Met a friend here on a Monday afternoon. Was definitely busy. They have indoor or outdoor seating and are dog friendly. I ordered the beez kneez latte hot. It was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness and foam I also got the croissant sandwich. It was ok. Not a whole lot of flavor. Staff were super sweet. The also have a little grocery area of unusual food items and gift type stuff. Vibe is typical North Park and so is the parking. read more

I really like how open this place is and how much seating they have both inside and outside. As it was my first time here, it took me a bit of time to figure out what I wanted and the baristas weren't very patient with me trying to read the menu and figure it out. I'm not sure what the issue was since there was literally no one else in line behind me. I ended up going with one of their seasonal drinks, the Rizzler, which is a strawberry and dark chocolate coffee drink. My first did not taste like the ingredients at all. I wouldn't have known there was strawberries in the drink if I hadn't seen the menu. It was a very muddled tasting drink where you couldn't really pick out any of the flavors, but they also didn't blend seamlessly together. It was weird. I usually take 2-3 days to finish a cup of coffee, but this was not tasty the 2nd day and I ended up just dumping whatever I had left. 2.5 stars read more

Sometimes a review doesn't require a lengthy pontification of how fabulous a place is. It speaks volumes when there is a continuous line, happy faces and repeat customers. This coffee shop presents with natural light, airy, spacious with tons of plants, protein bars, snacks, books, chachkies, and refrigerated items. In the heart of North Park. A lovely aesthetically pleasing high quality coffee shop. If I was closer I would frequent this place on my mama. Anyway my friend Ebony is finally back on the West Coast!! So we got coffee and matcha and celebrated. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking is better on the weekdays. We throughly enjoyed our drinks period! Ebony got the Golden Girl latte (brown sugar, molasses, good honey, pink salt, golden grahams, espresso + milk). Her go-to is the Bees Kneez (honey, vanilla, cinnamon, smoked salt, espresso + milk). I got the WildChild (lavender, mint, rosemary, thyme, organic matcha + milk) and it was wild like out of this world wild. So fresh and there were subtle hints of mint and rosemary. Ebony ordered with almond milk and I ordered with oat milk. Winning all around. Next time I would like to try Bodhi Boy (lavender, vanilla, organic matcha + milk) for more of a lavendar vibe. Lovesong is a neat coffee shop churning unique coffee and matcha concoctions while staying cute and classy in North Park. It's located just around the corner from Pigment and has big long on the windowsill, inside like stadium seats, at the bar, and tables outside. Their drinks are unique with molasses, rosemary, pink Himalayan sea salt, brown sugar, and much more. They're not overly sweet and smooth going down. Love Song in San Diego is super cute. The space is open, bright, and just really nice to hang out in for a bit. I got the Evergreen Parke and my friend got the Bodhi Boy. Lovesong is hands down my favorite coffee shop in San Diego. And coming from Seattle, I do not say that lightly. Their menu is so creative with unique and interesting drinks you don't see everywhere else, and my personal favorite is the Bee's Knees - love the Smoked salt w the vanilla. They're always busy, which says a lot. The storefront is cute, there's plenty of seating and outlets if you want to work for a few hours, and they're super dog friendly. And I may have to go out on a limb and say this... their veggie croissant sandwich is the best croissant sandwich I've ever had. Massive chunks of artichoke, this incredible sweet maple tomato butter situation, perfectly flaky croissant - it's genuinely to die for. I am pleased to have found the Rizzler here at Lovesong coffee!!! I'm not a big big fan of coffee normally due to being jittery but I will drink coffee that has a hint of strawberry and chocolate in it. I love it so much! This is my petition to keep the Rizzler on the menu forever please!!!!! I'm always looking for a new Coffee Spot to check out each week and this week's was LoveSong in North park. I got the Jack Johnson iced latte and it was pretty good. I'll order anything with banana in it. To me the service was regular. Nothing bad by any means but it did not stand out either. It is street parking only and it's North Park so that's always going to be difficult. We had to park several blocks away. We did have to take our coffee to go as there was no decent seating. There's outside seating and those were all taken and then there was some seats on the ledge with cushions but it was about 85° in the blazing sun so we were not going to sit there. And then they had seats inside in the corner but it's almost like bleacher seating so where you're sitting someone's feet are right there and they are above you and behind you. My friend and I were like absolutely not we are not sitting there. It's sound like a very odd seating setup. And I asked one of my friends about it and she also agreed. So very disappointing that we had to get our coffee to go. read more

