crispy cauliflower

WOW! I'm not one to search out bruschetta, but when our friend recommended this place we were like why not? We were told to get the build your own bruschetta board and there were so many options. We ended up ordering almost all of them on two boards and my favorites were the... - Prosciutto, fig, and mascarpone - Brie, apple, and fig - Chef's choice (street corn) Ultimately everything was amazing. Special shoutout to the crispy cauliflower as well, cooked so well & whatever sauce they used - AMAZING!

There's a reason why i keep coming here. The customer service is amazing. I came for Mother's Day lunch. We didn't have a reservation but the hostess offered a booth to us right away. It's a bit crowded for 5 ppl but i wasn't going to wait for 45 min. Our waitress came and noticed that it's too small for us. She spoke to the manager and made arrangements to move reservations around so they could move us to a bigger table. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. When we were done, there's an issue with our gift card. The manager took care of us and resolved the issue efficiently and professionally. It made a huge difference in our dining experience. Thank you.

My palate is not refined enough to differentiate between the different terroirs, different countries etc but I always enjoy the wines here. I like that they're not snobbish about it and would be able to help me pick up a wine when I'm not sure and answer my questions non-judgmentally. I love the openness of this place. You can sit by the bar or sit in one of the booths and be able to people watch as you sip your wine. And you can also get apps if you like some food!

I had a very positive experience here for lunch today!! We got sat promptly on the patio which was lovely. Quick and friendly service. I ordered the bruschetta board with 2 burrata/bacon & 2 fresh tomato. I loved the flavors and freshness of it all. I also got the prickly pear lemonade which was pretty tart at first but got sweeter once I mixed the syrup throughout. I would recommend this place! Parking is free.

Postino Del Mar, located in One Paseo right off el Camino Real, is my new favorite spot. The food is always delicious, and the staff goes above and beyond! Rachel, our server, took really good care of us. She gave great wine and food recommendations. We were lucky enough to have come during happy hour! $7 glasses of wine and $7 pitchers of craft beer. Cheers! I ordered the pub board. It came with soft pretzel bites, Italian sausage, Spanish pork links, fondue, packo pickles, and cornichons! DELICIOUS! My friends ordered the salmon board and the west coaster. Also very delicious. Thanks, Rachel and Postino crew, for always taking good care of us.

We came here after doing a weekend morning class at Pigment and the food & drinks hit the spot! We walked right in, no wait- around noon in a Saturday. The patio was perfect shielded by the wall so we had perfect shade. We had to get the donut balls but remember they do take 10 minutes so give your server a heads up when you want them. I tried to be healthy first off since knowing I would devour the donut balls, so I had one of the salads. My friend got the meatballs and loved them! She got a watermelon cocktail and loved it too. This place is dog friendly too and only on the patio.

We love Postino so much that we make sure to stop by every time we are in Del Mar! If you're looking for the BEST wine and beer happy hour in town, look no further. The food is delicious and they have so many gluten free options which is always appreciated. Make sure to get a bruschetta board, it's what they are known for and it never disappoints (including gf option). The staff is always friendly and attentive everytime we go but Suzie is our absolute favorite! Wherever you decided to sit, you'll enjoy your stay. They have a stylish and trendy indoor seating section and a beautiful patio with umbrellas for shade if you want to enjoy the perfect Southern California weather.

I did make my way back for a glass of wine and a bruschetta board! The boards are so fun, so many yummy options, and it's fun to mix n match, with whatever you are craving! There are good sweet, savory and spicy options to chose for. What a fun happy hour spot! Patio was lively, and our server was very attentive to us! Would recommend

We came here to celebrate my friend's bday and we had the best service from Carly. She was so professional and friendly. The way she took charge and how she checked in on us made me think that she was the manager but found out later that she was a server. It's refreshing to experience excellent customer service these days as I feel many places are lacking in that area. The food as usual was delicious. Postino is really known for its boards so we ordered my favorites-mushroom, prosciutto and fig, bacon tomatoes and burrata, and the smoked salmon. We also ordered the shrimp scampi and brussel sprouts salad. I have to say that although the salad was good it didn't seem like it had that much brussel sprouts in it. For dessert we ordered the donut holes which was very good. They're made with ricotta so it's more dense but yummy especially dipped in the 3 sauces -chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Lastly Postino has a great selection of wines but I tried their newer cocktail this time . It was the peach whiskey sour... loved it! When it was time to pay the bill, Carly told us that since we were such a great group of ladies, she comp'd our board and the bday girl's dessert. Wow! Nothing's really free anymore. I also met JD who was the manager that approved these comps. He was also fabulous. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I decided to do a very last-minute dinner date arriving over to One Paseo Shopping area around 8:40pm. We were warmly greeted by the hostess who welcomed us without reservations she said we were able to sit inside or outside and wherever we would like in the restaurant. We chose inside, our server was incredibly kind and offered a wide array of suggestions from the menu since this was our first time here. She mentioned they were known for their bruschetta plate. I decided to order it, and I let the server pick the four different toppings of bruschetta (I also went with the gluten-free bread option). One was a smoked salmon, the other pear with fig/brie, next bacon with bruschetta tomato/arugula, and lastly, sweet and pepper jam with goat cheese. They were all delicious & good on the gluten free bread. I also got a small chopped side salad. My husband had the Italian beef dip (he loved it!). && for dessert we had the hot donut dots with dipping sauce!! I highly recommend it!! We had excellent service & the food was good. We would definitely come back again with a group of friends. The location is great & ambiance is nice inside good for date night or just out with friends.

