Date night perfection at @pacificadelmar Del Mar From the butternut squash ravioli with poached lobster to the salmon over green beans, crispy calamari, and flavorful crab cakes--every bite was a win. Paired with a beautiful bottle of wine and finished strong with key lime pie and peanut butter pie A must for a special night out. Love the service it is soo amazing and love the atmosphere.

Usually enjoy this place for its location and casual dining. Girl at counter was great. However, wait over 30 minutes for a bowl of fruit and Açaí bowl that we had to ask about seems like an issue with communication. When food came out, seems pretty rushed in putting together.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant and finally made it to Del Mar. Food & drinks were delicious. We had the halibut plate & glazed salmon plates. For appetizers we enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Poke. Portion sizes were good. The atmosphere and view from the restaurant is so awesome. Before dark you can see the ocean. Make a reservation they get busy. We happened to stop here during Restaurant Week. Good specials. I wasn't crazy about the Cesar salad. But everything else was so good. If you're looking for fresh seafood, you have to try this restaurant it's so good.

We had the place to ourselves on a Saturday for brunch. It was sort of sad to see because Monarch next door was packed. We were seated out on their covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our waitress was good though we did have to track her down a few times. The food was hit or miss. I thought the salmon hash was mediocre and the portion was on the small side. The Banana Foster French toast was good and was a huge portion.

We came here during restaurant week and were excited to try something new. The restaurant week menu was a great deal and gave us a chance to try something a variety of items. The salmon was fantastic! Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Another item we ordered was the Halibut. The sauce had a little kick to it and came on a bed of rice and bok choy. For appetizers, I recommend starting with the poke nachos. For drinks, I loved both the spicy watermelon margarita and the watermelon martini. Try getting a reservation during sunset because you'll have a great view how of the ocean!

We arrived a little before our reservation and yet we're promptly seated at the most beautiful small table with spectacular ocean views. Minutes later during a sorbet- colored sunset, we were served our drinks and toasted while watching whales breech off in the distance. Our server Lindsey was amazing, super friendly, accommodating, gave great recommendations, and was super swift with refilling drinks, bringing sides, and in general was very attentive! We enjoyed fresh oysters, a lemongrass infused shrimp cocktail, spicy Fra Divola shrimp linguine pasta, roasted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, and for dessert, Keylime pie and chocolate lava cake. Everything was spectacular! Next time we are in Del Mar, we will definitely return! ** parking was the only issue, we had to circle around quite a few different lots within a five minute walk to finally find a parking spot.

Very decent spot. The food is consistently good. With the Poke nachos being a clear standout, after being jaded from a nearby experience with Poke this was much better and good quality fish. Every dish we got was tasty and flavorful. The service is pretty swift, kind and professional. If you sit outside there are nice views of the water in the distance.

I've been to Pacifica many times, especially pre-COVID and have always enjoyed their happy hour options. This visit, though, was extra special because we came for Restaurant Week lunch and were treated to the full menu. I was thrilled to see their Mulligatawny soup included. I love the flavor, and the portion size was generous enough that one serving left me completely satisfied. From the moment my mom and I were seated by the hostess, Lily, I knew it was going to be a fun and memorable day. She was incredibly kind and accommodating with our seating request and placed us on the patio with the perfect ocean view. Absolutely beautiful. Our waitress, Isela, was equally wonderful. She was friendly, professional, and very attentive, especially when my mom needed some menu modifications due to dietary restrictions. Isela made sure everything could be adjusted, which made my mom feel truly taken care of. My mom ordered the salmon and said it was cooked perfectly. Thank you, Isela, for being so warm and hospitable. Daniel also deserves a shout-out. He was constantly checking on us, refilling water, clearing plates, and keeping our table neat without ever being intrusive. The entire staff worked seamlessly together. Overall, fantastic food, great service, and an unbeatable view. I highly recommend Pacifica for happy hour, Restaurant Week, or a relaxing night out by the ocean

