Our waiter learned it was our first visit to the eatery, and recommended we try their "off-the-menu" tasting menu. "2 dishes per person," he promised--we were game. He mentioned they'd course the dishes out, 2 at a time, ensuring each of the dishes were paired intentionally. Beet Salad From someone who's not easily impressed with vegetable-led dishes, this was delicious. This dish was visually vibrant, and the flavor mirrored that vibrancy. The beets themselves were stunningly soft, even juicy I'd say. It's root-y flavor was ever-present, but it never became unwelcome on the dish. "Fragrant" is another word we all used to describe the plate, with the fresh mint and succulent citrus fruit widening each our eyes. Sweet, savory, fresh and...creamy. This salad sat on top of a delightful carrot labneh, which provided a creamy element further elevating the dish. It brought a bit of tang to the salad that I appreciated. Finally, there was a crunchy detail (which we know I love) from intelligently included pieces of pastelli--a Greek treat made from sesame seeds and honey, and that sweet crunch fostered the table's excitement. Trust was firing on cylinders early, strong start. Hamachi Crudo Insane. I'm a big fan of the amount of flavor that's packed in such a delicate dish. Off rip, you're met with a visually exciting dish. Red, green, and purple from the thinly sliced pepper, cucumber, and radish pop right off the dish. Bright colors and exquisite execution, placed in a circle to match the shape of the dish, had each of us salivating. With the first taste, the crisp bite of fresh cucumber catches your senses immediately, and then subtly spicy, cream sauce. It was aguachile blanco--my first time having the blanco variant. The flavor was stupid, I struggled to describe it's uniqueness. The Mexican flavor profile was proliferated by fresh cilantro and thinly sliced radish, followed with a textured salsa seca. The light nature of the dish paired pristinely with the beet salad. Now, these next two dishes were an exciting 1-2 punch in showing you exactly what Chef is all about--that signature wood fire Wood Grilled Cauliflower I always eat my vegetables, but I rarely enjoy them. They're two for two in accomplishing that feat. In a bowl lined with curry, they served up a healthy helping of cauliflower that showcases its smokiness first. With that first bite, you taste the fire quickly, but what surprised me most was how soft each piece of the veg was. The curry and smoky flavor from the wood fire paired deliciously. Though, my favorite aspect of this delivery was the inclusion of raisins and fresh mint. This was a new combo for me, and it delivered. The sourness from the raisins and the cool, herbaceous qualities of the mint cut right through the charred flavor. A beautiful contrast. As we continued to dismantle the plate, there was a familiar flavor that we all recognized but couldn't identify. Maybe it was the serrano aioli or the black lentils. Either way, we all enjoyed this one. Wood Grilled Octopus This was a favorite of mine, but I was alone in that regard. While nobody disliked the dish, the table had mixed reviews. For me, this was perfectly cooked. The texture of the octopus was ridiculous with a cooking technique that created a crispy exterior while maintaining a tender bite. The smokiness didn't shy away here either. I mean damn. Most weren't a fan of the pepperoni, but fresh, ground meat added a rustic flavor pop that satiated my palate. It held that beloved pepperoni flavor, but this style allowed for it's flavor to spread across each bite. What made this dish unique from any other octopus I've had was the addition of castelvetrano olives and legumes. They both brought an interesting flavor and texture element that surprised me. Lastly, the salsa verde served as a perfect sauce, providing an element of moisture that complimented the charred features. Well done. After round two is when shit got real. Crab Fried Rice OH SHIT. WTF. One of the best rice dishes I've ever had. This is one we all wished was much much bigger. Despite the name, this dish includes chunks of incredibly juicy, wood-roasted lobster that there was never going to be enough of. The crab was shredded and could be found in each bite of plump rice, providing a pleasing flavor. Both a lemongrass emulsion and Thai chili were included, offering a wonderful duality of zest and spice. I thoroughly enjoyed the basil and cashew elements as they created some extra variety in flavor and texture. Not much else is needed for me to say, it's a must order. Char Sui Glazed Brisket OH SHIT. My friend and I loved being able to sit out on the patio to enjoy our food and champagne on such a beautiful day. The server was awesome and even brought my pup a bowl of water. We got champagne and did their Honeydew Lemongrass Limeade as the mixer, which I highly recommend! My friend got the Egg White Scramble and I ended up getting the Fried Rice. I was pretty disappointed in the basically non-existent bok choy in my dish since they chop it up and add it to the rice. It's a waste of bok choy honestly and the dish would be better with full bok choy pieces between the rice and egg. They couldn't even provide me with a side of bok choy