Vegans and vegetarians rejoice as Flower Child blossoms in this busy shopping center serving a plethora of health-conscious dishes balanced in nutritional value, flavor and texture. This packed parking lot seldomly has spots near the storefronts but if you venture further out, you should be able to find some spaces sprinkled throughout the lot. There's a good bit of churn so even if it's full during peak times, you'll eventually find a spot after circling a bit. Flower Child has a pretty big footprint within the mall hosting an upper area with a more cafe feel with smaller tables and stools and a lower area with larger tables and booths. The register is on the top level where you'll place your order for takeout or dine in. If you do dine in, they'll give you a number to place at the table you end up sitting for their staff to deliver the food to you. Their menu is quite extensive ranging from wraps and salads to more traditional American entrees with a combination of meat and side dishes. For those with dietary restrictions, you're bound to find something that fits your craving. Their sides are probably the highlight given the variety and richness in flavors. I ended up getting the salmon entree which got completely overshadowed by its two sides. The salmon itself was overcooked and lacked in flavor yet was serviceable in boosting the protein content of the meal. The mac and cheese was creamy and hearty despite being gluten free, however, I'd prefer more bite to it. The cauliflower was flavorful and was super enjoyable to eat due to its tenderness and size variability between pieces. As a whole, the dish had everything you'd want but individually, they wouldn't have stood up on their own. In addition to the savory, the sweets are also something to consider. The chocolate chip cashew cookie has great texture as you bite into the chunky yet moist dessert. The crunch from the nuts and the soft, sweetness from the chocolate make this decedent snack a great capstone to your meal. We also ordered one of their sangrias to share among the table and it was quite refreshing. It wasn't too complex in flavor but it was a nice change up to the typical tap water. The staff were very friendly throughout the meal service including the one who took our order and the one who served our meal. Overall, Flower Child clearly is making a statement with its menu full of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free items. Their dietary inclusive environment welcomes all types of eaters to come enjoy their creations while maintaining a balance of all the food groups. The execution of their dishes are a bit lackluster and some items, even their prized sides, are hit or miss. The prices are reasonable for the variety of food you're getting but the portion size is on the smaller side. If you happen to be in the area and are looking for a good combination of healthy ingredients for a quick meal, then Flower Child might be a good option for you. Personally, I wouldn't travel far for this but if you're looking for a healthy detox while needing to eat out, it's not a bad option!

Came here from Pilates Class. Food was delicious! I love the layout of the restaurant and bright ambiance. The service was great too. Food: Mediterranean Chicken Kabob - Delicious flavor! Veggies & chicken cooked perfectly and I loved the fluffiness of the rice with quinoa. I also enjoyed how the veggies still have some crunch and they weren't mushy. Avocado Hummus with Pita & Raw Veggies - Fresh crunchy veggies, the colorful carrots were my favorite, pita was packed with healthy grains and tasty. Avocado hummus was the best part. Chocolate Chip Cashew Cookie- I love a good chocolate chip cookie. Perfectly chewy and a bit of crunch. It has just the right amount of buttery flavor and the chocolate was fantastic. The cashew and coconut were pleasant additions too. Loved it!! For healthy and tasty meals in the Flower Hill Promenade at Del Mar give this restaurant a try!

I always go to Flower child if i crave a heathy, nourishing but hearty salad or a warm bowl with veggies and protein. This fast casual restaurant offers healthy and balanced meals. The kids menu is excellent and doesn't have any fried ingredients and fairly priced. There is a beautiful and large outdoor back patio with plenty of shade. I love trying their seasonal sangrias ! its a counter order place, so service is minimal yet polite. My only suggestion for them to offer coffee and some breakfast or brunch forward choices.