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS wonderful brunch spot with an amazing view of the ocean. I reserved using Open Table. They have a very nice brunch on Sundays. Our reservation was for 5 and then 3 others in our group decided that they wanted to participate. I couldn't change the reservation on open table so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone was super understanding and added to our reservation and made it 8. Fast forward to the day of brunch and 2 people could not make it, so the manager was very kind enough to change our seating to fit 6. OUR TABLE WAS IN THE PERFECT SPOT! The view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND EVERYTHING! Our server was Gabby, and she was amazing. She has these really cute earrings and she took great care of us. Her customer service was FIRST CLASS! Our party is used to bottomless mimosas and they do not have that here so we were able to ask the chef for two bottles of prosecco and sides of mimosa juices, a la carte. This worked out very well as we were able to pour how we wanted and not bother the staff for refills. The FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The Chef definitely is top tier. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We ordered: FOR THE TABLE: Brussels Sprouts in a honey glaze sauce with feta -FREAKING DELICIOUS! MEALS: Short Rib Hash over potatoes with a fried egg on top, Chicken Fries Steak Benedict (best meal ever), American Breakfast, and a Traditional Hash. One of our ladies was not hungry after the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaurant for brunch. There is also a Pacifica Café below with a nice view and patio seating. This is probably my new fave brunch spot. Gabby was wonderful, the manager was super customer service oriented, and the whole staff was First Class!

Food is delicious! Service is expeditious and friendly. The restaurant is nice. The location of the restaurant is close to the beach with many shops around it. I've been here a few times already and will be back!

Came for Restaurant Week SD. I didn't know what to expect and was so in Awe on the view overlooking the water if Del Mar beach. We ordered the special menu for SDRW, Sweet Salmon, mixed Greens and Chardonnay the food was delicious, properly cooked and freshly prepared. Staff were friendly, prompt serving, and spacious. I will recommend to my friends.

If you are looking for the perfect date night spot that not only serves the freshest seafood and craft cocktails , but that also has incredible service and a view that will blow your mind, Pacifica Del Mar must be added to your list! They have it all, plus some, and the views from their rooftop during sunset hour is just the cherry on top! Everything we ate was so fresh and super delicious from the spicy ahi poke, to the flakey halibut and perfectly seared scallops, to the peanut butter cheesecake... just WOW! We ordered: Grapefruit Martini (on the rocks) Crispy Calamari Poke Bowl Alaskan Halibut Scallops Old Fashion Peanut Butter Cheese Cake Lava Cake Follow @allthingsfoodinsandiego for more must try San Diego restaurants, date night ideas, food experiences, kid friendly spots, with a sprinkling of home-cooking!

Had a wonderful time at Pacifica Del Mar today. There's nothing like enjoying delicious fish tacos and a blackberry mimosa while looking out at the water. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. Highly recommend if you're in Del Mar!"

Ask the Community - Pacifica Del Mar

Allow dogs for outside seating?

Hi Andrew, our bar patio is dog friendly!

Do they still have happy hour?

Yes they do, at least M-Th and I believe it goes until 6:30pm. We went on a Wednesday a few weeks ago

Do they offer outside seating?

Typically , yes! Not sure now due to COVID restrictions.

How much does someone spend here if it's for 2 people?

Right now, nothing, and we hope they re-open and succeed as soon as COVID is under control.

What are the hours of happy hour?

Everyday 4-6:30; All night Sunday & Monday

Do they still offer the early bird menu?

Hello, yes we are currently offering a new 3 for $30 tasting menu in celebration of our 30 year anniversary for our early bird menu. It is on our website if you'd like to preview it.

This restaurant showed up on a list for vegan options. Where are the vegan options? ...I do not see anything on the menu that specifies this

I wasn't looking for vegan options but if they have some, they are few. It's primarily a seafood restaurant.

Thank you Sanjiv for your invite. We will surely stop by next time we are in town. We appreciate you for commenting on our review. When is the best time to come in for Shrimp? Or is that all year round?

All year round!

