This coffee is as good as coffee gets!! QUALITY coffee, great vibes, super nice and friendly baristas, simple menu + free stickers! Love that the tables have a 1 hr limit! Love this place and wish we lived closer to it so it could be part of the regular coffee rotation, BUT will be returning here regardless because it's so so great. Definitely one of San Diego's best!
I love that this spot is oat milk only! Excellent list of drinks, and super friendly. Very clean inside and the mint iced latte was delicious. They even gave me a little mint on the side of it. Coffee tasted great, and despite being busy, they served me very quickly and were very polite. They also have a punchcard system so you can earn stamps towards a drink.
Cute and delicious coffee shop in Bankers Hill. Their seasonal drink Backdraft was absolutely delicious. Sad it is not a regular but excited to try new seasonal drinks by them. The staff/owners are lovely. LOVE the aesthetics of the shop too. Lots of attention to small details. Also love they do a small discount for bringing your own mug/cup and donate a small amount of the to go cups charge to a local charity. It's street parking which is primarily paid but there are some spots you can find unpaid.
Mnemonic Coffee is one of the really good ones- easily a favorite. The coffee is delicious, especially with their homemade flavors, and the staff are always amazing and welcoming. The space itself is small and cute, and they always have the sweetest flower arrangements that add such a nice touch. It can get busy and there's sometimes a line, and parking can be a bit tricky at times, but it's absolutely worth it. It's also in a great area for a walk and within walking distance of Balboa Park, which makes it an even better stop. Pro tip: get the punch card - you'll definitely be coming back. Overall, just an amazing spot all around.
This place has some great seasonal drinks. The Starman and The Zephyr are really refreshing and a good change up from my usual. The service was super fast and friendly. They even brought out to go drinks to us. I look forward to try their house drinks in the future.
Came here today for the first time. Coffee and vibes are 100. Amazing staff and service. We got their basic vanilla latte (definitely recommend it's house made) iced coratdo and iced maple street and the apple cold brew I believe (seasonal drink). Overall it was good and vibes were immaculate
Got the Giddy Up with the espresso shot inside. Love the decor and friendly service. There was a line but it went by quickly.
Cute & quirky coffee shop I tried the maple street extra hot with almond milk & it was sooo good! I also tried the mint condition iced with oat milk and it was equally delicious I believe they only serve oat milk or almond milk for the coffees unfortunately but I would still come back to try other items on the menu!
This is an intimate coffee shop in both size and community. The staff seems to have a close relationship with each other and regulars. We got one of our favorites (cold brew) and it did not disappoint. It had chocolaty notes and was a great price as well. Not only did they have glasses for the cold brew but a glass straw as well which I personally really appreciate. The quirky almost retro diner vibe with tile coasters, and a nice fall color palette. Overall its a great spot to grab a coffee and im sure we will be back.

It's usually busy, but on a Friday morning, I was able to grab a seat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed vibe. It's a cozy and artistic place with dogs allowed indoors. Service has always been friendly and sweet.
We had an amazing experience at Mnemonic Coffee! We tried The Gateway, which was delicious. Sweet and balanced without being overwhelmingly sweet. We also had the Costa Rica pour over, which was excellent. One thing we really loved was that they don't use disposables. Everything was reusable, right down to the crystal straw. Such a thoughtful touch! The ambiance is lovely, the art is beautiful, and everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. Great coffee, great space, and great attention to detail. Definitely worth a visit!
100% amazing! I would come back to San Diego to go to this place! The owners are extremely friendly and clearly love their business and what they do. It's a small shop, with little seating (and usually a line) but they talk to each customer as if it's their friend so they make it worthwhile. First time I got a barista recommendation (I told them to make whatever light sweet, simple latte that I could try) - they made a vanilla and cinnamon latte. I am not kidding when I say it was this best thing I've ever had and I dream about this drink all the time. I just went again yesterday and got a another specialty latte that was orange Bossom and cardamom and it was phenomenal. Cappuccinos are always smooth as well.
Believe the hype and the 5-star ratings! Mnemonic Coffee is THE SPOT! I had made a quick pit stop in the area and before leaving, I saw Mnemonic out of the corner of my eye and decided to stop by. WHAT A FANTASTIC CHOICE, I soon came to realize! The staff members were super friendly and helpful! After perusing the menu, I went with one of the specials, The Cardi B, which featured a housemade cardamom syrup. Within a handful on minutes, my beverage was crafted to perfection and served in a cute glass with a metal straw. I supremely appreciated the reusable/sustainable aspect and that it was an option. IMMEDIATE green flag in my book. Plus, I'm a sucker for cold beverages in glassware. While seating was limited due to the space being intimate, there are a handful of tables as well as seating at the bar. I was able to snag a spot at the bar, where I enjoyed my beverage and did a bit of work in my laptop. Overall, this was a FANTASTIC SPOT! I recommend swinging by if you're in the area, whether you're solo or with a friend. I'll definitely be stopping by again soon to try more menu options!
If I could rate Mnemonic Coffee six stars, I would. I was thoroughly impressed with the latte I ordered. It was exceptionally smooth and had a rich, nutty flavor. This latte was the best latte I have had in a long time. The vibe is hip and the baristas were friendly. Service was pleasantly speedy as well! Mnemonic Coffee is easily the best coffee shop I've been to in recent memory. No wonder it was so busy today! read more

