Don't get me wrong, the salads are tasty, but after paying $50 for two salads I don't think I will ever be coming back purely because of the extra charges for everything. I had ordered two salads, one a summer peach and the other an elote one. I totally understand charging extra for double protein which in all honesty was a little hefty too ($8 extra to add extra steak), but I was also charged for adding pickled onions in one of my salads that didn't originally come with it. I had assumed that this place worked similarly to Chipotle where you'd be able to add more miniscule things like whatever vegetables to your order free of charge, but nope. Was charged extra for EVERYTHING including more dressing. They did not do this before, so something definitely changed in their management last summer so I will be taking my business elsewhere

Shit food!

Gone down hill, the picture speaks for itself. Rude service, extremely mid food. Only a good location.

The place was packed, food was fresh, service was quick. It's a little pricey for a salad but the portions are large.

To me, this is the healthiest version of Chipotle/Cava. You can select a premade entree or build your own bowl. If you build your own you start with a base, add a protein (recommend the miso salmon), then add toppings and sauce/dressing. Topping include lots of fresh vegetables, among other things. Pay at the counter and then grab a seat and dig in.

I tried this Sweetgreen on my work break, and I ordered the hot honey chicken plate, which was good! It was pretty filling, and the ingredients were pretty fresh. I liked all the vegetable/grain parts of the dish, but the chicken was kind of dry. The workers are very friendly, and service is quick too. I love the interior of the store as well! It is so open and airy, and during lunchtime there is plenty of sunlight. This is one of the nicest stores to eat inside in this area! Overall the bowls are yummy and freshly made, but it is kind of pricey. I really enjoy this restaurant as a semi-frequent treat.

What was advertised

I just ordered the new sweet green menu item supposed to have 1120 calories and 106g of protein but the bowl I just ordered does not seem to have any of those. You tell Me look at this bowl

I was so excited when Sweetgreen opened a new location in Del Mar Highlands. But this location has been disappointing on several occasions. One evening I placed an order for pickup with an estimated 20 minute time until ready. After arriving and inquiring about my order, it took another 25 minutes to be made while the restaurant was empty. The staff is always friendly and accommodating but it seems to always be short staffed with only one or two people working. The pickup orders also seem to always be half filled compared to the portion size you get when ordering in the store. The Harvest Bowl is my favorite salad and after a few times being out of stock I was finally able to try the new air fried potatoes. The flavor of the garlic aioli and the potato crisps was great but the potatoes were cold and soggy. They'd probably tasted better fresh out of the air fryer than after sitting out waiting to be packaged up. Overall still love Sweetgreen's food but not sure I'd recommend this location and I'm not going to drive out of my way to go to a different one.

we were super excited to try this place for the first time, but sadly we were disappointed. the first person that helped us didn't explain anything at all, and just kind of looked at us waiting to order. my husband chose greens as his base and out of curiosity I asked her what grains they had and she just gestured to the grains instead of telling me anything. she failed to mention that we can only pick a certain amount of toppings and dressings and so after my husband's fourth topping, they told him that it would be an up charge. when it came to the dressings, she had handed his bowl off to someone else that I believe was newer. first he told us you could get three dressings then he said only two and said since we had already done a medium dressing it'd be extra if we got another medium dressing. overall, just very confusing and wasn't explained at all. the actual taste of the salad was okay but definitely not worth $26. the person that rang us up seemed to be the most experienced and was very nice, but still our experience was subpar. after leaving, I went back to look on yelp and see what other people thought and saw that you actually get a complementary bread with your meal if you ask for it, but obviously this being our first time we did not know that. there are plenty of other build your own bowl places with much better customer service and for a better price.

Shroomami
Alyssa S.

First time trying sweet green. The dressing was tasty. And all the items were fresh. However this was a bowl and not a salad, and there was way too much raw kale for the small amount of dressing that they gave. I also would have preferred pickled or cooked beets instead of raw shaved beets, especially with little dressing. I liked the idea of it more than the bowl, where I'm eating mostly raw kale with no dressing at the end. I will try here again, but I would not get this bowl again, and they really should call it a salad given the high kale to other ingredients ratio! (it looks nice on the top but it's just straight Kale underneath). It might have been better with more of this dressing, but I can't tell!

Im obsessed with this place. The first time i tried it was 2 years ago in their carlsbad location. I got the crispy rice bowl. It was SO good. But because it was a little far from me i didnt care to come back. Now they have this location and the one in 4S AND UTC mall. They are everywhere now and i see why. Everything here is local and organic. Ive had a couple hiccups with the greens being wilted and soggy in my salad and the chicken being full of fat but the staff is always so kind and quick to make it up to me. Ever since then its been so fresh and delicious. Its my go-to after a gym sesh and they have so many delicious items. The BBQ chicken salad on their summer menu item is so good i crave it all the time. The dill ranch and BBQ combo is addictive. All of their locations have an aesthetic vibe to them and their bowl containers are so cute. The shroomami bowl or salad (not sure) was too salty for me so my favorites are the bbq chicken salad and crispy rice bowl.

