So many of the juice bars/acai bowl places that opened in Carmel Valley have been closing! Jamba just closed - Everbowl is now only in Pacific Highlands Ranch. So I remembered... good old Jimbo's also has a juice bar! They make it easy to "build your own smoothie" and it was super tasty. I would have liked the option to have 24 oz and not just 16 oz but it was easy, breezy, affordable and tasty. I came at 8:30 pm and they were taking away a lot of the hot food, and the take out fridge was cleaned out of a lot of stuff (like egg salad). I might have gotten soup otherwise too. But they have the dry farmed tomatoes right now, which are always delicious and they weren't crazy expensive. Will come back again! read more

What a super experience going to Jimbo's on Carmel Mt. Road. We were new to the store, and wanted to learn more about the 'dairy' products as we heard there was a wide selection. "Byron," the manager, took the time to show us the different kinds of cheeses and then he followed me over to the dairy case for more milk and butter products, as my husband checked out the meat counter. Byron's 10+years of experience was clearly evident and his giving us the behind the scenes look at the meat department was most informative, too. Ultimately, the steaks and ground beef were proven to be the most delicious we have found in the San Diego area! We also loved the layout of the store which was super clean and well-stocked with a fresh variety of food and health conscious supplies. read more

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. It's not often you will find a staff member who will happily search to see if they have an item in stock for a unique item, take the time to look, and provide alternatives. It is pricey, but it's a great place to go for specialty or high quality organic items. The quality of the items from the meat and cheese counters are too notch. read more

PS I asked an employee if you have to buy something to use the restroom, they said yes. So your corporate response doesn't match what the employees did. Also, there was only one employee available to talk to, I asked are you an employee she said yes I can help you - very inconvenient if someone needs to go urgently. Not to mention, it's embarrassing if they need to interrupt someone checking out, saying i need to go badly lol. Change your doors to NO code with receipt only and maybe more people will want to shop there, bc it's very uninviting and inconvenient for older people and people with health conditions/disabilities especially, pregnant women, or people whose first language isn't English and they need to use it urgently. I know about the upstairs restrooms - like i said, nobody could pinpoint where it was and it was hard to find. you had to walk to the back of one of the corners and inside another very dimly lit food hall to get in - very inconvenient, and it almost feels like you're trespassing bc ur not eating there. People with bad vision or again physical limitations likely would have issues finding it, or getting up those stairs. The elevator is far away too and god forbid it breaks down while they need to go to the restroom. It is just absolutely insane a food establishment and plaza would want to create barriers to people using the restroom. You'd think they'd want that to be as seamless and easy as possible, like every other grocery store chain in existence except in NYC. This isn't NYC or downtown LA lol. read more

Excellent upscale grocery store in San Diego that compares against stores like Sprouts and Whole Foods. Prices are definitely on the higher end as expected of a place like this but you get excellent quality produce in return, no doubt about that. We picked up opah fillets, ribeye steaks, pumpkin pies, fall apple cider and more for a home-made Thanksgiving feast. Worth a stop for sure especially when other seafood markets in the area are out of more exotic fish like opah. read more

I shop at this Jimbo's every day. The produce is unmatched, the salad bar is excellent, and most of the staff are professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. But there is one glaring exception at the supplement counter named Lisa. She's the older lady with the grey hair. Her behavior is openly hostile, dismissive, and completely out of step with the standards this store claims to uphold. I've asked her simple product questions to help me find MSM powder and silica and she responded with an exaggerated "what" and "huh" as if I were speaking another language. This wasn't confusion. It wasn't a hearing issue. It was deliberate contempt, and she made no effort to hide it. Today, I watched her respond loudly and cheerfully to someone calling out to her from across the parking lot. No hearing problem. No hesitation. This is not a misunderstanding. Her selective comprehension and cold dismissal of paying customers makes her a liability, not an asset. I shouldn't have to avoid an entire department just to escape one employee's ego. The other man who works in the supplements department is awesome and he had to take over to lead me to the products I was looking for. However, Lisa's behavior is an insult to your brand and the team members who actually do their jobs with integrity. It damages the reputation of the store, and it's unacceptable. Jimbo's has built its identity on trust, service, and quality. That image is shattered the moment someone like her is allowed to treat customers with open contempt. I will continue shopping here, but I expect this to be addressed. If not, I'll escalate this further. read more

