance was really cool too! They had a DJ playing music, a bunch of plants to shop around for and it was very lively. They also offer online ordering so if you want your order quicker you can order ahead. Definitely recommend 10/10!
Not kidding when I say this is the most stunning coffee shop I have ever seen! Everything about this place gets 5 stars! The servers were super kind and helpful! The decor is stunning! The vibes/music immaculate, the nursery beautiful! Super clean, incredible decor, the most adorable trinkets!!! Cannot say enough great things!!
one of the best coffee spots we've been to. coffee was wonderful - the beans are really nice and the flavors on top pair very well. we got pistachio latte and vanilla latte with marshmallow cream. i can't recommend the marshmallow cream enough! service was quick and the person taking our order was very sweet. on top of this, the location is BEAUTIFUL. it looks like a hole in the wall place when you park but the interiors are gorgeous (inside of a plant garden).
I have been here a few times. The location is tucked away behind an industrial area inside a plant store. I really like how open it is and the amount of seating they have. The service is good, it can get busy on weekends though so be prepared for a small wait time. In general this is a great coffee shop for very sweet drinks! If you want to go out and have a coffee with unique syrups and flavored cold foams it's a good spot for that. They do a great job of having a rotating drink menu.
I've been to Selva a few times now, and it's easily one of my favorite nursery/café spots in San Diego. Selva is tucked inside Terra Bella Nursery, and they've recently updated the area around it with more seating and a cute little walkway filled with gifts, plants, and adorable knickknacks. This place is seriously a plant lover's dream. Everything feels very curated and beautiful. There's usually a line for drinks, but the baristas have a great system where they text you when your order is ready, so you can wander around the nursery and shop instead of standing around waiting. The baristas were also really friendly and didn't rush you while ordering, which I appreciated. My husband ordered the Mother Trucker, and I got the More Than Friends. He liked his but immediately wished he had added the cloud foam after seeing mine. Mine was definitely on the sweeter side. The matcha itself was okay quality and not the most balanced matcha I've had, but I still enjoyed my drink. For me, Selva is really about the whole experience. Grab a drink, wander through the plants, browse all the cute little things, and enjoy the beautiful space. I also saw a flyer that they're doing social events on Fridays and Saturdays with live music/DJs, coffee, and mocktails, which sounds like such a fun use of the space. I'd definitely like to come back and check one of those out.
When I'm on this side of town and have either my laptop or notebook on me, I like to stop into Selva. The atmosphere here is amazing. I usually like to stroll through the plant selection before finding a table and ordering a latte to savor. Selva has a great selection of different flavors and changing seasonal lattes on their menu too. Staff's always super friendly. Sometimes it can be difficult to find parking or seating inside. It just depends on when you go. This time I got a seasonal latte called the Breaking News which was described as having flavors of popcorn, caramel, and espresso. I liked the flavor combo but the latte was too sweet for me. It's cute how they put actual caramel corn on top, but I did remove this cos I didn't want kernels getting stuck in my gums. The coffee had good strength too as it definitely gave me an energy boost. Regardless, I really do like the spot and trying out the different latte flavors they offer!
Came back and ordered the Smooth Operator. It took ~15 minutes for the drink to come out FYI on a weekday 9am. There was also plenty of parking still available in the lot, a few open tables too. Spotted an outlet on the wall, but didn't see other outlets since this is half plant nursery! I was originally pretty skeptical of the Smooth Operator... like matcha with mocha (chocolate) AND blackberry AND oat milk? No way that it works. But it did? And it was really good?? I got it half sweet with light ice. It had a solid base of matcha with a tangy blackberry burst and a rounded chocolate finish. The flavors are all individually so strong, idk how they got it to go well together. My friend LOVED the shop, esp the little tie bits and goodies that they sell on the way to the cashier. The disco balls and decor were such a hit.

