Beautiful

Flourist wasn't available when I arrived but I still managed to grab a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses, wrapped with a tie. Service was excellent and quick. The place was clean and organized. Their fresh food looks appealing but I wasn't there for the food. I'll be back again. Thanks Larry for the help!

Rotten fish

I want to warn people about the seafood here. My boyfriend has gone to this Gelson's multiple times to buy fish, and more than once we've gotten fish that was clearly rotten. In the display case it often looks fine at first glance, but when you get it home you can see that the fish appears to be flipped so the better-looking side faces up while the other side is spoiled. We've had fish that smelled bad, felt slimy, and was clearly not fresh. Sometimes we eat it and sometimes we give it to our dogs, and it has made us feel sick before. I didn't want to believe a store like this would sell fish in that condition, but after it happening multiple times, it's very concerning. See the photos below for examples of the spoiled fish we received. Separately, I've been shopping at this location for over four years and had a very uncomfortable interaction with one of the cashiers. She asked me a personal question about my sister even though I've told her before that I don't have a relationship with my sister and that it's not something I want to discuss. After I told her again that I don't have a relationship with my sister and didn't know why she was asking, she responded by saying she was sorry and that she had confused me with someone else who was pregnant. That comment felt very inappropriate and rude. It was surprising that after seeing me regularly for years, she would both confuse me with someone else and make a comment like that. Between the repeated issues with the seafood quality and the uncomfortable customer service interaction, I no longer feel comfortable shopping here.

5 Stars for Gelson's!!!! One of my favorite things to do is stop by Gelson's after the gym and get some Grass-Fed Kefir and a Grapefruit. Everybody that works at the store is always so friendly and patient in answering any questions I may have. It's really nice having such a great grocery store located so close to the beach.

This Gelson's location is pretty small. There is a parking lot and usually parking available. There is a bakery, a deli and a butcher. I was able to easily find employees who were very generous with their time to support my quest for specialty items for my charcuterie board. I got a lot of fancy cheese!

This is a great grocery store. I don't live in the neighborhood, but came here specifically for the Impossibe food products. This was the closest location that had them. There was a lot of prepared meals and a poke bar. The poke was good although it wasn't high quality tuna. They also had a large assortment of cheese and different types of fresh pasta. The store is small which I really liked, well organized, and not crowded. Service was excellent and a couple of the customers knew the employees by name and were having friendly conversations. The employees were polite and welcoming.

They say this place is expensive, I finally realized it. However, they have a select few unique items that always bring me back. Staff is super friendly. Good tasty yummy pie options. Store is rarely bz bz

Location, location, location!!! Upstairs outside with a perfect view of the beautiful ocean! A cool sea breeze.....Excellent gin & tonics.....& nachos. I have to say I think the drinks were better than the nachos. They were just your usual bar nachos. ‍ but sitting outside with that view having a cocktail laughing with the people out there, including my sister really was a great time. The waiters were great & very attentive. It's definitely a place I would go back to again and again.

Coming back to send my love to my favorite sub place…read more I've sadly moved to a different part of town so Fatboy's is no longer a few blocks away. I still try to stop by every few months as this place holds a special place in my heart. A no frills spot. Solid and consistent. To the point but friendly customer service. Fantastic drink, chip and snack selection. Sandwiches are always bomb asf. The hot momma and BLT loaded up is my favorite. My husband still loves their Ruben (it is his favorite place to get it.) You get a small potato or macaroni salad on the side with a pickle (perfect crunch.) I personally think it's a great little add on. Their chili is also simple but delicious. I personally think their chili pairs perfectly with any of their sandwiches. It's not a heavy thick chili. Which is why I think it pairs so well. I won't lie it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It's loaded up and good quality. I never feel gross or overly bloated after eating here. I will be coming back to Fatboy's until I move out of San Diego or die. lol. One of my favorite gems in SD. Always will be worth the drive or walk. Thank you for always delivering even years later.

I used to frequent Fatboy's because it was close and convenient for a long time, but I am rarely able to visit anymore... parking is a bigger challenge every day in North Park, and finding even a 15-minute spot takes way longer than the drive for me now (but the walk is too far to pick up a quick meal). Today I was down the street for something else so decided to order a sandwich. I was excited, then my jaw dropped when I saw the price increases. It's $18 for the North Park Club now, with no extras. I already had a hard time justifying $15 for a sandwich but I'm officially, 100% priced out now. I know it's not necessarily on the business owners; rent is exorbitant in NP, profit margins are small in the food service industry, and operating costs are high. Our city is eating itself alive, but thank you for the years of sandwiches!