Chicken enchiladas to go with extra pickled onions

I've been to multiple Flowerchild locations now, and unfortunately this last visit was a bit of a miss. I would give 2 stars for how the service left me feeling, but decided to give 3 due to the chicken enchiladas. We ordered the chicken enchiladas to go and decided to try the queso dip since we've never had it before. First of all, the container was only about half filled. If this is the same amount you get when dining in, I'm not sure it is worth $9. Secondly, and this is the red flag for me .. since I made the dietary lifestyle choice of no fried food (due to no gallbladder this was one type of food I decided to give up), I asked if the tortilla chips that accompany this dip were fried. Typically they are, so I thought it best to ask. The employee that helped us was kind; however, in general, if an employee does not know, I rather he or she go ask instead of saying, "I think they are baked." Regardless, I trusted what he said and we did not upgrade to veggies in luei of chips. Upon arriving home and unpacking our takeout bag, we noticed that the chip bag was oily. Therefore, I called the restaurant, and initially I thought it was fortunate that the employee that picked up was the same one that helped us. However, after I explained the situation, I was taken aback by his response. He got defensive and said he would never say they were baked if they weren't (this was after I asked him over the phone if he could ask a manager or chef if they were fried, then going and checking, and then now saying they were fried). At that point, I knew this conversation was not going anywhere, so I thanked him for his time and hung up. I don't know whether to feel upset or hurt. Unfortunate experience, and I hope to have a better experience next time.

Flower child never misses. Their menu is versatile and inclusive (lots of gluten free and vegetarian options). You order at the counter and your food is delivered to you. We had our food on the table in less than 10 mins of ordering. Very spacious and lots of places to sit inside and out.

Time and time again, the food here always tastes so fresh and healthy without feeling heavy! If you're a cheese lover don't miss the queso dip appetizer, it's rich, creamy, and seriously addictive. Their seasonal dishes are also worth trying! The interior at this location is spacious and beautiful, with additional seating downstairs and outdoor patios. Service was friendly and efficient. Wish they had more locations in the SoCal area!

I have been here twice so far and really enjoyed the food. The location is very spacious inside, and has plenty of parking. You order at the counter and they give you a number to place on your table. We had a larger party, and there was plenty of room just down the stairwell. The food here tastes very fresh. This time I had the soba noodles which I greatly enjoyed. It does have nuts in it, some vegetables, and chicken. They also had 2 house made sangria flavors, and they let us sample some to decide the one we wanted. Both were pretty good and I ordered a glass. I tried a bite of the sweet potato fries which they served with ranch that tasted like it was made in house. They were very good and a bit addicting. I definitely would recommend checking this place out if you want something fresh and healthy as they have a good amount of options for that.

This restaurant is pretty large. There's an outdoor patio in the front with a small indoor area with additional seating around the main entrance where you order. Then there's a large room downstairs and a nice large outdoor patio in the back. Everything is decorated really cute. The staff is nice and friendly when they took our orders at the counter and when delivering our food to the table. I'm deducting stars because the portions were pretty small for how much I paid. I ordered the $17+ braised bed pot roast plate. What got dropped off at the table looked like half an order with a small scoop of mushy mashed potatoes. $17 plus a fountain drink was a $23 lunch before I even added the tip. For an average tasting lunch. Maybe I should have ordered the wrap like my friend. It had a full size wrap and came with a small side salad. Parking was also a nightmare. Not enough parking for all the restaurants, businesses, and Whole Foods.

OK, yeah so definitely a four star establishment. This was OK in terms of the variety of food and the amount of food that they give you, I went with the yelpers: I tried the turkey avocado wrap, and I got a soup on the side, which was pretty good. We went for a work lunch and the other options looked pretty good but overall, I would say a variety of other flavors or sauces could help enhance the flavors.

Went to celebrate my sister's birthday at one of her favorite restaurants, Flower Child in Del Mar. The restaurant was bright and airy and the staff was welcoming and very attentive. You place your order at the counter, find a seat and they bring the food to you. Drinks are self serve. The atmosphere here is casual and relaxed. We arrived at 11:30 am on a Sunday and the restaurant didn't get busy until 12:30 so get there early to beat the lunch crowd. I decided to order the Steak Plate that included two sides. I chose macaroni and cheese and smashed gold potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The smashed potatoes were light and fluffy and the mac and cheese with aged white cheddar and parmesan was creamy. The perfect sides for the dish. I also tried the Red Mango Acai iced tea which was decaf, but I really enjoyed the Rose Petal lemonade which was sweet, tangy and refreshing. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit to Flower Child and will definitely return. From the friendly staff to the casual feel of the restaurant, it's a great place to relax and enjoy a meal with family and friends.