If you're stopping by Terra Bella Nursery, grabbing a coffee from Selva House inside is a must! My bf and I have been a handful of times, and it's such a cute, unique spot. Coffee: My go-to is the Bee Yourself, their honey cinnamon latte. I love trying honey cinnamon lattes around San Diego, and this one is easily one of my favorites! Sometimes there's a line, but the drinks usually come out pretty quickly. Service: The staff is always friendly, which makes each visit that much better. Ambience: Being surrounded by plants and unique decor makes this such a beautiful place to sit, read a book, or hang out for a bit. I love how the decor changes with the seasons, so there's always something new to enjoy. We've also always found plenty of parking, which is a huge plus! Definitely a must-stop for coffee and plant lovers! read more
my friend and i checked out this cafe/plant nursery while visiting san diego - the cafe was decorated with many plants and trees while connected to a plan nursery with even more plants and trees. there were a lot of tables for seating and there was a dj that was playing music was overhyped - we got the funny business matcha and the queenie. the funny business matcha (3.5/5) tasted way too strongly of cinnamon and i barely tasted the matcha that it ruined the drink for me. the queenie (4.0/5) was better but the matcha was a little bit powdery. we waited roughly 20 minutes for our drinks even though there wasn't that many people during the time we were here - the servers were nice and helpful to our needs. there is street parking and a mini parking lot at the plant nursery area. the nursery area was also very spaceous and it was a nice place to walk out while drinking our drinks. overall, this was a nice cafe to try out in the san diego area read more

Absolutely love this place! It gets super busy, so make sure to order online for pick up. The food is pre-prepared so you can't modify anything but it's well priced and quick so it's worth it. The ambiance is also so beautiful! Being surrounded by so many pretty plants and decorations feels like you're in a fairy wonderland. read more

Let me start by saying this coffee shop gets BUSY. We stopped by on a Saturday and there were so many people here. After waiting in line and ordering, we waited about 20 minutes for our drinks. I mean it's understandable because it was busy but still a bit of a wait. We ordered the Queenie and featherweight. The drinks were just okay. Definetly more on the aesthetic. This place is a good place to hang out with drinks maybe get some work done although it gets pretty loud and there's a lot going on. Drinks were a three star but the decor and vibes are 4 star. I would probably return and try something new, it may change my rating. read more

Selva Coffee House is an amazing and super cute coffee shop located inside a plant nursery. I visited early in the morning on a weekday and the place was not very full. They have an amazing menu of drinks, pastries and also breakfast items. Placing an order was very easy and the staff was very kind. Please note that if you order breakfast items, you need to pick them up at a different area of the nursery. For my first time I went with an iced coffee and ordered their cheese danish. The coffee was delicious and exactly what I needed after my flight to San Diego. The cheese danish was probably one of the best I've ever had, and I am still dreaming about it. The place has cute vibes and plenty of tables to hang out or work remotely. They also have a nice selection of unique items that I think make perfect gifts. Overall, this was such a unique find, and I can't wait to come back during my next trip to San Diego! read more

It's such a vibe here. Perfect place for a date. If you have a green thumb or are artistic, you'd absolutely love this stakeout. They have plants, coffee, snacks...what is there not to love? You're also met with lots of crafts, such as stickers, postcards, candles, etc. There was a line when I came. Not particularly long, it went by pretty quick because I got distracted from all the goodies while standing in line. I ended up getting a El Jefe latte (brown sugar espresso) to start, and it was pretty good! Above average and was easy to drink, not too acidic. The brown sugar syrup was okay, I'd get something else the next time. Wait times were pretty long, but the chance to walk around and see pretty flowers, rocks, and plants make it not such a bad thing at all. There are a few tables, but there weren't enough for my party when I went in the late afternoon (5pm-ish) Plenty of parking, and cafe employees are extremely sweet and cheerful. They say green vibrant plants bring your high cortisol levels down. Would def recommend if you're in search of a new cafe. If you're coming from the airport, it's not too far and you can squeeze in a coffee/souvenir run! read more

whoever came up with the ideas of the designs/layout of this place is a genius. disco ball, small tables, beach balls, smaller hidden area with hanging pots, and most importantly... CATS. there's a smaller parking area with spots for compact parking closer to the plant nursery. i'd recommend exploring the back area with the whole nursery. it's so peaceful to walk around and see the small details that they put into the theme. as i was walking i saw the cutest calico cat, and then a black cat came out as i was petting the first one for the drinks themselves, they're worth trying but would not go here expecting the best. my sister had the banana matcha last time she was there, and she never can tell the difference between good matcha, but she could tell this one was mid, so i think that says a lot. more than friends (brown sugar matcha + tiramisu foam): 3.5/5 - not the worst but not the best. drank it without mixing the cream to get the most of the cream tiramisu flavor which saved it tbh. matcha flavor not that strong, just nice to try since you're already there. this would be a place to go more for aesthetics and vibes than the drinks. the baristas are sweet and happy to give recommendations. i came on a sunday at 4pm and waited in line for 15 minutes read more