because they pre-chop everything. As our dessert, we ended up splitting the Ultimate Sticky Bun. It is unfair how delicious this was! As always, he was outstanding & knowledgable. He guided us in our experience and we were blown away. Ordered the Beet salad, Steamed Clams to start. I've had this place bookmarked for a hot minute and was finally able to check it out this past weekend. Pros: - Sunday at 11AM, we were seated right away in the patio area (PET FRIENDLY = huge plus in my book). That is HUGE considering brunch in the area always get packed fast. - Server was pretty attentive. The hostess was so adorable; her smile was very infectious. - I'm not sure if it was because I was hungry, but the pancake was DIVINE. The amount of food definitely was a lot for the price. Cons: - Parking can be tricky but this area is known for that. - Steak in my steak and eggs are on the chewier side. We both ordered medium rare and mine came less pink than my friend's. The carrots had really nice char and the salt level was perfect. The chili oil, pistachio, and pickled all worked so well together. Super balanced and one of my favorite bites of the night! The brisket raviolini broth had great depth and almost leaned seafood-forward, and the filling was soft and tender. The agnolotti was excellent. The sauce was velvety and creamy, and while the truffle flavor was definitely there, it wasn't overpowering. The pasta itself had great texture and a flavorful filling. Service started off pretty slow, but once things got moving, it was really solid. They were attentive about wiping tables, changing plates between courses, and refilling water quickly. The crab fried rice was probably the most disappointing. Very small and overpriced. Nothing special for me flavor wise. I don't really remember crab in the dish haha. The lobster had a nice smoky flavor, though it was a little chewy. The dish was also slightly wetter? than I would've preferred. The char siu brisket was very good! Sauce/meat was flavorful and super tender. I liked the earthiness from the vegetables, and the coconut curry itself was well made, but for me the flavor combinations didn't fully come together? The gnocchi was soft, pillowy, and almost melting. The morels and sauce was great. I wasn't sold on the crispy fried bits on top since they threw off the balance a bit, and the garlic was pretty aggressive, maybe a little too much. The crudo was fresh and light, with nice crunchy garlic and crisp vegetables. The sauce paired really well with everything. Dessert was mixed. The cookie pie had good flavor, but the texture was a little odd for me, it was like thick and almost chewy? I kept wishing for a little flaky salt to balance the sweetness. One amazing restaurant with superb and very attentive service and great food in a café like urban setting. We ordered a variety of dishes and each was presented well, and flavorful. We loved the welcoming staff who seemed attentive at every table they served. We found the food a bit salty, so if you are watching your salt intake then stay off the soupy dishes. Came here for Mother's Day brunch and had a nice experience. They have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. We were seated inside with a view of the kitchen. Service: Our server was friendly and attentive. Food: we ordered the stuffed French toast, baked eggs and simple breakfast. The French toast was not actually stuffed, as I expected, but topped with apples and toppings. It was a think piece of brioche bread and the dish was tasty and not too sweet. I was disappointed in the baked eggs, as I really didn't get much egg out of it. I shared it with my husband and while it did have a lot of flavors, it was overwhelmingly chickpeas and tomato sauce for me. The sourdough bread was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. We ordered the simple breakfast with bacon for our son because they don't have a kids menu and it was perfect for him. I do with we ordered the ultimate sticky bun, which is their speciality, but will have to try that another time. Parking is a real challenge as there is only street parking. Stopped by for a weekend brunch here with my partner and had a wonderful time. From the moment we walked in, we could feel the energetic and lively setting. The staff was very friendly and got us seated right away. We ordered a few things to share: Chilaquiles Rojos: includes eggs, crema, cotija, pinto beans, guacamole, pickled onions, and cilantro - a very flavorful, classic Mexican breakfast plate. The crispy tortilla pieces balanced out the other components of the dish very nicely. I liked that there was no spiciness. Egg White Scramble: contains swiss chard, brussel sprouts, harissa pesto, shallots, goat cheese, mint, and cilantro - a lighter brunch plate that is still full of flavor. I liked the creaminess from the goat cheese. This is a solid choice if you don't want something heavy. Ultimate Sticky Bun: wasn't planning on ordering this until the server convinced us to, as there are limited quantities made per day. It tasted extremely sweet and decadent. The cold vanilla ice cream tasted amazing when eaten with the warm bun. Definitely felt more like a dessert to be eaten at the end. In addition to