Stopped by Ascend Coffee in Vista and was surprised by how big the space is. It has plenty of seating and seems like a nice spot if you want to hang out or get some work done. I ordered the caramel brulee with 20 percent sugar, but it was not for me. The coffee itself tasted a little burnt and somehow was still overly syrupy sweet. I was hoping the lower sugar level would let more of the coffee flavor come through, but the drink just felt unbalanced. The staff was friendly and the service was good, so I appreciated that. I admittedly got a coupon in the mail to try this place out and I'm so glad I did! This place is tucked away in Vista but the location is huge -- I'm wondering what, if anything else, they'll add to it. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the vanilla cinnamon latte with oat milk -- a large comes with three shots which is music to my ears. The latte was a perfect balance of sweet and spice and you definitely tasted the coffee, which is important to me. I also treated myself to the Santa Fe bagel which was packed with flavor and ingredients! Definitely worth the price and I would order it again. This is a cute spot to enjoy a drink/ bite while your little one/ones can run around and play for a bit. I like how open it is, and even has a little area for younger babies to crawl around with some toys. Plus there's a a patio area as well, that also has a few things to entertain the kiddos. The drinks are decent, but not a huge fan of the food. Overall, I really appreciate how kid friendly it is and think it's a fun spot to hang out with friends and the kiddos! read more

This place is impressive. They make an awesome brown sugar Macchiato that is $7 for a large. The staffers are the friendliest people and calmly eager to help with all of your needs. The venue is Huge and they host several events here too. Things like makers markets and an upcoming cultural event. They make their pastries in house and the lemon muffins and chocolate croissants are scrumptious!! Once you have them you'll be craving them. I know I already am! My daughter and I sat on the patio that had both sun and some shade during the early evening gathering here. Uh-mazing ! We are looking forward to trying more items from here next time. read more

Saw this place advertised on social media several times and decided to stop by. It is a very nice location. There is a lot of seating both inside and outside the building. Lots of people working remotely, myself included. This does seem to be a place where parents take their kids so there were many yelling kids while I was there but nothing headphones couldn't block out. I tried 2 drinks and 1 food item while I was there. The burrito was amazing! I definitely recommend it, the flavors were very good and the sauce has just the right amount of kick. Both of the drinks I got were just okay, they weren't bad but nothing about them stood out to me. Most people had ice teas while I was there. Most of the staff I interacted with were great. Super disappointed that I payed $8.30 for this matcha! This was my first time going and I was excited to try (I saw they have ceremonial grade matcha on their menu so I had high hopes). There is barely any matcha in my drink, the color is alarming!! I do not know how this place is not famous because it is one of the places I bring everyone who visits North County to. Definitely a great place to study, work, or bring kids to play. Oh, Ascend Roasters -- where hospitality goes to die and a place that masquerades as child-friendly clearly is not. My friend and I came in today with our three infants, thinking we'd enjoy a nice morning and support a local spot. Big mistake. We dropped over $30 on a sad panini, bland avocado toast, and a forgettable coffee. For those prices, you'd hope for decent food -- or at the very least, air conditioning. Instead, we got a sweltering room full of flies. Nothing says "artisanal café" quite like batting away bugs while sweating through your latte. But the real masterpiece was the customer service. As we were leaving, I asked if we could get a few ounces of milk to top up my baby's bottle. You'd think I'd asked for liquid gold. The baristas looked like I'd just broken a company policy they made up five minutes ago and scurried off to find their manager. Enter the manager -- who must have a PhD in Missing the Point. She told me they "sell 10oz kids cups" (how helpful!) even after I said we just needed a few ounces. Then she proudly returned with *a condiment container* of milk, like she was performing some grand act of generosity. When I asked for it in a cup, she declared, "This is a business. I can't give any more because I buy the milk." Iconic. Truly. Nothing screams good business sense like nickel-and-diming moms over a few ounces of milk after they've already paid thirty bucks. Honestly, if you're looking for overpriced food, sauna-like temperatures, and management that treats milk like it's a controlled substance -- this is your place. As for me, I'll take my money somewhere that remembers what customer service and common sense look like. Ascend Roasters has officially descended to the bottom of my list. read more

