Have nothing but a good review on this restaurant. The service was great, the ambience was so relaxing and the food was outstanding. The seasoning on the food was perfection. Enjoyed every moment of our time there most likely we'll be visiting again.

An amazing Italian spot at skydeck. As we entered the establishment we were greeted immediately by a friendly server who showed us to our table. The gentlemen explained the menu and his recommendations. We asked a few questions and he definitely answered them willingly and was really patient. We got the Hannibal Lecter which came with a variety of different meats. Wow the bread was so soft! Literally one of the best pizzas I've had. We also got the carbonara! Hubby didn't think he would like it but loved it so much! Can't wait to try other locations closer to us. I know they have a couple here in San Diego! You go to try this place. Food, service and ambiance are on point.

Mistaken margherita

Wow. The pizza here was pretty good. Nice light crispy crust. The mistaken margherita was light and flavorful. The canneloni was also very good. The marinara sauce perfect. We also got the Pate e speck (the roasted potato one) and this one was much more hearty. Rhe prosciutto would have been better if it was slightly more crispy but it was flavorful and delicious. The potatoes and truffle was amazing. Definetly would go back Service was great also.

Eating the Mistaken margherita pizza almost transported me back to Italy. We stumbled upon a pizzeria in Naples where the locals eat. This particular pizza at Ameogio is very similar to the one in Naples where it's not overloaded with cheese; the crust is thin yet crispy, then bubbly at the edges. This is not for sharing - It's so light that I need to order 2 of these for myself. The potato and speck pizza is quite the opposite of the mistaken margherita. It's good but heavy. Eating this brought me back to reality that I'm in the US. The cannelloni was good even though it is vegetarian. Again not very American style that is overloaded with cheese and sauce. I personally would like more sauce added.

Glad to see that they have an eggplant parmigiana pizza right now. It's not super heavy, but it is more filling and a better value than the margarita pizza. I hope they keep it around as it's tasty!

This place is located inside Skydeck. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner. It wasn't busy at all so we got seated right away. We ordered Wagyu meatballs, pasta of the month special (risotto with seafood) and burrata and prosciutto pizza. The meatballs were weird. I've never had meatballs taste like bread. I couldn't taste the actual meat. The risotto dish had good flavor but it's a bit salty for my taste. The thin crust pizza was decent, too much cheese IMO. The cheese made pizza taste a bit soggy. Overall, the food was ok.

Margherita Pizza ($19) - This spot is rated the Best Pizza in San Diego! While I didn't agree, they did a great job at recreating authentic Italian pizzas. It didn't come close to the pizza we had in Italy, but I still enjoyed it. The highlight was the San Marzano tomato sauce, which had a distinct and fresh flavor that paired well with mozzarella and basil.

This is a yummy spot from some Italian food, I just don't think it is quite worth the price point. The food itself was good, but nobody in my group was overly excited for what they got. The place itself felt a bit run down, there was peeling paint on the wall. Service was good. We did make a reservation a head of time, however there was no wait in a Friday night. There are other places I prefer in the sky deck, but I still did have a fun time!

Located in Sky Deck in Del Mar, Ambrogio15 Del Mar is a cute eatery that provides a wide array of pizzas and other types of Italian food. With a friendly staff and amazing atmosphere, you are definitly going to enjoy this establishment. I went in as a walk-in group of 4, and we did not have to wait for a table. The staff was able to rearrange some things and we wwere sat immediatly. Our waiter recommended that for a group of 4, we should get at least 2-3 pizzas and an appatizer. However, 2 pizzas for a group of four was good enough for us. We ordered the Salsiccia, Asiago e Porcini Pizza ($23.50) and the Hannibal Lecter Pizza ($24). The Salsiccia, Asiago e Porcini Pizza was a lovely combination of sauce, sausage, cheese, and mushrooms. However, my one draw back on this was that the mushroom falvor was overpowering. As somebody who likes mushrooms, it felt like this pizza was doused in mushroom water, almost overpowering the other flavors on the pizza. The Hannibal Lecter Pizza was my favorite out of the two that we ordered. There was a great combination of flavors on this pizza and nothing was overpowering. Ambrogio15 Del Mar is a nice place to go if you're looking to share some food with people. With large portion sizes, everyone is easily well fed. My only drawback with this place is that I do not believe the prices accurately refelct the food. I felt the prices to be a little high for a pizza that had nothing too specail about it. Overall, Ambrogio 15 Del Mar is worth the try!

Lasagne and Focaccia Classica
Bernadette B.

What a fabulous find! Started off with calamari and it was cooked to perfection. Then, we had the delicious lasagna and the sauce, bechemel and noodles were perfection. The homemade focaccia is ridiculous. I could have eaten the whole thing. Crispy and fluffy with the perfect amount of salt. To top it off, the server Phelipe was courteous, prompt and friendly. We will definitely come back.

