I've been to this spot a couple times and the tea is one of the best teas i've had in san diego! i do prefer the sweetness level to be 50% since they run on the sweeter end with their drinks. you can also taste test the drink flavors beforehand and those ones are also 50% sweetness. Snow Jasmine(Milky) - simple but solid choice Dark Phoenix - stronger tea side Peachy Princess - if you like a fruity kick Emperor's Red Robe - good milky but strong tea taste (my favorite) Duck Sh*t - on the sweeter side Service: Pretty efficient and helpful in choosing flavors each time Ambiance: Super busy and has loud music yet a lot of people pack the place to study and do work here. There will be some people just chilling too but a LOT of people come and do work here

Not what I was expecting considering all the positive reviews. I was hoping for the tea to be more fragrant and flavorful, but the milk flavor was much more prominent than the tea itself. That being said, the shop had a really fun vibe with cool aesthetics and a nice atmosphere overall.

The service was impeccable! Very tea forward beverages, one of my favorite in San Diego. Feels upscale, but not too stuffy. Must visit when in the area! Notable staff mentions: Lillian, Irene, Eros, Wren & Kurumi! Thank you :3

Yun Tea House is an extremely popular tea shop in San Diego and the shop uses teapresso machines to prepare its drinks. The restaurant group (SD Backyard) that owns this tea shop also runs Steamy Piggy (Casual Chinese Fusion), Formoosa (A Taste of Taiwan), Flama Llama (Asian Latin Fusion), Bok Bok Dok (Seoul Spicy), Viet Nom (Modern Vietnamese Cuisine), and Oi Shiba (Ramen Shop - now closed). In a way SD Backyard is the San Diego version of Kei Concepts in Orange County. [Parking]: The shop is located in a plaza with other popular Asian restaurants so it can be pretty difficult to find an available parking spot during busy dinner hours. Street parking is not an option on Convoy St so this parking lot is the only option. [Atmosphere & wait]: Very modern decor with cloud-shaped lamps and a table with a running river. Our party waited close to 20 minutes on Saturday at 8 PM before finally being able to place an order. [Menu]: The cashier allowed customers to sample various drinks (all samples were 50% sweet). Personally I liked Dark Phoenix and Red Robe. In addition, they also sell perfumes based on tea aromas (Iron Phoenix, Snow Jasmine, Peach Princess, White Tiger - $25 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum) and customers can sample each perfumes while waiting in line. According to the menu, the top five drinks are Dark Phoenix, Duck Sh*t, Emperor's Red Robe, Monkey King, and Iron Goddess. *** Dark Phoenix (cultivated from Phoenix mountain in Guangdong, China. Phoenix oolong has been selected for its darker shade & stronger fruity aroma which leads to a fragrant milk tea - 50% sweetness - $6.55 + with boba $0.75): A refreshing drink with the right amount of sweetness. The boba was decent, but definitely not the best I have had. *** Given the lack of tea shops using teapresso machines like CHICHA San Chen in San Diego, this is currently one of the top tea shop options locals can find in this part of town. P.S. - Yun Tea House gives a physical stamp card for each purchase, which is something rare to see nowadays given that most other tea shops use digital rewards programs.

I stumbled across Yun Tea House with almost 5 stars and thousands of reviews and thought "how good can this place be?!" So i decided to go before flying home. The parking lot is small, cramped, and requires payment. When you walk in you'll be greeted by a long-ish line but it moves pretty quickly. The drink that caught my attention was the duck sh*t milk tea because well, the name. LOL i got this and my sisters got the snow jasmine milk tea and the dark phoenix milk tea. All of these were pretty good. My favorite part was that the tea flavor is strong and fragrant. They also sell perfume in the scent of some of their teas. Of course i bought one because who doesn't wanna smell like jasmine milk tea? Hahah I can definitely see how they're holding onto to their high ratings.

I think the quality went down here. The tea leaves a weird after taste. Not worth the long lines that they always have. The inside has also gotten less clean but it's hard to maintain cleanliness when it's always that busy. If you can find a table, it's not a bad place to study but it gets busy which means it can get loud.