seating inside the restaurant, there is some comfortable outdoor seating on their patio. Enjoyed a nice brunch with my partner as we had a brunch reservation. Highly recommended to make a reservation as Trust can get super packed often. Upon arrival, noticed they have quite the modern design. Love that there's a large outdoor area with sizeable indoor seating as well. Very spacious overall and clean. Service is pretty quick, our orders were taken quickly and food came out at a adequate time. Restaurant was quite busy during brunch so props to the speed. We decided on three dishes to share, Chilaquiles Rojos, Egg White Scramble, and the Ultimate Sticky Bun. The Chilaquiles Rojos is filled with Tortilla chips mixed with cotija, guac, cilantros, and two eggs. Portions are huge for this dish, very much a shareable dish. Chips were a good touchup to the sauce, a bit spicy but very enjoyable overall. It's also one of their popular items and I would certainly get this again. The Egg White Scramble is a bit interesting to me. It's very much a seasoned vegetables type dish. Very unique I'd say but it was quite delicious. A savory touch to the dish and complimented the other two dishes well. I didn't enjoy the Brussel sprouts in the dish as to me, it didn't apply much flavor or difference to the dish. Other than that, a decent dish. I was massively impressed with the Ultimate Sticky Bun, a HUGEEE fun dessert to share. From what the staff said, it's limited per day, and is different layout/toppings daily. I can see why it's their most popular item as the flavors are just fabulous. Luckily, the day we dined in, we got a custard type sticky bun, layered with vanilla ice cream, peanut crumbs, and orange slices. It was the perfect dish to conclude the meal, it was something that we've never tasted and we're very glad that we had ordered this dish. The cinnamon roll is indeed a must for the table. 10/10 The other dishes I tried were either savory or sweet, pretty typical upscale brunch fair. I had the fried chicken and pancakes (8/10) which was fairly good. Nothing blew me away per se, (maybe a little unseasoned?) but I think overall it's fairly priced and they have a good selection of coffees, mimosas etc to make your whole group happy. I visited San Diego for the weekend & so many creators on TikTok recommended this spot for brunch. My friend & I showed up mid-morning on Sunday, & thankfully didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered the honeydew lemonade limeade and the fried chicken and pancakes for my entree. I only took a few sips of the limeade. It was made with sparkling water, which the menu didn't mention. I'm not a fan of sparkling water, so it was a no-go for me, though it didn't taste bad. Sparkling water makes me feel like I'm eating pop rocks lol. Anyways, lemongrass can be such an overpowering flavor, but it was balanced with the other flavors in this drink. It was just more reminiscent of pop than lemonade. Before you think "pop???" Listen. I'm from the Midwest. We don't say "soda" this way, lol. The chicken and waffles were good. The pancakes tasted like vanilla & I loved the crispy edges. The main thing I look for in pancakes are crispy edges. They were incredibly filling, so I could only finish one. You will probably leave with leftovers if you order this. The chicken was well seasoned & the chili crisp on top wasn't too spicy. It gave the chicken additional flavor without all the heat. I enjoyed that the chicken was served in bite-size pieces. I have been wanting to come to Trust for so long and when my friends had suggested we had our brunch date I said yes. We came on Easter Sunday and was a lucky that I live close enough and had my husband drop me and friends off. To start we got their season sticky bun which was their carrot cake and we each ordered a cocktail, we got an order of espresso martinis which were little but mighty, they were so smooth and flavorful too. For my meal, I got the fried pork cutlet, whenever I see a porkchop I always order it. First, the carrot cake sticky bun, is INSANE that was the most delicious sticky bun I have ever eaten and just looking at the photos on my phone I am absolutely craving it. Sharing it between three girls is ideal but I would have definitely ordered my own. My porkchop was perfect, it comes with a sunny side eggs and potatoes. The porkchop was so incredibly tender and flavorful and that gravy is just perfect. I want that for my dinner tonight, I also tried my friends Albacore tartare which was pretty flavorful and was just refreshing for how warm it was. I was visiting San Diego with my sister and niece and we tried to get a table at a different restaurant nearby but they said they didn't have any tables available and that we would have to wait several hours. My sister checked OpenTable and saw that they had tables available earlier than we had been told and thought we might've been turned away because they didn't want a kid in their restaurant. We walked down the street to Trust and I'm so glad we did! They didn't have any tables inside but there were plenty of tables outside with heat lamps. Our server (I wish I remembered his name) was so great with my niece which completely turned around our night. He