It is home for me, I have hiked over Lapoutroie where the cheese is from countless times. And brebie rousse d'argental, goat cheese super tasty. Jimbo's Naturally selection is the stuff of my dreams. The ingredients are organic, clean, minimalistic. They carry a wide variety of tons of items I currently eat, or haven't discovered before but will be integrating into my diet. In San Diego, Jimbo's in Carmel Valley and Whole Foods in La Jolla are the two grocery brands I trust handsdown for my daily/weekly grocery checklists and also my spontaneous aisle runs. I often go here to buy multiple unopened cases of my Goji Pistachio Thunderbird bars, and I always scan the aisles to find new clean products that I want to stuff in my hospital scrub pockets. Today I discovered the San Diego Bars, and though it's not organic (wish it was!), I can't wait to try their minimalistic healthy bars. During my visit today, three separate employees assisted me with finding items, and all of them were professional and welcoming. The young man in a red plaid shirt demonstrated above and beyond service and led me to the product without me even asking, saving me both time and energy. As someone who's typically extremely busy, I appreciated his stellar customer service in making sure I efficiently got through the list. Sandra assisted me in checkout, and was efficient and professional. Another very special quality about our topnotch grocery stores here in San Diego is that they are truly connected and committed to the community. This truly shows in the way Jimbo's staff reflects the community around their stores -- I love seeing senior citizens I know around the community working behind Jimbo's counters. As a longtime resident of Carmel Valley, Jimbo's was a household name I heard over the years often for two reasons: 1) premiere, organic quality groceries, and 2) older neighbors around my community who proudly worked at Jimbo's spread the word about Jimbo's community-centric reputation. I admired that, and many years later, as a fully grown adult working full-time as a healthcare provider, I remember Jimbo's commitment to our local community by bringing my purchases when I'm in the area and those of my friends and colleagues to Jimbo's. I'm also proud to say my family is a longtime Jimbo's household for groceries, and I'm grateful they had healthy products that fueled my growing years. Now that I live and work in Los Angeles, I can only stock up at Jimbo's when I'm visiting the area, but it's always a treat. We love Jimbo's so much in my family that my mom even started working there recently, and I'm always interested to hear over the phone about how she adapts and grows within a supportive work environment. On a separate note, I'm currently working in the Los Angeles emergency departments during these recent LA wildfires and I want to give a special shoutout to Melody in Deli (and Jimbo's Naturally) as she donated all the items in her Jimbo's employee holiday voucher book to me when I drove down to San Diego, so I can donate all these awesome Jimbo's items to patients, community members, and healthcare workers directly impacted by the devastating wildfires. I went to explore this grocery store after visiting the Handel's ice cream. The store is similar to the Whole Food Market and pricier. They have variety of organic produce, meat and seafood, deli, bakery, and wellness items. They have variety of Vegan items which is a plus. They have hot and cold food bar, Signature Pizza, Juice Bar, Olive Bar, Grill station, and etc. They have small eating area for those who purchase food/drinks items. This review is only for the Jimbo's deli for lunch. I've shopped at Jimbo's before, but was surprised when meeting a friend for lunch that she suggested the grocery store. She said their deli was fantastic and she wasn't kidding - they have a plethora of choices! There are warm food bars, salad bar, freshly made organic pizzas, deli sandwiches, sides and more! I saw a veggy wrap that looked delicious and was only $5.99 (most pre-made sandwiches were around $10-11) but it had red pepper hummus and I don't like any kind of peppers. I was told they could make a wrap without it if I could wait a few minutes, which I gladly did and got exactly what I wanted. I ordered a pesto pasta salad for a side, which rounded out the meal nicely. The wrap was so large, I could only eat half so I got to enjoy it again the next day (see photo). The staff was super friendly, helpful and patient (especially since I was new to their deli experience). I'm looking forward to returning to try more options! read more

