    Sugar Spiced Salmon

First and foremost, the view was absolutely stunning! The atmosphere alone made for a wonderful dining experience. Our server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made several recommendations, and every one of them was spot on. I ordered the sugar-spiced salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, mustard sauce, and Chinese green beans. The dish was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The combination of sweet and savory flavors paired wonderfully with the creamy mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great food, excellent service, and an unforgettable view. I would definitely return.

Date night perfection at @pacificadelmar Del Mar From the butternut squash ravioli with poached lobster to the salmon over green beans, crispy calamari, and flavorful crab cakes--every bite was a win. Paired with a beautiful bottle of wine and finished strong with key lime pie and peanut butter pie A must for a special night out. Love the service it is soo amazing and love the atmosphere.

Usually enjoy this place for its location and casual dining. Girl at counter was great. However, wait over 30 minutes for a bowl of fruit and Açaí bowl that we had to ask about seems like an issue with communication. When food came out, seems pretty rushed in putting together.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant and finally made it to Del Mar. Food & drinks were delicious. We had the halibut plate & glazed salmon plates. For appetizers we enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Poke. Portion sizes were good. The atmosphere and view from the restaurant is so awesome. Before dark you can see the ocean. Make a reservation they get busy. We happened to stop here during Restaurant Week. Good specials. I wasn't crazy about the Cesar salad. But everything else was so good. If you're looking for fresh seafood, you have to try this restaurant it's so good.

We had the place to ourselves on a Saturday for brunch. It was sort of sad to see because Monarch next door was packed. We were seated out on their covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our waitress was good though we did have to track her down a few times. The food was hit or miss. I thought the salmon hash was mediocre and the portion was on the small side. The Banana Foster French toast was good and was a huge portion.

We came here during restaurant week and were excited to try something new. The restaurant week menu was a great deal and gave us a chance to try something a variety of items. The salmon was fantastic! Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Another item we ordered was the Halibut. The sauce had a little kick to it and came on a bed of rice and bok choy. For appetizers, I recommend starting with the poke nachos. For drinks, I loved both the spicy watermelon margarita and the watermelon martini. Try getting a reservation during sunset because you'll have a great view how of the ocean!

We arrived a little before our reservation and yet we're promptly seated at the most beautiful small table with spectacular ocean views. Minutes later during a sorbet- colored sunset, we were served our drinks and toasted while watching whales breech off in the distance. Our server Lindsey was amazing, super friendly, accommodating, gave great recommendations, and was super swift with refilling drinks, bringing sides, and in general was very attentive! We enjoyed fresh oysters, a lemongrass infused shrimp cocktail, spicy Fra Divola shrimp linguine pasta, roasted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, and for dessert, Keylime pie and chocolate lava cake. Everything was spectacular! Next time we are in Del Mar, we will definitely return! ** parking was the only issue, we had to circle around quite a few different lots within a five minute walk to finally find a parking spot.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS wonderful brunch spot with an amazing view of the ocean. I reserved using Open Table. They have a very nice brunch on Sundays. Our reservation was for 5 and then 3 others in our group decided that they wanted to participate. I couldn't change the reservation on open table so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone was super understanding and added to our reservation and made it 8. Fast forward to the day of brunch and 2 people could not make it, so the manager was very kind enough to change our seating to fit 6. OUR TABLE WAS IN THE PERFECT SPOT! The view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND EVERYTHING! Our server was Gabby, and she was amazing. She has these really cute earrings and she took great care of us. Her customer service was FIRST CLASS! Our party is used to bottomless mimosas and they do not have that here so we were able to ask the chef for two bottles of prosecco and sides of mimosa juices, a la carte. This worked out very well as we were able to pour how we wanted and not bother the staff for refills. The FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The Chef definitely is top tier. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We ordered: FOR THE TABLE: Brussels Sprouts in a honey glaze sauce with feta -FREAKING DELICIOUS! MEALS: Short Rib Hash over potatoes with a fried egg on top, Chicken Fries Steak Benedict (best meal ever), American Breakfast, and a Traditional Hash. One of our ladies was not hungry after the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaurant for brunch. There is also a Pacifica Café below with a nice view and patio seating. This is probably my new fave brunch spot. Gabby was wonderful, the manager was super customer service oriented, and the whole staff was First Class!

Very decent spot. The food is consistently good. With the Poke nachos being a clear standout, after being jaded from a nearby experience with Poke this was much better and good quality fish. Every dish we got was tasty and flavorful. The service is pretty swift, kind and professional. If you sit outside there are nice views of the water in the distance.

