If any coffee shop in San Diego knows its stuff, it is Torque. An involved owner makes a difference in any business! You will walk in to beautifully packaged coffee on a shelf. Not only beautiful but great tasting too. I picked up their salted chocolate for enhance my coffee! Enjoy a cup of Joe and put some money into the unique vending machine onsite for a novel trinket to take home to remember your experience! #SanDiego #TorqueCoffee #SaltedChocolate #VendingMachine

I went to a free cupping here and really enjoyed the experience. It's great to see coffee shops having direct relationships to the growers. These guys are serious about their coffee. Pleasant people.

STEPH JUDGMENT: Artsy neighborhood coffee joint with friendly staff. We were visiting some friends in the area who are fans of this place and they told us that they were running anniversary specials so we decided to stop by. I got a free anniversary coffee (forget which kind), which was fine, but the real star of the stop was their housemade "Pop tart", with a raspberry jam and vegan goat cheese filling that was out of this world! We enjoyed the eclectic artsy decor also and are fans!

BRAK - Impossible & Cheese Sandwich

I had high hopes about this one but was pretty disappointed. I got the Naked Smoke coffee which promised flavorings of dark chocolate, date syrup, whiskey, and smoked chili brown sugar. I was really excited and thought I was about to experience a one of a kind drink but it kind of just tasted like a plain mocha latte. The BRAK breakfast sandwich was good and I really liked the Belgian waffle option for bread but it was quite overpriced ($10.50) for what I got. My gf ordered the BRIK sandwich and Flash Gordon. The BRIK was just okay but was really basic and also pricey. The Flash Gordon is supposed to be an iced coffee soda with Topo Chico. When my gf went to grab her drink the barista said "oh wait I forgot something, this is the best part" and then proceeded to pour an extremely small amount of Pellegrino on top, so the drink was essentially just an espresso shot with flat water which was disappointing. She should have offered to remake it after she acknowledged she didn't make it the right way. Also some points that would improve the customer experience would be to have napkins and water that are self serve. I had to ask for both and it felt like a burden to the employees who seemed really busy and it took a bit of time. Also, a more readable menu. They had the menu towards the register but if you're in line it's hard to see.

Came here on Sunday as a meet up spot with a photo group (check them out on ig: sdwalkabouts)! I got here around 10:20 am and there wasn't any line which was nice and surprising considering how many people were outside. The man that greeted me at the front was nice and patient, he showed me the menu. It was well organized and I think there's something available for everyone that comes. In addition, my friend ordered a cappuccino and said it was spectacular. My other friend, who doesn't drink coffee, got a chai and said it was good as well. Although I already planned to order the same drink as last time. Redemption arc!! I chose to go with $6.46, Iced 10oz Banana Bourbon Latte with Dairy, for here. The glass they served the drink in was truly so pretty and had a nice weight to it. The drink was completely chilled like they had it in a shaker, creating a delicate foam and then they put a banana chip on top of it! So cute, I love it. The taste this time around was not acidic & I'm not sure which beans they used. I know there were choices (which both sounded amazing), but the guy working chose for me. The banana bourbon part was subtle, but still there. I'm used to more of a punchy banana notes in my lattes. This was good a solid 4/5. Next time I'd get the vanilla lavender latte probably! They had great music, wall was lined with their own beans and detailed notes about it. They had some shirts available for purchase. The space was clean and seats were comfy. Still liked how JJBA was basically everywhere, I sent it to my cousin who was practically yelling where is this place?! She loved it! There was a lot of us, and while the place looks small -- it can hold a good amount of people inside and outside! I'd recommend coming here, especially if you enjoy the opportunity to choose which beans are used in the drink of your choice. I think that is a fun addition to ordering your coffee (:

Every employee is knowledgeable and welcoming. The best palo santo latte I've ever had. Satisfying and satiating breakfast sandwich. A burgeoning third space with a book club meeting every month. And the merch!!!!!!! Cannot recommend this spot enough. Here's some more exclamation points for good measure!!!!!!!!!!!'