I like my work immensely, but also need to recharge too. My motto in life is, "work hard, play harder, you only got this one life, make it count." I asked chatGPT to find me a place in Del Mar that has sick ocean views and no matter how I asked chatGPT this question, Jake's kept popping up as number one. I needed some lunch so came in here after 3pm, and it was closer to happy hour. As soon as you walk in, you just see the ocean and it just calms you. I sat down at the bar and it wasnt too busy but with a few people. This place is for grown ups, so act like one. It had a laid back, ocean vibe so very relaxed for sure. Bartender very professional, and very courteous. Poured me a blonde to get started and gave me time to chose my food. There is happy hour here but not too many selections. Today, it was choices of some of flatbreads and a salad and I wasnt interested. Happy hour only Mon - Wed anyways. I wasnt terribly hungry so ordered the ceviche. I love fish, doesn't matter how you make it, as long as its good, I will like it. Ceviche was spot on fresh and yummy and appreciate a bit of avocado added. It was the perfect snack, while watching the ocean view and washing it all down with an ice cold blonde. A perfect gown up way to spend the afternoon celebrating life and how gorgeous Mother Nature is. There is valet parking here which is $8 and peak times $10. I was able to find free 2 hour parking on the street though. Bathroom was clean and everything about this place would bring me back in again. I cant wait to show off this place to friends and family when they come visit me!

I also was asking about wine and I appreciated our server's very honest opinions on the wine. He helped us select a wine that we all really enjoyed. Mussels: 7/10. I don't get mussels often but these were delicious. There were some mussels I was a little skeptical of eating because they weren't super opened up. I really enjoyed the broth on this one. The broth is excellent with some bread. Brussels sprouts: 7/10. Good but nothing special. Ahi tostada: 8/10. I really enjoyed this but it's not super big. Ahi sashimi: 9/10. Light and delicious. The yuzu shoyu is really good on the ahi. Ceviche: 7/10. Good but nothing super stand out. Lemon garlic roasted fish: 7/10. This is light and delicious. I think the squid ink vinaigrette is kind of cool, and it gives the dish another layer of complexity that I appreciate. Hula pie: 8/10. Only a few places do a hula pie, so whenever I see it, I know we have to get it. It's delicious as always. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing because at least it means it doesn't melt fast, but it was pretty frozen, so we needed to ask for a knife to cut into it so we could all share it. It's impossible without a knife unless you wait for it to melt. The views are phenomenal here for most of the places you can sit in the restaurant. There are windows everywhere for you to see the beautiful ocean. I think the view is a huge part of why this place is successful. Jake's only has valet parking, but there is also limited free parking along the streets.

There was a lot of seating available so we were seated immediately. The restaurant also takes reservations, and the waiter told us that it does tend to get busier during dinnertime. They have happy hour every day from 3-6pm. Their lunch and dinner menus are different. Ambience was chill and had beach vibes; diners were dressed in nice casual attire (matching the beach vibes). Our waiter, Francisco, was fantastic. He was very friendly and attentive and gave multiple detailed recs and thoughts on all parts of the menu, which were way more recs than I've ever received at another restaurant. His personal favorite was the Seaside sandwich, which naturally we ordered, along with a side of salad. It was really good! The fish was very crispy on the outside and very flaky, soft, and flavorful on the inside. The rest of the burger/sandwich was also very flavorful. It has habanero honey mustard, which is supposed to give it some kick but I didn't notice anything spiciness (I have moderate spice tolerance?). The side of house salad was a good standard salad. We also shared the crispy chicken sandwich. It was indeed very crispy, but we both thought it was too greasy and not as flavorful as the Seaside sandwich. It came with a side of French fries, which tasted great; they were also freshly fried, crispy, and seasoned with Italian herbs. Would love to come back to try their happy hour menu! Also they have a small parking garage located underneath their building. There is some street parking available. We didn't have any issues finding parking. Granted, this was Thanksgiving weekend.

