This coffee shop is what dreams are made of - seriously. They've perfected the formula. Friendly people, amazing vibes for people of all ages, and incredible coffee. Mike and the entire team at Dreamwave are doing such an incredible job of making the experience worth every penny. The quality of the coffee, the work they do, and the service they provide is truly top tier. While they do have a lot of fun flavors, this is not the kind of place that drowns the palate with sweetness. They expertly balance the ratio of syrup, milk, and espresso to provide the best outcome. The nuttiness of their roast really shines, and they're always happy to adjust the sweetness if you need them to. Personally, I love the lower sweetness level being the default. These guys know what they're doing! We've been visiting for the past week and have stopped through Dreamwave four times this week. While I'm always in the need of a coffee fix, we've gone out of our way to visit multiple times because the people have been so beyond kind. We've sampled most of the house flavors and I can confidently say they have all been delicious. This would definitely be my go-to shop if I lived nearby.
Absolutely love this place! Several yummy flavors to choose from - which are in fact house made, employees are super sweet, overall a cutsie, aesthetic, good ambience coffee shop!! They also serve breaky sandwiches, which is nice when you want to grab a bite!
As an out of towner, my first experience at Dreamwave Coffee was everything I hoped for. Most importantly, the coffee was delicious, but what surprised us the most is how reasonably the prices were. To top it off, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere/aesthetics were top notch. We ordered an iced 12oz of the High Tide (Coconut + Vanilla) and a Vanilla Latte. The coconut flavor was VERY mild, but still enjoyable and the latte was solid. If we hadn't eaten breakfast earlier in the morning, we definitely would've eaten here. It smelled more like diner than a coffee shop with the seductive scent of bacon filling the small space. Dreamwave Coffee is a charming coffee shop that deserves to be on your morning hit list!

First time here. My matcha powder wasn't blended at all. Tastes like sweet milk. Very confused
I absolutely love this adorable coffee shop. It's located on El Camino Real in the CVS shopping center. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The tables are very cute in pink with scallop edging. They serve regular coffee as well as specialty drinks and simple breakfast. I like the Silly Old Bear because it has honey and cinnamon. I always order hot coffee. Oddly, it was served not very hot. I would call it lukewarm. That was my only complaint. Everything else was wonderful. They even sell their own merch, which is really cute.

I came in on a Saturday morning around 915am and this place was booming with customers. Luckily I made it a couple minutes early before they had another line out the door. First impression of this place is the cleanliness and how retro and chic it looks. This coffee joint definitely catches your attention. Merch, flowers, customized coffee cups (my favorite)...I definitely get the Carlsbad feel from this place. I decided to order the "Big Hot Mess" breakfast sandwich that did not disappoint on a brioche bun. I got recommended their "High Tide" signature drink which is one of their popular ones. Make sure you stir your drink completely so you can get the whole taste. If you like your coffee on the bitter side but with a hint of coconut then this drink is for you. Despite how busy the ladies were this morning they were extremely helpful and quickly got orders out. Thank you!
Came here for the Elite event. So good! Just down the road from my house. Walked in and was pleasantly greeted with a smile and good morning. Everyone in the shop was kind and friendly even with them being busy! The coffee was actually delicious (unlike those mainstream places) as was the breakfast sando. I'll definitely be back to this groovy little coffee shop. Oh! Also picked up this little hand knit Koozie as a gift for someone:)
What a cute spot tucked in this shopping center! We ordered an iced high tide latte (coconut vanilla) and the wake & bacon sandwich. The syrups and sauces are made in-house, and you could totally taste the difference - I have to ask for extra chipotle sauce next time! My drink was perfectly sweet and creamy, and the employees were so kind and generous, even with the crazy line this morning. I'll be back to try the honey cinnamon latte :))
The wife wanted a breakfast sandwich and we found this little cute spot in Carlsbad. First walking in, cute little store, was a little busy so you know it's good. They sell swag as well if you're interested. I ordered the wake and bacon sandwich, the person taking my order was super nice and sure to explain to me about any questions like what the drip coffee of the day was. My coffee came out pretty quick and it was hot, had to blow into the top a few tops to make sure I didn't burn my mouth. After a few moments my food came out after. Took a quick picture outside with my coffee, then took a bite. The bun wasn't over cooked or hard and the bacon was pretty good with the cheddar. Overall service was good, about 4-5 people working and constantly making food and drinks. The establishment was overall clean and I even saw a little kid station that young ones could pretend to be a barista. Overall happy with the service, coffee tasted great and food was yum! Drop by if you're in the area, won't be disappointed.

We were really excited to try this place. Everytime we go somewhere we love to try a local coffee shop. I got the high tide and my boyfriend got a vanilla latte. Not flavorful. I could taste as if the coffee grounds were burnt. We didnt enjoy our coffees sadly. read more

Just had the El Santo again, this time the 16 oz (with oat milk) which I was told now has 4 shots of espresso!! Never had that many, so game on!! So good! Also got the wake and bacon with the chipotle on the side and that was sooo good too! I don't usually like chipotle but this was the best chipotle I've ever had! Less smokey more spicy but perfect amount of spicy! Great way to start the day! Yay! :) Staff is very nice and restroom super clean! read more

Wow the ube syrup was soooo good!!! My boyfriend got a latte with the ube syrup and I got an oat milk matcha latte with ube syrup. The combination was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the drink overall was refreshing and creamy. The last time I ordered the matcha, it tasted just like milk, really lacking the matcha flavor. They've definitely improved their recipe because the oat milk matcha had such good matcha flavor. Will definitely be coming again read more

