We were warmly greeted by smiling faces at entry & given freedom to select our desired table in bar to begin happy hour ordering. Our waitress, Julie, was great & attentive! The cocktails were satisfying & strong--in the right way--absolutely enjoyed it! Order a Spicy Margarita! The happy hour menu items came out hot & appealing! I use to regularly visit this establishment and thoroughly enjoyed it. As of recent, the last two visits have been highly offensive. The staff are arrogant, and do not have a mindset to cater to their customers. We even had staff bad mouth us as paying customers to other staff within ear shot and making it very apparent they were talking about us. When we sat down at the open seating, we weren't acknowledged so we went to the bar to order drinks and the waitress got mad at us for not ordering from her and verbally told us that and then the rest of the service from there was horrible because we ordered from the bar when she didn't do her job. She then ignored us and served other people before us who were seated after us. We will never dine here again. For how amazing the location is and how much potential they could have it's very disappointing to experience this. It's no surprise Monarch across the way has a 2 hour wait and you can walk in to Pacifica. Management should really evaluate and train their staff properly. read more

View was amazing, located right in the middle of town in a restaurant hub. I had made a Tuesday, 7:30 dinner reservations for 2 on TOCK, requesting a window seat with a view along with letting them know we were celebrating an Anniversary. We did not use the parking garage, we found street parking. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated at a table with a view. It took a while for our sever to acknowledge us sitting there, finally he came over and introduced himself: Kaleb. We ordered cocktails while deciding on what to order. We order a 1/2 dozen Oysters on the half shell, the Mixed Greens Salad, Steamed Mussels and Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut. The Oysters were excellent along with the Halibut. Salad was good, Mussels were big and fresh but the broth was very blah, not much taste. Our server Kaleb was OK, not the friendliest, very disinterested as I took not the other servers very energetic with customers celebration Birthday well wishes. So all in all an OK meal with OK service. BUT to note Management Customer service was excellent! Not a great experience here. The view, ambiance and service is wonderful, but food disappointing. I ordered the Thai Chicken Bowl with double mango. The mango was completely unripe - rock hard with no flavor at all. I don't normally send food back, but that was really not acceptable. Server was very apologetic and offered to bring me something else. Next I had the smoked salmon Benedict, which was a tad slimy in texture with "eh" hollandaise sauce. 10/10 meal 10/10 service! Glasses were always full and never had to ask for anything, the waiting staff was always one step ahead and personally this is what sets a meal over the top for me. The food was absolutely divine and bursting with flavor, and also came out very quick. We had a half dozen of oysters (they come in every other day and had come in that morning) - so fresh and delicious. We also had the ahi poke nachos, the halibut with a green curry (best dish of the night), and the shrimp and lobster pasta. Sending my highest compliments to the chef for the fantastic halibut and salmon dishes. While the bok choy was overcooked and soggy, the halibut, sticky rice, and curry sauce that they were served on top of were unbelievably delicious. The sourdough was fresh, perfectly crisp and crunchy crust with a soft and chewy center. I also loved the Mulligatawny soup, though I did find it a tad heavy on the salt and not super forward on the curry flavor. My one complaint was the excessively slow speed of service. Twenty years ago, I dinned at this restaurant. Somethings get better with age and this restaurant's food and service definitely have! Beautiful views of the Pacific ocean, watching the sun set and having one of the best servers, Coop, made our family celebration even more memorable. Coop made excellent recommendations, brought positive vibes and joy to our evening. Everyone of our party of 6 was absolutely pleased with their food, drinks and experience. We started with warm olive sourdough bread with butter, which was served hot and hit all the perfect notes of comforts. The fried calamari was a salty and perhaps the least of our choices; nothing ordinary and I would suggest making another choice. The the exquisit yellowtail crudo was served in an aguachile salsa, pickleed red onions, avocado, tortilla disks and chilli oil. fresh and absolutely. The poached lemongrass shrimp was perfectly prepared but lacked the