As I've been told it's a staff favorite among the rotating flavors for speciality of the day. At first it tasted like a normal pepperoni pizza but then the garlic flavor really shines thru. The crust was "New York" style, thin and crispy... for me it had brittle edges! I find that thin crust pizza are just more fun to eat when on the go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND There are very few tables inside and out, however sometimes wiping your own table down may happen as people frequently so quickly that when one leaves another sits not leaving room for cleanup. I really wanted to like this pizza after all the reviews I read, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The crust was thin, as promised, but like a cracker by the time I got it. Cheese? It was there but there was no string. The flavor is good, but it was like eating a flatbread that had some smidgens of cheese and sauce in it. I will say the salad dressing with the basil flavor is the bomb, but it doesn't make up for my disappointment in the 'za. read more

This laid back spot offersis very solid New York-style thin crust pizza. I'm not a huge fan of the style but they do it very well here. The shop is small but makes good use of its space. There is seating inside and a very nice patio outside. You can get whole pies or pizza by the slice. Don't overlook the "specials." The special pizza by the slice during my visit had pepperoni, garlic, and mushrooms and it was outstanding. This was a home run for garlic-lovers. We also tried a cheese slice, pepperoni slice, and a sausage slice. They were all good but paled in comparison to the special one. All of the slices are good-sized and they are just the tiniest bit greasy (and I'm not complaining--I like a little grease on my pizza). This is not a divey pizza joint. In addition to pizza, they also have salads, pastas, sandwiches, and soft serve ice cream. They also offer far more different pizza creations than just the ones offered by the slice. Their canned beer selection was also outstanding. The prices are Del Mar/mere steps to the beach high but the quality and quantity of the food is also high. I can see this place being great if you need something quick but the slices are pretty small compared to other pizza spots. $4-$5 for a slice depending on what you order. I wanted to try the garlic bread but not for $10. But given it's this part of town, I understand the pricing. There are indoor and outdoor seating, outside has a good view of the ocean. Considering how proximal Del Mar Pizza is to the beach, their food is surprisingly tasty. Oftentimes beach restaurants underdeliver on their quality because they're so close to the water, but Del Mar Pizza does not! Their slices are so tasty and I recently had their chicken marinara sandwich as well which was great. Prices are also very reasonable! Inside is a bit run down but kept clean. For me, the crust is what elevates a good pizza to greatness, and Del Mar Pizza absolutely nails it! It's crispy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside. Excellent small town pizzeria! Walk into Del Mar and you'll be greeted by locals, tourist, and Hawaiian surfer decor. The pizza is thin and crispy with a nice, unexpected crunch. Basic fountain drinks are available. I had a nice quick dinner here on my way from San Diego to LA on a Sunday night. I easily found free street parking on the same street, which was lively due to the nice weather. There is both indoor and outdoor dining. The pizzeria is also dog-friendly; although some dog owners could be better at minding their dogs from blocking paths of travel. I always get annoyed by this because this can be an accessibility issue for people with limited mobility. Service was fine given how busy and popular they were. read more

Such a Del Mar gem! We head to this part of town for soccer tournaments several times a year and pretty much every time, we order some pizzas from DMP to take to nearby Powerhouse Park. It's always delicious. On our recent visit, we ended up going to the park for sunset and then walk to Del Mar Pizza and eating there. We had a group of 14 (7 adults and 7 kids) and we scored a table and the counter style seating outside and it worked out great. Counter service was easy and amongst the group, we enjoyed four pizzas, a couple of orders of wings, a sandwich and a family style salad along with some adult beverages. Everyone enjoyed. Coming from New York, I can say Del Mar Pizza stands up pretty well to what we'd expect back home. Inside, it's a very unassuming spot with seating for around 15 and some additional tables outside. Some great photos in-around SoCal like the walls too. For our plain pizza, we were treated to a thin crust, with a little char in spots, and a chunky, well-seasoned sauce topped with gooey cheese. I'm truly sad to write this because this used to be one of our favorite pizza places--the food and atmosphere were always great. But our experience last night was beyond horrible. Since outdoor tables were full, we sat inside for the first time. Out of nowhere, a HUGE COCKROACH appeared and started crawling around the floor. Four or five staff members behind the counter saw it, yet no one rushed to catch it. After several disturbing minutes, the cockroach climbed up onto the counter where people eat their food. We pointed it out, and finally one of the kitchen staff caught it--with the same towel they use to wipe tables. But here's the SHOCKING PART: the counter where the cockroach had been NEVER cleaned or sanitized. Not a spray, not a wipe--nothing. The thought of people sitting down to eat at that same counter right after is sickening. If that's how they handle what customers see, I can't imagine what happens in the kitchen. Totally disgusting. The image is stuck in my head, and sadly, we'll never be coming back. read more
