This was such a nice restaurant that sits right by the pool. It's giving resort vibes. On the weekends they have an option of regular brunch or the DJ brunch where you can sit outside where the DJ is spinning. We made reservations for the DJ brunch and the DJ was doing his thing! Our server was Marx and he was great, no complaints there. Now to what you all came here for, the food ! It was 3 of us and we ordered the Japanese cinnamon roll, the tocino fried rice, crab cakes, biscuits and gravy, two egg breakfast and of course bottomless mimosas and espresso martinis. When I say ALL the food was good, ALL the food was good. The biscuits were sooooo good. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy was HEAVY on the bacon flavor so if that's not your thing be mindful of that. Oh honorable mention for the cream cheese icing on that cinnamon roll, it was chefs kiss! The only thing I was not a fan of was the espresso martini. It was just not well made. Loved it! I manage a restaurant so for an industry folk to give 5 stars a place has to earn it. The host was the sweetest, kind and even table checked mid meal, the manager was ever present but also trusting of his staff, he knew my table was in good hands and could tell a table touch wasn't needed. And my server man he was a ball of energy, he literally guided me through the menu, paired the food and wine together, red zin and pasta. When it came to desert he paired me with the s'more's and espresso martini since I ain't driving might as well! The decor is clean simple and friendly. But the room came alive via the service from Anthony, his energy and silliness was balanced by his uncanny menu knowledge. We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing from beginning to end. We made a reservation earlier in the week for a girlfriend's birthday brunch on Sunday. We arrived at 11:45am and weren't seated until about 12:03pm. Normally I wouldn't mind waiting, but from what we could see, there were maybe 6-7 tables dining and plenty of open tables. They did have a pit bull look-alike contest and a live DJ going on, which gave the place a fun vibe. A few minutes after we were seated, the manager came over and introduced our server, which felt a little unusual and made us wonder if he was new. We placed our drink orders, but didn't receive them until around 12:35pm, almost 30 minutes later. We let our server know we were ready to order, and our food finally arrived around 1:15pm. During that entire wait, no one checked in or gave us an update that the kitchen was running behind. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the wait. We all agreed the best things we had were the mimosas and cinnamon roll. I ordered the Eggs in a Pot, which is similar to shakshuka and described on the menu as having poached eggs. My eggs were completely well done. When I mentioned it to our server, he told me the eggs are "always like that" for this dish. I've had plenty of shakshuka, and a fully cooked yolk is definitely not what I'd consider a poached egg. We also ordered the soufflé pancakes, but there was nothing soufflé-like about them. Instead of being light, airy and fluffy, they tasted like very thick regular pancakes. The tocino fried rice was another miss. The pork belly was dry and the fried rice lacked flavor. The deviled eggs also tasted off to us. They lacked flavor, and the texture of the egg whites made them seem like they may have been prepared well in advance. What made the experience more frustrating was that after our food arrived, no one came back to check on us. There were no water refills or "How is everything?" We had to flag people down when we needed something. I really do try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt because every restaurant can have an off day. But when the service is this slow and nearly every dish at the table misses the mark, it's hard to overlook. The concept also felt a little confusing. It's presented as New American, but several dishes lean heavily into Asian fusion without feeling particularly cohesive or well executed. For a birthday brunch that we were looking forward to, this was unfortunately a disappointing experience. This restaurant had been on our radar ever since the T&C Resort's $90 million renovation in 2020. We finally tried ARLO on the strong recommendation of friends, and it turned out to be one of the best outdoor patio dining experiences we've had in quite some time. Our San Diego evening weather was absolutely perfect for dining al fresco! Our party of six was seated at the restaurant's best table, located at the northeast corner of their covered patio. We were greeted by George, the GM, and served by Patrick. The outdoor ambiance here is very chill. We enjoyed a comfortable breeze, and the nearby pool activity did not affect our dining experience at all. Our dishes included their delicious sourdough bread, rack of lamb, ribeye steak, seared scallops, salmon, branzino, wedge salad, s'mores, and blueberry cobbler. Everything was delicious! The portions are generous, and everything was nicely plated. For us, the highlights were the warm sourdough bread, rack of lamb appetizer, blueberry cobbler, and ribeye steak with a side of mushrooms--probably because those were the dishes my wife and I shared. Patrick was also kind enough to bring us