Wow, love the vibe here and it always exceeds my expectations when it comes to the food quality, flavors and service. The perfect dinner spot.

This place is literally such a delight! The service was splendid and the sweetheart who helped my group and I out was such an angel she was so informative about the menu and recommended so many wonderful items, they have a deal with wine and a board of a set price and it is perfect for a little dat might or girls night if you want to drink and chat, such a perfect spot to get to know people and also catch up with friends. The ambiance is so intimate and the inside is quite classy but there isn't a dress code it's casual which is so nice. The boards and the different choices are delicious so much to choose from and such great variety , now the wines are absolutely delicious, I am a moscato person and the server was so informed about her wines it was so great having someone explain the different notes! Overall a 10/10 experience I would highly recommend to couples and girlie nights!

First time at Postino and I enjoyed the ambiance, service, food and beverage. The server was helpful as we navigated through the menu. We started with the Bruschetta where we chose 4 items to build our board. This was yummy and we split the Italian Beef Dip Panini with a Side Salad. We appreciated that our server split our plate including the dip. I opted for Aperol Spritz to start and ended with a coffee. We had the Hot Donut Dots for dessert. I would definitely return.

The space felt inviting overall, although seating choice does matter depending on the time of day. We ordered the HH $10 Sicilian meatballs, the $12 cacio e pepe arancini, and the $10 chicken pesto garlic knot sliders. My personal standouts were definitely the arancini and the meatballs. Both had great flavor and texture, and I would happily reorder them again. Service was decent, especially considering we were sitting at the bar. One small note is that I would recommend sitting facing the back if possible, as the sun came in pretty directly and made it a bit bright and uncomfortable at times. I'm a beverage geek at heart. Some of my best food and food/travel moments have been when there is…read morea huge educational component to a tasting. However it wasn't until 2020 that I fully embraced my passion in wine - while I have wine tasted in a few places around the world, Paso Robles in particular stressed the importance of education in the wine tasting experience. Many of the tasting room staff and sommeliers have at least a wine certification (usually WSET or CMS) and proudly boast it. So I figured if I'm going to spend quite a bit of time and money on wine, I might as well be an educated consumer in the process. Since I don't work in the industry (I'm actually in healthcare) and I don't want to work in the restaurant biz as a sommelier the Court of Master Sommeliers cert route was a no-go. Plus the CMS route emphasizes self-study and I prefer classroom learning. For a hobbyist who may in the future want to dabble in the industry on the side, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust was the way to go. Being based in SD Wine Smarties with Lindsay was the most practical choice. She offers three levels of the WSET plus the diploma - first level being just a 1-day class followed by the test followed by the 2 and 3 being 4 and 8 1x/weekly classes, respectively, with an in-person as well as an online option. She offers her classes in San Diego as well as Temecula. Having dabbled in wine and tasted wine in parts of CA/Mexico/parts of Europe for at least 5 years my knowledge alone was enough to skip L1 plus for the cost of the class (~$300) I would rather spend on wine club allocations. So I decided to start at L2. If you are not sponsored by your employer the cost is around ~$700 for L2 and ~$1300 for L3 and if you are taking the online portion you'll also have to purchase your wines separately. While you could also skip L2 and go straight to L3 in theory many people have advised to at least take L2 to get used to the WSET testing style and to also get used to the "systematic approach to tasting", which is essential if you want to pass the L3 tasting portion of the exam (L2 is only a 50-question multiple choice exam). Plus Lindsay does have a discount for L3 students who have taken her previously for L2. Lindsay was an awesome instructor who has such passion for wine and has a lot of experience gaining that knowledge from all over the world. She does have a propensity to go slightly off topic to talk about her travels but as a fellow traveler myself I actually enjoyed those anecdotes. But in the end I highly recommend to study off the WSET course material - after all it is the WSET that tests you at the end of the day. Even while handling a full time job and other activities I studied on an average a few hours a week. There was a miscommunication at the end regarding my exam date that I had specifically mentioned a month before in an email starting the class. While the original date wasn't honored she did work with me to schedule an alternate date to take the exam. Turns out that I did pretty well - got a 94% on the L2, which qualifies as a "Pass with Distinction". The best part about taking Lindsay's WSET classes? Getting introduced to wines that I have never heard of or tasted before. I thought I knew a little more about wine than the average consumer but this was before I had ever known about a carménère or tasted a meursault. Because of this class I consider those wines some of my most favorite wines along with the usual Paso or Valle suspects. For this specifically I am super grateful. Looking forward to taking the L3 with Lindsay in 2022 and will update this review as such to detail the L3 experience.

I've studied with Lindsay and taken many of her classes over the last year or two, including WSET 2…read moreand 3. No matter where you are on your journey to learn about wine, Lindsay always makes you feel great about your level of understanding. Lindsay is so encouraging, and her classes are so enjoyable, that you almost don't realize that you've also learned a ton! She has the highest level of certification available (Master of Wine), and within that certification, received the Bollinger Medal, which is awarded to one person each year for excellence in tasting and outstanding achievement! Lindsay is incredibly gifted at understanding wine, and sharing that knowledge. I'm so glad she is in San Diego.
