The food came out quickly. We had the chips and salsa (excellent). I asked for a non spicy salsa and my friends wanted spicy so they brought some of each. We split the the Heart of Palm Ceviche! So amazing and it was big with a beautiful presentation. Just delicious. I could have eaten that alone with no other items. It was a vegan Ceviche and the fish was not missed. My friends ordered really cool cocktails and raved about them. My one friend said that this is the only place she can get this particular cocktail and that she comes here just for it. I ordered 2 tacos (Mr. Asparagus and the Baja fish taco). Both delicious and they came with housemade potato chips (which I thought was weird until I tasted them). I was so full but I couldn't not eat the chips because they were so good. One friend ordered the Quesabirria and she didn't love it. It was very strange as it was wrapped in fried cheese. We came here the other night with some friends for an impromptu dinner. The space is open to the outdoors and despite the tacky neon sign, we liked the general ambience and decor. Service is excellent--from the hostess to the runner to our waiter, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Three of us started with margaritas and they were gone within, like, a few sips because the glasses are short and the ice is aplenty. The cucumber-jalapeno one was particularly tasty...sadly gone too soon. We ordered guacamole for the table, and we'd highly recommend doing the same because the chips here are SO awesome. Thin and crispy and not greasy...we all kept commenting on their excellence. The guac and salsas it was served with were also great. Unfortunately, we didn't really love our main dishes. The quesadillas that the kids all got were amazing--a sizable portion with beans and rice--so we were eagerly anticipating our own dishes. The sinaloa style tostada was drowning in its marinade and really could have used more of the vegetables it promised to come with but didn't. The balance of ingredients was way off. We liked the quesabirria taco despite its being quite heavy and dry; the chicken al-pastor had way too much citrus. We wished our main dishes were slightly better than they were because then this would have been a 4-star experience. Beautiful location with ocean view, many seats, clean, and a very nice dining area. The won tostadas were the best thing I've eaten. Avocado was perfect. The spicy tuna was delicious, the crispy wonton, mandarin orange pieces, and remaining flavors all went perfectly well together. Better than my two tacos. Our drinks were made well and it was a fun evening with the soccer game playing. We had to wait a half hour for a table, and it was worth it. The Baja fish was grilled and a little dry for my taste, but the mango salsa helped. They fry the cheese to their tortillas which was a yummy touch and these tacos were big and heavily portioned. How to lose a good customer, here you go. I was in Del Mar meeting a friend and she had lunch today at Salt + Lime. She told me the waiter Omar told her that the girl with the spots in her skin (me) left without paying on May 14th when we were celebrating her birthday and that he was informing her just to let me know that probably they won't let me enter in the restaurant anymore. Well, this is absolutely ridiculous, so NOT true and so insulting. We were celebrating the birthday of that precise friend that told me this and another friend and I told the waiter Alejandro F that we will pay separately for our consumptions and whatever my friend ordered and then whoever was coming to the party later on will pay in whatever way they want. So we clarified we were going to pay separately and then I had to leave early and told Alejandro that my friend will pay for us as we informed to start with. Later that night I asked my friend what was my part and paid her my part. End of story. Now, not only they accuse me but when I talked to the manager over the phone (Omar put me in touch with him) this manager told me he was told and was not accusing me but the group. Well, manager, so your math, I showed the ticket that my friend sent me with the portion we paid and you should train your staff to make sure all the money due is paid at the end of the dinner and not false accusing someone a month later. I have never been so embarrassed in my life and apparently there were $80 missing which is anyways a ridiculous amount considering the many people with have been mentioning this place to and the good word we have put about the music and cozy ambiance. This is not the way to treat customers. No apologies, no maybe is OUR misunderstanding due to OUR bad management and our inabilility to do the math. Please change attitude and processes and stop accusing people of something they haven't done. read more

We ended up on a Friday night in Del Mar. And decided on this place for dinner due to good Yelp reviews and liked the vibe based on the photos. I was able to get a reservation and we didn't have to wait that long. The hostess was nice and we were given a nice spot. Right away, we like the ambience which is nice and cozy. The food was good and we find the servings to be towards bigger portions. For starters we ordered the Caesar salad. It was huge and the waiter split it for us. That was good and refreshing. We also had the Bone Marrow Quesadilla. They were huge bone marrows sprinkled with rockets greens and quesadillas on the side. We also had an asada taco and quesa birria taco. Which were also good. For drinks I had the cilantro jalapeño which is nothing special. For dessert we had the Kuty's churros which was nothing special. Only thing I didn't like was the credit card processing fee which they pass on the customers. Normal tip rates are now much higher than before. So any additional charges just don't sit right with me. So we try to avoid places like this especially since there's a lot going of good food places out there that don't have extra charges. read more