lemongrass flavor I was anticipating to exprience. The pan roasted alaskan halibut with a soy glaze served with sticky rice, green curry coconut sauce was heavenly; velvety, creamy, exotic and absolutely delicious. The catch of the day was opah which had a panko crust, served with mushroom risotto pea puree and pickled mushrooms was perhaps the favorite order at the table. A close second was the filet mignon. Perfectly prepared and seasoned, served on top of sunchoke puree with roasted fingerling potatoes, broccolini and pink peppercorn chimichurri, this dish was a home run! The soy yuzy glaze special was not as spectacular as the filet, but the sauce made this dish outstanding. For drinks we had several rounds of the French Kiss! Even the men at our table loved this pink drink. Vodka with raspberry martini was perfetly sweet, tart, and refreshing. We ended our evening with an espresso martini which hit all the right notes. Wow, what a great place in Del Mar! Made a last minute reservation on a Monday, and got in just fine. The view from the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean is just incredible. But, if you don't want to be in the full sun, they have inside dining as well, still with nice views. My wife and I tried the halibut, the clam chowder, and the shrimp appetizer, all of which were just outstanding! We ordered the Hamachi Crudo as an appetizer and, let me tell you, I could eat my weight in that stuff. SO DELICIOUS!! We finished our meal off with the key lime tart and banana browned custard. Pacifica has been around for a long time and it's because they know how to make good seafood. I really enjoyed the halibut and the crudo, and their other non-seafood dishes were good too like the spinach salad and their Pacifica Burned Cream dessert (this one is a MUST TRY!). Had reservations for an important night of celebration, however the parking garage was sooo full and no way to find a spot, but the worst thing is that the parking garage is sooo full tight and packed in you will damage your car trying to get in and out. The view is amazing. That's where it ends. We had the brussel sprouts and mussels as an app. The brussel sprouts weren't cut thinly enough to get crispy and barely had honey or truffle flavor. They sent us the Spanish seafood stew by mistake and unfortunately it was horrible. All the seafood in the stew was overcooked. I had the halibut as an entree. The sauce was really delicious but the fish was so overcooked it was like cat food. They re-made it but it was overcooked again. Last weekend, I came for lunch with a friend. It was her first time and she loved it as much as I do. We ordered 2 spicy Margarita Olive Sourdough Mussels Squash soup Grapefruit martini As usual, everything was incredible! I love those Mussels with the French baguette so much that I could eat them every day. Those breads they bake are so yummy! This is definitely my favorite comfort food spot. Went here for Sunday brunch with a group of friends and the experience was extremely disappointing! Location had beautiful ocean views & we ate on the patio. That's where the compliments end. Food & service was mediocre @ best. Ordered eggs Benedict & the food arrived ice cold, the English muffin wasn't toasted, eggs were HARD BOILED, Canadian bacon was like leather & there was virtually NO hollandaise on the plate! They also smothered the eggs with arugula! Never had green foliage served on top of a Benedict! It was the worst eggs Benedict I've ever eaten! Server was young, inexperienced & had no attention to detail. Dirty plates & glasses stacked up on the table. No checking back after food arrived. Constantly had to hunt her down to get her attention. She couldn't answer any questions about the seafood items on the menu & actually said, "I don't like or eat seafood, sorry!" She's working in a place that features SEAFOOD! Poor training, bad management!! A few of us also had cocktails & we all agreed there was barely a hint of alcohol in any of them! And trust me, this group would know!! With the price of restaurant food trending higher & higher, this entire experience was unacceptable! Too many other choices!! Elegant, elevated dining, which of course means higher prices. They have steaks, seafood, various appetizers, desserts, etc. The views are beautiful and the ambiance is sophisticated. The service is efficient and friendly. The Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut is tender and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the sticky rice and I enjoyed the savory sauce it has. They have specials which at the time that we dined included t-bone steak, which was tasty and cooked just right at "medium". Other dishes the family recommends is the Salmon and the Filet Mignon. I wanted to try their brussel sprouts, but they were out during our dining experience. But their garlic spinach was delicious--tender, savory and with lots of garlic. The garlic mashed potatoes were good, but to be honest, isn't the best I've had--another version from another restaurant stick out in my mind as being more delicious. For dessert, if your sweet tooth is powerful, I recommend the "Mocha Semifreddo"--it is most definitely sweet, creamy and rich. The item I don't recommend is their bread appetizer. It was too hard and risky for the teeth. LOL! I prefer soft bread--maybe that's not how big spenders like it? LOL!! But anyway,I'd skip that. read more

