Was going to go for a special occasion lunch to Monarch next door. Monarch doesn't take reservations but we figured we would try our luck. 6 people line out the door there. No thanks! Especially when the hostess at Pacifica had no line and the patio is gorgeous. Plus they have lunch specials which Monarch didn't seem to have - so you can get their Sugar-Spiced Salmon entree at lunchtime for only $20 - with that gorgeous ocean view! Our server was extremely nice, and we got a shaded table right at the glass looking out at the ocean. I decided to get a "brunch" dish - sugar spiced salmon hash with poached eggs, potatoes and fennel. It was a little heavy but very delicious. The salmon was perfectly grilled. And $20 at a posh restaurant like this looking out at the ocean was A-Ok with me. It's easy to sleep on Pacifica cuz it's been here so long and is not the next-new thing - but it's a great patio with great food and they're super nice! For appetizers, I recommend starting with the poke nachos. For drinks, I loved both the spicy watermelon margarita and the watermelon martini. We arrived a little before our reservation and yet we're promptly seated at the most beautiful small table with spectacular ocean views. Minutes later during a sorbet- colored sunset, we were served our drinks and toasted while watching whales breech off in the distance. Our server Lindsey was amazing, super friendly, accommodating, gave great recommendations, and was super swift with refilling drinks, bringing sides, and in general was very attentive! We enjoyed fresh oysters, a lemongrass infused shrimp cocktail, spicy Fra Divola shrimp linguine pasta, roasted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, and for dessert, Keylime pie and chocolate lava cake. I've been to Pacifica many times, especially pre-COVID and have always enjoyed their happy hour options. This visit, though, was extra special because we came for Restaurant Week lunch and were treated to the full menu. I was thrilled to see their Mulligatawny soup included. I love the flavor, and the portion size was generous enough that one serving left me completely satisfied. From the moment my mom and I were seated by the hostess, Lily, I knew it was going to be a fun and memorable day. She was incredibly kind and accommodating with our seating request and placed us on the patio with the perfect ocean view. Absolutely beautiful. Our waitress, Isela, was equally wonderful. She was friendly, professional, and very attentive, especially when my mom needed some menu modifications due to dietary restrictions. Isela made sure everything could be adjusted, which made my mom feel truly taken care of. My mom ordered the salmon and said it was cooked perfectly. Thank you, Isela, for being so warm and hospitable. Daniel also deserves a shout-out. He was constantly checking on us, refilling water, clearing plates, and keeping our table neat without ever being intrusive. The entire staff worked seamlessly together. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS wonderful brunch spot with an amazing view of the ocean. I reserved using Open Table. They have a very nice brunch on Sundays. Our reservation was for 5 and then 3 others in our group decided that they wanted to participate. I couldn't change the reservation on open table so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone was super understanding and added to our reservation and made it 8. Fast forward to the day of brunch and 2 people could not make it, so the manager was very kind enough to change our seating to fit 6. OUR TABLE WAS IN THE PERFECT SPOT! The view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND EVERYTHING! Our server was Gabby, and she was amazing. She has these really cute earrings and she took great care of us. Her customer service was FIRST CLASS! Our party is used to bottomless mimosas and they do not have that here so we were able to ask the chef for two bottles of prosecco and sides of mimosa juices, a la carte. This worked out very well as we were able to pour how we wanted and not bother the staff for refills. The FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The Chef definitely is top tier. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We ordered: FOR THE TABLE: Brussels Sprouts in a honey glaze sauce with feta -FREAKING DELICIOUS! I have been fairly disappointed by most of the restaurants here at this plaza. The bulk of them seem to rely on location and the view over having good food to lure in diners. But, Pacifica Del Mar bucked that trend and served up some pretty impressive cuisine. On a date night with my beloved wife, wanting to eat somewhere in Del Mar, I opted for seafood by the beach. The wait was very short and we had a lovely spot next to the main window overlooking the water at sunset. Our waiter was polite and attentive, while only occasionally pushing the limits of our patience with overreach. All-in-all, a pleasant start to our dinner. I had the Sea Scallops. They were of good size, seared very well, and served in a delicious soubise that was easily enjoyed with every bite of fish and those soft clamshell mushrooms. While not the best scallops I've ever had, they certainly were a well done rendition of the dish. My wife opted for the 7oz Filet Mignon. Normally she isn't one to eat her steak coated in a sauce, but the Demi-Glace they poured on top was surprisingly good. And this is coming from someone who isn't overly fond of brown sauces. She switched out the potatoes for roasted asparagus, alongside her broccolini, and enjoyed all that she ate. The real star of the night, however, was our side of Crispy Brussels Sprouts. Coated in honey and served with Feta Cheese after roasting, they were phenomenal and have become a recipe we have tried recreating at home multiple times ever since. While everything else was better than average, these stood out as a five star dish. In the end, a very enjoyable evening with outstanding company and good food. Pacifica Del Mar is a bit out of the way to make it a regular stop, but it certainly is worth coming back for on an intimate occasion. read more