Had breakfast and coffee here and it was so busy here so told me it was definitely worth the wait. Didn't have a long wait for our coffee or at least it didn't feel like it. Had the Wake and Bacon & the Big Hot Mess sandwiches and wow, what a party in my mouth. The Wake and Bacon had the perfect texture of crispy bacon with chipotle sauce, omg so good! The Big Hot Mess was sweet & spicy at the same time, to me it was the perfect amount of spice but my husband likes spicy so he wanted like hot sauce to add to it. So we got lucky and they gifted us 2 additional drinks to our order. Coffee was strong but didn't taste too strong! They hit the nail on the head with their espresso to milk ratios, so good. I'd recommend the The Dream out of the 4 drinks I had there. How fun was it to play Street Fighter on Superninetdo btw? LOVED the 90s art. read more

A cozy space with a snug, yet welcoming seating layout, a menu filled with coffee varieties & a few breakfast sandwiches, sweet treats by the counter, and fast, friendly service. For this visit, I was after the sweet treats... THE FOOD. - Funfetti Bundt Cake. Soft, buttery vanilla cake with a light sweetness & sprinkles baked in, giving it a birthday cake vibe. - Peanut Butter & Chocolate Bundt Cake. Rich with a pronounced peanut butter flavor that stood out against the chocolate. THE PARKING. Free parking was available out front, but the green curb limited stays to 30 minutes. Longer-term parking was available nearby. THE VERDICT. With its warm, inviting atmosphere, this local coffee shop offers the kind of charm often missing from larger chain shops. Great local spot for quality lattes. Psychedelic nostalgic vibes. Hidden in a large shopping center between CVS and Planet Fitness. Parking is plentiful. Moderate amount of seating with a few indoor tables as well as a side patio. Loved the seasonal eggnog latte. Their signature macadamia nut latte is stellar as well. Only downside is they don't have my preferred milk options (nonfat or soy), but I settle for the 2% option. They also have whole, almond, and oat milk. Service is always stellar! read more

My husband and I came in on our way to Costco for our morning coffee. We use to come to this location every morning before work when it was the coffee bean. When we walked in, it was pretty busy which is a good sign. We were greeted by the owner, Mike. He walked us through the menu since it was our first time. It's very cool to learn more about their products. Mike was so passionate about what they have created. I felt like our time here was a whole experience! If your wanting to enjoy your coffee with a little something extra, I'd deffinitly recommend this spot. I got the high tide which is the coconut vanilla latte and my husband got the fuzzy friend which is the sparkling americano. We loved the unique twists they put into their coffee. When you drink coffee everyday, it's refreshing to try something new! We will deffinitly return! read more

Really enjoyed the bean and brew here! Got a seasonal banana latte, everything was balance and not too sweet. I recommended this place to my friend, he came shortly after and also enjoyed. They sell food here too which I heard/saw others ordering. Drinks don't come out ask quick as Starbucks but not too slow either. Employees are nice. Oh my goodness, highly recommend great experience! - Toddler moms* they have a cute play area with cash register, some play food in a basket, & old school wired telephone which was so fun! - Service was great super warm and friendly. Menu has all the classics with some unique ones too! - Big stand out for me their bagel with honey, walnut, orange zest cream cheese SO good and $4.50 is super reasonable for how gourmet it tasted! So the good, I think it's definitely a great concept like all cute indie coffee shops should be. I do think that they also have a primo location with the inside and outside seating areas. The ambiance is very vibey, cool and artistic. And the "shoulder shrug", the coffee itself. I'm not sure if I went in on a random off day but the coffee just wasn't doing it for me. I ordered a banana bread latte and I wanted to like it because I could tell the coffee itself was good quality, but the flavor was lacking. It was like someone whispered "banana" down my throat and that's about all I got. Verdict? Not sure if I'd be back since it's kind of out of the way for me, but maybe? I also had a bagel sandwich and a chiamisu. Both decent. The sandwich had a little spice which I thought was good but not sure if the food is supposed to be better than the coffee? The service? It was fine. I know the barista was talking to the people behind me from her workout class which is totally fine, I prefer when people are social but nothing stood out. First time visiting this cafe on my way to see my boyfriend and his family for the holidays! It's a very clean simple aesthetic inside so I decided it's a perfect relaxing spot for me to unwind between the family festivities of the holiday season. 5/5 The Dream Latte The barista recommended me "The Dream" latte because it's one of the regulars favs + Mac nut coffee sounded great as it reminds me of my trip to Hawaii! The macadamia nut flavor was strong and well blended into the milk and espresso. The oversized orca cup was a plus too because having your latte served in drinkware just makes it feel so cozy and well at home I will definitely be back later this trip to try their other iced drinks on their seasonal menu like the Banana Bread Head & Matcha flavors. I only wish they had a banana matcha flavor. I die anytime I see that flavor anywhere! read more

Do you ever have one of those days and it's going well and then it gets even better upon a new discovery? That was the day when I arrived at Dreamwave Coffee. First, they entered the market where good coffee was sorely needed. I go to this center as they have a Dexter's a couple doors down on the regular so it is convenient. Second, when I walked through the door I was greeted by an eager and friendly staff. I don't think I've experienced this much enthusiasm (like anywhere) in a long time. It was contagious. Third, the coffee is excellent. The owner is the roaster and so you get local small batched beans and you can taste it. I shared some info on our local San Diego coffee crawls so others can get a taste too! Go here for the convenience, the friendly staff and just really good coffee. Stand alone - it's where the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf used to be. In the same strip as Mexico Viejo, Hooked on Sushi, Dexter's Deli etc.
Can you guys make horchata lattes?
Yes, it is one of our specialty drinks called the El Santo! :)
