Coffee in PB? Plenty of options around the neighborhood, but I really liked Pump. Pump is located near the beach in that Promenade mall of shops/cafes. My mother likes staying at those beachfront hotels over there and while she might be happy with her room's coffee pot, I definitely am not. We trekked to Pump for a little something for me. The shop interior is cozy, there's some outside seating, the menu has some variety for coffee purists and those who want all the sugar/anything but coffee flavor, and the barista was friendly. Basically an ideal coffee shop to me. They have some pastries and quite a few drinks that sounded good. Mint Macha and Rose Lavender Lattes? Ooo. But I needed coffee and some sugar so I ordered a Caramel Macchiato. I don't always go for the caramel, but it was a good call here. Wasn't too sweet and it didn't mask all the coffee flavor, just a nicely balanced caramel drink. I took my drink to the beach since it's just a couple minutes stroll from the door to the boardwalk wall where I planned to sit. Going to the beach in the daytime hours isn't something I do often as I sizzle like a pale little sausage. But I will say there's something nice about watching the waves and sipping your sugared caffeine...at least before the sun gets too high and I feel like a strip of bacon. Pump will be a go-to when I'm in the area and needing a little extra pep and a bit of that caffeinated wave watching. read more

We came here 3 times during our short trip because we enjoyed the coffee so much. The staff is so friendly and the one girl even remembered my order. I always like to judge a place by their black coffee and my boyfriend (who is pretty picky with black coffee) loved it. My caramel latte with oat milk was delicious. The hubby and I have a Sunday ritual where we grab a bite for breakfast before the city wakes up and get coffee afterwards. On this trip, we stopped for breakfast down the road in PB and walked to get Pump Coffee after seeing the positive reviews. We were greeted by the dynamic duo better known as the husband and wife team running this joint. They were SO nice, friendly, inviting and on top of their game. The rose lavender latte seemed to be the most popular drink when we visited, with the person in front and the 2 folks behind us ordering it. The ham and cheese croissant was also a big hit with different parties ordering it and then cheering when they scored the last one. My husband's iced vanilla latte with almond milk was delicious, not overly sweet, smooth and the espresso strong and not bitter. We'll definitely be back to take in the conversation and hang out in their cozy shop. read more

I ordered the rose lavender latte, and it's honestly the best lavender latte I've had. So refreshing and great price for quantity! Honestly, I really came here to validate my parking as the garage gave us 2 hours free with a validated ticket from an establishment in the shopping center. We were heading to the beach and as always there is no free parking anywhere in Pacific Beach. But... I don't regret getting me a couple of cold brews that were spectacularly well brewed. The service was really friendly and apologetic for the wait since she was the only barista. It's a small establishment with only a few tables inside. It's a friendly ambiance and really laid back. This is the cutest little coffee shop! We were staying at the Beach Cottages next door and decided to stop in. The service was excellent - very friendly and took the time to explain each pastry option. I chose a raspberry pop tart and while it was beautiful, I was underwhelmed as it was a very small amount of filling and a lot of crackly pastry. But there were other options that I would definitely try next time. Cute hip coffee shop by the beach. Welcoming staff- I placed two orders: brown sugar latte and pistachio latte. The description of the drinks sounded so good as I normally don't order sweet drinks. I usually judge a coffee shop by its cappuccinos, so there's a little bias. I would have come back again but no time. I gave this place 3 stars because I ordered the drinks with milk and it was made with two percent instead of whole (too late to have them remake it and I don't like to be that mad extra person). This little spot was a godsend for us while we were staying in PB at a little beach condo. The coffee is DELICIOUS and I stuck to it daily, h the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Latte with Oat Milk. My favorite part of my experience during one of my visits was this adorable girl who took our order while I was there with my young son.
