Very nice brunch spot! They have very nice standard and creative menu. We had an egg Benedict, a blue corn pancake and a breakfast pizza. All of those are pretty nice! My personal favorite is the blue corn pancake, the texture is so good and tastes more flavorful than the regular ones. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. I recommend this place!

I'd say this is a nice little spot. The service is really good. The staff is very attentive. The food was amazing. I had the cowboy benedict absolutely delicious! The orange juice here is really good. They have indoor and outdoor seating but depending on how busy they are, there may be a wait. Definitely worth it. Place is clean. I'd definitely recommend this spot.

Came Sunday 930am for party of 3. Our friend was very late but the staff was very accommodating with drinks while we waited. I had the house made carnitas in polenta which was fantastic w house made hot sauce too. My friends were kind of boring w basic breakfast w bacon and the avocado toast. Would return 100%

This place is so cute and food was actually decent ! I got the pork belly benedict and surprised it came with a good portion and thick piece. Eggs was cooked great and bread was crispy ! I went with a larger party of 8, and everyone enjoyed their food. The server was very attentive to us and we did not feel rushed at all. Parking might be a bit difficult, but was able to find side street parking in good time.

Hands down one of my favorites places to eat no matter the occasion. Food is amazing and staff are real friendly. Love the ambiance of the place. I tried the Portuguese Sausage for the first time and it was 4/5 Couldn't leave without trying the Churro Pancake! 5/5

I dined with my neighbor for Girl's Breakfast early on MLK. She came here with her parents over the holidays and said this is a must try spot for me. I'm not a huge breakfast person but I trust her. Very cute location, decor is charming and it very spacious to accommodate guests inside and out. Our server was darling, super helpful and had a great sense of humor. My neighbor ordered a breakfast burrito and I got the Lemon Ricotta Pancake with Blueberry Compote on the side by request. We received our drinks shortly after he took our order. Food was served within 15 minutes. My eyes grew big, I asked if they had to deliver my pancake with a forklift because it was larger than my face. It was a good call just to order 1. There was citrusy bits of lemon zest in the fluffy batter. It was a pleasant surprise in each bite. I totally intended to each just half but somehow the whole pancake disappeared. Service was great! There are plenty of options, I was actually eyeing the Benedicts so will come back for that!

I was in the area yesterday and decided to try this place for brunch. On a Saturday at 11:30 we were able to get in right away. We got the real thang beef burger as well as the breakfast pizza. Both were great, the burger was cooked well, still very juicy. And the pizza had a lot of flavor and had a great cheese pull! Service was alright. The restaurant itself was cute, old fashioned and the stained glass window inside was really pretty.

We arrived as a party of 4 on a wednesday around 11am and we were immediately seated. We chose a table outside. Fortunately we could move the sun umbrellas to block most of the sun. The servers were super friendly but service overall was pretty slow. It took a while for the food and then the check. I loved the tres egg scrambles - Chili crusted tofu, basil & asiago cheese. There are great vegetarian and gluten free options. The chilaquiles was also very good. They recommended it with the green sauce. We found street parking a few blocks away.

I had never been here. A friend said it is his "home" and wanted me to enjoy it. So off we went. We were seated immediately and our server, Thea, was amazing. She knew the menu and helped to guide me to some great choices. The lobster risotto was beyond compare. Lots of lobster and oh so yummy. The fish with the lemon caper sauce was out of this world. Soooooo great. And while not cheap. It is worth the price for the quality and level of service. I had some left overs and they even wrote on the lid what was inside and the date. Well done and very much worth the trip.

I hadn't been here in years so I was thrilled when a friend suggested we meet for lunch. We both had the stir-fried rice and shared a lemon ricotta pancake. Both were perfect. The place is cute and the employees were wonderful. I'm looking forward to my next visit to try more items on the menu.

Adorable neighborhood eatery, indoor and outdoor seating. Service was impressive, really appreciate good service. Our waiter was so nice and helpful with all the items on the vast menu. Everything on the menu looked worth trying. My daughter ordered the chilaquiles with a flat iron steak, over easy eggs. The homemade corn chips were the nice thick kind, the sauce was a mix to me of Adobe and mole, thick with so much flavor and spice; beyond my imagination. The spice definitely lasted on the tongue, ha ha. Fresh guacamole, perfectly pickled purple onions, cilantro and cotija cheese. Worth ordering. I ordered the PH salad with grilled chicken, raspberry vinaigrette, sliced almonds, mixed greens, sliced cherry tomatoes with homemade bread. I would order it again. The iced latte was delish! I would love to return and try other items on the menu!

Was invited to catch breakfast here and was surprised I've never heard of this cute venue/restaurant. Outside and inside of this small spot is very open and staff treated us well. Parking can be tricky depending on the time you go. You make be looking for a spot for a while. Had the chocolate mocha and truly enjoyed the sweet flavors. The menu has a variety of items to choose from which can be overwhelming but I ended up choosing a salad. Salad was basic. Nothing too special. Dressing was ok. Cool place to meet friends or a date for a bite to eat and chat for sure. I like how open the restaurant is and the level of calmness you feel there. Although I wasn't a fan of the food, I do feel that the place has good vibes. Perhaps it's worth a try to go back and try something else next time.

