The food here is really great and I loved sitting outside on the patio. For Mediterranean, it's a little expensive which is unfortunate because it is really great but $78 for lunch is kinda crazy even in La Jolla. That was just for 2 plates and no drinks or appetizers. I might come back for a special occasion.

Incredible mediterranean food! The variety of dips and the flavorful / juicy meats makes this place a stand out in San Diego. Everything is incredibly fresh and not to mention fantastic presentation. For the price I was also surprised by the portions - extremely generous. We fed 5 people for $120 (not including drinks) and we had leftovers. Really nice spot to come for family style and it's walking distance to the water for a nice stroll after a big meal! I will absolutely be coming back.

Okay, amazing highs and amazing lows. First the good: The food is exceptional. Clearly made with passion by experienced cooks. The menu is great, there's something for everyone and the each dish we had was fantastic. Not a single complaint. The service? Also excellent. Attentive, friendly, helpful. The prices? Surprisingly reasonable considering you're in the middle of a tourist hot spot and on the Main Street! Would I eat here again? Absolutely! Now the one negative...and it makes you second guess a few things: The restroom was absolutely disgusting!! Like walk in, turn around and walk out!! Used tissue, urine and even feces all over the place! I don't understand it. The restaurant is perfectly clean but the bathroom was an absolute nightmare.

We were waking around La Jolla San meeded a nivel and a sip. We stopped in ambas the Blair made hummus..... so good. The pita bread was fresh out of the oven and yummy. Will have to go back to try the menu.

Vibes are great, food is even better. I shared the family platter with my friends and we died laughing cause of the amount of food we got. Will definitely be back. Service could have been a bit better, but the World Cup was on so that's understandable haha.

I dropped by a little over a month ago after the La Jolla Art & Wine festival with some friends and this was a cute little gem of a place to grab a bite with my girlfriends. The interior is super cute & aesthetic and is set up like a cafe, so probably best for smaller parties. We ordered the Zoya trio to share and I got the chicken shawarma bowl for my entree. Out of the trio (hummus, muhammara, baba ghanoush), my favorite was surprisingly the muhammara and I'm usually not a fan of red pepper in general. Very tasty and great flavor! I just wish there was more pita, as we had a ton of the dip remaining. The chicken bowl was tasty and the chicken was seasoned well, but overall a bit dry. It came with a dollop of dip, but this time there wasn't enough of it. Thankfully I was able to use the dips from the trio! The salad was fresh, but too lightly dressed and super plain. I thought there would be tomatoes or feta (which would have added some much needed moisture) at least but it was just spring mix seemingly tossed with lemon juice and a bit of olive oil. I hate to give this place 3 stars as it has a lot of potential, but another aspect that was missing for me was the service. Don't get me wrong, all the servers were super nice and friendly, but they totally forgot my entree so I was sitting there for almost 10 minutes while my friends got theirs. After I was finally able to flag someone down, I saw them trying to figure it out on the side, realize that they forgot/delivered my dish to someone else, and then rush remake it. Then after it got dropped off at the table, they didn't even acknowledge that they made a mistake and pretended that it was just a minor delay. And in general, the service overall was on the slow side. I know they're new so they still have some kinks to work out. I would be willing to give them another try in a few months after they're more settled and if I was in the area. I do love that they're dog friendly!

So much yes to this spot! The food is fire! We got the Zoya Trio. It was perfect! Such a great addition. We also got the chicken kebab platter. The chicken was literally cooked to perfection. The taziki was also amazing! The salad was also great. Next time I'm in La Jolla, I'll head back to Zoya and have a feast! Our server was also really kind and efficient. Overall, it's a GREAT dinner spot.

Unique mediterranean place with pizza! I've never tried dates on a pizza before and it was definitely interesting. If you love dates, I definitely recommend the "Take Me On A Date" pizza. Make sure to add chicken for extra flavor. It is definitely on the sweeter side but the chicken adds in the perfect contrast. If you're not feeling pizza, try the Small Family Platter to experience a little bit of everything! The service was amazing! Everyone was so attentive and would check in on us every so often asking about the food as well :) This is a perfect place for family and friends

Had an overall great experience at Zoya. Service was warm, the food was well rounded, and I think there's even more room for potential. They've only been open a few months, and I can see this place getting very busy very fast on the weekends. There is outdoor seating if you have pups, and the indoor is very spacious for larger groups. The falafel sandwich was really good, not soggy and crunchy with a great sauce. The dips were incredible. Get the trio, and try them all. The fish is bone in, so it was require a bit of de-boning but it is worth it. We will be back, and so happy to have this restaurant in downtown La Jolla.

Zoya opened over a month ago taking the space of the former Ahi tuna restaurant in La Jolla. Parking is always a challenge in this area. The restaurant has a full bar, ample seating inside and outdoors. Interior decor was lively with the typical faux greens and flowers cascading from the ceiling. Contemporary background music played. From the menu selections, the food seems to be Mediterranean with various hummus, grilled meats, sandwiches, salads and pizza. I ordered the hummus trio, side of falafel, beef skewer sandwich and a mocktail. Sadly, my phone desperately needed charging and didn't take food pics, apologies. The falafel balls tasted too dry and were smaller than expected, not like the ones posted that were larger and didn't have the greenish hue inside. I've eaten lots of falafels and so I was disappointed with this version. The beef skewer from the sandwich was for my pup, who enjoyed it. The mocktail was too sweet and sugary, couldn't drink it. The hummus trio was fresh, wish the baba ganoush had more of a smokey taste but nonetheless all these dips were delish. The only waiter was cordial, courteous, very nice and made our dining experience better than expected, excellent service.