We feasted on fried calamari, brussel sprouts, pizza w/ meat, flatbread w/ hot honey, chicken fettuccini, steak, salmon, tiramisu and chocolate cake a la mode (not all items pictured). There was way too much food, the price was a bargain, and it was better quality vs Maggianos or Buca Di Beppo. Regarding the service, it was on point. We had a dedicated team that kept the food & drink coming all night long. The team was super friendly and attentive. They made us feel like we were at home. I would definitely return to DE for a big family gathering, or a small intimate get together. There are plenty of tables of 2 & 4 inside, and the food & service are excellent.

The ambiance at the bar was relaxed, with a warm, social energy that made it feel like a great after work spot. It had a casual but polished vibe, and you could tell it is a popular time for people to unwind and catch up over drinks and small plates. The space felt inviting overall, although seating choice does matter depending on the time of day. We ordered the HH $10 Sicilian meatballs, the $12 cacio e pepe arancini, and the $10 chicken pesto garlic knot sliders. My personal standouts were definitely the arancini and the meatballs. Both had great flavor and texture, and I would happily reorder them again. Service was decent, especially considering we were sitting at the bar. One small note is that I would recommend sitting facing the back if possible, as the sun came in pretty directly and made it a bit bright and uncomfortable at times. Overall, it was a solid happy hour experience with a nice atmosphere, good value, and a few standout dishes I would come back for.

I Informed my waitress who was very apologetic and informed me she would have her manager come by. The man that came over was so casual - he said, with no greeting: can I get you another meal? I declined because I was not very skeptical of eating here. And expected at least an apology. But he said: are you sure? Well OK. And then walked off. That was it. No recognition of what happened. No offering to comp the meal. The receipt did come with a comped meal but im still in disbelief at the lack of care by the manager. I will not trust this restaurant again. I tried to explain that my mother does not speak English very well, but instead of handling the situation professionally, Hope accused me of being rude, told us to leave, and threatened to call the police. Her behavior made both my mother and me feel very upset, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. She also stood very close to us and made physical contact by touching me, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. No customer should be treated this way. We came to your business hoping to enjoy ourselves and receive good service, but instead we experienced rude, aggressive, and unacceptable treatment from a manager. I'm a beverage geek at heart. Some of my best food and food/travel moments have been when there is…read morea huge educational component to a tasting. However it wasn't until 2020 that I fully embraced my passion in wine - while I have wine tasted in a few places around the world, Paso Robles in particular stressed the importance of education in the wine tasting experience. Many of the tasting room staff and sommeliers have at least a wine certification (usually WSET or CMS) and proudly boast it. So I figured if I'm going to spend quite a bit of time and money on wine, I might as well be an educated consumer in the process. Since I don't work in the industry (I'm actually in healthcare) and I don't want to work in the restaurant biz as a sommelier the Court of Master Sommeliers cert route was a no-go. Plus the CMS route emphasizes self-study and I prefer classroom learning. For a hobbyist who may in the future want to dabble in the industry on the side, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust was the way to go. Being based in SD Wine Smarties with Lindsay was the most practical choice. She offers three levels of the WSET plus the diploma - first level being just a 1-day class followed by the test followed by the 2 and 3 being 4 and 8 1x/weekly classes, respectively, with an in-person as well as an online option. She offers her classes in San Diego as well as Temecula. Having dabbled in wine and tasted wine in parts of CA/Mexico/parts of Europe for at least 5 years my knowledge alone was enough to skip L1 plus for the cost of the class (~$300) I would rather spend on wine club allocations. So I decided to start at L2. If you are not sponsored by your employer the cost is around ~$700 for L2 and ~$1300 for L3 and if you are taking the online portion you'll also have to purchase your wines separately. While you could also skip L2 and go straight to L3 in theory many people have advised to at least take L2 to get used to the WSET testing style and to also get used to the "systematic approach to tasting", which is essential if you want to pass the L3 tasting portion of the exam (L2 is only a 50-question multiple choice exam). Plus Lindsay does have a discount for L3 students who have taken her previously for L2. Lindsay was an awesome instructor who has such passion for wine and has a lot of experience gaining that knowledge from all over the world. She does have a propensity to go slightly off topic to talk about her travels but as a fellow traveler myself I actually enjoyed those anecdotes. But in the end I highly recommend to study off the WSET course material - after all it is the WSET that tests you at the end of the day. Even while handling a full time job and other activities I studied on an average a few hours a week. There was a miscommunication at the end regarding my exam date that I had specifically mentioned a month before in an email starting the class. While the original date wasn't honored she did work with me to schedule an alternate date to take the exam. Turns out that I did pretty well - got a 94% on the L2, which qualifies as a "Pass with Distinction". The best part about taking Lindsay's WSET classes? Getting introduced to wines that I have never heard of or tasted before. I thought I knew a little more about wine than the average consumer but this was before I had ever known about a carménère or tasted a meursault. Because of this class I consider those wines some of my most favorite wines along with the usual Paso or Valle suspects. For this specifically I am super grateful. Looking forward to taking the L3 with Lindsay in 2022 and will update this review as such to detail the L3 experience.

No matter where you are on your journey to learn about wine, Lindsay always makes you feel great about your level of understanding. Lindsay is incredibly gifted at understanding wine, and sharing that knowledge. I'm so glad she is in San Diego.