It's a casual spot, but the food leans more chef-driven and thoughtful. We started with the breadsticks and truffle butter simple, but really well done. The crispy portobello mushrooms were one of my favorites, super flavorful with a great texture. For drinks, I had a margarita and a bloody mary, both solid. For mains, we ordered the tri-tip sandwich (aka "Cardiff Crack") and the chicken sandwich. The tritip especially lives up to the hype really tender, packed with flavor, and easy to see why it has that nickname. Dessert is what stood out so much . The butter cake comes warm with ice cream and purée, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. I took a bite and just paused for a second it's that kind of dessert Overall, a really good spot if you want elevated comfort food in a laid back setting. I'd definitely come back, especially for that butter cake and tritip

I did not have anything to eat this time but will try the food next time. KPBS was having their One Book One San Diego event here and I was interested so stopped in today check it out. I learned that over 750+ book entries were received! Wow! At my table, I ended up meeting a librarian, a teacher and a publisher. The librarian was part of the selection committee and she suggested so many good books! She mentioned a book about octopus conversation in the atolls and my ears perked up. The book is Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and its on my shortlist to read soon! Waiting for it on Libby! OK. back to the venue. We had the side part of the bar and everything was outside so that was nice. Service was great and Zach did a great job getting everyone's orders. I started off with a special edition One Book, One Brew beer, brewed in the Kolsch style and limited edition beer by Chula Vista Brewery. Nice, crisp and summery beer! I also had a margarita too, that was so-so for me so next time will stick with beers. Parking around here is a pain but I did find a spot after circling a few times. This is probably the longest overdue review I have ever written, but at this point, not writing it…read morealmost feels selfish because I would very much like to always be able to get a table here. But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.

Favorites of the night were definitely the Elote-Style Cauliflower (so flavorful and delicious!!) and the Wildflower Cornbread Muffins which were honestly fantastic. The Forager's Truffle Flatbread was also really good -- nice truffle flavor without being overpowering. The Award-Winning Truffle Fries were decent, and the Lodge Pretzel Board was okay too; the mustard butter was great but the alpine cheese dip didn't really wow us. We also tried the Artichoke and BBQ Chicken Flatbreads which were both solid choices for sharing with a group. One thing we noted though was that besides the flatbreads, the "Basecamp Mains" section was completely non-vegetarian, which was why we ended up doing only shared appetizers instead of trying out the entrees as half our group was vegetarian and did not have any options to choose from. We ended up skipping dessert since none of the options really stood out to us and headed elsewhere for sweets afterward. Overall, a really fun atmosphere for a group dinner with good service, great vibes, and several standout dishes. I definitely want to return with my family to try out some of the entrees as well.

I don't think it ever works to have multiple people serve the table. There's no continuity and stuff gets forgotten. We had multiple orders not logged and therefore not delivered. We ordered both the Brussels and the ahi crackers for appetizers. The Brussels came 5 minutes later. Perfect timing. But the ahi never showed. I don't think it was until we mentioned it. It had really been a long time so we asked to cancel. But they lets us know the entrees were delayed and told us they'd comp the ahi. All right, whatever, we had them. They were still on the bill but I didn't say anything. Also midway through I asked for a second beer but it never came. I wanted the Mexican lager and the server even asked if I wanted a line. But I think this order directly preceded the discussion about the ahi so it must have been forgotten. My final gripe: I really don't like places that bring entrees staggered, or when they're ready. The steak came and the chicken followed about 5 minutes later. We're a party of 2. It's not like a 6 top and the poor server needs to make 2 trips. All in all this place isn't really for us so we won't be coming back anytime soon.

As always, he was outstanding & knowledgable. He guided us in our experience and we were blown away. Ordered the Beet salad, Steamed Clams to start. I got the Swordfish & Roasted Carrots and my wife enjoyed the Oxtail. Outstanding! They knew it was my birthday and the team wrote me a signed card by the staff. Very sweet. Grateful for this place. Stay forever.

We got champagne and did their Honeydew Lemongrass Limeade as the mixer, which I highly recommend! My friend got the Egg White Scramble and I ended up getting the Fried Rice. I was pretty disappointed in the basically non-existent bok choy in my dish since they chop it up and add it to the rice. It's a waste of bok choy honestly and the dish would be better with full bok choy pieces between the rice and egg. They couldn't even provide me with a side of bok choy because they pre-chop everything. As our dessert, we ended up splitting the Ultimate Sticky Bun. It is unfair how delicious this was! Condensed milk, strawberries, and lavender ice cream. Soo happy we decided to set one aside for dessert. There's a reason these sell out quickly!
