Stopped in to B&B for a mixed berry smoothie at 9am. It took about ten minutes to be ready. I really enjoyed it as it was fresh & not too sweet. Service was fast & friendly and the price for the medium smoothie was very reasonable! A few of the kids who were with me were disappointed because they ran out of cinnamon rolls, but otherwise, they were happy with our little snacky stop. Plenty of outdoor seating as always. Cute little brick building right in the heart of La Jolla. I originally added this place to my list while wandering around the neighborhood and ended up coming back another day to check it out. It's a charming little café with no indoor seating, but they have plenty of covered outdoor tables, which makes it a great spot to sit, study, or get some work done. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but that's pretty much expected anywhere in this part of La Jolla. I ordered a latte, and I was happy to see it served in a proper "for here" cup. The coffee was great, and I always appreciate cafés that make the effort to use real cups instead of disposable ones.The only downside was that service was a little slow, but they were also fairly busy, so it was understandable. This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host for breakfast. You can tell it's a pretty popular place because there were a lot of people coming in and out as well as sitting outside drinking coffee or eating a pastry. I was excited for the coffee. I'm a coffee lover. I ordered a latte and a breakfast wrap. The cashier had a bit of a hard time understanding my order. I asked for 2 shots of espresso in my latte. She thought I said caramel latte. Once I restated my ordered she put it as 2 lattes orders. They ended up refunding me for one. The latte however was absolutely delicious. The breakfast wrap was not great at all. The menu mentions scrambled eggs, but it was made with powdered eggs. The texture of the eggs was not good and there was no flavor to the wrap. The menu also mentions avocado is on the wrap, but it was just lots of guacamole. I did not enjoy the wrap at all. I would come back just for the coffee. read more

One of my go to places for a relaxing coffee and breakfast sandwich. My fav is the sunrise sandwich which has eggs, cheddar cheese, and sliced tomatoes on a flaky croissant for only $7. Brick & Bell is a small but mighty establishment that's been a neighborhood favorite for a while. The service is good, but there is a bit of turnover as most of the staff appears to be college students. However, most are very pleasant and efficient. Such a cozy cafe! Really easy to walk to from any store downtown in La Jolla. Great place and prices for breakfast and lunch and for coffee/tea. During my most recent visit, I came for some quick coffee to-go. We barely had to wait in line to order and within 3 minutes of ordering, our lattes were ready. Super fast and quality service! I loved my iced mocha and my husband enjoyed his iced latte. In the future, he would probably add a flavored syrup, but the coffee itself was still good. My iced mocha was perfectly balanced. I've driven by this place at least a dozen times and really wanted to stop by and finally got the chance today! Parking is a little tricky in La Jolla but a weekday is at least more feasible than a weekend. I arrived around 10:30 a.m. after a hike and the coffee shop was packed! Although I was able to order very quickly and get my food and coffee out fairly quickly! The service is so nice, friendly, warm and gives a really welcoming mom and pop family feel. I've ordered different breakfast, pastries, and coffee there, and my go-to now is latte with almond milk. It's always busy place in weekends, but the line moves fast and staff are friendly. We stumbled upon Brick & Bell while strolling in La Jolla looking for some caffeine. The store itself is cute, but tiny on the inside. The line was a few people deep when we arrived, but the staff is very efficient and were able to not only take our order but also get our drinks out to us in a reasonable manner. The vanilla chai is absolutely heavenly and I'm already counting down the days until I'm able to make it back out to have another! The display case was full of pastries that looked delicious and are definitely on my "must try" list. We went on a Sunday morning and it was super busy in there, which speaks well for them but it such a crammed space in front of the register. I order a Sunrise Sandwich, they used a bagel, I had a choice of everything bagel, sesame or regular. I choose sesame as my bagel choice. It had eggs and cheddar cheese I also added turkey sausage for an additional 0.50 cent, I wasn't disappointed. The sandwich was delicious. I love the vibe of this shop and the food. Second time I stopped by here. First time, everything was great. This time, I ordered the same meal. Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat & a Plain Bagel w/ cream cheese. I want to preface with saying, I understand it was busy. But quality should still remain the same under busy conditions. My latte was overfilled and spilled once I went to the other counter to grab a straw. When I took off the lid the espresso spilled out and I tried to mix the remaining coffee. Long story short, the coffee tasted quite nasty. Once I got to eating my bagel, the cream cheese was slapped on and spilling out the sides. Great food. Friendly and smiling staff. Prices are extremely reasonable. Full turkey avocado sandwich for under $12!! Nowadays that's $16-$17 at most cafes. A martinelli apple juice for under $2. Love it. Oh, and unlike most hip modern coffee shops, this place still serve coffees in different sizes (s, m, l) so if you're looking for a bucket of coffee, this is your place. This is a very cute little cafe tucked in a quaint and very walkable area of La Jolla shores. There is some seating inside, some tables out front on the sidewalk and even a few hidden shaded tables out in the alleyway behind the building. Tried a large iced vanilla latte, overall it was OK. Their vanilla syrup is VERY sugary, which is not how I prefer my iced lattes. I could only drink about half before I had to give up on it because the sugar was too overpowering. Pricing was decent for a drink of that size though, just quality was kind of lacking. However, I also picked up a bag of their homemade Palmier cookies and they are amazing! Not too sweet, crunchy, light and very delicious. I would certainly go back if I was in town again just to pick up another bag of those cookies. read more

I checked out Brick and Bell Cafe in La Jolla and I absolutely loved it. The servers were so kind and friendly. The actual place was so charming. I loved the outside with the brick and the cute wooden signs. They had tables outside that were filled with happy people. Inside it was chock full of things to eat and drink. I was in love with the display case filled with so many delicious desserts. I pretty much wanted everything but settled for a mini chocolate chip scone and an Oat Milk Latte. They both were amazing. I ran into a friend there which really made me feel like a local! Anyway, I guess I am! She told me that their berry scones were to die for. I will have to try that next time. I try not to go to the same place twice because it gets pricey and I want to try new places but I cannot say no to the opportunity for a delicious scone. I love scones!