They have great deals on all the food and drinks, portions are pretty large for items like the pasta and salmon burger. The Vegetable Thai Curry was a scrumptious main entre. Don't expect it to fill you up much, but every bit of it was fantastic. Great taste, the curry sauce was thin, which gave the dish a well-balanced feel. The Calamari was a good small plate (appetizer), not too different from Calamari at any restaurant. We've gone here for happy hour for years, but after last night's experience, I don't think we're going back anytime soon. The happy hour menu is now fairly limited, pricey, and not as good of a deal. First, the food. Two of us had chicken sliders. They were terrible! Tough to chew, and not tasty at all. Second, the service. Our waitress disappeared after serving the food. She never asked if everything was ok. But, she missed a chance to get us another round of drinks. After waiting with empty glasses for too long, we then tried to find someone for the bill. Again, after finding another server, we finally got to pay and leave. (We decided to meet at my place for drinks instead of waiting more.) The last straw was that we were now over an hour (by four minutes, likely the time we waited in vain for our second drink) and thus got charged for parking. read more

Beyond impressed by our experience at Pacifica Del Mar - I only wish I found out about them sooner! - PARKING - There's a parking structure directly connected to the Del Mar Plaza, which makes it easy for you to walk to and from your car quickly. I believed we paid $3.00/hr - not sure if some of the businesses validate parking or not, but we forgot to ask! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Pretty large area, with seating arrangements inside and outside - many will say the view is a huge part of Pacifica's appeal, and I would agree! The sun was setting when we came for an early dinner, and it was gorgeous! We were lucky to snag a table outside right at the edge too. Service was absolutely amazing from start to finish, super attentive and great attitudes all around! Once we ordered, our dishes came out fairly quick and in good cadence with courses. - FOOD - Salmon Belly Sashimi ($20.00): I'm a Salmon Belly girl, and so when I say this ended up not being my favorite out of the dinner items we had, that's when you know Pacifica has a lot to offer!!! The Salmon was nice and buttery, but I think it was a bit too lime-y to enjoy fully. Warm Olive Sourdough 1/4 Loaf ($3.00): 100% get this!!! It's only $3 but it will definitely elevate your dining experience, especially if you have anything sauce-y to dip in later on! The crust is amazing, and the inside of the loaf is so soft! The butter was delicious too! Steamed Mussels ($20.00): WOW these were absolutely amazing! This was just the start of being impressed, with the Mussels being cooked perfectly, and not a single one tasted ocean-y. The Red Curry Coconut Broth was delicious as well - the server kindly recommended we dip our Sourdough Bread in the sauce and it was amazing! Seared Diver Scallops ($41.00): These may have been the best cooked scallops I've ever had! At least one of the three we got was the epitome of a perfect scallop - the sear was great, but the inside was still soft! The second scallop was just slightly cooked longer but still very soft, and the third was similar to other scallops we've had in the past, where it's still delicious but had a chew. But that first scallop was enough to blow us away as we've never had one as good as that! Grilled 7oz Filet Mignon ($53.00): This was definitely the best Filet Mignon I've had. Super tender, great flavor, great sear. The accompanying Broccolini and Fingerling Potatoes were amazing as well. Pacifica's Burnt Cream (Creme Brulee - $9.00): We wanted to smack the top of the Cream to get the crack, but it fell short of our expectations by landing softly. However we were pleasantly surprised when we ate it, it definitely had some crunchy caramel bits! Very delicious!!! Key Lime Tart ($10.00): I think the crust was a bit drier than we wanted, but the lime custard was very good and had a nice tart level! - OVERALL - 10000% coming back to try out more of their menu items, as well as revisit the Sourdough Loaf, Mussels, and Scallops for sure! read more