I'm pleased to report that Beyer Deli was everything you said it was. Thanks Yelpers!…read more Now that's a sandwich! The hours may be a little skimpy, but the meats are bountiful...pause. A little off the beaten path...yes Selective hours while you're probably working...yeah Worth an extended lunch to grab one of these sandos...Absolutely! Dena and the crew are putting together some seriously delicious and well-thought-out, stacked sandos. While you won't be getting a footlong roll, the sizable portion of fillings makes for an excellent meat to bread ratio. And speaking of bread, while most of the sandwiches come on a fresh torta roll, you also have your choice of sourdough, wheat, rye, squaw, French roll, wrap, or croissant. Now that's wassup. What I tried on this visit: The New Yorker and The Italian Both sandwiches were absolutely fire. I started with the Italian and the first thing I noticed was the beautiful, shimmering, thinly sliced red onion. The shine on the veggies immediately let me know they were perfectly dressed with oil and vinegar. Upon separating the two halves to reveal the innards, layers upon layers of freshly sliced meats were waiting to be devoured. First bite...ecstasy. Not only were the veggies dressed, they were also seasoned. The combination of the flavorful proteins, tasty veggies, and fluffy torta, were a HIT! This sandwich was juicy in all the right ways. My only wish is that I would have substituted the American cheese with more provolone or swiss. Moving on to The New Yorker...Hello Pastrami!! Bomb, bomb, bomb. Both the corned beef and the pastrami were smackin' on this hot sando. Wonderfully tender, lean, flavorful proteins were packed inside this torta for absolute deliciousness. I wish I had one right now. The only thing that would have made this better was some horseradish mustard. Along with sandwiches there are breakfast items including bagels and a burrito, salads, soups, chips, and a famous brownie. Unfortunately, the brownies were sold out by the time I arrived, but I'll definitely pick one up the next time they're available. Great pickles, free parking, a few outside tables, and some inside seating rounds out the experience. Call ahead to minimize the wait. Thanks Dena and crew! I'll be back!!!

They do sell out of some, though, so if you want some of the soup, you need to get here before dinner. Lunch availability for soups is generally best mid-morning to mid-day. Try the clam chowder. Yum with a capital Y-U-M. Chicken noodle is also excellent. Great beer selection in their refrigerated case. Look carefully, as you may miss something you really would like to try. Many local craft breweries available, but if you want the national brands, they have those too. Excellent service from the kitchen staff and the checkout staff. It was THAT good. The crust was perfectly crispy, the toppings were the perfect amount, and they were spread out so every bite had the right combination. And the flavor?! Oh my God. But here's what really got me: there was absolutely NO greasy, gooey mess. Nothing soggy, nothing weighed down with cheese or oil. That's what kept the crust so perfectly crisp all the way through. It was just really, really well-made pizza. And an 18-inch pizza was only $27, with HUGE slices. Seriously, what a deal. Ordering online was super easy, and it was ready in less than 30 minutes. We picked it up and basically couldn't stop talking about how good it was. Hands down, the best pizza we've had in this area. This one is going into the rotation. And at $27 for an 18-inch? We typically go to Iowa Farms since it's close to us and we're familiar with the location. We love getting the potato salad and bbq baked beans (prepackaged) sides there when we stop in, but if you're not early on the weekend, they usually run out. So we decided since we'd be in the Bay Park area, we'll check out the original location, Siesel's. Glad we did! I wanted to make a slow cooker brisket one weekend, so it was perfect. Siesel's is a bit larger than Iowa Farms and feels a bit more open. Same great cow awaiting outside the store. But they have a whole deli counter with all the sides plus more! They didn't have any ready made prepackaged bbq baked beans, it was better, made fresh daily and we were able to get as much as we wanted at the deli counter. They also have several different Siesel's signature potato salads and pasta salads that aren't offered prepackaged at Iowa farms, which I absolutely love! My favs are the Asiago pasta and deviled egg potato salad. We also decided to try their Tri-tip sandwich made to order at the deli and it was delicious! Fluffy bun piled high with Tri-tip covered in bbq sauce and have the option to add cheese and anything else. Love it! Staff is always very helpful. Parking lot can get full on the weekends, and they can run out of the pre-prepared meats in the front counter, but make sure to ask if there's any more in the back or they may be able to prepare some for you! We'll definitely be back! Until next time! :) Simply the best! Series: 17 2026: 34