a few s'mores desserts as we were celebrating an early birthday as well as our courting anniversary at the table. It was a very thoughtful touch. The restaurant also validates parking for guests who dine here, which is a nice convenience. Overall, we were impressed with the menu selection, food quality, service, and outdoor dining atmosphere. Came for dj brunch with no reservations, the restaurant was pretty empty but I was quoted with a 20-30 minute wait time. A few minutes later my friend arrived, went to ask for a table (not mentioning I already checked in) and all of the sudden he can be seated immediately. Arlo is located in the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley. It's a beautiful restaurant with some refined San Diego character! I enjoyed seeing the San Diego Trolley and Chargers artwork. You can park in the hotel parking structure and they validate parking. We came for brunch and our server Marley was friendly, offered some good menu recommendations, and checked in throughout our meal. We ordered the French toast and the Arlo Benedict (pork belly). I enjoyed the crispy pork belly and potatoes sides with the Benedict. The French toast was very good although it would have been nice to have some strawberries to go with the blueberries and raspberries. We stayed at the hotel this weekend for a musical theater competition and were lucky enough to eat at Arlo for both dinner and breakfast. 3.5 stars for food, extra star for the service. My friend and I came for dinner on a Friday and Anthony took SUCH good care of us! The place was empty on a Friday at 7 which was weird, but the decor and ambience are really very nice. Anthony was friendly and energetic and gave very enthusiastic descriptions of all the menu items. He was attentive and kept our drinks full and crumbs cleared, but the flow of the meal was relaxed which was good because there was so much food in the four course prix fixe. Another example of the excellent service was this: the sun was in my eyes and I mentioned it but they didn't have blinds to draw, so Anthony went and found a large umbrella from the patio and moved it until it blocked the sun, watching my face til I was no longer squinting. As for the food: The sourdough was delicious and the herb butter really elevated the already great bread. I had the pork belly appetizer which was a generous portion with the frisée and other greens on the side too. The fat was well rendered so it melted in my mouth with wonderful caramelization and crisp edges. It was sweet but also tangy with the kumquat slices on top. The sumac popcorn was a fun and unusual addition and altogether I would highly recommend this appetizer. My friend had the gnocchi which was a bit dense but I loved the mushroom flavor and again, it was a generous portion. Very cool variety of mushrooms in it and the truffle wasn't too much. I chose the little gem wedge salad which came with the most wonderfully crisp guanciale. The cubes were so light and crumbly-crisp they seemed like they were freeze dried. The buttermilk blue cheese dressing was excellent, and my friend's Cesar salad was very authentic and looked great as well. I was starting to get full at this point so I started saving room for the short rib main, but the portion there wasn't overwhelming. The honey cornbread was sadly my favorite part here as the meat was not as tender as hoped and could have used more bordelaise. After the appetizer and salad (and I don't even usually like salad) the main was only so-so. For dessert my friend and I shared the s'more which sounded like a must, and the blueberry cobbler (crumble?). The s'more was delicious though more a mousse than a s'more as the marshmallow aspects (inside the mousse and the sauce as well) were not strong in taste and didn't really get across the marshmellow idea. Maybe if the sauce was thicker and torched more like a meringue but it tasted more like a cream sauce. The crumbs were very tasty and I loved that the chocolate portions were not too sweet but more bittersweet which helped with the richness. The blueberry dessert could have used more of the crumble as that was the best part, but it was pretty good. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the cocktails as well. The blackberry cocktail was our favorite of the two we tried and we stuck with that one. One thing to note was they had changed the menu so that more of the items on the menu were upcharges for the prix fixe, so the value was not as good. The original price was enough of a deal that it did draw me more to trying this place. But overall still solid, though given the stiff competition in San Diego for fine dining it's not high on my list to run back. read more