Tea sensory heaven! There's zen decor, fragrant tea aromas, and tea-based perfumes to sniff while waiting in line. Their menu is tea-centric with unfamiliar names. Luckily, the cashier was friendly, offered samples, and described each flavor. Favorite drink: Dark Phoenix Milk Tea. It's bold, roasty, and the most flavorful one we tried. We also tried the infamous Duck Sh!t Tea, but it was too light and earthy. Overall, drinks were more milky than tea-forward, so if you're into strong, robust tea flavors, this place might not be for you. Add-ons were a miss. The boba was mushy on the outside and hard in the center. The barley popping boba didn't quite work for us either. The interior is spacious with tons of seating, and that waterfall table in the front is a gorgeous showstopper. This is a place you'll want to hang out in. Try to come before the rush, because this place gets packed!

What a beautiful tea shop. Their ambience is so calming with the cloud lights. They have a very nice variety of authentic teas. I like that they let you try samples of their different house teas. I got the Snow jasmine milk tea and it was absolutely delicious. I also bought their Snow jasmine perfume. They have four different perfumes there, and I am absolutely obsessed with the smell of the snow jasmine. It's literally as if you're walking past Jasmine bushes on the street. Easy to park because it's in a shopping plaza and complimentary for two hours. I can see that it's very popular because the line is quite long on a weekend. I also went on a weekday and there was still a line but not out the door. Definitely coming back again for tea and to buy the perfume again when this one runs out.

A very cool little tea house in the corner of the shopping center across from Wienerschnitzel on Convoy. The interior is very thoughtfully decorated, with a miniature river running through a table, lots of little cloud-shaped lights hanging, and a lot of cool aesthetic touches. The staff are really friendly too, and even though it's often busy service moves quickly. My first time I ordered the Emperor's Red Robe milk tea with boba, and it was really delicious. I got it only semi-sweet and it was the perfect blend of floral, oolong, and milky flavors. This seems like a great place to work remotely, have a casual hangout, or even a first date. I'll definitely be back soon! Update: Came back a second time to try the Iron Goddess, and Philip and Ellie were working. They were super helpful, and my tea was awesome! I loved the light fragrance of the quan yin tea, just bright enough without overpowering the drink at all.

A great spot for boba. It's clean and comfy. The staff are friendly and work diligently. All items are served with a smile. I didn't try their food options but it did look good from what I saw. I would visit again.

First time here and it's super packed! The workers are super nice here! Their names were Abbie, Alice, Christina and Bella who were super busy but still calm and sweet! Drinks were my type of teas! Definitely come back when I'm in SD!

Dark Phoenix 50% sweetness
Tiffany N.

Yun Tea House is one of my favorite tea places in San Diego! I love that they let you sample their most popular milk teas, and the workers are really kind and helpful in deciding what flavor to get. My favorite is the Dark Phoenix because it tastes like an elevated classic milk tea with a really nice, strong tea flavor and creaminess. I got 50% sweetness, and I feel like that was the perfect amount. The interior also has a really cool and calming aesthetic, and the table with water running through it is really unique. I love going here whenever I'm in San Diego because you can really taste the quality and depth of flavor in the teas they use

Ducksh*t
Jiansen W.

Ducksh*t is duh sh*t! Yun Tea House describes it as: "This oolong tea was so precious to its farmers that they gave it a strange name to ward off any potential thieves. It's known for its sharp and sweet taste with a slight gardenia aroma." This visit I noticed unique wood seats and a table with flowing water which was a joy to watch high among the caffeine clouds.

Does anyone know what they use for their milk? They said it's non-dairy but does anyone know if they use non-dairy creamer or some non-dairy milk?

I just asked to see the ingredient list for the nondairy creamer, because I avoid sweeteners and as much as possible artificial ingredients. I noticed it was a bit sweet so I asked. They showed me the label, and It's legit regular non-dairy creamer,… Read more

Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

One would think that, in such dark times, one could still find even a glimpse of hope in an ice cream cone. I was proven wrong, and my outlook on the current state of affairs only dimmed further. I ate my ice cream in two bites. Twenty dollars for two cones, four bites total. I didn't even bother feeding my son the pup cup. He deserves better. The world deserves better. Bigger portions.