Mulligatawny soup. Very-well made with the perfect seasoning
    Patty C.

I've been to Pacifica many times, especially pre-COVID and have always enjoyed their happy hour options. This visit, though, was extra special because we came for Restaurant Week lunch and were treated to the full menu. I was thrilled to see their Mulligatawny soup included. I love the flavor, and the portion size was generous enough that one serving left me completely satisfied. From the moment my mom and I were seated by the hostess, Lily, I knew it was going to be a fun and memorable day. She was incredibly kind and accommodating with our seating request and placed us on the patio with the perfect ocean view. Absolutely beautiful. Our waitress, Isela, was equally wonderful. She was friendly, professional, and very attentive, especially when my mom needed some menu modifications due to dietary restrictions. Isela made sure everything could be adjusted, which made my mom feel truly taken care of. My mom ordered the salmon and said it was cooked perfectly. Thank you, Isela, for being so warm and hospitable. Daniel also deserves a shout-out. He was constantly checking on us, refilling water, clearing plates, and keeping our table neat without ever being intrusive. The entire staff worked seamlessly together. Overall, fantastic food, great service, and an unbeatable view. I highly recommend Pacifica for happy hour, Restaurant Week, or a relaxing night out by the ocean

If you are looking for the perfect date night spot that not only serves the freshest seafood and craft cocktails , but that also has incredible service and a view that will blow your mind, Pacifica Del Mar must be added to your list! They have it all, plus some, and the views from their rooftop during sunset hour is just the cherry on top! Everything we ate was so fresh and super delicious from the spicy ahi poke, to the flakey halibut and perfectly seared scallops, to the peanut butter cheesecake... just WOW! We ordered: Grapefruit Martini (on the rocks) Crispy Calamari Poke Bowl Alaskan Halibut Scallops Old Fashion Peanut Butter Cheese Cake Lava Cake Follow @allthingsfoodinsandiego for more must try San Diego restaurants, date night ideas, food experiences, kid friendly spots, with a sprinkling of home-cooking!

Food is delicious! Service is expeditious and friendly. The restaurant is nice. The location of the restaurant is close to the beach with many shops around it. I've been here a few times already and will be back!

    Allow dogs for outside seating?

Hi Andrew, our bar patio is dog friendly!

Do they still have happy hour?

Yes they do, at least M-Th and I believe it goes until 6:30pm. We went on a Wednesday a few weeks ago

    Do they offer outside seating?

Typically , yes! Not sure now due to COVID restrictions.

How much does someone spend here if it's for 2 people?

Right now, nothing, and we hope they re-open and succeed as soon as COVID is under control.

What are the hours of happy hour?

Everyday 4-6:30; All night Sunday & Monday

Do they still offer the early bird menu?

Hello, yes we are currently offering a new 3 for $30 tasting menu in celebration of our 30 year anniversary for our early bird menu. It is on our website if you'd like to preview it.

This restaurant showed up on a list for vegan options. Where are the vegan options? ...I do not see anything on the menu that specifies this

I wasn't looking for vegan options but if they have some, they are few. It's primarily a seafood restaurant.

Thank you Sanjiv for your invite. We will surely stop by next time we are in town. We appreciate you for commenting on our review. When is the best time to come in for Shrimp? Or is that all year round?

The setup is pretty casual, you order at the counter and then find your own table. We grabbed a nice corner booth with which worked out great for our group and all the kids. We ordered the calamari, parmesan garlic fries, and the cornmeal battered fish. Our friends got the quinoa bowl with cod and the garlic shrimp rice plate. The standout for me was definitely the cornmeal battered fish. It was fresh, juicy, and cooked really well. The fries that came with it were just okay, but the coleslaw was surprisingly one of my favorites I've had. The Parmesan garlic fries were interesting, there was too much garlic and the garlic was way too spicy and overpowering. It was inexpensive, which probably explains why there seemed to be more batter than actual calamari. The texture was also inconsistent, some pieces were so chewy that we could barely bite through them. But I'd honestly come back just for that fish and slaw combo. The calamari was a little disappointing. My biggest and only issue was the wait for our food. Our friends got their meals pretty quickly, but ours never came out. My husband checked twice, and both times we were told it was coming soon. Meanwhile, two tables that came in after us got their food, and one even finished and left before ours arrived. Our friends were deliberately eating slowly so we could all eat together, but they still ended up finishing before our food showed up which sucked since they had to wait for us later. Despite that, I thought the food was good overall. Hopefully the delay was just an off day because the fish was definitely worth ordering and eating again!

