I always shop at this location , sometimes I pick the items which have been marked down with a red tag reduced label, there is a cashier whose is a mature lady obviously of their long served staff by the name of Laurie yesterday for the second time she was questioning me about the price reduction label legitimacy implying that I put the label on the mechanize. Which was disrespectful , customer doesn't have those labels sometimes you guy stick two of those labels for example on the front and back of a bread still she accuses indirectly the customer if it's been put on it by the customer. This is unacceptable to me who is been shopping there for the last 12 years If someone picks up a bread with those labels doesn't mean she is dealing with a homeless or poor person to humiliate them by silly mean suspicious questions. So ordered a few items today for a get together I'm having tonight. I ordered it for pick up at 11. Got a VM a little before that that it was not ready. Disregard any emails that said it was ready and that they would call me. Never received a phone call. Got another email an hour after my pick up time saying it was ready. I finished up my other errands in the area and marked myself is on my way when I had one errand left. Finish that errand and ran over to the parking lot and checked in on the app. I sat there and sat there and sat there. Finally, I called the number that left a voicemail to see if maybe the app wasn't working. Mark answered the phone not helpful not nice. Let me know that I need to make sure that I do things the way he likes them done. Otherwise I'm gonna wait. This is not the first time that Mark has been rude to me or expected me to rearrange my life to accommodate him. He really should not be allowed to represent Ralphs with the general public. So let's get to my order. I ordered 2 bouquets of flowers so that it would be an extra full arrangement. Both were completely molded and rotting. Out of the tub bouquets I've got one stem of Gerber daisies two carnations and two roses. It is the saddest little bouquet in the world. Definitely not the vibe I was going for it might get together. Came to this location at around 12:35am right before closing on Wednesday 9/23. They had a section closed off already which I didn't think too much of it until I realized that the feminine pads I needed was in that section, already closed. I asked one of the employees to see if they'd be able to open it, but declined. I get that they closed it off to avoid people stealing but it's not cool having something like feminine pads in a section where it's closed off. If they have that closed off already during late night hours, I think a resolution could be to at least offer to grab the item requested on behalf of the customer. read more

Went on a saturday. You store the motorized carts. When first entering the store , I could instantly see how crowded it was , and not easy to navigate the aisles. What I came in this Ralph suck out 5 years ago.It was not this overloaded with aisles and stands of stuff blocking everywhere. I tried to go to the\nFresh meat and seafood deli and there was a clearance table in front of the meet and seafood deli counter. There was no way I could maneuver to get in there to see anything. I left the store feeling very frustrated and overwhelmed because it was very difficult to get around. After checking out , I asked for the manager. He told me " oh yeah, we only put those clearance tables out on the weekends." For disabled people , or even people dealing with crowds or sensory overload , this place was too much. read more

It seems about every three years we need to give a shout out about our neighborhood store. It's always clean, and has helpful folks both at the registers and on the floor. My favorite place these days is still the meat department, and the other day "Ulises" came up and cut a special piece of meat for us into sections so that it would be easier to cook. It's a big store, they've got everything crammed into the space, done a good job there. Certain things will bother you: Toiletries/Bathroom products are cordon off in special section due to shoplifting homeless and no homeless. They do have security wandering the store to get the stragglers - but I'm going there to shop, not look over my shoulder all the time. Produce can be a problem here - several times I have purchased things like apples, oranges, even garlic - rotten on the inside. To add insult to injury, the cashier helping with self checkout LOST MY DRIVERS LICENSE when scanning it when purchasing alcohol. After telling me she "gave it back to me" I had to frantically search the store for it. GUESS WHERE IT WAS? - in her apron pocket. I shop here weekly, use self scan and try not to bother the employees. I pressed the wrong buttons on the self scan and needed the employee to clear it. She came back as I was paying. If there's no line I like to use up the change that makes my purse heavy. She was SO impatient and rude. Ralphs does get kudos for the convenience especially with reduced prices on some name-brand vegan items I usually see at pricier health food stores. I've found fresh fruits for .99 and even dried fruits like figs, dates, and apricots. Compared to health foods stores there are some cons with limited selection of organic produce. Tropical fruits like mangoes, papayas, and dragon fruit are often overpriced and not the best quality so you're better off shopping at Asian stores like Zion and H Mart. *See my Yelp review for Zion Customer service is a hit or miss per usual! Some staff are friendly while others look miserable. Overall, there's room for improvement in terms of attitude and basic courtesy. A smile or greeting can go a long way and change your shopping experience. Positivity never hurts people. Pro Tip: There is a few shelf racks at the back of the store with miscellaneous sale items from vitamins, snacks to bathroom necessities. Verdict: 3.5 stars for the convenience close to work. Since all of America's supermarket chains are roughly the same, with prices varying +- 20% for any given week/product, I've never found it useful to have a favorite. Online ordering (a modern innovation) and curbside pickup (a COVID-19 blessing) have made buying from several places in a day practical. I update my household inventory, mark up my shopping list, open a half-dozen browser windows, shop my list at each of the big boys, then drive by and pick up my winnings. I regularly shop at Walmart Neighborhood Market; Sam's Club; Von's; Amazon; Vine Ripe; Aldi; and Vien Dong #4; but I'm a longtime fan of the Kroger/Ralph's/King Soopers/Food 4 Less family of grocery stores. As a general matter, the chain's warehouses stock excellent produce, the stores' meatcutters know their products, and I can count on Ralphs, especially, to carry the middle-to-high-end products that I prefer to use in my schmancier cooking. From obscure BelGioioso cheeses and De Cecco pasta shapes, to premium fruit and vegetables, to the annual Hatch Chile roasting in the store's parking lot, I usually find what I want at the Friars-Mission Center Ralphs, or the College Area store on Montezuma Rd. read more

