Such a cute little spot to grab a quick snack and a coffee or tea. They have a few chairs and small tables out front, and it's attached to a brewery (which was still closed when we visited). The barista/cashier was super friendly, which made the visit even better. My friend and I ordered a cold brew, a hot black tea, and a meat pie. Cold brew was solid, black tea was great, and the meat pie was decent - just a bit soggy on the bottom. A quick toast on both sides before serving would've made it perfect. I stumbled upon this place during my morning walk! It's super small and cute. It looks like it's run from inside kairoa brewing. There are 2 little tables out front with 2 chairs each and 2 stools at the bar to enjoy your drinks! Staff member was very sweet and made great recommendations. I tried the iced matcha with lavender honey and one of the mini chicken pies because... why not?! Definitely worth if if you're in the area looking for a quick pick me up. Food/drink review: Iced matcha: (4/5) It's pretty good. I don't really taste the lavender honey that was added. Overall decent drink! Chicken pie: (3.5/5) This was very interesting. My sweet friend Keala got me a gift card to Yipao! First things first. The hours of operation are 7am-2pm Monday-Thursday so good for the early risers. There isn't much street parking so be mindful of that. Now to the good part: the coffee!!! Well, I ordered the rosemary brown sugar latte and that sounds to die for already. I loved the subtle rosemary flavor with a balanced brown sugar syrup. I feared that this latte would be so sweet but I had absolutely NOTHING to fear! So creative! Anyway I could tell my latte was made from high quality coffee beans. Like the top of the line. Best of the best. Crème de la crème. I wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction trust. All other times they had a very strong vinegar taste like they are taking high quality beans and then ruining them by fermenting or storing them improperly. Cute little coffee spot to sit in the sun and enjoy a latte... in my case a gingerbread latte. Some syrups are made in house and the barista was nice enough to give us a try of the syrups. Latte was foamy and satisfying. Love these local coffee shops! Parking is in the neighborhood and you may need to circle a couple of times. read more

Little staycation in University Heights was a nice break from downtown. On our morning walk we ran by Yipao! They had some delicious options for snacks and pies. Was my lucky day as parking was not an issue and finally able to check this coffee spot that has been on my list for some time. They offer so many options that I had to order 2 drinks LOL. I ordered the Rosemary Brown Sugar Latte and the Raspberry Latte. The rosemary latte is on their regular menu which is nice to see as this tasted really good. The rosemary flavor is a light hint and not too strong. It combines well with the coffee ... A combo one wouldn't think of. The raspberry latte is on the seasonal menu and they make their own raspberry syrup. I didn't get a lot of raspberry flavor (lighter than the rosemary hint), but the latte was still good! I do plan to go back and try their chai ginger latte as well as one of their lemonaded. Service was awesome (barista was so nice, fun and helpful). Coffee here is absolutely phenomenal. The seasonal Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte had the perfect amount of sweetness and flavors combined with the coffee. Would absolutely get it again. The Honey Lavender Latte is also delicious, I personally would go with the Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte because it's different and unique and can't be found at other coffee shops. On the main menu, there doesn't seem to be many options for flavors, however, there is a little sign that has all the seasonal flavors, definitely pick from those because this place has their own handmade syrups. I went in the morning on a weekday at 11 am and during that time, it isn't busy. There is street parking available and also a parking lot nearby. The staff is super friendly and will be a big help when deciding what to order. This place is like a little coffee stand connected to a restaurant. There is some outdoor seating, but the indoors is closed off for a different venue. Overall, love this place and the seasonal drinks they have. If you don't know what to get beforehand, just ask the staff and check out the seasonal drinks when you get there. read more

This place is very cute, service was fine but I have never had a worse matcha in my 32 years of existence. Starbucks is better, and that is embarrassing. It tastes like milk, the green is so light- are they low on matcha powder or something? My vape has more flavor. Maybe their coffee is good but do not recommend getting a matcha. read more

I've been here about four times. The first time, an older gentleman (I'm going to guess is the owner but I'm not sure) made my coffee. I think that was probably the best I've had at Yipao. The other three times were made by other people, but the coffee just didn't taste as good as the first person who made it. The coffee is still good, but I wish the coffee is consistent disregard who made it. I've also been ordering the same thing each time. I would still come back, but probably because I'm waiting for the first guy who made it to show up. Hahha! read more

Beef empanada - this was bad and not worth $7.50. It wasn't cooked all the way and was cold in the middle. I think it was prob because they had a huge line and were PACKED. Endless summer cold brew - this was awful. It tasted like cold brew mixed with a ton of citrus and not in a good way. It was incredibly sour and bitter tasting. Nice decor. Okay coffee, but the bagel was disgusting. That's not a bagel. That's a piece of ciabatta covered in butter and baked in a shape of bagel. I understand having new delicious types of pastries that aren't muffins... I don't like muffins, but why mess with a bagel? Bagels are already perfection. Do yourselves a favor and switch to a traditional bagel baker. That sh*t was disgusting. Straight to the trash after the first bite which went into the trash as well. Unfortunately didn't enjoy our coffee here. For the price point, the mocha coffee was lacking flavor. It's like drinking milk with chocolate syrup that is very bland. They also didn't have oat milk available for the day. For a bag of beans and two coffee, we paid $34 which I honestly think isn't worth it. Got there matcha latte and maybe I'm just used to matcha lattes being sweetened but theres wasn't sweetened and so it just wasn't good to me and hard to enjoy. But I will say their matcha flavor was present and had a very natural taste which I appreciate. I also had a wait a few min for someone to come and take my order which was kind of frustrating! I totally get that it was the middle of a work day and business can be slow.. but at least have a bell or a buzzer so that customers can let you know they have arrived. read more

Located right in the heart of the university heights neighborhood. Due to covid they only have a walkup area to order and about 4 seats off to the side to sit at. They have a pretty standard coffee menu with some additional tea and juice options. Their most popular items seem to be their cold brew and their lattes but I decided to go with a standard black coffee and a pop tart. They get their baked goods from another bakery and they are all vegan. The coffee was just ok since it was pretty mild and I like a stronger, bolder brew. The pop tart was pretty much puff pastry with some jam in between. The baristas were really nice and helpful when I had a couple questions on drinks and whatnot. read more

My friend and I ordered Iced Colombian Mochas with oat milk at their North Park truck before watching a concert at The Observatory. The coffee flavor was pretty strong (could be stronger), but the cocoa powder was not fully dissolved and blended into our drinks at all--there were a lot of chunks and powdery bits, and I don't think this drink was supposed to be like that. It was almost an unpleasant experience. We felt that our drinks were rushed--the guy was very distracted while making them--and if the cocoa was just dissolved completely, our coffees probably would've tasted so much better. It's definitely disappointing since we paid over $8 for each of those iced mochas and it's just the size of a grande cup you'd get from Starbucks. Personally, I don't think I'll be a repeat customer. read more
