Upon arrival, we were not greeted. She didn't tell us anything so we assumed we had to seat ourselves. We had to wait 20+ minutes for our menus. The waitress just seemed really out of it. It was really awkward. We had to remind her twice for our coffees, and it took her a while to take down our orders. There was another couple who left before ordering their food, I'm sure it was because of the same reason. It was fairly empty when we walked in, like I had mentioned earlier, there was only one couple seated before us. Gave me mom and pop shop vibes. But here's the kicker: do not let that stop you from ordering the food here. If you can withstand mediocre customer service, the food here is phenomenal. My husband encouraged me to stay even though I wanted to leave and I'm glad we stayed for the food. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs and it was absolutely delicious. It was nice and crispy even though it was smothered in sausage gravy. The home fries were tasty too. It was crispy and tasted perfect! My husband got The Frenchie, and he liked it a lot. He said shout out to the hard working Latinos in the kitchen. And my son got the Cinnamon roll pancakes. Overall, this place would have been a 3/5 if the waitress would have been more attentive, or at least communicated with us.

The staff was very friendly, and the food was very delicious! Would recommend to others

Sometimes... you can go home again. Having graduated from Vista High in 1986, Allen's Alley was always a mainstay for weekend breakfasts or the mid week lunch. I moved away a long time ago and I hadn't eaten here in over 40 years. I was glad to see that it was still a running restaurant (though the name changed a while ago) staffed with some of the original cooks. I had to order my same order which consisted of 1/2 order of biscuit's and gravy, crispy hash browns and a single over-medium egg. I sat in the back, sipped on my coffee, and just wallowed in the nostalgia of that little hole in wall breakfast place that still serves a decent breakfast at a reasonable price. My entire meal with coffee was around $12 and that's a bargain anywhere. If you are driving through Vista, CA and you need a decent meal at a fair price, do yourself a favor and visit Mom's Kitchen (there a small framed photograph of it as Allen's Alley inside near the door - give it a gentle tap for good luck).

We stopped by on a busy Saturday morning, and even though the place was packed, the service was warm and welcoming. An older woman (I'm really hoping she was "Mom" herself!) greeted us with the kindest smile and made the whole experience feel like breakfast at home. We sat at the bar, and our food and drinks came out fast. I ordered the mimosa flight, and wow -- each one had the perfect ratio of crisp champagne to fresh, flavorful juice. The cinnamon roll pancakes were absolutely to die for -- fluffy, sweet, and perfectly glazed. Everything from the vibe to the food just hit right. I'd 100% come back again -- such a gem of a spot in Vista!

We love Mom's Kitchen! They have the best gluten free griddle I've ever tasted. We love this place and have never had any food we don't like. We love the Lox, biscuits & gravy, the cinnamon roll French toast is out of this world and the sandwiches are all great as well. Outdoor seating complements the indoor dinner with counter service. The only downside is that it's popular and small so you'll usually encounter a wait on the weekends but the location is a nice place to walk around for 15 min while you wait your turn.

Cute small hole in the wall, but the food was a solid 3/5. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible. My veggie omelette was kind of bland so I needed to pour cholula all over it. Hashbrowns were very mediocre, wasn't crispy at all. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and it was very average.

Definitely your traditional old skool diner. Food is ok, service is ok, ambiance is cool being in the heart of the village. Overall has the look & feel of a diner which feels cozy & nostalgic. I got steak & eggs. The steak was supposed to be medium but was cooked medium-well/well. It was tough and chewy. It seemed as if there were only 3 people working and we were sat immediately on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. That should've been the sign that it wasn't maybe the best spot. Our server was sweet but because she was the only server and food runner service is more on the slow side.

Amazing food very friendly crew very wholesome. It's a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. The people working are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend

Ordered from doordash, not only had cold french toast but there was a hair in it! To make matters worse the sausage was completely raw inside and when ordering a biscuit even though they have the picture with gravy, its just a plain tasteless buscuit with butter. Dont bother eating here!

Stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast what a cute place. The minute we walked in we were greeted with smiles, and a welcoming spirit sat down at the counter and immediately received great service ordered a mimosa flight, which was yummy and was excited to find out that they had gluten-free pancakes and waffles, which allowed me to order their special gluten-free Cinnamon roll, pancakes and boy were they good! Can't wait to return if you're ever in Vista this is a must visit. Stop for breakfast or lunch.

No, I don't believe that they did. It's a breakfast/brunch place. The coffee was delicious!

It didn't look quite as appetizing as I was hoping at first, and after letting it sit for a bit while catching up with a friend, it felt a little underwhelming. Not bad by any means--just not the standout choice I was expecting. I know Pegah's is really known for their chicken and waffles, and in hindsight I probably should have gone that route. Definitely planning to try that next time around. Still a nice spot to relax and chat, and I'm open to giving it another shot with a different order.

Went here with 5 other people and almost all our meals had something wrong. Either our food was raw/undercooked, unsalted, cold, or semi stale; there was always something wrong with our food. I should've know when I stepped into this place and it was full but almost everyone there would leave their plates as if they didn't eat anything. I as well had seen two tables complaining about something wrong with their order. To me this place is a flavorless place with a weird ambiance. The servers are not the nicest either, just a place ran by a bunch of clueless staff. Especially those in the kitchen since nothing was really good or stood out in a positive manner. If you expect seasoned and delicious food, I would not recommend this place.

If I could give it a ZERO for this visit I would! I have been going to Connie's for several years…read moredined outside etc. Met Coninie several times she showed us around and talked about all the wall goodies where they were from with MUCH pride she was a ball of joy!! BUT in the past year plus something has "drastically" changed in her personality, the last time I was in before this past week, she looked depressed and ready to give up, she said she was tired and her chef was out sick. I came very close to offering her a break and running her restaurant for a couple of weeks, FREE. I have many years of restaurant business, owned my own back in the day, and a great cook, so this would've been a piece of cake. I didn't but I decided to take a friend there last Wednesday from out of town. We sat down, she had a few tables but by no means busy, she came over to take our order, my friend ordered coffee, me water. She brought those like it was the toughest thing she had done that day, her energy was so DARK and ICCKY, I wanted to leave before we got started but we were hungry and had a big day planned. She was not the least bit FRIENDLY, I placed my order and asked if it would be possible to get my waffle after my main meal. If looks could "KILL", she glared disgustingly at me and said, "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME" I didn't quite know what to say it was a very simple request I wasn't asking to substitute or anything other than A TIME DEAL. She huffed and puffed and said, "I have that big table out there so it's gonna be awhile". It was a 6 top, WHOOPEE! I said that's fine, my friend ordered and she walked away, I sat for a minute and thought HELL NO, I will not be treated this way by anyone especially the owner of the restaurant and subject my friend to her ICKYNESS on her vacation! So I got up walked over to her open kitchen and said, "I think we will go somewhere we feel more wanted". she looked up glared and said fine! We started to walk out and she came out and said $3.00 for the coffee, like she was A DRILL SARGENT! I would have said, bleep, bleep, bleep BUT..... MY friend hadn't even touched it but put the $3.00 down and asked for a to go cup. That made her even madder, my firend said, tough day?AND her excuse yet again was her cook was sick. Sorry lady that only works for awhile and why was that our problem. I personally think it's time for her to retire with that attitude! We decided to go down to our new local restaurant "BLACK BEAR DINER"! What a great experience, had an excellent meal and service was awesome too. Will never return to Connie's NEGATIVE diner. Head the warning!
