This is a shoutout to Timothy at the Starbucks inside Ralphs. He was friendly & when we complimented the font on his name tag, he went ahead & personalized my daughter's name on her cup. We got a vanilla bean & it was perfect! Sometimes it's made a bit unflavored but Timothy made it just right! The Starbucks is inside the Ralph's which is perfect to grab a drink before grocery shopping. Overall kudos to Timothy for putting a smile on my daughter's face. Well Compared to other grocery stores Ralph's is like Vons or Albertsons . It carries all sorts of groceries and lots of different types of sodas other grocery stores would not have . I like coming to Ralphs because there prices are decent and very comparable to Vons and make sure you sign up for there Ralphs Rewards card because those savings will add up and with a Ralphs Card you get that extra savings . Also Ralphs carries Hot Wheels and their selection is pretty decent . Well Shopping at this Ralph's it was kind of hard to find help but I typically help myself and there is a Self Checkout also at this location . It is located next to Target and Dicks Sporting Goods on Sports Arena Blvd . Parking never a Problem and overall It is just like all other Grocery Stores but Service can improve though . I was looking for the Hoffy Hollywood hot dog stand hot dogs. They didn't have them. There was a large pack of Nathan's with I reduced sticker on them. It was a great price so I grabbed them. I got my receipt and it seemed really high. I got home and checked. I got charged $15 for the hot dogs. I pull the pack out and the reduced tag was gone. I went back and the lady that checked me out handled the refund. She was the manager. I told her what happened. She said I switched tags on the hot dogs so she took it off and charged me full price without even telling me. I have spent over $100,000 at this location since I've lived in the area. And to be accused of trying to steal is the ultimate disrespect. This lady should not be a manager accusing people of trying to steal with zero proof. And to remove the tag at checkout and not say anything at the time of checkout. This person should not be in charge of getting carts much less be a manager. Shopping there at times is the most unpleasant experience when checking out. There are some clerks who are very unprofessional, rude and lack people skills have been harassed several times in the last couple weeks at self checkout Use common sense as a couple of these clerks are watching the wrong people. Did you get this? Did you get that? Did you pay for this? Do you pay for that? Before checkout. I grabbed. What I thought was Krispy Kreme chocolate doughnut. 4. As I read the label and just grabbed the four donuts. Well, somebody at the store had the labels incorrect with the chocolate doughnuts and the maple donuts When I saw this finally I asked a female in the bakery if I should throw these away as I thought they were the chocolate donuts. Communicating the labels are wrong. When checking out older lady with glasses states we got a call that you're eating the donuts in the back. What??? Seriously the accusations in being accused is so unprofessional and unacceptable. I communicated go look at the cameras and you tell me if I'm eating donuts. Don't blame me that I grabbed four maple donuts by accident because you have the labels wrong. That is a store issue take accountability. Crazy how much a couple of bad apples are right over your shoulder, thinking you're gonna steal when you have tons of homeless roaming the isles, eating food off the shelves and stealing. I've been a high school teacher for 18 years and these clerks are treating me like I am stealing. It's the most unpleasant experience as a customer, and I hope Robert and whoever his supervisors are could change this. The next time a clerk is doing this to me he I am going off. I doubt the higher ups at Ralph's will read this, but here it goes. I had to return a bad goat cheese log and a small box of organic raspberries that were moldy. I had the receipt for the ten dollar cheese but not for the berries. If you look up my account, you can plainly see that I just bought the berries. The manager, Gigi Gonzales, was completely unprofessional about returning the bad items. She refused to return the berries. I have been a regular customer here for 10 years. I'm not a Karen either. This store has a ton of problems with people stealing, etc. She could have at least swapped out the bad box of raspberries with a fresh one. I purchased dry ice and 3 of the employees were not aware of how dangerous it could be. They were clueless, as to how long, they were supposed to touch it. When you travel with an 18 month old sometimes you go to a store because you're familiar with what they offer and probably have what you need. That said it's not like any Ralph's I've ever visited...it's massive and it has an extensive housewares area...why wouldn't one buy their Keurig or other kitchen tools here ? Still has the slowest checkout lines in San Diego. No matter what time of day you come to this place (9 AM on a Tuesday, 1 PM on a Thursday, etc.) it takes at minimum 15 minutes of waiting in line before you even start to get checked out. Today, Tuesday at 10:45 AM I waited in line for 20 minutes to have a cashier check me out. During my wait the cashiers from both self checkouts proclaimed that there was no wait and stood around watching as their fellow cashiers worked nonstop. No attempts were made by the 3 self check employees waiting around to even help speed up the lines of 3-5 carts deep at the 2 open check out lanes. I know self checkout is there to save store's money; however, what is the point of staffing TWO empty self checkout areas that were not being utilized. It is astonishing that Ralph's has continued to operate this way for the 4 years I have lived in the area. Many times I have chosen not to go to this store due to the wait times and poorly managed store protocols and routines. Maybe it's time for them to get stronger management read more