Wow this spot is really incredible, unique and has delicious coffee. Also shoutout to the barista who helped us with our order when there was a menu confusion issue and made it right - thank you so much! Inside is filled with plants since they are inside Terra Bella Nursery with a wide selection of plants trees and more. Spacious and good vibes for the tables and seating in various spots. They have an extensive menu with matcha or espresso and even non coffee options. Pastries in the display case and the real winner was the breakfast burritos from the food truck outside. You order at the register then go outside to grab them. Loved the giant disco ball too inside the nursery. 5/5 would come back. read more

I've come here three times the last month because I'm obsessed. Doesn't hurt that. They have a cute plant shop attached to the coffee shop. I got their funny business latte, which was really good and my mom got their Matcha latte with strawberry cream. Everyone there is super nice. I got their pop tart pastry, which was really good. They also have a bunch of really unique chocolate bars. I can't wait to go back. read more
This place is stunning!! Parking can be tight, so be careful in the parking lot, it gets narrow. The coffees are delicious and there are plenty of chairs for sitting and enjoying the lush plants. Staff was friendly and quick with orders. read more

My sister-in-law and I came to this coffee shop because of its great reviews and how cute it looked. The atmosphere was definitely charming, but there was one thing that concerned us. The dairy milk was left sitting out for over an hour, which was disappointing to see. Thankfully, we ordered oat milk, but it's something customers should be aware of if they plan on ordering drinks with dairy milk. As for the drinks, mine tasted a bit artificial, while my sister-in-law enjoyed hers and thought it was good. Overall, the shop has a cute vibe, but there are some areas that could use improvement. read more
Saw this on TikTok and had to try it with my friend since we were in the area. Sadly to say this place was overhyped. The drink menu had a lot of options to choose from however, the drinks its self were okay. We got the strawberry and banana matcha and waited 20 minutes for our drinks. The matcha wasn't very strong and it was a little powdery. There were seats, a DJ, and a lot of plants scattered throughout the place. Attached is a plant nursery with a lot of different plants and trees to look at. We ended up buying a plant we never seen before and it wasn't too pricey. read more
Okay what? Selva, you've gotten a MAJOR upgrade and have become the Secret Garden of my dreams. I almost hesitate to bid y'all to give it another chance 'cuz I don't wanna be without a seat when I come next. But hey, we can share a table I used to come to Selva months ago to wait out traffic before dance class nearby, but seating was always hard to find: 7-8 tables cramped around one large tree in the center of the coffee area which, as many of you may remember, inhabited just 1/4th of the huge warehouse room it is situated in. As of May 2026 (and before, but this is my date of visit), the seating now stretches all the way to the back of the warehouse room. Circle tables with 1, 3, 5 green chairs nestled between large potted plants so you and your besties (or just your laptop) can vibe together amidst all the shared oxygen. AMBIENCE: 4.5/5 Bury me in a sea of green and I'm a happy girl. San Diego is a relatively newer city so it's hard to find brick anything... but here, in this tall expanse of a painted brick building, light flows in through the row of windows near the ceiling; planet-looking plants twirl, hung overhead. That's not even mentioning the whole plant warehouse this shop is attached to -- 2 more large rooms PLUS a whole outside filling to the brim with gorgeous greenery. If your brain gets tired working, it's so nice to peruse the plant aisles beneath the huge twirling disco ball in the plant room attached. I deducted .5 points because it's not in the nicest part of town; you may run into folks on the street here. If you're a lone woman, keep your wits about you as you're walking at night... but I've never had a problem. DRINKS / FOOD: 4/5 I don't remember seeing if there is prepared food here, but I do see snacks (chips, baked goods) and refrigerated drinks GALORE, plus a whole middle section of cute gifts no one has a need for, but every last desire for. Today I got the "Funny Business", a banana/cinnamon-infused latte, half sweet, WITHOUT the banana-infused cream cloud on top, as ya girl must skip out on the dairy. I was delightfully surprised at how strong the coffee is -- I remember it being quite weak before. However, the drink without the cream top on its own is not that flavorful. I'm a good coffee / latte lover -- not a cream top one. I wouldn't say this place is for the coffee-serious (which is why I give it 4 stars out of 5), but they have so many inventive drinks for the sweet drinker. I do appreciate the variety of snacks and drinks they have here -- I am gluten free, so it's nice to have access to chips and not just gluten-full baked goods I can't eat, which most shops are known for. PARKING: 4/5 I mean... it could be worse. You're in an industrial part of town right next to the freeway, they couldn't exactly plan for a parking lot of their own here when building. [There IS a parking lot, but it's for people shopping for plants.] Parking is along the front of the warehouse and in the street perpendicular to it. If it's REALLY crazy, you can keep going down the street the warehouse is on and find parking down there. I've never had an issue with parking, but I come on Friday afternoons when the PLNU students etc. are likely not here. 4/5 for me. It's rare to find a place like this anywhere (just don't come expecting the best third wave coffee). Come enjoy a rare oasis of greenery and sweet drinks right near the water. And if you're feeling really inspired, head on down to Sunset Cliffs a few miles down to close out the night with an unforgettable view read more
Super unique location for a coffee shop and plant nursery. The combo I didn't know I needed. Local gem worth checking out. Lots of interesting coffee options. Ranging from the classics (drip, latte, cappuccino...) to the unusual (banana matcha) and so many different foam options. The staff were patient and helpful in explaining their menu to me. There are also pastries and a cooler of canned drinks as well. Some tables available, but it'd also be fun to take a walk and look at all the plants while sipping your drink. Everything about Selva gives! I am truly obsessed with everything about this place. Staying nearby, I was on the hunt for matcha. My companion pointed out Selva, and I knew we had to go. From just stepping in, I was blown away. Located in the Terra Bella Nursery, this place was gorgeous and took over one part of the nursery. It was so lush and green with plants everywhere. There were a good number of tables spaced out, and with the plants everywhere, it provided a bit of privacy. It was quite clean, good music, and a chill atmosphere. Most customers were my age, either hanging out or studying. I'd recommend this place for that! The workers were all super friendly and kind, and drinks came out quickly! I came here on two occasions, the first being in the morning, when I got a Funny Business with Oat Milk. I was in love, it tasted like a banana, great, but with an aftertaste of matcha. It was sweet, creamy, and tasty. In the second round, I came in the evening and got the Slow Clap with Oat Milk. There was a present guava taste, and it was a nice balance of fruity and earthy. I got both drinks with matcha, and the presentation was so pretty! I also loved how they don't charge additionally for non-dairy milk. Selva Coffee House was the only cafe I visited during my short trip to San Diego, but I never yearned for more because it's perfect. Amazing place, must try. Amazing music, vibes and plants. It's a plant store / cafe. The drinks and food is amazing. Great drink selection on and off the menu. Big refrigerators for other bottled beverages and snacks. The service is quick and professional, they also have online option to order but it's a great spot to cool off and breath some fresh air in the botanical selection. read more

