I've been wanting to try this for awhile but was always put off by the length of the line - it actually moves incredibly quickly! The iced coffee it delicious, and the egg cream gave a bit of pause but it tastes like the custard part of a flan or crème brûlée! For me this is more of an occasion / brunch / dessert coffee than something I'd opt for regularly as it's a bit sweet and heavy - in a great way just not what I opt for in my regular coffee order. *make sure you pay attention when paying to the order number they give you*

Now with a line like that, it has to be good

Saigon coffee located in North Park San Diego area. To start, anyplace that has a line this long out the door and isn't giving away free stuff, has got to be fantastic. So we came down for a concert and we're looking for coffee. Saw Saigon Coffee in the Yelp reviews and had to go. Used to be an awesome spot in Newport Beach that went out of business during Covid sadly, they had the best coffee. Based on that, we had to make the trek to this place. Immediately we saw a line around the corner with easily 50 people waiting. I knew then we were in the promised land of coffee. We parked 3 blocks away and made the journey. And then, we waited. And waited. And waited some more, in the incredibly long line. Once we got up front we were ready to 2 coffees! We ordered the famous Saigon and the blended coconut. Once you get to the register the coffee comes out somewhat quick. If you get blended coconut it takes a bit longer. The drinks were delivered and we actually were able to sit outside at the red chairs and tables due to a lull in the line. I have to tell you, the hype is real. While they don't have even one hot coffee (Newport beach establishment had many) the iced coffee doesn't disappoint. The flavors are there and the coffee is absolutely silky and delicious. They know their craft and I assume that is why they're crushing the lines of people.

Viet coffee and egg coffee here is a must get! It's quite strong but the sweetness balances it out a lot. Still, I would 100% recommend this place and will be coming back often. Parking can be hard to find but that's expected. On Saturday brunch time there wasn't a line and our drinks came out instantly.

We read great things online so had to come in and try!! The cafe is located on a cute corner next to a cute gift shop. Parking is tricky but typical for the area. The line was long but moved really quickly. The service was friendly. The coffee itself was made well and is quality Vietnamese coffee. I tried the banana coffee and the banana was just okay, I'd go for something else next time!

Live, Laugh, Love Saigon Coffee. Simple menu, delicious drinks that hit the spot every time. Whether you order their classic Vietnamese coffee, a seasonal drink, matcha or lemonade they are all so good. Plenty of seating and the drinks come out fast. The hype that follows it, is well deserved!

Always the place to go! We stopped by with my son before going back to SF! This is the best Viet coffee in SD!-no doubt!!! Once you've tried it once, you will come back for sure-100! Everyone is also great and customer service is superb!

Checked out Saigon Coffee and loved the experience. They specialize in traditional Vietnamese slow drip coffee and you can really taste the difference. We tried the coconut frappe and the vegan coconut which were delicious, rich, and definitely on the stronger side. If you're a coffee fanatic or just need a serious kick to start your day, this spot is a must.

It is worth the hype. Definitely crack in a bottle/cup for sure. I usually get the vegan coconut frappe. It forces me to slow down on drinking it or else I would down it so fast. They serve matcha also, but I've never tried. Service is always solid. The drinks usually come out decently quick and it's a nice place to just chill for a bit. There's some outdoor seating and the place next door has cute things to look at. Place is located in a corner spot. There's usually always a line and parking sucks, but I don't care...it's that good.

This spot is sooo good! It leans a little on the sweeter side, but in the best way still absolutely bomb. They have tons of flavors to explore, which I love because you can switch it up every time and never get bored. The vibe? A whole moment. From the aesthetic inside to the way they present the cups, you can tell they care about the details. It's giving chill, trendy, and cool all at once. The coffee itself is strong, bold, and rich ! It definitely wakes you UP. If you love a good kick in your cup this is it. I'd 100% come back. Customer service was super nice and helpful, which just makes the experience even better. Just a heads up tho it's street parking only, but it's worth it !

Saigon Café is a nice little coffee shop. Excellent Vietnamese coffee. I had the Saigon special. The coffee shop is small so not the best place for a coffee meet up and as you know any place in the North Park, parking is always an issue so a beware. Come try it out.

Finally some amazing Vietnamese coffee in SD! Saigon Coffee is located right in the middle of all the excitement in North Park. I've passed by so many times and finallyyyy made my way inside after hearing great things about their strong Ca Phe Sua Da! This review is a bit overdue because I got their The Banana Claus, which was one of their holiday drinks. It featured their signature coffee topped with a house-made banana cream. I got strong notes of both banana and coffee! Super creamy, smooth, and delish! A good coffee done right.

    Best Banana Vietnamese Coffee everrrrrr

Five stars isn't enough, I need a sixth just for emotional support. Saigon Coffee is serving liquid happiness. Their Vietnamese coffee is so good it made me question every life choice that led me to drink anything else. I'm not crying, you're crying. Okay fine, I'm crying. The banana cream Vietnamese coffee? Absolute perfection. Tastes like real banana magic, not that fake candy nonsense. Finally, a place that doesn't slip on flavor. And the Hanoi Egg Coffee? So creamy and straight up egg-cellent! The main coffee base is rich, dreamy, and dangerously strong. A few sips in and suddenly I have goals, ambition, and a clean house. My MIL is ride or die for the coconut coffee frappe and honestly, it's a yummy tropical paradise in a cup. Service is always nice and helpful too! At this point I'm not just a regular, I'm emotionally invested. If loving this place is wrong, I don't want to be brew-tifully right!