I have been here several times. It's a beautiful location and a great setting. And that's mostly what you're paying for, because to me the food doesn't get a lot better than average here. My last visit was for a Mother's Day brunch, at the cost of $59 per person. For that price, you got your choice of champagne, mimosa, bloody Mary, or coffee then you got your choice of a starter and main dish. No dessert was included . I heard the burger, which was served with two patties and was pretty generous was pretty good. I had the fish stew which had an ample portion of shrimp, pieces of whole fish, and mussels and clams, +2 slices of butter toast. The whole thing was decent, but I can't say a whole lot more than that as a starter. I had the short rib French onion soup. It was served more like a classic soup in a wide bowl than a true French onion soup, there was only a cheesy crouton on top but no serious melted Gruyere or other Swiss type cheese that would've made it a better dish. Lots of beef flavor and good shredded portion of meat in the dish but overall the flavor was not that impressive. Service was prompt but regular nothing out of the ordinary For $59 brunch, I just didn't feel the value was there for the quality of food. My choice on a future occasion would be to skip this place. It is consistent, but it's just not that good for the dollar value. The setting is great and that's really what you're paying for. since my last visit and last review, I think the quality has declined and maybe the place is just resting on its laurels too much. read more

It's been a while since my last visit to Pacifica, and I'm happy to say this return did not disappoint! We had such a lovely dinner -- the local yellowtail was delicious, my pan-roasted Alaskan halibut was cooked to absolute perfection, and the steamed mussels were just as flawless. The oysters were fresh and satisfying -- the perfect start to our meal. If I had to note one small hiccup, it would be that our server initially seemed more focused on how much we were planning to order than on making us feel welcome. That said, once she saw we were ordering quite a bit of food, her warmth definitely kicked in, and the rest of the evening was great. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and our time at Pacifica. It's definitely worth a visit if you're craving great seafood and a beautiful dining atmosphere! Anniversary dinner meant Pacifica Del Mar! This spot has turned into one of my go to spots for lunch or dinner lately. We love getting to walk the beach in Del Mar and see how the dogs running around at dog beach. We ended up at Pacifica after for dinner to enjoy the beautiful sunset. A little bit about the background: Was putting on a party for my wife's birthday for about 30+ people. Initially, I was going to have the event at the Italian restaurant (remained un named) that is also in the Del Mar plaza. The weather was turning out to become an issue and the Italian restaurant represented was trying to sell us on moving the party to a shoe box. We ultimately cancelled. I walk over to Pacifica and the Manager Eli was so cooperative and open to our business that the stress from my previous encounter left me within minutes. When we arrived they provided us with the most amazing server and staff that everything went without a hitch. I had attendees come up and comment how great the venue and staff was. It's actually nice to be somewhere where you feel the business is appreciated. I should also say the food was great and I'm looking forward to going back. It had been sometime since I visited Pacifica so if you're are like me make a return visit. You might be pleasantly surprised. read more

This place was fantastic! None of us had been. 3 of us are from SD (1 near Del Mar) and 2 from NorCal. Our NorCal friends asked to do dinner with a view of the ocean. I googled best restaurants in Del Mar w/a view & this was on more than one list. The view from the upstairs outdoor area was amazing and the food was delicious! 3 of us had the steak frites w/an Asian flair in the sauce & chimichuri. We all ate every bite. Portion size was perfect, which explains the lower price point. 2 of us had different fish dishes. The mushroom risotto that came with one was so good I would have ordered it as a meal. The cocktails were fun and creative, not your every day run of the mill and the wine list was well rounded. Even had Conundrum (white) which is rare to find at restaurants these days. The mango sorbet was the perfect amount of sweetness and so silky, not icy at all. The service was very attentive throughout and we never felt rushed. They were kind enough to let us have our pick of tables and even took group photos for us with the beautiful sunset and ocean view backdrop behind us. Parking is easy as this restaurant is in the plaza so that is an added bonus. We had a great time and will definitely be back again. read more

We visited Pacifica Del Mar recently for Sunday Brunch. Reservations were easy via Open Table however there is no distinguishing between inside or outside. Unfortunately their entire outdoor view dining area was closed off for some wedding party happening later. We drove literally an hour for this experience and were sat at a table inside, in a corner surrounded by walls. The restaurant and all the linens were stunning I will say. We did wind up electing to sit at one of their small exterior tables immediately adjacent to their main entrance. While we had some sort of view, that experience was rather undignified as hordes of passers by traipse along through the plaza breezeway, inches from our table. Despite these disappointments, the food was excellent! I ordered the Corned Beef Hash which was rather unorthodox but delicious. The menu did call out poached eggs and I received over-easy sadly. The waiter did comp my drinks which was nice but was hoping for poached. My wife's poached eggs perched atop her Benedict were perfectly cooked with creamy yolks and properly set whites. I look forward to visiting again soon for dinner. I might call ahead first to make sure I can get a decent table. read more

Items on the Bar Menu are discounted $2-$6 during Happy Hour. Don't order the burger - the bun consisted of plain pieces of bread - not very sanitary. My friend's wine had a bug and stains on the cup.