Came for their one year anniversary party (congratulations!) and they were giving out samples of their pastries and coffee. My partner and I both got the cold brew. Mine with the banana bourbon syrup and milk. His with Palo Santo honey and oat milk. They were both super smooth and the flavors were delicious and unique. Service was also so friendly. This feels like such a neighborhood place. Happy to support a small business!

I stopped by their shop after learning about them from SD Coffee Fest and had the best experience. The barista Ole was friendly and skilled, they had free educational guides for home brewers like myself, and they happen to sell coffee-chocolate, which I'm always on the hunt for. I hate it when you can't taste the coffee in chocolate bars claiming to have coffee in them, theirs was tasty and truly gourmet--a local collab with San Diego Coffee Co. Plus, they've collaborated with Little Waves Coffee, which tells me they're a community minded coffee shop. I'll definitely find my way back here next time I'm in SD.

This is a darling coffee shop on El Cajon. It feels really cozy and they have art you can buy from local artists all over their walls. I got the Palo Santo Latte and Impossible Breakfast biscuit - both were absolutely delicious! The staff was really kind and even offered an alternative to the guacamole on the biscuit since I'm allergic to avocado. Street parking was a little challenging but I went right in the middle of street sweeping otherwise it would've been better. Excited to go back, definitely higher on the list of shops in SD that I've been to this year!

May have found my new favorite coffee shop! Torque coffee has all the things you would want in a cafe... cute interior with pops of color (looking at you, sad beige coffee shops), a thorough coffee menu with fun food options, and of course quality coffee. I love that you get the option to choose what kind of espresso you'd like, you don't really see that in SD. I went with the Palo Santo Honey Latte which was delicious - super coffee forward with a hint of earthy sweetness. I'd definitely like to return to try the food too.

This small establishment is a coffee lovers dream. The barista was knowledgeable and I decided to do an iced americano with Palo santo honey. Because it was free shot Friday I tried a Bahire espresso shot (notes of grilled pineapple, black currant, and red wine). Superb! This welcoming coffee house is all about building knowledge and has an abundance of socially conscious coffees for sale where they know and share who the farmers are.

The Pho Cold Brew, on the other hand, was a bit of a miss for me. It was definitely interesting and I could taste the coffee, but I can't say I loved it. It also didn't really hit on the caffeine side, though that might just be me building up a higher tolerance lately. What stood out more than the drinks was the vibe. They had a DJ playing music, which made it feel more like a hangout spot than just a coffee run. Another plus: very dog-friendly and clearly a pro-dog coffee shop. Overall, a decent place to chill and try some creative menu items. I've had stronger coffee elsewhere, but this place might be worth checking out if one's never been.

This neighborhood is filled with all kind of coffee/tea places, however Fuzz Coffee was a bit difficult to find as they didn't have much signage indicating their presence. A small sidewalk sign that said 'Coffee & Records' along with a label on the front window was the extent of the identification. Parking was either curbside, or you could pay for a space in a lot just a bit up the street which was what I did. The inside had limited seating consisting of a countertop along the front window and a bench with some stools that surrounded very small round tables. A merchandise rack was on the right wall when you walked in. A collection of vinyl records was in the back left corner. The menu board was posted on the wall to the right of the service counter. The choice of beverages was around a dozen, but a seasonal menu added a few more items. I ordered an Iced Latte with whole milk. The addition of Honey Cinnamon incurred a one dollar surcharge. The barista quickly prepared my drink as I was nearly the last customer for the day. I didn't taste much honey cinnamon flavor so that topping wasn't really worth it. The small tables were a bit awkward as they were elevated quite a bit higher than the stool/bench. The surface area could not have been larger than a vinyl record for comparison (see my photo). I gave a three star rating for my visit to Fuzz Coffee.