Outstanding!

This review is for the soft opening. Sweet green is a healthy option when you are in the mood for a quick meal. The warm bowls, in particular, are really great. Today I tried the Fish Taco bowl, which came with a generous filet of salmon. Quincy, my server, suggested several add-ins and he was very flexible with the ingredients. Very helpful! I ended up with a very filling lunch. Everything was very fresh and very flavorful. I am definitely a fan of sweetgreen. I will be back!

The building where this eatery can be found was in the middle of the complex and not visible from the roadside. That made it difficult for anyone not working in one of the adjacent offices to find this place. If you were not from on-site like me, then it's best to pull into the below ground parking structure at the 11220 El Camino Real address and then exit on the surface level to follow the sidewalk signs to reach The Kitchen. The operating hours were limited between 10 am to 3 pm on weekdays. I would have thought they would be open early to serve breakfast hours and maybe that is in the future plans. There were large tables outside for al fresco dining while the inside seating was modern and spacious. It resembled what you would find in the lobby of an upscale, boutique hotel. I read the seating capacity was up to 200 diners. Four menu boards hung above one of the service stations where the cashier was situated. Salads, bowls, and sandwiches were the main categories. A make-your-own bowl or wrap bar was also available for custom made creations. From the Chef's Choice Bowls, my selection was the Soba Salmon Noodles. Three small pieces of soy sesame glazed salmon were accompanied by buckwheat soba, cabbage, cucumber, carrot, edamame, and green onion. If you look at the photo of my order, then you will notice the meager serving as the amount of food did not even fill half of the bowl. That was disappointing for a price of $15. The taste of the mix was fine as the soy flavor was prominent. Between the portion size and the challenging location, I limited my rating of The Kitchen at Torrey View to three stars.

I am a CAVA fan & saw this restaurant next door. I decided to give it a shot and am so glad I did…read more I was greeted right away and didn't wait long. The employee was nice. I was so impressed the salad looked just like the pics. I feel like that rarely happens! I usually am picky or hesitant about trying Tina at restaurants but im glad I got it there. Service: [5/5] Staff was really nice, no complaints there. A bright spot in an otherwise mixed…read moreexperience. Price: [2/5] $30 for a sandwich and smoothie is a tough pill to swallow. The sandwich at around $15 is pricey but feels more appropriate for what you're getting. A $12 smoothie isn't unusual in San Diego, but when the taste doesn't back it up, the price becomes a lot harder to justify. Food/Drinks: [3.5/5] Chicken Salad Sandwich -- A 3.8/5 for me. I'm from the South, so I have a pretty solid benchmark for what good chicken salad tastes like. For a healthier take on it, this one actually holds up--the dill was a nice touch and the soft whole wheat bread worked well. That said, I'm judging it on taste alone, not its nutritional value, and it's decent but not exceptional. It also came with vegan bacon bits, which I didn't mind. A solid sandwich, just nothing that wows you. Strawberry Delight Smoothie -- A 3/5. It's clearly a nod to Hailey Bieber's Erewhon smoothie and it looked the part, but the taste was just okay. I swapped the almond milk for 2% due to my nut allergy, which the staff accommodated easily, but even still it didn't wow me. At $12 I was hoping for more. Ambience: [4/5] The interior is on the smaller side but I came on a beautiful day and sat outside, which made for a lovely lunch break. One Paseo is a nice area to be in, so the outdoor experience saves it. Overall Experience: [3.7/5] Jan's is a cute concept and I get the appeal, especially in that setting. But the prices are genuinely hard to justify when you're right next door to Cava, where your money goes a lot further. I'd probably come back for the vibes on a nice day, but I'd be much more selective about what I ordered.

I particularly like the outdoor seating with the wood fencing and the open air style of the restaurant. The food is always on point, and is the first place I think of if I am thinking of grabbing a salad I don't feel like making. This location is no different from any of their other locations. My normal go-to salad is Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada and it has always been consistent in all the locations I've been to, including this location. It is difficult to grab any other salad since I love how filling and tasty this salad was with quinoa. Mendocino Farms is also one of the first places I've ever encountered roasted quinoa and really loved it. (Watch your teeth though!) Service is quick and friendly, both at the cashier and when they bring your food to your table. They ask you if there is anything you needed and even check on you. They're dog friendly, have large grassy areas and corn hole; it's such a vibe. It's all about the outside dining area and that awesome wall of jasmine flowers. It was breezy and the scent traveled making the experience super unique. We were famished and everything on the menu looked next level good. Our waitress Cynthia answered all our annoying questions. I got the lavender lemonade to start and it hit the spot. The lavender was perfect, not too perfumy (not a word apparently but it is today) but enough to say ok, there's lavender in there and I like it. It was refreshing.