Absolutely ridiculous and will never give them my business again. I used to order from Vons but moved close to this Ralph's so figured it made more sense to order from them. WRONG. After several attempts to order with the system blocking the order and speaking with the service department for this issue it once, not twice, but 3 times. I should have known at that point to go back to Vons but for some reason I tried again, the order was excepted. THEN cancelled for no reason on their end and hour before the scheduled delivery. I've used the pickup service in the past and to be fair, sometimes it only takes a minute for someone to come out with my groceries. Tonight was a different story. Two hours later... nothing. I placed an order on the app two days prior to pickup. I clicked "on my way" which prompted a call from the store that they would likely be 10-15 minutes late. I was willing to wait, so I pulled in and clicked the "I'm here" button. I then received a second call saying the delay would be another 45 minutes. A young woman moments later came out to say the same thing. She promised they'd call me if I wanted to come back later. They had my dinner and I was already hungry, so I waited patiently. No exaggeration needed, it was an hour and 40 minutes from when I first arrived that the next call came in saying my order was ready. I sat in the parking lot 25 minutes after that call continuing to watch other people receive their orders before I gave up and left. The whole ordeal was over two hours and I never received my food. I also never received another call, never received a text, never received an apology, never received an explanation... I want to be fair and state that this has not always been my experience. At the same time, the selection inside the store seems more limited as of late. Items that used to regularly be there are now regularly missing. And now this... This once reliable store seems to be on a decline. read more

This place is a mess. I was looking for a particular item and asked on person and she said the aisle and location. Not there. It was supposed to be in the aisles they have blocked off. The kid working at the cashier had no clue. The lazy fat @$$ manager actually ran away when he saw me coming to ask for info about the item! On the way out I wanted coffee and the fool working at the Starbuck's kiosk didn't pay attention and didn't know how to work the cash register/scanner...I ran out to the Starbuck's store next door and had no problem whatsoever. How do any of the fools in that place keep a job? This one and the Ralph's in Hillcrest are the two worst supermarkets I've ever been to. I don't usually review major chain grocery stores, but I recently went to this Ralphs and had some major grocery store envy. The Ralphs in my current neighborhood is nowhere near this nice, so this review compares this Ralphs with other Ralphs grocery stores, or similar chain grocery stores. This is the Ralphs near where I used to live. In fact, I lived so close by, that I was likely there every other day. Anyway, a couple weeks ago, I was going to an appointment nearby on a weekday morning and I I was surprised walking in and seeing all of the improvements since when I lived there. The store, even years ago, had a great seafood department, as well as the Murray's Cheese Store, but now the floral and bakery sections have all grown as well. I walked in, looking for some lunch items, Valentine candy to bring to work, and a few other small things. Perhaps it was the fact that I walked in when they weren't busy, but the staff was super friendly and everyone was staying good morning to me. The floral section looked like it had exploded Valentine's Day... it was huge and festive. The bakery had lots of hot, fresh items. The Valentine's candy session had many more opptions than the Ralphs where I shop these days. On top of that, it was clean and orderly. I don't get to this Ralphs much anymore. Hopefully, the one in my neighborhood will undergo some of these changes. read more