The ravioli was the standout of the night, thin pasta with just enough filling for a delightful bite. The bucatini all'amatriciana wasn't quite what I'm accustomed to, the guanciale was ground rather than diced, and the sauce leaned more toward a meat sauce with an oily finish, not really my style, though the pasta itself was cooked well al dente. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive throughout. For dessert, the trio was a nice way to sample a few things, though I wish they offered smaller sampler portions instead of full-size pieces. The Basque cheesecake was excellent and the semifreddo was perfect with a nice crust. The chocolate torte was good but couldn't compete with the other two. We called an hour ahead to reserve a table and luckily they had availability. We ordered the crudo and octopus as appetizers. The crudo was served with fresh tuna topped with a sweet melon sauce (not to my liking, but still appreciated). The octopus was delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pistachio pesto pizza, raviolli, and beef ziti. The pizza was my favorite (i love anything pistachio) especially enjoyed the pistachio pesto. I appreciate the thin dough of raviolli and the ziti was good. Overall food was good. Our server's name was Kevin, he was friendly and gave great service.

The place was lively, but luck was on our side: one perfect booth remained for the four of us sweet seekers. We settled in and immediately starting gabbing (versus checking out the menu). George came over to take our order. Without even glancing at the dessert menu (a bold move, I'll admit), I asked for one of each dessert to share--paired, of course, with a couple glasses of Scarpetta Rosé bubbles (okay so I glanced at te wine menu). Priorities . What arrived was equal parts surprise and delight. First, a charming little glass jar filled with lightly whipped crème fraîche and topped with salted caramel--simple, elegant, and absolutely delicious. And then... the "hamburger." Cue the table going completely silent. Naturally, we had questions. Our server walked us through this masterpiece from the bottom up: a golden caramel cake "bun," topped with a chocolate-coated ice cream "patty," a delicate mango gelée "cheese," and even "pickles" made from matcha cake. Finished with a second warm cake layer and a touch of garnish we were too excited to fully catch--because at that point, we were already diving in. The contrast of warm cake, cool ice cream, and rich chocolate was nothing short of fantastic. Playful, unexpected, and genuinely delicious--exactly the kind of dessert experience you hope to stumble upon. Thank you, The Whaling Bar, for the sweet surprises. We'll absolutely be back--next time for martinis, and I've already been told the duck meatballs are not to be missed.

The butter melted alongside the bread and the chicken skin gave it a crispy texture. I also highly recommend the bluefin tuna tartare, very refreshing and delicious, can't go wrong with that. For entree, we had the Denver steak and rose snapper along with sides including green beans and caulilini. The snapper was very fresh and the Denver steak has a wagyu texture to it, probably because it was sous vide. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse, which was served at table side. The first man who greeted us had amazing energy, we were then handed off to our server and she was made aware of us celebrating my birthday. Our waters were never left empty, however that was not due to the server, they do have two people going around ensuring water is refilled at all times. We began with the baguette and chicken skin butter. We loved the warm baguette, so hard to go wrong with warm bread. The chicken skin butter was good nothing amazing, very forward chicken flavor slightly salty but just had to use smaller amounts on the bread. We then ordered our apps which was the onion tart and tuna tare tare. Both came out fairly quickly. The tuna tare tare was wonderful. It had different flavors that paired really well together, We both agreed it was our favorite dish of the night. The onion tart was good as well however it was just very rich and needed to be cut. I wish we had saved our bread to eat it with because it was just so strong on its own. But we were able to finish it. So overall, pretty impressed at this point. Until the mains came out. We got the steak frites and the gnocchi. We began with the steak frites and we tried the sauce and immediately thought it was overly salty. We ordered our steak medium and thought the temperature was on point it was pretty tender but again the sauce was just pretty salty and it was drenched in it so couldn't really enjoy the steak too much, the fries helped a bit with the saltiness. We then tried the gnocchi and I'll preface by saying we both really enjoy gnocchi, however when we tried it we both just gave each other a look. For 35$ we were just really not big fans. The portion looked very little as well so we didn't want to eat too much of it and we even debated to just put up with it and just finish it. We agreed to tell the server though and just eat the steak frites in the meantime before ordering a different main we wanted to try. Well, we finish the entire plate of steak frites and maybe 15-20 mins go by before she checks in on us to ask how it's going. So we inform her we were not fans of the dish and she asks if we want to switch it out and apologizes that she didn't come sooner so we'll give her that, but at that point we ate the whole steak plate and weren't too hungry so she offered us dessert. Now I saw many reviews that people get complimentary mousse for birthdays as expected of most upscale restaurants to offer a little free dessert with a candle for your birthday. I figured it was a great opportunity to make up for the mains not being good and we order the cheesecake. I fully didn't mind to pay for it either, so while waiting our server brought us the check informed us no rush. The gnocchi was removed of course and we were charged the cheesecake which again we didn't mind because we already felt bad sending back the gnocchi. We pay the bill she tells us have a great night and we continue to wait for the dessert. The dessert comes out again maybe 10-15 minutes later, but no candle, so was a little disappointed. Your birthday is just once a year and I feel like you want to be a little picky with where you decide to pick it because it's a special day. So watching other tables get a little candle with their desserts was a little disappointing and our server again was never seen again after handing off the bill. I am pretty emotional so I did tear up a bit because again it was my 30th birthday and I was just sad it didn't go great. Don't mind if the food wasn't that good but I was really hoping the service would be way better. Overall, was not impressed by this place. Weve been to animae and had really amazing food there and thought we would experience the same here. But nope, we drove 30 mins away to la jolla for super mid food and mediocre service. Definitely agree that we just wouldn't come back here again, just not worth the price and service didn't make up for it. I was being generous giving two stars because again the tare tare and bread were both good but again we've had way better in general.