I have been a consistent Ralph's customer for years (and Smith's when I was in Nevada, if that counts). And, this is the first negative review I have left for any business EVER. Both Ralphs and other stores like Target that are adopting the practice of keeping hygienics locked up and inaccessible will be losing my business. Now you have to separately check out at the hygienics area from the normal check out area. While I understand that this is due to shoplifting issues, there are so many problems with this. There are COUNTLESS more expensive products than a thing of tooth paste or deodorant that are not locked up in the store, but the products people may actually need in a dire situation are the ones the business is specifically targeting. To me, it's also a little offensive to its customer base. I also come here on my lunch break to get groceries, and the additional time required to go to separate checkouts is inconvenient. I'm leaving this review in hopes that Ralph's will learn that while they may be saving money on some tubes of tooth paste, they will be losing lifelong customers who purchase way more than that. Trader Joe's has gained a lifelong customer. And, if I REALLY need name brand toothpaste, I will be ordering it online. Thanks! read more

I do grocery delivery services so I come in here often and every single time I come into this specific location I have received extreme attitude from the workers at the cashiers. It is very strange. They are always making faces and being extremely rude. This morning I came in and they had none of the lanes open so every one was only allowed to go through self check out. I had 30 items and when I finally finished ringing everything up and bagging things myself I went to pay and an associate told me I wasn't allowed to go through self check out and they have to open a lane and ring everything up again. She then takes everything and brings it to a lane for another lady to ring up and the lady was giving SO much attitude. She was laughing at me, making faces, and when I went over to the lane with my groceries she gave me attitude and just stared at me. I went in again tonight and had a male cashier and the same thing, so much attitude from him. I needed help getting something from the front shelves because they're locked and after I scanned the item I told him it takes 60 seconds before I can check out. He then gave me so many dirty looks and just stood there staring and giving me attitude. Both times I did not engage and just smiled and said thank you and went about my day afterwards. But some of the workers here just really need to have a kinder attitude because it is frustrating when I come in and am met with dirty looks and grumpy rude attitudes. read more

I arrived at 12:45 a.m. and the doors were closed. I looked at the security guard through the glass and pointed at my watch. Finally, he cracked the doors open and said that they want the doors closed at 12:45 a.m. THEN WHY DOES IT STATE OPEN TILL 1 A.M. ON THE SIGN NEAR THE DOOR AND ON YOUR WEBSITE? IF THE STORE CLOSES THE DOORS AT 12:45, THE SIGN AND THE WEBSITE NEED TO REFLECT THE CORRECT TIME, SO PEOPLE LIKE ME DON'T DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ONLY TO BE TURNED AWAY. My wife and I are from out of town and were visiting the Ralphs at 3345 Sports Arena Blvd San Diego at around 4:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon (March 11/25). We wanted sliced deli meat and asked the server, Angel (no last name on name tag) to give us 1/2 a pound of the chicken. Angel says "I cannot slice the meat for you". I was confused and asked him, why not. His response was "Because I will be getting off in an hour and I need to clean up in the back". So I'm thinking to myself, Is this my problem? I'm a customer who wants deli meats and you're standing there and telling me that you can't serve me? This was such a customer-unfriendly service that my wife and I just looked at each other in a bewildered way, shook our heads and walked away. I have autism and partially disabled, I go early morning or later at night, no crowds. Easier for me. I'm a biz owner, always dressed nicely, always saying hi. And because I refused to stand there in my autistic nightmare mortified in public by a bully, I nearly teared up and walked out, hearing her mocking me as I left. She certainly counted my items again and saw I had no extra item. she could've used my rewards information to contact me and apologize. Two weeks now. Had it been a man, I'd have knocked him on his ass. How dare her. If I sue Ralph's, I will also sue her personally. This store has let the worst of people determine how they treat all of us. This was one of the nicest grocery stores I've been in since I moved to San Diego in 2003. It was so well laid out, well lit, beautifully organized with an abundant amount of products. You can tell the management is good there. I wish I would have taken pictures of it because it was just so well decorated and even the floral area was exceptional. I have been here before but this time was especially pleased with the selection of kombucha and zero sugar waters along with the fresh produce. This store is really set apart by the size and extensive selection - still at regular Ralph's prices. Bakery department and deli have a lot of different items to choose from. They have a whole aisle of chips - And the aisles are really long ! Prices are same as any Ralph's. This store is very clean and well stocked with a great variety of items. I've got three Ralph's Grocery stores on my circuit... what can I say, I generally like them far better than any of the other big chains. They've got big variety, fresh produce, really nice seafood and meat counters and great hot deli section with always hot from the oven rotisserie chickens. This store however, is my least favorite of the three in my area. The layout is really strange. I don't feel like the products are arranged in a flow that makes sense. Their cheese counter, or lack there of, is lame compared to the other two. And what is up with the weird gates/fence once you get inside the store?! Store is fairly nice inside and the employees are great. They also have the cheapest and nicest lemongrass in Point Loma. I go here less and less for two reasons. 1. Bum situation is out of control. They hang out right outside stinking and smoking cigarettes and weed. While they smoke, they blast rap music from their cell phones. See pic. They also try to come in all the time. Usually security stops them, but not always. Then you have entire aisles smelling strongly of stale urine and BO. 2. Annoying use of "online coupons" on price tags.
