    SL28 pour over

most THOROUGH coffee tour EVER. reuban the owner (i think?) went through an EXTREMELY detailed process of explaining everything coffee related from the bean to the flavors to the way they make each cup of coffee. he picked out different pour over options to let us try a spectrum of flavors and presented each one to us. i've never learned SO MUCH about coffee and the pour overs were seriously PERFECT. WOWWW. extremely underrated place. outside area even has a super cute pond w koi fish & turtles and lilly pads & a waterfall it's seriously SO beautiful!!! this place is DEFINITELY worth the visit!!!

Nestled in between business buildings in a kiosk, this coffee place is a hidden gem for the true coffee connoisseurs. No fluff here. During the time we went, 10:30am on Monday, there were plenty of parking all around the building where it is located. And only a couple people in the seating area by the koi pond. It was so quiet and peaceful. Only the sound of water pouring into the pond. A family owned business, Reuben the owner, knows his craft. He is so kind to explain all the variations of the pour-over menu items and we definitely tasted what we happily expected. Their coffees are SO good!! And the matcha latte surpassed my daughter's expectations and LOVED her drink. Perfectly balanced. Reuben's daughter, Paola, working with him, was equally friendly and helpful with the other menu items as well. We tried the jalapeño ham & cheddar croissant & the ham & swiss croissant, both were toasted in a panini press. Delicious! And the chocolate chip cookie, lightly salted. SO thick & good! Overall, it was a great experience. Not a huge menu but quality items. It's definitely top notch and we're going back!! Also I might add, they're only open til 2:00pm on the weekdays, closed at this location on the weekends because they're at farmer's markets.

Coffee: I'm really not the type to exaggerate, but this was the best iced coffee I've had in a while. Several different types of beans are available if you prefer specific regions/flavors over others. Food: Ham & Swiss Croissant was excellent. Freshly made, and it was carefully cut evenly in the middle for convenient eating. Service: Super nice guy. Went out of his way to suggest one coffee type over another given what I was going for and time of day. Parking: Plenty. Parking lot adjacent to corporate offices. Seating: Outdoor 4-person tables next to the coffee shop. Umbrellas and overhead shade, a few sets of comfy lounge chairs. Vibe: Koi pond with ducks, turtles, etc with a mini bridge connecting the parking lot to the shop really set the mood. Perfect for solo adventures as well as datesn, casual studying/relaxing. Best for sunny weather days.

Wanted a good coffee/latte and found this spot near our hotel. Iced vanilla latte was super well-balanced and not too sweet! I loved that I can still taste the espresso, even with the vanilla. Definitely one of my favorite vanilla lattes ever. Owner is super nice and it being situated near a koi pond with lots of seating and tables made the experience great!

Origen is definitely not in a place you'd expect to find a coffee shop but it has quickly become one of my favorites. There aren't any fancy flavors, but you don't need them when the drink is made perfectly. Service is always fantastic and there's a neat Koi pond next to the coffee stand where you can enjoy your coffee. They aren't open on weekends, but that's because they're usually at the Vista farmers market.

When you find amazing coffee in a business park across the street from a local airport you know you are winning! I could have stayed a had more coffee! This place will be on my list whenever I visit the area and I am looking forward to ordering some beans online!

Can't speak on the espresso, but had a pleasant drip coffee here. Located between many different corporate offices, which means there's plenty of seating around. If I were in the area more, it'd be a great option for working or conversation. Owner is super friendly and really knows his way around the beans and their origin. All the flavor notes and origin details are listed, and you can buy small bags directly from him. I'm more than willing to pay for coffee from here than any big chain.

Today being "National Coffee Day" and all, we couldn't resist the urge to try a new place and that led us to Origen Coffee Roasters. Tucked in between several office buildings, this quaint little place keeps it simple with limited menu options and outdoor seating only. While this isn't the place you camp out for the day because of the free Wifi and background music, this is a great option if you need a quick infusion of caffeine while juggling many things on a busy day. And that's...Henry's Take. #carlsbadcoffee

Mike and the entire team at Dreamwave are doing such an incredible job of making the experience worth every penny. The quality of the coffee, the work they do, and the service they provide is truly top tier. While they do have a lot of fun flavors, this is not the kind of place that drowns the palate with sweetness. They expertly balance the ratio of syrup, milk, and espresso to provide the best outcome. The nuttiness of their roast really shines, and they're always happy to adjust the sweetness if you need them to. Personally, I love the lower sweetness level being the default. These guys know what they're doing! We've been visiting for the past week and have stopped through Dreamwave four times this week. While I'm always in the need of a coffee fix, we've gone out of our way to visit multiple times because the people have been so beyond kind. We've sampled most of the house flavors and I can confidently say they have all been delicious. This would definitely be my go-to shop if I lived nearby.

Walking up there was a bit of a line but it was moving at a fair pace. It gave us the opportunity to really read the menu above the register well. There's both outdoor and indoor seating. And both areas were pretty full with a bustling vibe. There were specialty drinks so I wanted to try the Pistachio latte but they were out so we ended up trying the Left Coast latte, Vanilla Bean latte, a plain bagel and Lil Dippers. The lattes were wonderful. Smooth and tasty. The Lil Dippers (mini burritos) were pretty substantial and the plain bagel surprisingly was the best we've ever had at any coffee place. SO good! Great taste and perfect texture. It was unfortunate though that the cream cheese cup that comes with it didn't suffice. It wasn't at all enough for a good ratio. And to think that at one point my bagel was forgotten by the employees. I would've missed out! Overall, we're so glad we went, it was worth it!

I didn't notice it driving around the parking lot. I had to call only to leave a voice message asking where is Bird Rock. I walked around for about 10 minutes until I finally found it. They should have outdoor signs to make it easier to spot while driving.

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!