I like my work immensely, but also need to recharge too. My motto in life is, "work hard, play harder, you only got this one life, make it count." I asked chatGPT to find me a place in Del Mar that has sick ocean views and no matter how I asked chatGPT this question, Jake's kept popping up as number one. I needed some lunch so came in here after 3pm, and it was closer to happy hour. As soon as you walk in, you just see the ocean and it just calms you. I sat down at the bar and it wasnt too busy but with a few people. This place is for grown ups, so act like one. It had a laid back, ocean vibe so very relaxed for sure. Bartender very professional, and very courteous. Poured me a blonde to get started and gave me time to chose my food. There is happy hour here but not too many selections. Today, it was choices of some of flatbreads and a salad and I wasnt interested. Happy hour only Mon - Wed anyways. I wasnt terribly hungry so ordered the ceviche. I love fish, doesn't matter how you make it, as long as its good, I will like it. Ceviche was spot on fresh and yummy and appreciate a bit of avocado added. It was the perfect snack, while watching the ocean view and washing it all down with an ice cold blonde. A perfect gown up way to spend the afternoon celebrating life and how gorgeous Mother Nature is. There is valet parking here which is $8 and peak times $10. I was able to find free 2 hour parking on the street though. Bathroom was clean and everything about this place would bring me back in again. I cant wait to show off this place to friends and family when they come visit me!

And if you can get a table in the dining room along the beach, even better. Definitely worth the wait. We started lunch with two mai tais, and they were absolutely fabulous -- classic all the way. The food, however, is where the restaurant didn't really shine. They seemed to play it safe. If you prefer lighter, more understated flavors, this may be the perfect place for you. We started with the ceviche. The guacamole had turned color and didn't seem very fresh, but overall it was still a light and decent starter. For my entrée, I ordered what was essentially a cioppino, even though they call it something else on the menu. The mussels tasted slightly off, though the two pieces of fish were tender and nicely cooked. Unfortunately, the dish really lacked flavor, and I ended up having to salt it heavily. Our waitress was wonderful -- very sweet, attentive, and diligent throughout the meal. Overall, this is a great spot for the atmosphere, drinks, and staff. While the food didn't particularly impress me flavor-wise, the beachfront setting alone makes it worth visiting.

Which is what brought us to Beeside Balcony in Del Mar during the 1st SDRW of 2026. We had Saturday night reservations & got into town early with some time to kill. We found nearby street parking fairly easily. The hostess was able to quickly accommodate us with a table despite our early arrival. Indoor dining space is minimal. But as an upstairs restaurant with "Balcony" literally in its name, the outdoor patio is where you want to be. Our server was a inconsistent on attentiveness & was slow to warm up, though she was quite personable later in the meal. Along with all of the al fresco charm dining on the balcony offered, there was also a curious & less desirable element of the ambiance. During our meal, someone went around shooting pics/ videos for social media. It felt distracting & intrusive. While the SDRW menu was what brought us here, we opted for the Chef's menu after looking over all the options. I ordered the Salmon Croquette/ Denver Steak/ Churros. She ordered Cioppino Soup/ Barramundi/ S'More Cake. Although the pacing of our courses from the kitchen was uneven, most of what we had was good to great to wonderful. Sharing tastes of our dishes with each other, the 1 egregious miss for me was the Cioppino Soup. The seafood in it was good. But that broth was not. Aside from that, the Salmon Croquette & the Barramundi were delicious. The Denver Steak was a revelation. I'd never heard of this cut before, so I looked it up. Truly, a bang for the buck all star. & prepared perfectly here with a fantastic chimichurri. For our desserts, my Churros were good but not anything to get particularly excited about. Now, on the other hand, that S'More Cake? Wow. insanely indulgent with an ooey-gooey center. I honestly can't think of a better way to end a meal. Overall, the ambiance, service, & food all had highs & lows. Collectively, though, the sum total of the experience was pleasant enough that I would be interested in coming back. My threshold for 4 stars is if I'd come back. So, 4 stars it is.
