I used to come here a lot more in my 20s... I'm 35 now. It's always been consistent. I've never had a bad experience. There is seating outside you can eat your food at. Inside the shop, it has an old beachy sandwich shop vibe which I hope never changes. Great memories coming here. Will continue to come. Expect to spend around an average of $20 here.

This shop on Avenida De La Playa, which is the Main Street closed off from cars, so people can walk freely, but parking is a challenge. The cheese shop can't be missed, with the green ivy covered store front. It's standing round only, no seating inside but limited outside seating. You order from the counter and they bring your order to you if you decide to sit outside. I selected the popular sandwich: Turkey, Jack Cheese and Avocado on sourdough bread with every veggie: lettuce, tomato, red onion was all it had. Just baked from the oven were the famous oatmeal cookies in caramel and chocolate, looked so yummy I didn't order any but the guy behind the counter complementary gifted a pair to me, so nice, friendly and cool!! Inside the shop didn't appear clean, I would describe the ambiance as divey. Sat outside and shortly my order was presented nicely wrapped sandwich and warm cookies. Took pics and took a bite and my consensus is that I was not a fan of this sandwich because I really prefer smoked turkey and not plain turkey. The sandwich looked subpar, the layering of ingredients weren't assembled as aesthetically layered as it can be and tasted just ok. My pup usually doesn't like smoked turkey or unfresh meats but she liked this plain roast turkey, which means it's more likely fresh and pass her approval. She also ate the contents of the sandwich sans the bread and onions of course. The oatmeal cookies were a real treat and lived up to the hype, kind of gooey, yummy and good for you...hence oats is fiber! As a cheese aficionado, this shop is not really a cheese shop with no abundant cheese selections. The shop should just be named sandwich shop, since sandwiches and candies seem to be their cash cows. I had a gelato craving while hanging in UTC and knew exactly where to go. On a Saturday night there were about 10 people in line, but there were several people helping them in the line moved quickly. They were happy to let people try samples, but I had someone waiting in the car. So I got a regular with three flavors without tasting first. They had several kinds of chocolate, and I chose the Belgian. Then I got both of their kinds of pistachio, regular, and then chocolate covered (kind of like Dubai chocolate, I guess). The pistachio was absolutely my favorite. So creamy and delicious. The Belgian was not particularly memorable, but that's on me for not checking which chocolate was most interesting. I might get the hazelnut next time. Anyway, this hit the spot! And it's great that they let me try three flavors in a little cup, so that my treating myself was not a massive calorie bomb. Great place to have yummy gelato with lots of flavored choices, and very easy parking in La Jolla Village Square. Glad to have them in this neighborhood!

My aunt recommended Bacio di Latte to me, saying it became one of her favorite gelato spots. I had to come try it out! First look, it's very clean and pretty. The interior was great, but they could open up the space with more seating if they took away the thick border edge around the windows. I thought it was interesting how they had +5 security cameras in the shop as well. The gelatos were all so vibrant and delicious looking. I made sure to taste a sorbet flavor, the raspberry, it had great tart flavor and not icy at all. Next time I'd try more flavors, although I wasn't sure how many was ok to taste. In the end, I ordered Pistachio Gelato on a Waffle Cone. The waffle cone was delicious and it had a slight amaretto or almond? flavor to it. It reminded me of pizzelle. The pistachio gelato was reminiscent of salted pistachios. It was fresh, smooth, and flavor was spot on. Tasted real and not artificial in any way! I really enjoyed it. However, the price was on the expensive side. They use real ingredients and make it fresh everyday which is great to hear. The cookies looked delicious in the case, the price however was not justified. The cookie is thin and the $6 price was just insane. I tried the chocolate chip one which had great dark chocolate notes. And I had the oat lace covered in chocolate with maple cream sandwiched inside. That one I was excited for but it was really disappointing. It tasted borderline burnt & the maple interior was very oily. I've had better chocolate lace cookies from Trader Joe's. Overall, I'd recommend the gelato & sorbets if you want to splurge on a dessert! They also had affogatos if that's your thing.

Service: They're pretty nice, quick, and helpful. The bagels came out a lot faster than I thought. Ambiance: Not a lot of seating but still a busy atmosphere with people inside and outside. Your main options are a 3- ($15), 6- ($24), or 12-pack ($48) of bagels, the 2 aforementioned coming with 1 tub of schmear, the 12-pack with 2. There are plain, everything, poppy, salt, and sesame bagels with a number of schmears, some flavors which appear to rotate. I chose the 3 bagel pack though there was a wait for the poppy so they gifted me with a 4th bagel which was nice. The poppy bagel, while incredibly messy, was uh-mazing with the scallion cream cheese. Definitely save said tub of cream cheese for later. I ate it outside at the tables, grabbing a paper plate and utensils from the front counter. The bagels were quite dense and chewy though the outer layer not as crusty until it cooled. This did make it a little annoying to cut the bagel in half to schmear the inside. My strategy to eat another bagel the next day and freeze the others after they cooled proved to be the best. I just defrosted the next bagel in the fridge the night before. This prevented them from getting rock hard, a constant complaint, as I've been told. While the amount of carbs every day would cause many to pause in this toxic carb-fearing world, to me carbs are fuel. Never ever fear the carbs and eat your bagel enamored heart out!

First, while we were waiting for our table, we were told that the coffee near the check-in area was complimentary while we waited. When we were seated, we brought our coffee cups with us, only to find out later that we had been charged $5 each for our coffees. We didn't say anything, but it definitely didn't leave the best taste in our mouths. So double check your bill if you pick up a free coffee while waiting for your table. One of my favorite meals here is the risotto Benedict. It was still good, but unfortunately, it didn't taste quite as good as it normally does. After we left, my stomach was very upset, and I ended up having to make an emergency stop at the La Jolla Shores bathrooms before heading home. Our waiter was also a little slow. It took quite a while for our water to give us water after a long walk on the beach and then our bill took forever as well. On top of that, the waiter commented "Impressive" because I had finished my entire plate. I had been fasting for 24 hours, but regardless, I don't think commenting on how much a customer eats is really appropriate. It was just a little strange. Anyway, just a heads-up. I'm sure I'll come back, and hopefully everything will be back to normal and great as usual!

Jade our waitress was very friendly and nice. She was very patient and professional and listened to us in a kind way. With young ones with us, it is challenging. However, Jade ensured that we enjoyed our meal at the Shorehouse Kitchen. At brunch, my go to dish is the French toast that will tell me the quality and care from the kitchen. I was blown away at how delicious the French Toast was. The name is the "CARAMELIZED TAHITIAN VANILLA BEAN FRENCH TOAST with Fresh Blueberries or Bananas and Chantilly Cream, or a Grilled Pineapple". Jade gave away the secret ingredient to me and I was impressed. An applied Maillard reaction with brown sugar brought the French Toast a new level of yumminess. The Chantilly Cream took it over the top, not to sweet and very creamy. Yum!!! Also tried the "RASPBERRY TRUFFLE MOCHA St. George Vanilla Bean Vodka. Raspberry Liqueur, Callebaut Belgian Chocolate, Espresso, Steamed Milk, Chantilly Cream" . AMAZING!!! The Shorehouse Kitchen is a gem with fantastic food and service. Definitely a return visit call for the family!!!