I'm extremely disappointed by the unprofessional treatment I received at this Ralphs location. I arrived at the store 25 minutes before the posted closing time of 1:00 AM, needing a single item for the next morning. To my surprise, the security guard stopped me at the entrance and said the store was closed. When I questioned this--pointing out that it was well before closing--he told me the manager didn't want to let anyone else in. I asked to speak with the manager, Cecilia Lopez, who refused to come to the front and instead relayed the message through the guard that they were no longer letting customers in. I understand that certain areas come with challenges, but to deny entry well before closing time, with no signage or courtesy explanation, felt lazy, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. This is not how you treat paying customers. If store hours are going to be disregarded by staff, they should be updated officially. Otherwise, your team should be held accountable for turning away customers without reason. Ralphs is a community store, and experiences like this break customer trust. Clean and well-stocked. Lots of options for a quick bite before shopping. Busy but ample parking lot.

Why is it that I can get in and out of a Trader Joes with a full cart in ten minutes, but it can take me almost an hour to get everything I need from Ralphs? I honestly want to understand this. Yes, Ralphs is a lot bigger, but it often feels like the aisles aren't that intuitive. That might be intentional, but they can have you exploring the whole store just to get the two items you need- which ultimately leads you to buying more than you wanted. My favorite thing about Ralphs is the fresh deli meat. I absolutely love getting fresh carved meat. They also have great deli sides like a good mac salad and deviled egg salad. Parking lot can be crazy at peak times, but there are a lot of spots. For some reason though, there is always a lot of traffic. Just be patient and calm. read more

TL;DR: Years of good business, today Tino made me proud that this is my grocery store :) Been shopping here for my grocery needs for years and always had a decently pleasant experience. But today was overly pleasant and it is special thanks to one employee: Tino. He was stocking produce this morning and during his workload he still took the little extra effort to wish a good morning to the customers who were going about their day. Such a friendly extra really stood out to me and made me feel better about my otherwise mundane shopping experience. And Tino wasn't just friendly, he was knowledgeable and helpful. I was looking for some mint and the location I first looked at was out of stock. So I asked him and he was able to immediately and clearly direct me to another section where I could find some. There's like 70 people in line, clearly you don't valuable anyone's time enough to even take their money. You even have half the self checkouts closed because you have no one to run them? Place closes a 1am I arrived at 12:42pm and the security said the manager on duty told him to not let any one in they close the doors at 12:40am. I asked to speak to the manager, I was told she said she was unavailable. She was doing accounting. It was me and another Black person turned away by Mexican Managers and a white security guard. My actual rating is less than one star but Yelp doesn't give that option. They should!!! My wife purchased 4 gift cards, including a Home Depot gift card at this Ralph's (5680 Mission Center Rd, San Diego, CA) on 12/11/2025. The Home Depot card was part of a gift I received on Christmas Day. On January 5, 2026, I attempted to make a purchase at Home Depot using the gift card. I scanned the card and was directed to scratch off the back to reveal the PIN. I did but there was no PIN. A Home Depot manager looked up the card number and informed me the card had been used on 12/16/2025 at HomeDepot.com. He directed me to call customer service and Home Depot would likely replace the card for me. I did that. Next, my wife tried calling the Ralph's Store to make them aware their gift cards had been compromised. She called several times. Each time, the phone rang several times before cutting her off. I then drove to the store for the same purpose. I asked for the manager and was told she was working register 11. Unfortunately, I did not get her name. I walked to that register and told the bag boy I need to speak to the manager. She turned and asked what I needed as she rang up a customer in line. I held up the gift card and she asked, "What, a return?" I replied, "No. A bad gift card purchased in your store". She rolled her eyes and returned to ringing up the customer. After ringing up two additional customers, she then walked over to me and asked what I needed. I explained that the card was purchased on 12/11/2025 and was used on 12/16/2025 before I ever received it. She cut me off and told me they are not responsible for replacing bad gift cards. I told her I was not there for that. I was there to make her aware that either an employee had used the card (at this point she rudely cut me off and told me her employees would't do that) or a scammer had compromised the gift cards. She emphatically told me that was not possible because she checks them on a regular basis. I told her it obviously was possible because the Home Depot gift card my wife purchased had been miraculously used 9 days before I received it. I told her it was her responsibility to protect her customers. As soon as I said the word responsibility, she began shaking her head no. I again told her my only purpose in coming there was to make her aware that someone was compromising her gift cards. She asked if that was all. I said yes and she sarcastically said, "Have a nice day" as she walked back to her register. She made it quite clear that she really didn't care if compromised gift cards were sold in her store. If I based my decision solely on my interaction with her, I'd never shop in that store again. read more