Which is what brought us to Beeside Balcony in Del Mar during the 1st SDRW of 2026. We had Saturday night reservations & got into town early with some time to kill. We found nearby street parking fairly easily. The hostess was able to quickly accommodate us with a table despite our early arrival. Indoor dining space is minimal. But as an upstairs restaurant with "Balcony" literally in its name, the outdoor patio is where you want to be. Our server was a inconsistent on attentiveness & was slow to warm up, though she was quite personable later in the meal. Along with all of the al fresco charm dining on the balcony offered, there was also a curious & less desirable element of the ambiance. During our meal, someone went around shooting pics/ videos for social media. It felt distracting & intrusive. While the SDRW menu was what brought us here, we opted for the Chef's menu after looking over all the options. I ordered the Salmon Croquette/ Denver Steak/ Churros. She ordered Cioppino Soup/ Barramundi/ S'More Cake. Although the pacing of our courses from the kitchen was uneven, most of what we had was good to great to wonderful. Sharing tastes of our dishes with each other, the 1 egregious miss for me was the Cioppino Soup. The seafood in it was good. But that broth was not. Aside from that, the Salmon Croquette & the Barramundi were delicious. The Denver Steak was a revelation. I'd never heard of this cut before, so I looked it up. Truly, a bang for the buck all star. & prepared perfectly here with a fantastic chimichurri. For our desserts, my Churros were good but not anything to get particularly excited about. Now, on the other hand, that S'More Cake? Wow. insanely indulgent with an ooey-gooey center. I honestly can't think of a better way to end a meal. Overall, the ambiance, service, & food all had highs & lows. Collectively, though, the sum total of the experience was pleasant enough that I would be interested in coming back. My threshold for 4 stars is if I'd come back. So, 4 stars it is.

They only have Valet at this restaurant, so if you come on a busy day and don't want to valet, you may be stuck trying to find beach street parking across the street... and let me tell you... at 12:30pm, it's next to impossible without a hefty wait, driving around unless you have some luck! We opted to Valet, and it was only $10. The valet was very nice and welcoming! Super quick. We entered the building and immediately saw the view. The hostesses welcomed us and asked if we had reservations. We didnt, and she said they are full at the moment but we can have a seat anywhere in the bar area. There were MANY open tables along with the bar seating. We opted for the 4-top on the far right side next to the fireplace. It was a half booth with 2 chairs. From here, we had a great view of the Del Mar Race tracks AND the lagoon to our right. I noticed they have a wrap around patio that has a small wrap-around shelf like table so that you can place your drink or food on. I can imagine the outside gets packed...but at 12:30pm on a Saturday, it actually was pretty open! We waited a bit and were greeted by our server who gave us the bar menu and regular lunch menu. When he came back, we ordered an IPA and a 9oz. Seaglass Riesling along with the half dozen oysters and 3 baked oysters. Our drinks quickly came out, and shortly after that, our oysters. The oysters were WONDERFUL. They came with lemon and a condiment cup of cocktail sauce with a dab of horseradish in the middle. Honestly? Thats all you needed. They were fresh and so tasty. The baked oysters were good. I preferred the chilled but my boyfriend really liked both. When our server came back, we ordered our entrees. I ordered the signature grilled marinated swordfish and my boyfriend got the lobster tempura tacos. Food took a bit of time...but with that view? You really dont mind. Once it all came out, we saw they were nicely plated. The flavor of BOTH dishes were great. The ONLY thing I noticed was the cook on my swordfish as it was dry BUT since it had an herbed butter on top...it definitely helped save the dish. We both finished our whole plate haha our server brought the dessert menu, and we chose the Brig Mud Pie. It was a SOLID way to end our meal. It could easily feed 4 people sharing...but since we have a sweet tooth, we finished it. I 100% recommend checking this spot out. Their views are gorgeous and the food is good. Again, keep in mind the parking and if you have a specific area you want to sit, make sure to make a reservation. Other than that, enjoy!

The lack of cleanliness was immediately noticeable--from how staff moved between tasks to the overall condition of the workspace. For a food establishment, the absence of basic hygiene awareness was deeply concerning and hard to ignore as a customer sitting there watching it unfold. The attitude of the staff made the situation worse. There was a consistent tone of irritation, impatience, and indifference toward customers. Simple interactions felt unwelcome. No courtesy, no attentiveness, no effort to create a respectful or pleasant environment. It gave the impression that standards--both for service and conduct--are simply not enforced. Unfortunately, the food reflected the same lack of care. It was excessively greasy, heavy, and unpleasant, with a taste that raised real concerns about preparation quality. I couldn't finish my meal, and I left feeling uneasy rather than satisfied. What stood out most was the overall feeling that cleanliness, professionalism, and customer experience are not priorities here. When a restaurant shows this level of disregard in both service and food handling, it completely undermines trust. This is not a place I would return to or recommend. There are far better options for anyone who expects basic hygiene, respectful service, and food prepared with care.