Truly some of the best brunch and vibes I have experienced! Walking in we were greeted and asked if we wanted inside or outside. Initially we wanted inside because of the brunch DJ but it was too pretty to not sit outside so we opted for outside. Sitting outside you get the beautiful view of the resort which was huge. Bottomless mimosas ($35 per person) was a great option because you self serve yourself and are given a bottle for the table and multiple options or juices. 10/10 recommend. Soufflé pancakes were amazing! I have never tried before and they reminded me of biscuits. Even though they were amazing it wasn't my favorite dish because it had a lemon cream on top and inside which I didn't like too much. It was also a bit too thick and hard for what I imagined should've been soft type of pancakes. 7/10 recommend. Cinnamon roll was HUGE! It was amazing and different than other cinnamon rolls I've had. However it does look better than it tasted. From personal preference I like my cinnamon rolls warm and soft and this was more on the crunchy side. The cream cheese was a great add as well as the Frosted Flakes. 8/10 recommend. Two eggs plate was amazing. The bacon was cooked very well and tasted amazing. Adding the cheese on the eggs is a great addition they made. It did lack a bit of seasoning but adding salt and pepper helped improve the flavor. This is a great plate to choose if you want to order other plates to try. 9/10 recommend. Pork belly Benedict was amazing as well. Caesar, I understand if there was a little bit of anchovy taste, but it was really fishy Bolognese was actually pretty good pretty decent. It came with pulled beef and it was over top of a skillet that was kind of bread, but you couldn't really eat the bread because bread was so tough but it's not like they're trying to use the bread as a bowl to hold it in because they put in slices at the bottom that would leak all the juices anyways, so it was kind of a waste that itself was $28 Kids pizza it was two out of five kids weren't too keen on it Gnocchi the server did a good job for running us if we like mushrooms or not, but we didn't really realize the extent that it was that much mushrooms. Went to Arlo for Brunch and was a bit disappointed by the food but expectations on the vibe were met. To start, the Crab cake was good but not great. It lacks seasoning. The golden raisin remoulade is good though. Saves it. Avocado toast also lacks flavor. They seem to just scoop it out and put it straight on the toast without any added ingredients. At least the lack of flavors suggests that. Excessive arugula in my opinion. The Soufflé pancake has a funnel cake type taste. It's good. A bit much for me on sweetness but still good. This might be the item Id order again. The chicken and waffle has a croissant waffle and for me also a bit sweet to then add syrup. Chicken is pretty good. Decent size. Tender. The Cinnamon roll definitely tipped my blood sugar. I think I had higher expectation for it but it's just ok. It's a giant cinnamon roll, nothing great. The server was great and friendly. We were in the mood for some soufflé pancakes and found that they served them here. My mom was pleasantly surprised to Tocino Fried Rice on the menu. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with our food. The soufflé pancakes were good but were not soufflé pancakes. They tasted more like thick pancakes. The tocino fried rice was not what we were expecting. It was fried pork belly with mushy seasoned rice. The pickled cucumber and red onion were a nice add. The pork belly did not resemble any kind of tocino. If they just marinated it tocino style, then I can see this concept. This dish is filling for an adult. I had to take the rest home. On this visit I had the Crispy Tofu Hash. Another well made dish that came out within 15 minutes. This is on the lighter side, if you do not want to feel too full check out this dish. The mushrooms were flavorful and the sauce was not overpowering. The hook for me is the homemade biscuits! Fresh, warm and straight out of the oven. The butter and jam is homemade so ask for more of these items if that is your thing. The Mimosas are made from scratch. A staff member comes around on a cart with all the popular flavors, glasses, and ice and it is made right in front of your table. We had reservations at 11 AM for a party of four and it was not that crowded. I do not know about the late time slots but patrons are slowly trickling in when we left. Went here with a party of six and unfortunately everyone agreed the best thing we ate was the bread. I wasn't feeling like an entree so just got two sides -- roasted veggies and mashed potatoes -- but I could not finish either of them. The mashed potatoes had so much butter or oil I felt legitimately nauseous halfway through eating them. The veggies were smoky but also a bit oily. For $10 per side, I was very disappointed. Those that got the Caesar salads said they were too fishy, and that the anchovy taste was too strong and needed lemon to balance it out. I was told the Mac and cheese was low on sauce and generally flavorless, tasting store-bought if anything. The Arlo Bolognese though two of my party members said was ok. The single waiter likely had too many tables to serve as it took him a little while to get back to us each time. It was super easy to make a reservation on OpenTable and even easier to adjust the time later on, which made planning for a big party stress-free. We had a late father's day reservation this year around 1:15pm. We arrived for our reservation and waited 30 minutes to get seated in a mostly empty restaurant. You could tell there was a lot of tension in the air when we arrived. Front of house was disorganized, you could see and hear the tension from the wait staff to the kitchen. More staff were walking around, not sure really what they were doing and seems like everyone was having a bad day. Our server let us know the morning was slammed so hard that some customers had walked out. The people next to us had something happen with their brunch, we overheard the waitress say an issue occured and they would be comped for everything. They walked out shortly thereafter. We did hear several crashes in the kitchen right around this time and some yelling. Our food did come out quickly, our drinks did not. