One of my favorite spots for pizza! We ordered online ahead of time and waited about 30 minutes before picking it up. I didn't realize they had an app until after I paid, but they offer a little discount for signing up. The restaurant was busy but the counter line was quick. The order was ready and included all the utensils, crushed red pepper, and parmesan. The food was still hot when we got home and tasted great. The burrata, sausage and hot honey pizza is my favorite! I'm always a sucker for hot honey but all the flavors blended together perfectly. I always forget they have great deals for slices and variations that are great for lunch! read more

I love Best Pizza & Brew. Moved to Cardiff -by-the-sea over 4 years ago, but lived my summers of 1970-80s in San Diego N. Coastal. Since moving back to Cardiff in 2022 as a 50+ adult, Best P&B had been my local hang. Their Manager Joe Ramsey had befriended me in 2022 as a local. He still remembers my name like Cheers on TV, call my name when I arrive. It's not just Joe, the staff remembers my name too. Over several years, the staff keeps up with what I do and where I am in life. I've noticed it's not just me, they extend the relationship to all repeat customers and recognized locals as if it's a special badge of honor. If you want the neighborhood experience, even if you're not from the neighborhood, they will treat you as such. Did I mention their food is great? Meatball Sandwich is my usual order. Wings for sure when I need the Buffalo Sauce fix (bone in), and Detroit with hot honey is a must. If you're from Detroit, at least verify it's worthy of Detroit style slice by giving it a try. NY style is their usual, by-the-slice and is always a safe bet. Order the whole pie if you're a family. Can't go wrong. But as a Dad of adult children, they like to order their favorites from the by-the-slice to get their favorites. Or, option for another item, salad, fries, sandwich beverage combo. Came into Best Pizza & Brew on a whim and ended up having one of those nights that reminds you why great local spots matter. The pizza was unreal, perfectly cooked crust, generous toppings, and clearly made with care. We tried a couple different pies and every single one hit. Solid beer selection too, which always helps. What really made the night, though, was the service. Joe took care of us and genuinely elevated the entire experience. The service is great; everyone was very friendly. The ambiance was lively and pleasant. Seating is an indoor/outdoor hybrid which I personally enjoyed. We ordered some pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizza slices as well as a Caesar salad. The salad was fresh and perfectly dressed, the pizza was good, but not my personal favorite in this specific area given the taste, size and price. That said, if you're looking for a good casual lunch or dinner place with some variety on the menu, I'd definitely recommend Overall a good experience--looking forward to trying the beer they have on tap next time. OK, first of all it's a local place so you get to find all your neighbors and get to know him. Second, the pizza and food is fantastic very local very fresh and great. We had Sam as our server and he was fantastic and Emery was the back up And right there when we needed him at any point. Not only are they pizza and brew, but they have a really good wine selection which we loved, but the best thing I think they had was the brownie and ice cream, which was remarkable. Love this spot but we left dinner feeling a little disappointed tonight. It's not the end of the world obviously so I don't want to give a bad rating but I do think someone should know. I'm confused as to why slices are both $4.75 for a cheese and meat lover when the meat lover is priced higher than a cheese pizza for the full pizza. Shouldn't the cheese slice be a little less than the meat lover slice in that case? Again not a huge deal but we were more disappointed that the cheese slice that we got was the smallest slice I've ever seen, definitely not worth nearly $5 for that. We asked one of the workers and he didn't seem to care much, I get it but it would have been nice to get some kind of validation on this or something other than a " I dunno". While camping at San Elijo, we decided to celebrate a birthday and order five pizzas. Instead of using the app, we walked over to Best Pizza & Brew, to place an order for later. The ordering process was fine friendly service at the register. The pricing felt a bit high however Cardiff is an expensive area and $30 for a pizza seems to be the going rate. In the restaurant there were plenty of smiling employees whirling about doing work. The playlist was a combination of modern pop and classic rock. The TV was playing the Laker game and and Luka Dončić was beginning his career with the Lakers. (Side note: This will begin a new era for the Lakers.) We came back later to pick up our food, five pizzas and garlic knots. The pizzas came out on time, piping hot and ready for transport. We walked them over to our campsite. The pizzas are thin crust and quite tasty. I concur with their high rating on yelp I would not have done anything differently. We fed about a dozen people and they were happy. I'm a picky pizza person and I found this pizza to be quite good. An interesting sidenote, is that, the leftovers were everybit as good if not better than the day we ordered them. To me this seems to speak to the freshness of the ingredients. I find that fresh ingredients often get better with time as they release their flavors and gooo up a bit. There is a competing pizza shop nearby, of which my nephew speaks highly. I will be having a pizza contest within my own family on my next run to San Elijo. I'll keep you updated. read more

We ordered pizza for a potluck and had it delivered to my workplace. It came in timely matter. Let's just say we found out that Detroit pizza is a thick crust and rectangular and small for the cost of 18 dollars per pizza Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but the cost of two of these cost 45 dollars. The pizza was crutchy and cheese burn edged making it crispy and soft inside. These are definitely more like a personal pizza ora small group of 3 people and not for a group especially a potluck at a workplace. Was able to try the pizza and chicken wings. The BBQ chicken pizza was good but they have some pretty bomb chicken wings. The chicken was meaty and crispy. The people were friendly and there was a lot of seating inside and outside. They have some pretty good deals on slices and their happy hour looked legit. I think they have $2 a slice during that time. I would recommend sticking to slices as the 12in pizza was $20 and we were still hungry afterwards. The slices were a lot smaller. read more

Best Pizza & Brew in Cardiff lives up to its name! The Best White Pizza is my favorite. Perfectly thin, foldable NY-style crust with a light, airy chew. My son loves the meatball sub, which they customize plain just how he likes it. The Best House Salad is always fresh and delicious (great with added chicken), and the Greek salad is solid too. We tried the BBQ chicken pizza last night - it was decent, but I've had better elsewhere; the sauce lacked a bit of flavor. The vinaigrette came in the salad and was not overpowering at all..... a sweet lemony taste that was not too oily. I had a thick crust Detroit pizza (pesto, pepperoni and ricotta) and my husband had the goat cheese & pesto thin crust. The pizza is available in the display case and warmed to serve. It might be a tad drier than a fresh-made pizza but we both really enjoyed the flavor and texture. We went back and ordered garlic knots, 3-per order per person. Really tasty. We chose the ranch dipping sauce but both agreed they were better on their own. Though we aren't beer drinkers, there were many cups ordered around us and people seemed content. I am updating my review where I very sadly gave 1 star. I'm doing four because while it was pretty sucky, I super appreciate their response. After my post someone from Best reached out and apologized for not having fully communicated all the items cooked in beef tallow and she recognized how much that matters. She thanked us for bringing it to her attention and said they will be making updates to menus, online and on paper. In addition, they also are giving us a little incentive to come back again.