Cute little corner area in Del Mar off the main road. The service was great. The tacos were delicious - especially the shrimp taco. I loved my strawberry drink with a Tajin treat. We heard this place started as a food truck and they hope to expand into another brick and mortar location. It must be those great tacos! There is limited free parking behind the building as well as two hour street parking. My friend parked at the nearby City Hall for free and walked up. We drive to The Oceanside to LaJolla PCH drive and we love driving by Del Mar coast. We just recently drove and as a Yelper, Yelped this place as reviews are good. I had to investigate. Feeling Mexican foodie so I dove right in. Reserved and after about 10 minutes, we got our seat. This place isn't small, but it isn't big either so reserve during busy times. Bar area exists and seating on counter height chairs near the bar too! All pretty much covered cozy outdoor/indoor type seating. I liked the vibe. I tried the bone marrow quesadilla. The bone marrow, I think 3 pieces, was good. The quesadilla that is separate was good too. The bone marrow being sauced a little would have been better served with a plain toast or tortillas, but I get it and ain't complaining. We also had the tacos. Good as well. Finishing it with churros. Service was decent and prices was decent. The only thing I must say is that they charged us for a salad they split without even asking us if we wanted it split. That's a big shame! And on top of that, this place charges more for credit card usage passing the costs to the customers. So your bill that you thought was decent, is now a little fluffier that you would like it to be. I'm not too happy about that! I feel like places that tack on more after you've enjoyed dining, just blows it when doing this! And this place ain't no different. Is that even legal? So what could have been a pretty decent experience becomes a meh experience. Verdict - hard pass for me. I'd rather go to up front pricing rather than a hidden pricing one. Came for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday. We had a reservation, but it wasn't too crowded around 3pm. We were seated next to their indoor tree. The restaurant itself is open not enclosed, so on a hot day, it can get a little warm. We started off with their Potato Taquitos. An order comes with three with mashed potato inside. It's topped with a mound of shredded lettuce, crema, cotija cheese, pickled onion, and green salsa. These were pretty good! we also got their Salt & Lime Salad that has mixed greens, queso panela, toasted almonds, cherry tomatoes, mandarins, green apple, avocado, and a cumin vinaigrette. This salad was a pretty big portion size. I enjoyed the mix of toppings, and the dressing was tasty! A refreshing salad on a hot day. I saw photos of their ceviche, and it looked incredible! We got the Ceviche Yucatan with shrimp, fish, onions, tomato, cilantro, radish ,orange lime base, and creamy cilantro. When they bring it to your table, they'll pour on the orange lime based and drizzle on the chili oil. They'll also leave the bottle, so you can add more if you'd like. It also comes with two crispy tostadas, though with the portion size of the ceviche, I think they could have provided more. Though, overall, the ceviche was a hit! I've never had a White Mole before so seeing that on the menu caught my eye. This White Mole dish comes with a variety of mushrooms, green oil, chili powder, and micro cilantro. Overall: Cool vibe. Great drinks. Some of the food was great, some just okay. We arrived at the restaurant on a Sunday night with a reservation. There were more people outside the restaurant waiting than those inside. It didn't seem like a manger was present. A bartender and waitress were helping seat people. We were planning to catch a movie for Galentine's Day in an hour and 20 minutes and I was worried given the hostess was running around setting up table settings and seating people for 10 minutes when we arrived. We weren't greeted for about 5 minutes then just sat at the bar to try to rush things along. They were definitely understaffed but we decided to risk it since it doesn't take too long to prepare most raw items. However, I was pleasantly surprised given poor first impression. In fact, we got our food before our drinks. We were in and out in 21 minutes. Strawberry margaritas were excellent and came with candy. Tostadas were great but I'd recommend ordering chips to scoop up the extra ceviche because they only give you 3 tostadas. Skip the carne asada taco. I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, and while the ocean view and overall ambiance were beautiful, the experience was not good. I had a reservation, but despite that--and even though there were several empty tables--we still had to wait quite a while to be seated. My friend ordered the fish tacos, which he said were just average, and we shared the potato taquitos, which were also underwhelming. As a vegetarian, I ordered the Nopalita and Tampico tostadas but was mistakenly served a fish tostada. Thankfully, I noticed before eating it. Trying to get a server's attention took forever, and when I finally did, they casually admitted it was the wrong dish without even offering an apology. What was worse, they expected me to still eat the correct tostada that had been sitting next to the fish one, which felt careless and inconsiderate. After yet another long wait, I was finally brought the right tostadas, but they were just okay. The nopalitos were cold and not particularly flavorful--I've had much better elsewhere. To top it off, the server accidentally dropped two churros on the floor and, while they did offer complimentary ice cream for my friend's birthday, it didn't make up for the poor service and food. I understand mistakes happen, but a sincere apology and an effort to make things right go a long way--something I wish the staff here understood. I also ordered the guacamole and this was definitely shareable. I like that it came with 2 salsa options, but will say they all needed salt and more flavor.