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. Best part for me was the home fries. I had ordered the Arlo Benedict, it seems as if they ran out of the pork belly and just threw a bunch of bacon in instead. My kids pancake was undercooked and the chiliquiles my wife ordered just looked blah. Overall this was our second time here. Both times were not great. Our first time was a few years earlier for dinner around 5:30pm with slow service and seemingly frustrated staff. I'm sure it's probably fine most of the time. This one is different. If you read my past reviews, Arlo is hit and miss st best. A friend I have a dinner out with once a month had not been here so after Arlo's response to my last review, I thought I'd give it one more chance. If this time things were not great, it was the last time I'd go there. Elanah, our server made the night. She was very attentive and while always at the ready. She was never intrusive. SHE MADE THE NIGHT PERFECTION. We were seated immediately on the patio. The outdoor space is inviting and comfortable. Both of us decided on the prix fixe menu so we could taste many things on the menu. The cocktails were delish. My guest thought their margarita was superb and my blood orange gin fizz was a summertime delight. I had the shrimp cocktail and he had the Wagyu meatballs to start. Both were very good. Next up, we both had the panzenella salad and it was also quite good. The mains were the ribeye -delish but slightly overcooked for a medium rare. The bollegnese was a hit as always. This is a lot of food so a good portion of it went home with each of us. For dessert- creme brûlée and a ultra dense chocolate cake with banana ice cream. The brûlée was simple and perfect. The chocolate one was super rich and yummy. So... almost three hours later how was the night? Near perfect. Again, the server was perfection. She is the main reason we will be back. I took my dad here for his birthday! We visited on a Sunday morning with a reservation for 4, but there were plenty of seats for people to walk in without one. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of seating and SD decor. Very clean!! They had a cart going around making table side mimosas and a super good DJ lol. Clean bathrooms too. We ordered the crab cake, eggs Benedict, caramel banana waffle, and a dish made of mashed tomatoes and poached eggs. All the food was very good, especially the waffle!! I wouldn't order that tomato dish again, it was very salty. I also got an iced vanilla latte that was surprisingly very good. They were nice enough to give us a birthday creme brulee for my dad. The staff was great, kept checking on us. We loved walking around the resort after too since it was our first time. They validate parking! read more

We have been here 4 times. 3 of the 4 times were a mess, today included. We came for Fathers Day. We waited for over 30 minutes for our table which we had a reservation for. Then waited for well over an hour for our food. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. We will not be back. read more

I heard this restaurant featured great breakfast and brunch, so we stopped in here super-early... The place was very sleek and nicely decorated, and had awesome overhead music. I ordered French Toast, and my husband ordered Croffle...and we shared Bacon. All I can say is YUM!! Everything looked and tasted amazing! Definitely one of the better, more upscaled breakfast joints I've been to. We enjoyed the vibe here so much, we lingered around longer than usual. read more

Although I loved the food and the area where this restaurant is located, my friends and my experience with the prices changed my overall review of ARLO. We were first met with a mimosa cart and asked if we wanted bottomless or just one mimosa. We asked the price of just one and were told a steep price of $15. We decided to get waters/fountain drinks. We ordered the Croffle, Soufflé Pancakes, and ARLO Benedict. We also ordered the house biscuits. They were crispy in the outside and soft on the inside. Overall we all enjoyed our food. My issue about everything was the overall price for just brunch. First, we were overcharged for soda. We got 2 sodas which came out to $6. I've yet to go to a restaurant in San Diego that charges so much for a fountain drink. On the ARLO website, it shows sodas being only $4. They either have not changed their online menu, or our waiter over charged us. Also, I have been to both higher and lower end brunch spots, and have never paid $91 for brunch, drinks not included. I understand this restaurant is at a resort but seems very steep as well. read more

Came to ARLO for brunch with my old college friends and our families. The food was delicious (got tofu hash and soufflé pancakes) and the ambiance was amazing. Shout out to mimosa service from Andreia.. she was attentive, friendly and really added to our great experience. Definitely coming back! read more
