James Coffee is a small independently owned coffee place with a few locations throughout San Diego. This location took over the old Archer Arrow coffee place, and I'm so glad they're nearby!! The house-made chai latte ($6.50) is creamy and smooth. Perfect for an afternoon pick me up. The cortado was perfect! Strong yet subtly sweet and the perfect way to wake up on a Monday morning. +$1 for milk / dairy substitutes (oat and almond) $19.99 for a bag of beans (12 oz). Comes with free drip coffee. The person behind the counter was super sweet and friendly; she answered all my questions. She even gave me a heads up of what they were out of in advance before coming to the register to place my order. I'll be back for a good ol latte in the next few days. The night owl espresso roast always hits the spot (bold with the subtle chocolate taste)!

Hi, this is the first time I've visited this place and it was very disappointing. The customer service was excellent and the coffee was good too, but the food was terrible. The avocado was awful, the bread was hard, and the tomato looked like it had been put on whole. Honestly, I don't recommend it. I felt like I almost broke my teeth on the bread. Oh my God, and the limousines they provided were the worst, everything was ruined.

    How is this avocado toast?

The coffee was good enough. But then I got my avocado toast... terrible avocado spread on un-toasted bread and a couple slices of tomato- $11 plus I paid an extra $2.50 for the hard boiled egg. I couldn't get past one bite. My husband ate only half of his subpar $14 breakfast bagel that came with a microwaved square egg patty. If you need coffee then you're ok. Don't get anything to eat. It should not be on the menu of a coffee shop if it's not as good as gas station food.

Dear Yelp Community, Welcomes to Vista, James Coffee Co.! Glad that a coffee shop remains in this commercial space, which is part of a mixed use building with housing located in the historic/old downtown area of Vista. Friendly staff, and will take the time to provide personalized service. Fresh industrial interior design, with indoor and outdoor seating. Great drink presentation (I ordered an espresso with a touch of milk). Continued well wishes. Sincerely, Anna

The coffee was great and the service was super fast. I got the rancher drink and it was super good. Would definitely go again.

Great coffee and great service. They have free WiFi and nice outside seating available. Good for bigger groups too.

I have visted the original locations near Mission in Oceanside for years. It's great to have another in the neighborhood. I almost always get a mocha here, as they know what they are doing with craft coffee. I love thier hot cups too, they are not flimsy! My favorite of BD is the art and merch available. They have cozy fleece banana sweatshirts to custom art on the walls for sale. Go here, have the coffee - Dang it's good. Note to Self: Try a Banana Dang specialty coffee on your next visit. A kind of play on; no shoes, no shirt, no service...there was a Ryan Gosling pic that used to say something like; Wear a shirt, unless you are Ryan Gosling. Now, there is Bad Bunny... #Dang #BananaDang #Vista #CraftCoffee

If you love banana-anything, this spot is a no brainer! They also have a lot of non-banana options (e.g. straight lattes, americanos, fruit smoothies, etc.) I wish you could get larger sizes, but as with a lot of niche coffee shops, they only have 1 size offering. The Dirty Nutty Dang was decadent and delish - banana chocolately peanut buttery smoothie with 2 shots of espresso. The ShakEned BaNana was also a hit - a smoothe banana flavored latte with oak milk. Definitely a fun place to try for your next coffee outing!

I've come here multiple times a week since it opened because I can walk here from work. Not long ago many of the long time employees began disappearing and a new person seems to be in charge. I'm not sure if she bought the place or was put in charge but things immediately went downhill- -Some of the menu changed and drinks/ food quality dropped. My order often comes out wrong. - The place is now *filthy*. Tables are always dirty and the bathroom is nasty. As I was waiting for my order I leaned on a table and put my hand down on something sticky with several long black hairs stuck to it. I never eat in any more. - The new manager is incredibly abrasive and unprofessional. She always complaining loudly to her employees while they work and it's sometimes about customers. (She called a guy who called in an order "stupid.") She and her family members often take up multiple tables in the cafe even when it's busy. I know they have an office so why is she always taking up a table for four with her paperwork? I've seen people looking for a table and then leave because she and her family had spread across mulitiple tables (for only a couple of people.) - There's often only one (nice) young lady working behind the counter so things go *slow*. I don't know if they're understaffed because they're cutting corners, but I will say that turnover seems high lately. Gee, I wonder why? I will keep picking up my black coffee here but I will never stay or get something "fancy" ever again. Maybe visit the cats but don't expect a nice place to hang/work.

The store has a unique vibe, with old VHSs playing, a giant astronaut mural, tech decks, and other knickknacks. Try their cortado, "youniverse" cold brew, or cappuccino. They also serve a bunch of single serve clever drip coffees, loose-leaf teas, and even kombucha! Whether you're a coffee lover or just interested in cool spaces, be sure to check out this shop while you're out and about in Vista! Update: Been back several times since my original review. Still love this place's vibe, aesthetic, and attention to quality. Every drink is really good, and they are serious about their coffee and brewing.