This place is amazing . Me and my boyfriend were looking for a late night pick me up and this place popped up . We walked in and were greeted with a ton of plants . You wait in line to order at the register . I got the chia parfait and the quick question and my boyfriend got a characturie board for us to snack on . We waited about five minutes or so for our drinks . I really enjoyed the drink I got it was very refreshing and not too sweet . The chia parfait was pretty good and it had the perfect chocolate texture to it . I also liked how they had a nice selection of drinks other than coffee . There is plenty of seating in here as well which is always nice . read more
This coffee shop was beautiful and definitely something different from the regular coffee spots.......being surrounded by plants was such a vibe. But my honest review? More hype than flavor when it came to both the coffee and food... it just didn't give. I tried the banana coffee and honestly it wasn't my favorite. I also ordered a chorizo con papa burrito, which for Mexicans is such a simple comfort food, but somehow it missed the mark too. It barely had potato, and the few pieces inside were hard. The service/process was confusing as well. Nobody explained that drinks and food were picked up in different places, so I was left wondering where my food was after getting my coffee. Then the food took another 25 minutes. Between searching for parking, nowhere to sit, long wait times, and the food/coffee not being great, it just wasn't worth the hype to me. There are honestly so many better spots out there. Sadly, I won't be returning. read more

Met my girls here for an afternoon matcha. I love nursery cafes. Best business idea ever. My lavender matcha was decent (I don't drink them much so I don't have a lot to compare). I didn't order any food. I came for the ambiance. The vibe is amazing. Terra Bella nursery is a big, open air nursery with a cute food truck parked outside, Selva coffee house inside, a merch shop, the biggest disco ball I've ever seen and a dayside DJ. I bet it's fun at night! read more