was such a genuinely nice person and whenever I think about great service, I think of this dinner we had. I would recommend most everything we ordered except for the coal roasted carrots. The carrots were a bit too crunchy for my taste but the other dishes we ordered (Braised Oxtail Raviolini, Mushroom Malfalde, and Little Gems) were hearty and flavorful. The kids menu macaroni and cheese was next level and so buttery and comforting. My niece wasn't super hungry that night so I happily ate her leftovers. We really wanted to like Trust--honestly, it's right there in the name. Customer service was solid, but unfortunately the food just wasn't it for us. I ordered the chilaquiles while my partner went with the "simple breakfast." The chilaquiles sauce leaned way too tangy for my liking; I barely made it through half and didn't bother taking leftovers. My partner's potatoes also missed the mark. Potatoes were definitely not fresh, definitely not crispy (despite the request). Maybe "simple (breakfast)" was a little too on the nose... We were also seated at an outdoor corner table by the steps, which... was unfortunate. A lot of dogs pass through this walkway, and the area smelled strongly of dog pee. Not the restaurant's fault, but it's hard to enjoy breakfast with dog pee scent wafting in the air... Parking in this area is already limited and overpriced, so pairing that with a breakfast we didn't enjoy--and could've gotten elsewhere for cheaper and far better--just didn't help the experience. Overall, we left as two very un-happy campers, lol. It's safe to say we won't be returning for breakfast. Maybe lunch or dinner is another story, but not sure when/if we'll be back. We chose this restaurant for our 10th wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, what should have been a special evening turned into a very disappointing experience. This was also our first time dining here, so we were particularly excited to try it. Given that this is positioned as a premium restaurant, we expected a level of service and attention that simply wasn't there. We started with two glasses of wine and, about 10-15 minutes later, ordered the two happy-hour entrées available that evening: the mushroom mac & cheese and the smash burger. We had specifically planned to enjoy them with our wines--the mac & cheese with the white wine and the burger with the red. Shortly before we ordered our food, another couple sat at the stools next to us and ordered the exact same two entrées. What happened next really highlighted the inconsistency in service. That couple was given their plates and utensils immediately after ordering, and when their food arrived, both entrées came out together. We, however, were not even asked whether we were sharing our food, which apparently has to do with when your food arrives to you. After ordering, the bartender never brought plates or utensils for us. Our burger eventually arrived, while the mac & cheese did not. The manager told us our plates and utensils would be coming shortly, then the bartender sat them down on the bar. We assumed the mac & cheese was also on its way. After waiting another 10-15 minutes, I asked the manager about the missing dish. She explained that the mac & cheese takes longer to prepare, which was why it hadn't arrived with the burger. Several minutes later, I asked the bartender, who had taken our order, why we hadn't received both entrées. His response was "since we were sharing, he didn't think it mattered when the mac & cheese arrived". What type of response is that to say to a paying customer!?? Then he walked away! He didn't say "I'll check on it or nothing of that sort! And that was particularly frustrating because we never told him we were sharing. I also explained to him that it was our anniversary and that we had intentionally planned our meal and wine pairings. He offered to bring our red wine at that point--but by then, we were already about halfway through the burger. The red wine was served too warm for a red wine, and when we pointed that out, it was put on ice. By the time it reached a reasonable temperature, our burger and the few fries that accompanied it were cold. (We ordered 1 burger meal). Approximately 10 minutes later, the mac & cheese finally arrived. Meanwhile, the couple who had ordered the exact same two dishes 10-15 minutes before us received both of their entrées together. At that point, the evening had already become disappointing. My husband was still hungry, so he ordered the Ricotta Agnolotti, a specialty featured on the restaurant's website. At $26, the portion was quite small, and black truffle that was supposed to be part of the dish was tasteless. We ultimately left disappointed and still hungry. What made the experience even more disappointing was what happened the following day. I called to speak with a manager because I wanted to share our experience. The same manager from the night before told me that when meals are shared, they don't come out at the same time. Again, I explained that we had never requested that our meals be shared. That was an assumption made by the bartender, and that assumption directly contributed to our food arriving at different times and our meal being poorly timed. What was