I had the Banana Claus recently, which is their holiday special. It is a banana cold foam on top of their Famous Saigon Coffee. The foam is topped with a slightly salty and nutty crumble. I usually don't like nuts, but because it was blitzed this was okay for me. I thought the touch of salt was a good pairing especially with the Vietnamese coffee. It was good! A slight banana taste, but it didn't remind me of freshly ripe bananas. It had a slight... artificial taste to it. Not in a bad laffy taffy way, but it just was different. I've had my fair share of bad banana lattes, and this one doesn't come close to being at that level. It's drinkable, just unique in their banana flavoring aspect. I think I'll stick to my usual orders next time! They had paper straws, striped in red and white-- just like a candy cane. It's fun for the holidays, but I don't think they should switch completely/forever to this. Since the straw is made out of paper it gets soggy fast and it's a little weaker to use to mix the coffee too. The workers were absolutely the sweetest & worked well together. They definitely had a system going since it took less than 3 min before I had my cup and there were several groups in front of me that ordered too. They close around 3pm, but even at 2:45pm there was a constant flow of people entering and ordering. In addition, they have merch that you can purchase. From coffee beans, to tote bags (with zippers), to phin filters (if you want to make your own Vietnamese drip filtered coffee), and even tumblers for your drinks. They are high quality and have great color options. I have a white one that's slim so it can fit in the car cup holder or even a backpack. The lid has a great suction when you close it and it has two options-- hot lid, pull back. And iced-- add straw to it. It keeps my iced coffee nice and cold for hours even when I'm out n about. If you're in the area of North Park, come try their Vietnamese Coffee! It's strong with a slight sweetness (condensed milk). If you want to be adventurous, I'd recommend the Hanoi Egg Coffee as it tastes reminiscent of flan in a way. The Coconut Coffee is a great order on a hot day! I also did enjoy their Caramel option before as well. They do have an option with no milk/condensed milk -- it's very strong and might keep you up for a while. As you can tell, they have many options , even for non coffee drinkers (matcha/tea)... stop by and see how you like it!

Ask the Community - Saigon Coffee

Is the coffee in the bag ground coffee or whole beans?

Hi Liz. We have both ground and whole beans. Thank you! Tu.

What would be the equivalence in number of espresso shots in one regular saigon coffee?

It would be equivalent to 3 to 4 espresso shots. They are strong. I highly recommend getting their frozen bottled coffee. It lasts 10 days and is good for 3-4 servings. Just serve over ice.

Do they offer options besides regular milk; oat milk, almond milk?

They have a vegan coconut made with coconut condensed milk. That's what I get.

Do they offer a decaf version? I absolutely love Vietnamese style coffee but I can never find a place that serves decaf.

    No, No decaf.

Do they serve hot coffee or only iced?

Their menu only shows iced drinks. I went only once (so far) and noticed only iced drinks were being made. But it was delicious!

How much caffeine is in a 16oz?

Quite a lot. This coffee is slowly dripped in Phin's. It's a 4 hour brewing process and extracts the maximum rich flavor from the coffee. It also makes is exceptionally strong.

Where I can find their menu? No info about banh mi sandwiches of their website. Are they vegan friendly? Any tofu/jackfruit sandwiches?

They only have coffee. No Banh Mi of any kind

We bit the bullet and headed there. Parking can be tough but luckily we found parking in front of the restaurant. It was free after 8 pm on a Tuesday. If you go earlier or on the weekends, I would read the parking sign more carefully. There might be free street parking on the left side behind the restaurant. Don't quote me on that. The restarant itself is decorated beautifully with a jazzy ambiance. The interior had bits of gold and green with a beautiful pearlescent leafy wallpaper. The bar is located in the center and also doubles as a centerpiece to the restuarant. Restrooms are located in the back - there we many private, clean and spacious rooms. Below is a summary of the food we ordered: Beef Tartare (5/5) - Savory, sweet and spicy beef tartare dressed in fish sauce and thai chilis. Paired alongside fresh herbs like cilantro, shiso, argula and radicchio. The sesame rice crackers were light and airy. Smoked Dry Aged Duck (5/5) - Perfectly cooked, sweet and salty aged smoked duck paired with rice noodles, herbs and 2 different sauces. I appreciated the many ways you can wrap and enjoy the duck. I do wish the slices of duck were either smaller or thinner - it's hard to eat in one bite. Whole Fried Sand Bass (4/5) - I'll always order a whole firied fish wherever I go and this was no expection. I loved the sweet & sour ginger sauce. The fish was a bit over-fried in my personal opinion, but the inside is still very soft and tender. Sweet & Sour Rice Noodles (5/5) - Aboslutely delicious! Slippery and cold rice noodles dressed in fish sauce and other seasonings. It's not overpowering at all and goes great with the Whole Fried fish as well. Seasame Soiree Cocktail (5/5) - A very unique drink made with gin, ginger, coconut, seasame seeds and more. It was very fragrant in the best way. The flavor really develops after the first sip. I love how nutty and decadent yet light this drink is. Overall, I had a great experience here and this is one of the top restaurants I've had the pleasure of enjoying in SD. Highly reccomend especially if you like Vietnamese food / fish-sauce forward dishes. (At least for the dishes I ordered)
