Goop Kitchen is my current obsession. It literally is good, clean, food. And I'm surprised at how reasonably priced it is all things considered. In my opinion, not pictured here, but the good for Two is the best deal in town! It comes with half of a roast chicken or head of cauliflower, one salad, and two sides for $38.95 and we've always had plenty of leftovers for another meal the next day. My favorite sides so far are the Soccata (prefect blend of crispy, savory and salty), and the Smashed Fingerling Potatoes. And the Everyday Kale and Brussels salad has quickly become my all time favorite salad! The sauces are AMAZING and I'm not a sauce person. So far my favorites are the salsa verde and the vegan ranch. So yummy!! The servers are all super friendly. Special shout out to Thiago. I was surprised that they remembered me from visit to visit, especially with the amount of people coming through the doors. Their takeout has been quite efficient. Love the fact that there is complimentary sparkling water. My main suggestion for improvement is to become more flexible about modifications. We wanted a pizza with only half pepperoni as some people in our party don't eat it and they would not accommodate. Also, they would not put the cheese on the side on the Harvest Salad--the option was either cheese or no cheese and again, some people in our party didn't eat cheese, but some did so it would have been nice to have the option to have it on the side. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it was pretty mid. We ordered the miso salmon bento and the herb salmon, and honestly, none of us really liked any of the components. The fish was dry, the miso salmon was tough, there was a huge glob of wasabi, and the salad tasted a little musty. The egg was done right tho! I'm not trying to hate--it might just be because it's a newer place and they're still getting into a rhythm. I heard the gluten-free pizza is better, so maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I'll probably give it another shot and see what other people are ordering. The service, though, was great! We really liked our server, TJ. He tried, and obviously it's not his fault the food was subpar. We also tried the cookie afterward, and...meh. I hate writing bad reviews, and I especially hate spending money on disappointment, so I'm going to see what everyone else is loving here before I give up on it. read more

I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl. It was good but I felt there should be more chicken for the price of the bowl. The salad was fresh but the dressing was bland. It doesn't have the most attractive business name, but this health-conscious, celebrity-founded chain has made its way to the SD market with a recent debut at the One Paseo shopping plaza in Carmel Valley/Del Mar. Goop Kitchen replaced another restaurant chain that served seasonal and responsibly-sourced food. Menu sheets were available for viewing at a hostess station outside of the main entrance. The dining capacity seemed insufficient with several canopied tables on an outside front patio and a small dining area with booths. I bet no more than 50 customers could be seated. A lot of space was dedicated to the takeout ordering counter just inside the main entrance. There was also a waiting area with two tables and a set of seats to the side. Beyond that was a foyer with screens mounted on a wall that showed the status of the takeout orders. The food offerings were plentiful, much more so than its predecessor. One side of the menu listed the salads, bowls, handhelds, soups, and desserts, The flip slide displayed the mains, sides, pizzas, pastas, a la carte proteins, and beverages. During my visit, the host stated that it would be an hourlong wait for dine-in service. I decided to walk up to the takeout counter and ordered the first bowl which was the Huberman's Organic Turkey Chili. Organic turkey, kidney beans, and a five-chile blend were scooped into a cardboard bowl. The other components were placed inside a plastic container with multiple compartments. Japanese sweet potato, pickled cabbage, lime crema, aged cheddar, pickled jalapeno, and cilantro were the items. The gravy to the chili was flavorful and not spicy which I liked. I was less impressed with the accompanying items. It was like a bento box of random ingredients that were not cohesive. I will be returning within the next month to try some other choices. Pricewise, it was neither cheap nor outrageously expensive, especially for a healthy lifestyle brand. I gave a four star rating for my takeout order at Goop Kitchen. read more