This review is for the 12841 'DEL MAR' Jimbo's for consistently have the most rude employees over many interactions. This store is like entering The Truman Show. I'm a Jimbo's expert, been going to each branch in San Diego since they have each opened. Decades. Im a regular at each one and people know me by name, except this one. THIS LOCATION is impossible to crack. This place ALWAYS has the worst service and management and it's evident. Every single human (10+) I've encountered working in this building has been downright snarky and rude, and I see it happening to other people in the store as well. I've been laughed at, snapped at, scoffed at, for literally NO REASON! I see it happening to other people too OFTEN and have had many conversations about it. It's like the movie Get Out actually, and the only normal person is the gentleman working in the beer aisle. Everyone else here seems like they are on a mission to be imbeciles to everyone that they see. I've said I'm never coming back, and I've even given them 3 more chances but no joke each time someone says some BS with an attitude. Is it the location bringing this ego among employees? Because at the end of the day it's just a grocery store. I drive 20 minutes to the 4S RANCH one instead and Carlsbad. Produce isn't any better than a Whole Foods. One thing I would never get is the store made chicken pot pie. I wandered through a few aisles but was ultimately glued to the floral section of the market. They had such beautiful fresh flowers. What really caught my attention were the stunning floral arrangements in cute mason jars for only $16.99! They were so fresh and so beautifully arranged! I can only comment on the flowers. Cashier was shockingly unhelpful this morning. I had never purchased bulk coffee here, and when I bagged it and brought it to the register, she noted I hadn't put a number on the bag. Well, I didn't see any numbers or clear instructions by the coffee, but I remembered the name- Talitha Arouse Blend. Cashier spent a couple seconds looking for it on her list. Then in a very irritated and annoyed voice, she said " So, WHAT IS IT? Grains? Nuts???" So I apologized and said no, it's coffee. But that made me pause and say to myself why am I apologizing to her??? She didn't ask me what it was in the first place, am I supposed to read her mind? Did I do something wrong assuming that she knew the names of her products? I told her Talitha -and there is only one Talitha coffee in bulk. So she looked at her list again and didn't find it. Then, she shoved the list AT ME, for ME to look!!! Wow. Then she told me "it would be faster if you just go and look for the number" in the most annoyed, irritated tone possible! At $25.99 per pound, she should be the one to go look or call for someone else to go look instead of rudely ordering me to do it. So I just decided to pass. Yucked my morning. It is located in a somewhat upscale plaza in Del Mar. love the product selections they have, and the prices seem cheaper than WF. They have a juicery corner, baked good section, pizza section, and their hot food section looks inviting. We will def come back to this location.. An added bonus is theres a Batch Box cookie place right by it, and looks like a variety of cuisines up in the Sky Box above Jimbo's ! They have everything you'd ever want from hot food, to smoothies, to a salad bar, hot food bar, soup, fresh juices, pizza, sushi, and more! I don't find myself at Jimbo's that often because I have a grocery store a lot closer. I do stop by whenever I am in the area or need an extra specific item. I have to say that after every visit, I leave feeling like my day is slightly uplifted. The service has been just amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I feel like the other customers are even happier and friendlier as a result of the welcoming environment. Go figure. I stopped by the bakery over the weekend and needed a dessert for a last minute event. The kind lady behind the counter was so helpful answering my questions and checking availability of items. She even offered a sample to me and my kids. I didn't know they did that. Chose the whole cake and when I went to the cashier nearby- continued friendliness; and nothing excessive to the point of fake. Very genuine, short, positive interactions. We have been here a few times and really do enjoy the bigger space and layout. SERVICE - We ordered a pizza to go and the man making our pizza was very kind! PIZZA - We got a basic pepperoni with bell peppers, spinach, and jalapeños. We love the pizza dough here as it was bit chewy. They usually make their pizzas crispy but this time with the whole pizza, it was a little softer so next time we would ask for a longer cook time. The veggies on the top were very fresh! This review refers to the Jimbo's grocery store in Del Mar. I have always enjoyed Jimbo's as I am able to find many healthy products that are not available in general grocery stores. The items they prepare themselves (roast chicken) are always cooked perfectly with no risk of germs, undercooking or overcooking. The flower arrangements are very inexpensive. I saw no evidence of increased prices for comparable items at common grocery stores. I gave 5 stars because of the woman who checked out my groceries. I am retired and have a chronic illness which I didn't communicate to the checker. I requested paper bags. Without asking, this woman packed my groceries very lightly. She didn't place the heaviest items in one bag but distributed them evenly. She realized that the price of the bags was irrelevant and used many bags. Other stores try to save me $.50 and pack bags to bursting. I will drive to this Jimbo's because of the intelligence of their employees and the kindness they are encouraged to show to customers.
