This coffee shop is what dreams are made of - seriously. They've perfected the formula. Friendly people, amazing vibes for people of all ages, and incredible coffee. Mike and the entire team at Dreamwave are doing such an incredible job of making the experience worth every penny. The quality of the coffee, the work they do, and the service they provide is truly top tier. While they do have a lot of fun flavors, this is not the kind of place that drowns the palate with sweetness. They expertly balance the ratio of syrup, milk, and espresso to provide the best outcome. The nuttiness of their roast really shines, and they're always happy to adjust the sweetness if you need them to. Personally, I love the lower sweetness level being the default. These guys know what they're doing! We've been visiting for the past week and have stopped through Dreamwave four times this week. While I'm always in the need of a coffee fix, we've gone out of our way to visit multiple times because the people have been so beyond kind. Wow. Firstly I love the name "Dreamwave Coffee". The vibe inside very much gives a Dream-like atmosphere! There's a quote in the bathroom by Carl Jung that says "He who looks outside dreams, he who looks inside awakens". I love the thoughtfulness and details. Mike, who owns the shop, helped me find what I was looking for off their menu. He gave great descriptions and mentioned their house-made syrups weren't too sweet. As an out of towner, my first experience at Dreamwave Coffee was everything I hoped for. Most importantly, the coffee was delicious, but what surprised us the most is how reasonably the prices were. To top it off, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere/aesthetics were top notch. We ordered an iced 12oz of the High Tide (Coconut + Vanilla) and a Vanilla Latte. The coconut flavor was VERY mild, but still enjoyable and the latte was solid. If we hadn't eaten breakfast earlier in the morning, we definitely would've eaten here. I absolutely love this adorable coffee shop. It's located on El Camino Real in the CVS shopping center. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are very cute in pink with scallop edging. I came in on a Saturday morning around 915am and this place was booming with customers. Luckily I made it a couple minutes early before they had another line out the door. First impression of this place is the cleanliness and how retro and chic it looks. This coffee joint definitely catches your attention. Merch, flowers, customized coffee cups (my favorite)...I definitely get the Carlsbad feel from this place. I decided to order the "Big Hot Mess" breakfast sandwich that did not disappoint on a brioche bun. I got recommended their "High Tide" signature drink which is one of their popular ones. The BEST vibes and LATTE's! Dreamwave has replaced the old Coffee Bean location, and it's honestly such an upgrade! I used to frequent CBTL here and had no idea it was replaced. The two girls at working were so friendly and authentic! Jessica and Camden? I believe their names were. I had a regular oatmilk latte and the hubs ordered an iced High Tide. Both were delicious but the High Tide was perfection. I love that all their syrups are house made with real/brown sugar (artificial stuff gives me migraines so I must avoid). The wife wanted a breakfast sandwich and we found this little cute spot in Carlsbad. First walking in, cute little store, was a little busy so you know it's good. They sell swag as well if you're interested. I ordered the wake and bacon sandwich, the person taking my order was super nice and sure to explain to me about any questions like what the drip coffee of the day was. My coffee came out pretty quick and it was hot, had to blow into the top a few tops to make sure I didn't burn my mouth. After a few moments my food came out after. Took a quick picture outside with my coffee, then took a bite. The bun wasn't over cooked or hard and the bacon was pretty good with the cheddar. Overall service was good, about 4-5 people working and constantly making food and drinks. First, they entered the market where good coffee was sorely needed. I go to this center as they have a Dexter's a couple doors down on the regular so it is convenient. Second, when I walked through the door I was greeted by an eager and friendly staff. I don't think I've experienced this much enthusiasm (like anywhere) in a long time. It was contagious. Third, the coffee is excellent. The owner is the roaster and so you get local small batched beans and you can taste it. Quickie 2-Day Update: The Guatemalan and the blend here are very smooth. I gravitate towards chocolate, floral, and fruity-but-not-bright tasting notes, and these coffees delivered!! First sip in, my husband said "this tastes like chocolate" and I replied, "it has no cocoa powder in it. I'm impressed- you picked out a tasting note!" I stopped in on a whim while Cali was getting her teeth cleaned at Dexter's and let me tell you- my experience exceeded my expectations! I got to meet the owner Mike before he left for the day; he is an absolute gem of a businessman. Not only does he roast the beans himself, but he makes all of his syrups as well. I ordered a 12 ounce orange cinnamon latte, and it was very smooth and balanced. I appreciated that the drink was not overly sweet and the orange flavor popped at the backend. He gave me a pro tip: the number of shots doesn't change regardless of drink size. Meaning, a 16 ounce will be quite milky. I also left with two boxes of beans; I am so happy to support his endeavors. I overheard him telling other customers that his goal is to serve 200 people a day to break even; he's currently at about 100. Overall, I will be back and I highly recommend Dreamwave! My hubby got the macadamia nut latte ("the dream") with an add shot and oat milk, hot. Both were tasty. I will say the horchata flavor is very light so I had to go back and ask for some more. We also didn't need that third shot as their espresso is nice and strong (for reference I typically get 3 shots in my coffees, like an americano and such). To eat I got a big hot mess and my friend got a wake & bacon. The BIG HOT MESS has Egg, Pepper Jack, Double Sausage, housemade Hot Honey, fresh Jalapenos on a Kaiser roll.