Food is amazing. Staff is extraordinary! Kaylee and Joseph are great. As is the manager. Ricardo. The staff makes you feel welcomed and well cared for. We had the BBQ chicken pizza which is excellent. Full of flavor and heat crust. We also had the summer rolls which were light and delicious. The half chucked is moist and cooked to perfection. Hubby gets it every time. Orzo salad is great. Teriyaki chicken bowl is great. Hubby loves the Italian chopped salad. Really everything is fantastic. You can't go wrong. read more

GOOP there it is!! So I'm not into Gwyneth Paltrow & all her weird health gimmicks. But I don't eat meat and I like to eat healthy when I can. While I was on a business trip in LA last year, I ordered from Goop on DoorDash, and it was surprisingly delicious. So I was excited when I saw they would be opening a location in Carmel Valley. Folks! I am not the only one who was excited. It is buzzing and full of people on the patio. I was planning to do takeout and at first I regretted not ordering in advance as it looked like it might be a long line to order and then get my food. Ahh... but no! Because our friends here at Goop are FULLY STAFFED UP. As I contemplated the line and how I was going to order, a friendly employee standing outside said, "oh, I can take your order for you!" And then on her mobile unit she put in my order and I paid with a card. (thank you, Alyssa! Yes, she had my name but I think she's being nice to everyone even if your name is not also Alyssa) Onto the food. Things can get expensive quickly at a place like this. I've seen in looking at the menu at home that there is a great soup and salad deal. For under $20, you get your choice of four soups and a four salads. I knew I wanted the Japanese sweet potato soup with brussels sprouts that I had last year in LA, and I decided to get the brussels sprout kale salad with avocado and puffed rice and cheese and apple cider vinaigrette. I decided that I would add on a seven minute egg for three dollars for some more protein. Folks, the salad is delicious... And it's huge. The soup portion is also big. I am definitely getting at least two meals out of this $22 goop meal. Also for takeout, they send you updates by text. And when I went to pick up, the staff there was also exceptionally nice. And a very nice young woman employee with short black hair threw in some cookies for me, which was amazing especially considering I thought I might try them but I had forgotten to order them. Overall this was an amazing visit and my food is yummy, healthy, and very reasonable. GOOP!!! (PS: I just had one of the little cookies they threw in and it was so delicious! Seems nutritionally dense for a dessert and very satisfying for something so small. Gwyneth is still weird but my expectations were exceeded here! For soup my top pick the Japanese sweet potato with the crispy Brussels sprouts on top wow fire incredible and #2 the tomato gazpacho for a refreshing taste on soup. The was a line, but it moved quick. They sat us at a sweetheart table, which was a side by side table. It was cute. What we ordered: Lychee Green Tea - nice and light Miso Salmon Bento - so good. Love the vinaigrette on salad. Salmon was cooked perfect. Loved the 2 sauces it came with. Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap - bf said he loved the freshness and croutons in it. Side of green beans - good We really liked the food here. I could eat like this everyday. We'll be back to try other things. read more

Goop Kitchen now has a restaurant in Carmel Valley/Del Mar. Just as you'd expect from Gwyneth Paltrow, it's bright, clean, healthy and delish! Have tried many foods from Goop at the West LA and Beverly Hills locations, I liked BH location more but this place might be a contender. You have the option to order online pickup or dine inside the restaurant as I did. The interior dining space is decorated mostly in white with clean modern touches with banquette seating along the wall and smaller booth/white marble top tables throughout and real green plants/trees...very similar to my color scheme lol Just like the other locations, the staff here were super nice, helpful and accommodating. Have tried the Brentwood Chinese chicken salad, chopped Italian salad, arugula salad. This time I chose the summertime blackened salmon and a tomato gazpacho to refresh during the summer heatwave. Gazpacho was of course chilled and I'm not a big fan of chilled soup, so I did switch to a tumeric bone broth with mushrooms and it was nourishingly light and good. The blackened salmon was plated with quinoa, a small salad and I added avocados to make a super healthy late lunch. The menu also offer handheld Wraps which are customizable as well as à la cart protein, veggies, salads to mix and match. Of all the healthy small restaurants that have popped up recently, Goop is my favorite because most of the items are organically sourced and most of the ingredients are what I like if I had to make it myself, because it has to look and taste good, good for you, such a welcome addition to the community go Goop!! read more