My FAVORITE BANANA MATCHA IN SD! The "funny business" matcha is hands down the best and my favorite banana matcha ever! It's also very reasonably priced at $7! Banana + honey + espresso/matcha + milk + banana cloud cream + cinnamon, this is a banana bread dreammm, it hits every time I get it. My friend got it as the espresso and said it was delicious as a coffee option too! I've also tried their "trust fund kid" matcha which is an earl grey + espresso/matcha + milk. This one was good but didn't hit as much as the funny business does for me, I feel like I've had stronger earl grey flavor matchas before. My friend got the "slow clap" matcha and said it was delicious too! Guava + matcha/chai + milk + guava cloud cream. I'd be very curious to try this as a chai since I've never seen a guava chai before! My parents got the "loose cannon" espresso and liked it but it seemed pretty basic/standard to me! Irish cream + espresso/matcha + milk + vanilla cloud cream. Seems ideal if you're looking for a good creamy latte w some cute green accents on top! They also got an americano and enjoyed it! $4 isn't bad for espresso + water and they said the coffee blend was good! Seems like the trend amongst what me and my friends have gotten is anything with a flavor and cloud cream is a delicious option. PASTRIES: I've also tried their strawberry orange loaf and it was perfectly moist with natural strawberry orange flavors, I would definitley be interested in trying more of their pastries! Ambiance is fantastic it's inside a giant plant store warehouse so feels like you're in a houseplant jungle while you sip on your morning coffee/matcha. Also gives you something to do since you can explore and window shop while you wait for your drink. They have lots of other cute cards and little Knick knacks lining the area to line up to place your order too so there's always something to capture your attention! Also a good amount of seating and you get to sit amongst all of the lovely plants and feel the fresh air! Service has been pretty fast every time I've come especially given how busy they've been on the weekend when I've come. (Albeit be prepared to wait 15-20+ min on a busy holiday weekend). When they're busy they'll have someone at the counter taking orders alongside someone on a tablet to speed things up. You get a text notification when your drink is done so no need to wait around the counter. There's also a little TV where names and estimated wait times are updated which is super convenient! Parking here is plentiful! There's a parking lot as well as tons of street parking, I've always been able to find parking within a block or two even on mother's day! Overall, I LOVE selva, the funny business matcha alone is enough to keep me coming back! Dare I say this may be my favorite / one of my favorite matcha place in SD! Their drinks are also super cute alongside being super tasty and their interior is so good! read more
Perfect place to bring someone who isn't from San Diego! The space: very aesthetically pleasing, big spaces, big coffee shop, lots of plants, indoor/outdoor spaces The drink: ordered on the online QR code since it said it would be a shorter wait. I ordered the guava matcha with guava cold foam! Probably one of my favorite matchas I have had in SD. The guava is a great complimenting taste. 8.7/10 The service: i waited 45 minutes for a matcha that said it would be done in 9-14 minutes. Personally, that deterred me from ever coming back. 45 minutes for a drink is absolutely crazy. Or at least update your online ordering to an accurate time. Will only return if it's on a weekday or I really really only want the guava matcha. read more
Super cute hole in the wall coffee shop located within Terra Bella nursery. I came here on a weekday around 11am and was surprised at how busy it was. Super cute decor paired with all the greenery from the nursery makes this spot a great photo opp. The coffee itself was just okay, but was very aesthetically pleasing. Selva is a great spot to grab a quick bite or drink while wandering around the nursery and admiring all the wonderful plants. read more
This coffee spot is located inside a plant nursery. Parking is rough on the weekends/holidays. They have a small amount of street parking. Order at the register and they will call your name out for you to pick up your food/drink on the side when it is ready. They have a tv on the wall with plants that has everyone's name and length of time until your drink is ready. Tried: got the drinks half sweet because the cloud foam is very sweet by itself. I love that they do not charge extra for alternative milks. Queenie - strawberry matcha was good Deja Vu - coconut matcha was good Hot chocolate - got a hot chocolate for the kiddo with some lucky charms. read more
The inside of this place is beautiful. As soon as you walk in, you are transported to a plant lover's garden. Service was quick and easy, and you can walk the nursery next door while waiting for your drink. Drinks were delicious. Would love to come back. read more