most disappointing was that, throughout the entire experience--and even during my follow-up call--the manager never apologized. There was no acknowledgment that the service had fallen short, no effort to take responsibility for the misunderstanding, and no invitation to return and give the restaurant another chance. We paid $137 including tip for this anniversary dinner. We weren't expecting special treatment simply because it was our anniversary. We were expecting basic attentiveness, communication, and hospitality--especially from a restaurant that presents itself as a premium dining establishment. For our 10th anniversary and our first visit, this was unfortunately not the memorable experience we had hoped for. We left feeling overlooked, disappointed, and, quite literally, still hungry. For a premium restaurant, the food and service need to deliver a premium experience!!Unfortunately, ours did not. read more

We had a really great experience once we actually got to the restaurant, but it did start off a bit rocky. I tried calling ahead to see if there was a wait and if so, how long was the wait. I was put on hold for over 7 minutes without anyone picking up. I eventually had to hang up and call back to get through. That was a little frustrating. It was also hot....VERY hot inside. Not sure if the AC was broken or if the place is always that hot inside. That said, everything after that was fantastic. The staff was friendly and welcoming once we arrived, and the food absolutely made up for the rough start. The brunch menu had a great mix of classics and creative options. We got the chilaquiles and the hamburger. Both were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We got a bottle of champagne which came with a side of fresh squeezed orange juice and some sort of lavender juice. Yum!!! We sat at the bar and Bianca assisted us. She was so sweet, attentive and provided great recommendations on the food. Service was quick...like really quick. Thank you Bianca!!! Came here on a Saturday morning around 11AM and was seated immediately. My boyfriend and I ordered the Albacore Tartare ($23) and Smoked Pork Shoulder Hash ($22). The Albacore Tartare was delicious! The freshness of the fish, the generous amount of avocado, and the perfect seasoning left me wanting more. I loved that they provided taro root chips, which made the whole dish unique and complemented the tartare well. I honestly recommend getting this, as it's different from any tartare you'll ever have. As for the Smoked Pork Shoulder Hash, I thought they added their own twist to it. Every bite was flavorful. The ratio of ingredients was perfect, as it didn't feel heavy despite the beans, mayo, and potatoes. The generous portion of pork was a huge plus, especially since it stayed hot from the pan. The only downside was that it started to get a bit salty after a few bites. Overall, I would love to come back and try their other dishes. The server was nice, attentive, and patient. We ordered a few things and weren't overly impressed for the price and hype. The albacore tartare was extremely heavy on the avocado. The casarece pasta was runny, and the crab fried rice had a very overpowering creamy sauce on top. It seemed like they were trying to do too much. They also coursed things out very slowly -- veryyyy long gaps in between our courses. I've lived in this area for years and have never been here. Food was delicious. It's a great spot to celebrate, have brunch with family and friends. I have not yet been for dinner so it's a brunch review. Service was great. Good came out in a timely manner and was beautifully presented. It's definitely on the pricier side, so it's probably not a place I will be going to all the time, but I can't wait to bring my friends here. A Complete 180! Incredible Brunch and Drinks! About a month ago, I had a less-than-stellar experience here due to some service issues. However, we decided to return yesterday for brunch to give them a second chance, and I am glad we did!The entire experience was absolutely flawless. The brunch dishes were spectacular and the drinks were perfectly crafted. Our server was absolutely great, and the manager was kind and helpful. She made sure to assist her servers as needed, she even brought over our cocktails herself! There were also accommodating to my son's dog. They have her a bowl of water and we ordered her a pup patty which she loved. They both made us feel incredibly welcome from start to finish. Trust completely won us back. Went here on a sunday for brunch. The place was pretty crowded and parking was difficult. I was happy i had a reservation. This is a terrible place to go if you want to have a conversation as it is extremely noisy. The ambiance can best be described as industrial meh. Service was fine but the highlight was most definitely the food. I ordered the stuffed french toast and hubby had the albacore. Both dishes were absolutely divine. They definitely do pasta justice at this establishment. The milk and cookies pie dessert was a hit and would recommend that. Dishes that missed the mark for me were the crab fried rice and the sticky toffee pudding. The crab fried lacked interesting flavors and the texture was a bit too wet in my opinion.