I've been waiting for Goop to open and excited it's finally here! Gluten free, no b.s., all seed-oil free, healthy ingredients- the works! I've browsed the LA location's menu more times than I'd like to admit. So I already had an idea of what I would order which was actually pretty much everything on the menu haha. That was the hardest part was deciding what to order. I went for lunch around noon on a Friday and there was a line but it wasn't bad, went pretty fast. They just opened so tried to be patient with that even though I was starving and ready to go to town on some food. We sat outside which was nice, most all tables have umbrellas. Indoor seating looked nice too, super simple but very chic and pristine. They had some fancy drinks floating around, sparkling waters and things like that but we just stuck to plain water. We ended up ordering the Hot Bianca pizza. Arguably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The crust was thin and crunchy, had the best consistency. It came with shaved broccolini, turkey sausage, fontina, mozzarella, red onions and topped with their secret sauce. We also got this small side plate that came with Maldon salt (the best), red pepper flakes, fresh oregano and shaved parmesan. It really added a whole other level to the pizza. We also got the Goop Father Italian Chopped salad. It was a seasonal Italian lettuce mix, green olives, pepperoncini, mozzarella, shaved parmesan, tomato spiced chickpeas, artichoke salad, nitrate-free salami, marinated tomatoes and came with an Italian vinaigrette. Of course topped with parmesan croutons. It was immaculate if you are a chopped salad gal. They were both huge so we had leftovers for sure which was nice! I definitely can't wait to go back and try allll the things. Everything that came out to the other tables while we were there looked incredible. I will be heading back there soon! read more

Although it was a very busy opening week, the staff were all kind, calm and helpful. The menu is diverse. I immediately knew I wanted the Thai crispy rice crunchy salad with bbq tofu. The food was extremely fresh and flavorful with a variety of herbs, vegetables, rice , noodles and super crispy tofu. My husband and I shared a side of garlic Japanese roasted sweet potatoes and they were delicious! So melt in your mouth. It's indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant was so busy that the staff were helping us with availability for seating. I would definitely come back. Many people were ordering the pizzas. They look so amazing, but they didn't have vegan cheese, so we couldn't try them. I'd love to get a non dairy pizza option one day. The crust is gluten free, as is the whole restaurant. I walked into Goo Kitchen and thought the space was beautiful. Unfortunately, from there everything went downhill. My order wasn't taken correctly, and then my meal was given to the people behind me. What bothered me most wasn't even the mistake -- it was that no one acknowledged it. I was repeatedly brushed off and told my food was "coming out shortly. no explanation of the mistake they made even though I saw it firsthand. About 30 minutes later, with still no food, I finally asked to speak with a manager. The food itself was decent: a few ounces of salmon, a few ounces of salad, brown rice, and a hard-boiled egg for a little over $20. I'm not really complaining about the price, but for comparison, next door (Postino) you can get two good-sized skewers beef or chicken skewers with a yogurt dill sauce and get considerably 3 x more protein. The manager came out and explained that they had only been open a week and were still working things out. I didn't ask for a refund and probably would have declined one, but I was surprised one wasn't even offered. Instead, I was given a $20 card for a future visit, plus a brownie and two cookies. The brownie was okay but a little dry. The cookies were extremely dry and had one chocolate chip in them. On my way out, I saw someone looking at the menu and gave her the $20 coupon because I knew I wasn't coming back. Go to Postinos next door. They also have plants but better food. read more