Love this place! The aesthetic is super cute and they have lots of other products you can buy while waiting in line. The line can sometimes be long but it moves quick and the staff are all really nice. I had ordered this my first time here as a recommendation by the worker at the register as I told her how I normally like my drinks and she gave me the perfect recommendation as I think the drink I got, the double down bee, is so tasty I get this now every time I go here. It kind of tastes like a cinnamon-y cereal but in the best way. I've also brought my friends here who all got different drinks (the bodhi boy, the pool party, and a vanilla matcha latte) and all were hits with my friends per their tastes as well. I go to Lovesong occasionally when I get the time to drive to North Park. I live 25ish minutes away here but I still drive here just to get coffee! Inside has a good amount of indoor seating to do work on your laptop or just to hang out. There is a pretty good amount of outdoor seating too. The service is great and if you need any changes or additions to your drinks, the staff is happy to help with it. Parking is kind of bad but that is honestly everywhere in North Park. I recommend going here! What I usually order: I frequently order this iced coffee called the Flower Child. I like coconut so I like to order it and add the salted coconut cream top. If you don't, you can leave it plain or add other cream tops. The breakfast sandwiches are also so good. This past visit, I ordered a different drink to try things up and it was also so good! I ordered The Jack Johnson (and added salted coconut cream top). NOTE: Okay so one time I found a hair in the coffee and asked them to remake it and they remade it. Also, sometimes my breakfast sando isn't warmed through all the way and I hope that is something that they fix. The sandwiches seem to be cold before they heat it in their toaster oven and sometimes the center is cold. I don't really know how to ask them to fix that, since by the time I get there, I had already bit into it and I am not sure if they can reheat it after that. After two visits, I can confirm that the vibe here is unbeatable. I love the open format where there are seats on the "windowsill" and people are actually studying at the bar where the kind baristas are doing their thang! I've been looking for a similar café in the Bay Area because I love the vibe here so much. I did come here to try their Matcha, since their menu has such unique combinations of flavors. I have tried four of their Matcha lattes and have yet to try a coffee, which I actually think I would enjoy more here. While their drinks are good in the sense that I enjoyed sipping on them, you wouldn't exactly come here for a drink that tastes really like Matcha. You come here to taste the combo of caramelized fig, rosemary, and smoked salt in their "Twisted Sister" or pineapple and coconut in "Maui Babe." What I'm trying to say is, I appreciate the creativity put into each drink, but I wouldn't come here if I just wanted a strong matcha latte. read more

Lovesong coffee has some of the best matcha! It's the perfect balance of matcha and sweetener. The Bodhi Boy is not too sweet and perfect without any modification. The service is fast if you go early on a weekend! Anything later than 9am you'll have to wait a bit in line. They have lots of goodies for sale to look through while you wait in line. The decorations are lots of plants and greenery. It's a quiet place to sit and work from as well, with seating inside and outside. read more