We started with cocktails, including the Prickly Lady, which was watery and completely tasteless. I then ordered the trio of dips, which were equally underwhelming--nothing memorable or distinctive, and no better than what you could buy at Trader Joe's or throw together in a blender in a couple of minutes. While we were trying our best to enjoy the drinks and appetizers, we also couldn't help but notice the very blah ambiance around us. It was quiet, cold, and insincere. There was truly nothing charming about the place and the whole vibe felt off. That should have been our first red flag, but we tried to ignore it to make the most of our rare date night. For my entrée, I ordered the branzino piccata. This was especially disappointing because branzino is one of my favorite dishes, and when you commit to a whole fish, there's no turning back. While I'm used to navigating bones, I found a bone in nearly every other bite, which made the dish unpleasant to eat. Worse, the fish itself was incredibly dry and completely lacking in flavor, accompanied by nothing more than a few warm cherry tomatoes. There was no cohesive sauce or flavor profile to speak of. Dessert followed the same theme. The s'mores cake was also dry, with a barely-there chocolate ganache center and a marshmallow topping that was honestly laughable. Unfortunately, the food wasn't even the worst part of the evening. At the end of the meal, we were told we could not use a gift card despite having called 24 hours in advance to confirm it would be accepted when we made our reservation. This led to an interaction with the owner and chef that was shocking and completely unprofessional. He caused a scene, raised his voice, and yelled at my husband and me, the paying customers. He repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence while allowing my husband to finish speaking, which felt blatantly disrespectful. When I calmly asked if there was anything he could do for us, given that he's in the hospitality business, his response was simply: "No. You can pay the whole bill and leave." I have truly never been treated this way at any restaurant in my life. Between the consistently dry, flavorless food and the hostile, misogynistic behavior from the owner, I am genuinely shocked this place is still in business. Sadly, the restaurant seems to be run exactly the way the food is cooked--poorly.

She told me the waiter Omar told her that the girl with the spots in her skin (me) left without paying on May 14th when we were celebrating her birthday and that he was informing her just to let me know that probably they won't let me enter in the restaurant anymore. Well, this is absolutely ridiculous, so NOT true and so insulting. We were celebrating the birthday of that precise friend that told me this and another friend and I told the waiter Alejandro F that we will pay separately for our consumptions and whatever my friend ordered and then whoever was coming to the party later on will pay in whatever way they want. So we clarified we were going to pay separately and then I had to leave early and told Alejandro that my friend will pay for us as we informed to start with. Later that night I asked my friend what was my part and paid her my part. End of story. Now, not only they accuse me but when I talked to the manager over the phone (Omar put me in touch with him) this manager told me he was told and was not accusing me but the group. Well, manager, so your math, I showed the ticket that my friend sent me with the portion we paid and you should train your staff to make sure all the money due is paid at the end of the dinner and not false accusing someone a month later. I have never been so embarrassed in my life and apparently there were $80 missing which is anyways a ridiculous amount considering the many people with have been mentioning this place to and the good word we have put about the music and cozy ambiance. This is not the way to treat customers. No apologies, no maybe is OUR misunderstanding due to OUR bad management and our inabilility to do the math. Steak 48 absolutely lived up to that calling as my wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary together. I booked a reservation 2 weeks out online. Steak 48 has a strict business casual dress code. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic from our hostess to busboy to waiter. We were treated like VIPs which really elevated the whole experience. The interior is immaculately classic with that "old money" subtle vibe. In addition to a world-class butchery, steak 48 also has a fantastic fresh seafood bar. As with any elevated dining experience, my philosophy and recommendation is always to order a wide variety of dishes and curate them in partnership with recommendations from our waiter. This experience was no different. My wife and I ordered the house bread, roasted Brussels sprouts, and hasselback potatoes for sides and appetizers. For mains we indulged in a dry aged prime bone-on rib eye, shrimp, and each ordered a lobster tail from the fresh seafood bar. Cocktails were also ordered. We ended with a complimentary anniversary dessert. The highlights were the dry aged rib eye and the lobster tail. It was a feast worthy of a king. I will most certainly be back to steak 48 to celebrate life's next milestone with my wonderful wife. We did self-parking for our first visit but I think I will use the VIP red carpet valet service at our next visit. Sometimes it's worth indulging to reward yourself for hard work. Highly recommend steak 48!