Been wanting to try this place since the sign got posted that goop kitchen was coming. Place was packed. I am sure there are other great dishes that we haven't ordered, but based on everything that we got we weren't impressed. Chicken salad was just bland. Sweet potatoes weren't the sweet potatoes you would assume (not the orange/red once's). Soup came out barely like warm. Drinks were unsweet so kids didn't drink them. Pizza was ok. Very thin and super oily. Maybe there is a reason that very healthy food doesn't taste as good as food that's bad for you. Also, the seating inside is very claustrophobic with mere inches separating you from the table on the side of you. On a positive note, Service was excellent. That's why they got 4 stars. Otherwise based on food alone it would warrant 3.5 at most. read more

This place is soo poorly arranged. From the minute, you stand in line and waiting for 15 minutes other people are being plucked out of the line in larger groups and sat immediately. I was like, that's strange. I've been waiting 15 minutes and already three different groups who have arrived all after me and the people behind me are being accommodated before myself and those in line before me. I was told this is their system because they have larger tables to fill. Ok - sure. Then I get to the counter and I ordered my food and they asked me if I have a table and I said no with a question mark on my face. She says oh you're supposed to be given a table before you order. And I say well nobody told me that this is my first time here and then they just leave me there for 5 mins, until somebody else comes to me. As I'm seeing of them help other people be beside me. I finally speak up and say excuse me I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here. Then they lecture me about their restaurant style of seating and that I should not have ordered. I explained again that this is my first time here and I don't work here so how do I know the rules? Five more minutes later, I'm sat at their only table available, which is near the bathroom. Lmao. Whatever - not the end of the world. The whole process seemed very confusing and wildly chaotic was no real direction or structure. They should hold the line if they don't have tables available, or get the patrons name and how many people are in their party and wait to be called like a "regular restaurant." read more

I was one of the lucky people that were invited to try the new Goop Kitchen in Carmel Valley at their soft opening. In an email a month prior, I gave them my allergy info (I don't eat seafood), and they pieced together a big meal so I could try out a variety of food. I ended up getting the teriyaki chicken bowl, quarter chicken with a side of Japanese sweet potatoes and a side of regular potatoes, and an arugula salad with lemon dressing on the side. I loved everything and the flavors were wonderful! They offer organic/free-range/air-chilled chicken just as an FYI. It's easy to eat from their menu if you are dairy free or vegetarian because it's marked on the menu. I also tried the yuzu tonic shot and it was really tasty. Their menu is 100% gluten free but it sounds like they are not celiac-safe according to some sources. read more

Two of us were told to go sit at table with only one chair (a neighboring table had poached it). When we confirmed that's where they wanted us to sit (no one walked us over) they said we could both squeeze on the tiny booth side of what was obviously a 2 top. They begrudgingly brought in a chair from outside after we said we weren't comfortable, but it took a long time. Then they forgot to put our order in and finally brought out the appetizer with one entree (at the same time). Even after a couple of gentle reminders asking where my dish was, I did not get it until my husband was finished with his meal. The worst was no apology. I'm disappointed with the food, particularly the flavor, the quality, and cooking skill. We picked up the menu before it opened, got very excited, and went on its 2nd day after the opening. Summer blackened salmon bowl - While the salad itself was fresh, the salmon was dry from overcooking and flavorless. Salmon portion itself was sadly very small. The cherry tomatoes were unrecognizably roasted. Turkey Bolognese - Unfortunately the sauce is just marinara sauce, not meat based as named. The whole dish was just pasta with very low nutritional value. Our daughter who loves pasta will not be ordering it again. Staffs were the only pleasant experience. Unfortunately we will not be returning for food. It's not worth our time. read more

Pizza was horrendous and the drink options left me thirsty. Pepperoni pizza had a hard exterior and a very chewy center. We each had one slice and left the rest of the entire pie. Saw a few other tables with almost whole pizzas left behind as well. The turkey bolognese pasta was decent and pasta was at least cooked al dente. There's a reason they have you pay for your food first before your meal arrives. Only great thing about this place was the decor. Will not be back. read more