Such a cute little coffee spot! I've been wanting to try it forever because of all the rave reviews, and it definitely didn't disappoint. It has a great ambiance for a quick morning coffee, and you can tell it's a neighborhood favorite with all the locals stopping in. Because it's on the smaller side, it's not really a work-from-home setup (they ask that you limit stays to two hours). I got the almond milk cappuccino and the latte art was perfect. None of the seasonal specials were calling my name today, but I'll definitely be back to try some of their interesting flavor combos in the future. read more

Cute little spot in Hillcrest. I was lucky to find parking right in front, which was a huge plus. The staff was very professional, and the latte was great. Seating is extremely limited though, so I wouldn't recommend coming during weekends or peak hours unless you're just grabbing something to go. read more

I already had a Vietnamese Coffee and a Matcha Latte before I visited Mnemonic Coffee so I didn't need any more caffeine that day. I'm glad they offered "Zero Proof" drinks which was their caffeine free options. I ordered the Pony Boy which was saffron syrup, grapefruit, and Topo Chico, but I'm not sure if I actually tasted any grapefruit. Maybe I was expecting the Fever Tree Grapefruit soda which is super flavorful and sweet, but this drink was more Saffron than Grapefruit. It was decent! I really enjoyed the decor inside, but there isn't much seating space read more
Tried the chiaroscuro! Wow what an incredible blend /contrast of balsamic, sweet and citrusy scent! Super creative and made me feel good! Great suggestion by the barista ( assuming owner) and I observed how they treated their regulars- very personable. Love the counter and the cozy vibe. read more

Solid coffee spot but pretty pricey and only oat milk. I'm totally for oat milk as an option but I like standard whole milk instead and wish that was an option, especially since I felt like the oat milk upcharge was added into the price. I came on a Sunday around 10 and it wasn't too busy. The space is definitely a cool vibe. Not very big but they do have some seating that people were sitting/hanging out at. The baristas were very friendly and helpful in letting me know about the different drink options. I got the Maple Street which is maple syrup and cinnamon. I was worried it would be pretty sweet but they said that's actually one of their least sweet options. After trying it I agree. It wasnt too sweet at all. read more
I googled best coffee in San Diego and this popped up as one of the options. Wanted to go for a long walk, so I got the directions and walked from Normal Heights. Small little shop, 3 tables and some bar seating. Not the great traffic pattern ever but what can ya do. Solid service, everyone was super friendly and they worked pretty quickly. I ordered a latte called...I'm forgetting what it was called. Churascuro? I'm not exaggerating when I say it was hands down the best latte I've ever had. Coffee, lemon, balsamic glaze...it shouldn't have worked. But it did. I liked it so much I went back the next day and got another one. read more

Really close to 5 stars but the billing seems to be off. Ordered the mint drink $7 and was charged above the stated menu price for syrup ($7 plus 50 cents for syrup). I've ordered their other special drinks (basic with vanilla) and wasn't charged again for syrup so not sure why that happened. If you order to go they charge you 25 cents. But you should really get their drinks to have there. They serve them in cute glasses with glass straws. Interior is very small, they have some bar style seating and 3 tables but the tables always seem to be filled with people on computers even though they have signs saying be mindful of your time. They have a stamp card, you can get one stamp per visit. The Basic is a must. Their vanilla is unlike anything I've ever tasted. I wish I could buy their syrup. Cardi B - I wasn't really of fan of the flavor. Mint - this was good and you even get an Andes mint to go with it. Parking is rough. Street/metered only. Some of the meters are faulty as well so be careful. I paid and it was still flashing red. read more

I came here on Saturday morning between my appt. It was busy but line moved fairly quick. The decor inside is cute, and good vibe. There are few seats on the bar counter, and few tables. It may be hard to find the seats, when it's busy since there aren't many. Looks like there are many locals stopping by to get coffee on sat morning. I had cappuccino and it was good. I was looking to get some pastries but they didn't have any so I will come back. read more

Incredible lattes, beautiful place. Had the chiaroscuro, which the super helpful server told me brought to mind a lemon loaf, and though at first tentative, I was sold. It was incredible! Adventurous and creative while still a lovely morning drink (was a bit worried about that balsamic vinegar when I ordered, glad it ended up being more of a gentle presence). They seem very attentive quality and I'd definitely come back for more. The interior is cozy and such pretty colors. One of those places you just want to sit and soak in for a bit. Gets quite busy since it's a smaller space, so keep that in mind, but the service remained upbeat and fast--much appreciated. read more

I order an iced vanilla latte just about everywhere I go and Mnemonic's vanilla latte, named The Basic, is one of the best I've ever had. Their espresso is smooth and the vanilla syrup is made in house, making it a perfectly executed latte. I also love that all of their drinks are made with oat milk (almond milk is also offered). The interior is awesome and the two owners make the shop as special as it is. Highly recommend this coffee shop in Bankers Hill read more

This spot has been on my list and was finally in the area to try it. The inside had a fun casual bar vibe up against a barber shop. I came in but the baristas were talking to each other and did not say anything even when I came up to the counter ready to order. So it felt a little unwelcoming. I ended up ordering my latte to go (25 cents up charge). The Basic - a good vanilla latte but expensive at $7.25. It's served with oat milk by default. The oat milk was coming through pretty strong. read more

It's been a bit over a year since Mnemonic Coffee opened up in Banker's Hill and it remains my favorite spot for a delicious latte treat. The vibes and atmosphere are fantastic and it's obvious that they've built a community that feels very welcoming. Service remains top-notch. I purchased one of their new tumblers as I was in the market for one and like the design. $35 and your first drink fill is included as purchase, with .25 off every order moving forward. It's great quality and easy to clean; I'm pleased with the purchase. read more
