I've been wanting to check this place out, since they offer H/H on Saturday which is rare and much appreciated! The staff were welcoming and friendly. I had the cilantro and jalapeño margarita and sadly wasn't too much of a fan. I found it too sweet which was surprising but after I let it sit for a long while and mashed the lime into it was better. I also ordered the guacamole and this was definitely shareable. I like that it came with 2 salsa options, but will say they all needed salt and more flavor. The open airy concept with peek a boo views of the Pacific Ocean makes for a romantic spot for dinner. We started out with their fried shrimp appetizer, ceviche Yucatán, and bone marrow. All 3 were excellent in their own way. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I like the full bottles of still water so we didn't have to worry about refills. I really wanted to love this place given the location and vibe, but unfortunately it fell pretty flat for us. The drinks were honestly the biggest letdown. I ordered the jalapeño cilantro margarita, and it tasted more like watered-down cilantro lime water than an actual cocktail--no kick, no balance. My husband got an old fashioned and it was completely undrinkable--super watered down but somehow also tasted like smoke or even gasoline... just very weird and off-putting. We both barely touched our drinks. On the plus side, the ceviche was good and probably the highlight of the visit--but by the time it arrived, we were already pretty turned off by the drinks and just wanted to wrap things up. Considering the price point, it felt like a really mediocre experience overall, especially for what you'd expect in Del Mar. Also worth noting if you're bringing a dog: I wouldn't consider this very big dog-friendly. The space is tight and not particularly accommodating. Bummed, because this spot has potential, but we likely won't be back. read more

I had dinner with a friend and we both agree the food, service, and ambiance were incredible! We ordered the ceviche yucatan and guacamole to share. If you like your ceviche with a strong citrus flavor, you are guaranteed to love it! The guacamole was very good, but the chips were a bit oily. We each ordered a quesabirria and taco mi-ray. These 2 were equally delicious. The quesabirria is a best seller, and I can understand why. Definitely try these two tacos! We also ordered "put the lime on the coconut" (corralejo silver, lime juice, pineapple juice, and coconut cream). It was a delicious cocktail! When dining here, plan to arrive early so you can catch a beautiful sunset. The restaurant is located within walking distance to the beach. This was a last minute serendipitous find to start off my bachelorette weekend! The location is beautiful and some tables have an ocean view. The music was at the right volume and created a fun yet relaxed mood (think best of Spanish 90s). The food was fantastic! The tacos are pretty substantial so you may only need 1-1.5 with a side. My family and I drove into town this week for vacation. I called them the day before asking if they were going to play the soccer game(mexico vs South Korea). After confirming all of that information I asked for a reservation next to a tv so we can watch it. Shocker.. my family and I rolled up right at the start of the game and the only table they had for us was a table with the view of the back is the tv and another tv so far that you couldn't make anything out. The hostess told me she thought we weren't going to show up and gave our table away. Super irritated I left and had to go to an even shittier food place. There is a really fun vibe to this place, and there's a great ambience and view. I love the overall feel. Everybody here is incredibly friendly, although be prepared, there is very limited seating. I came on a Wednesday at 7:30pm, and there was bar seating available. There was this great deal that evening, where we got 6 tacos for $30, and I do think that this was a great deal, although I'm not sure how often it was offered. Sure the vibe is nice but to me it all comes down to the food. My friend and I came in for happy hour and everything was decent besides the drinks were watered down. We ordered the guac, the shrimp, and 2 margs off the HH menu and everything was going well. It wasn't until halfway into the guac that I bit into this hard rock chunk HARD since i didn't expect there to be a rock in there. Upon further investigation it was because the stone bowl they used was chipped and two large pieces went right into the guac. I made note of this to the hostess so this doesn't happen to anyone else and she said she would tell management. Heard nothing from her and when another man came to ask if we were ready for the check, I told him the situation which he seemed unaware of. He asked me sarcastically if I needed the ambulance and what I would like to be done in this situation which I thought was such a poor way to talk to a customer and handle the situation. I didn't necessarily want something specific to happen but it would have been bad if I chipped or cracked my tooth so I just wanted to make them aware of the situation, but the attitude of that man was so offensive. He ended up comping the bill but treated us like we chipped the bowl ourselves or something to get something out of them. SUCH AN OFF-PUTTING EXPERIENCE!! We love coming to Salt and Lime! One of our favorite things about this place is how dog-friendly it is. The patio is nicely decorated and has such a fun, casual atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy. Our server, Bresas, was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Let's start with what I didn't like: Reservations. To make a reservation you have to put in your credit card and if you cancel within 48 hours you're out $10 per person on the reservation. We didn't wanna make that reservation because it was too stressful. Instead, we ended up parking near the restaurant on a Friday night walked up to the host and made a reservation for an hour later. Took a walk on the beach and then came back and had a reservation waiting for us. Also, felt the prices are too high. What I liked: The restaurant has a great vibe. To eat, we picked a bunch of different items and tried them all. One of my favorites was the queso dip. I was not impressed with the chips and the salsa was Ok. But I was hungry enough that I kept eating it. The highlight was that the waitress who was very nice overheard we were celebrating birthdays, and at the end of the meal, give us a complementary churro dessert. That was very good! Such a cute spot with modern decor, a cute layout, and great margaritas! We love that they have weekend happy hour from 2:30-5:30, when the margaritas are only $10. Absolutely love the cilantro & Serrano marg-- will come back for that. They also gave complimentary chips & salsa (feel like that's more rare nowadays) & the salsas are good! What a fun place. I am regular to the real estate of this establishment as it has morphed over the years and changed little in general other than decor (beautiful every time.) I've heard of S/L for a while but haven't had the chance to try it. It was day after T-Giving, so i'm giving some grace to the slow service, but she was wonderful otherwise. The tacos were AH-mazing. But...pricey! 12 dollars EACH. We ordered three and shared with 2 people (girls). $36 for 3 tacos albeit big and yum I'm not sure is justified. But they were delish. We go the BONE MARROW which was unbelievable. Now that was worth the cost for sure. The drinks were fun, overall wonderful menu and wonderful time. The food is on - all items ordered from start to finish were bomb Here is what was ordered - Asada tacos, fish tacos, asparagus tacos, Tampico tostadas (sooo good ), chips and guacamole When the menu recommends 3 tacos it's bc they are small so make sure to order w enough food. Tostadas come 2 per plate but they are the size of a regular tostada you might get elsewhere. I ordered 2 tostadas and 1 taco and was perfectly topped off. You are in a great location, Vibe is good, and Food is awesome, only issue is fairly expensive for amount of food you get so be prepared. I have been here 3 times now and service is hit or miss.