Discovered this place thanks to Yelp. I will say that what usually piques my interest and gets me to try a certain coffee shop are the drink options and the aesthetic. LOVESONG COFFEE definitely has both. I knew we HAD to stop here when we came down to SD. This place is clearly very popular with a line out the door but it moved pretty quickly. Staff were very nice and helpful. With so many drink options, it was nice to get some recommendations. I love both coffee and matcha so it made it a little harder for me to decide. But I love how unique their menu is. I ordered the WildChild because I was so curious about the flavors and it all worked together. I loved it! LOVESONG COFFEE @ NORTH PARK Parking is available for street parking, very easy and free! This spot is located in North Park and is such an adorable spot. The ambiance is bright, welcoming, and so beautiful. I love the decor and the white. The matcha itself is on the pricier side, but I definitely wanted to try it. I decided to get their Wild Child (lavender, mint, rosemary), and it was VERY faint on the matcha, like very heavy on milk, but I still did enjoy it, as it was more of a subtle taste and not too strong. So if you're someone trying to get into Matcha, it's a very light flavor here. The service was great, the person taking the order was kind, and the drink came out quickly. My only thing was how little seating of tables they have inside, it was fairly packed so to snatch a spot, you'd definitely need to come early. There is also no A.C, just fans, so there were many flies in the cafe and outside, which is what lost the star for me because it was flying around my drink. Love the coffee selections!! Very cool and new exciting flavors, but.... Please don't hate me.... Very trendy, hipster spot. I overheard conversations that I only see on indie hipster television. I didn't even know people really talked like that outside of television. The seating is a little Wierd. They have a back wall wear people can sit, but it's not like a real chair. They look and feel like steps, steps that would be like on a Washington monument. So people just sit where they fit. Some people have their dogs there with them, which makes other people stay away. There is tables outside that have some shade. They also have a barstool area, but depending on what time of day you're going to get blasted by the sun. What really shines here is the service!!! The baristas and service are super nice and very gentle speakers. They're super inclusive. (Yes, I overheard conversations). The drinks!!! I was warned against San Diego matcha, but they were wrong!! Me and my friends were intrigued by how unique the flavor profiles were of the matcha here. We tried the WildChild and the Maui Babe! Each drink was a bit pricey at $8.50 before tax. The WildChild is a lavender, mint, and thyme matcha latte. The drink is very lavender forward, which was fine for me because I love floral matchas. The Maui Babe is basically a pina colada and matcha baby. My friend loved this as a pineapple lover, and I still enjoyed it even though I'm not a big fan of pineapple! The cafe is also spacious, with seating outside and a unique stair/bleacher concept in the back of the cafe where guests sit on cushions along the steps. There are also other products to shop from, like packaged snacks and crafts. I think Lovesong is definitely worth a try and I still crave the WildChild all the time! My only gripe is that it's a bit pricey and not all the flavor notes they promise actually appear in the matcha. read more

I've been on a matcha kick recently (more than usual I should add) so I've been trying matcha drinks all over OC and SD this month. I came with 2 of my girlfriends and the ambiance was great. It's cute and floral and open and airy. Workers are friendly and sociable. There was a bit of a line and the worker also told us it typically gets longer than that so be prepared to wait! We got the rose matcha and this is where the -1 star comes in. There was no floral hint in my matcha. And it was a little watered down for my liking. I prefer earthy, vibrant matcha. This felt diluted. We also asked for water because it was so hot and their water was warm which was a bummer because we just wanted to freshen up a little before we walked around North Park. Overall a cute place to visit, but not one I would drive to for their matcha. read more

Yummyyyy!! I ordered the Bodhi Boy Matcha, which is basically a lavender flavor and it was absolutely delicious. For reference, it basically tastes like Stsrbucks but 100 percent fresher and better. The homemade lavender syrup is to die for. Bodhi Boy Matcha w/ whole milk: 10/10 No complaints Pistachio cream Chia Bowl: 8/10 Pretty good but a bit on the sweeter side. Fig and Cheese Danish: 7/10 Fig isn't my fav but this wasn't bad. Sausage and egg breakfast sandwich: 6.5/10 Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, but the addition of the maple syrup made it a bit too sweet for me. The space itself is beautiful very clean, minimal, and aesthetically pleasing, making it a great spot to sit, relax, or even get some work done. The atmosphere feels calm and curated, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design and overall vibe. The drinks were good, but not necessarily memorable for the price point. My latte had nice presentation and decent flavor, but it didn't quite stand out compared to other specialty coffee spots. Could easily pass as an extension of the Pigment shop next door. Petite retail section with scented oils, and snacks. I was quite impressed with the selection of drinks, which reads like an extensive zero-proof cocktail menu. I had an Evergreen Parke, matcha, minty with the richness of vanilla, which was very tasty. Yep, it's $7.50 for these 'Top Shelf' matcha drinks. This is probably a splurge for many, but it's worth a try. The bodhi boy matcha was delicious and I'm excited to come back to try other menu items!! Their matcha is not hand whisked, they are shaken together in batches. The matcha flavor profile was nutty and smooth, without much astringency or umami. Sugar was on the sweeter side, but not overwhelming. Honestly I did not taste much lavender flavor. Regardless, it tasted amazing and it was a 9/10 in my books. One of the best in SD, although very pricey.