Everything is super spread out so it feels a little empty since it's a multi use space. This space is probably perfect for kids, they do have a huge space for babies to play. Tons of parking. The coffee here was not it. The espresso based drinks that I ordered were overly dry (too much foam) and completely washed out any flavor from the coffee. The steamed milk was also burnt. I did not enjoy any of the drinks here. The one saving grace was the chocolate croissant which had a decent amount of chocolate filling. The space here is an event space so it is very and oddly spacious. Parking here is easy but I recommend folks go through Vista Downtown for other coffee places. read more

This is a daily go to for us! We usually get latte's and they're always nice and hot with full coffee flavor, not just hot milk with a light tan color! Staff knows us by name and treats us like family. There is indoor and outdoor seating, a large playpen area for little ones, and it's dog friendly. They also have excellent pastries and breakfast/ lunch food options. Plenty of parking and large enough for group meetings. Give them a try! read more

Ive been here a few times. Food is reasonably priced and tastes pretty good. Coffee was great, and service was quick. I love that they have a gated area in the middle for babies and toddlers and an outdoor space. Free wifi is a plus. The music is kept pretty loud if you're trying to work inside. There are only 2 plug ins for electricity. 3 if you pull a table to the other side. One thing I found a little weird, I see the same girl with short skirts and half of her butt hanging out while walking thru the cafe. read more

I was sooo excited to come to this shop and get a matcha because I've had three different friends tell me that the matcha is the best they ever had!! I went on 4/27 and first off was not welcomed or greeted in any way :( I then ordered a plain unsweetened iced matcha and a sweetened iced matcha with cold foam on top. I do not consider myself picky about my food or drinks but when I tell you I wanted to cry after seeing the color of my matcha, I just knew it wouldn't be yummy. The color was closer to brown than a vibrant matcha green. So sad. It tasted like nothing, just milk. And the sweetened one just tasted like milk and sweetener. :(. Could not even drink it. I told this to my friends who recommended it to me and they were shocked and didn't believe me and went in the next day to get matchas and they agreed that it was horrible. :( Not sure what changed but very disappointing especially for the price. :( Hopefully the shop can improve in this area and I'll come back another day and get a super yummy matcha!! Had heard about Ascend and have driven by a few times, decided to stop this morning. To start, the space is bright and welcoming, not to mention the beautiful breeze flowing through. There was live music, he sounded wonderful. I was torn between two drinks and the cashier shared what was the most popular of the two and why she liked the other better based on her likes. I went with the Cinnamon Vanilla Latte, which was delicious. When my name was called to pick up my coffee and mentioned how beautiful the space was, that's when I learned the woman making my coffee was Erin the owner. Both she and the cashier were wonderful. If I hadn't been to Trader Joe's and had frozen stuff in my trunk, I would have gotten something to eat and enjoyed the amazing ambience. I'll be back soon to do just that. read more

Cool new coffee shop in Vista. I had a lavender matcha latte which was pretty tasty. The area is really big and spacious. We were told it's used for church services on Sundays. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other drinks on the menu. read more

The owner, Erin, is always kind and warm when seeing her - she is personable and I love getting to connect with her. All staff has been nothing short of amazing. Jesse is our favorite, he always remembers my order, he is so sweet and genuine. I love seeing Chaan, she is so sweet! Kelly is so kind. Seriously feel so loved being able to be in this positive environment. I can bring my son with me to play in the baby area, and work at a table - I meet with friends often and it is such an easy place to be. I love the crafted drinks, they are so good and I love that it is a woman owned business! I love ALLL the pastries, they are always baked well and so yummy. The whole menu for breakfast and lunch - so good! Love Ascend!!!! I was so sad when the San Marcos location closed and thrilled when this new location opened. I love how kid friendly it is. I took my boys on Saturday planning to stay just a few minutes and spent an hour. They watched the music and then played outside on the awesome patio! I also come to get studying done during the week. It's a large enough space to accommodate all vibes The coffee is amazing, love the brown sugar macchiato and the seasonal cardamom latte. Food and pastries are always good. My kids really like the smoothies here and I like that they have real fruit Love everything about this new location and so happy you guys are back in the area!!! read more
