Ambiance and Decor the vibe of San Diego.

Well wife surprised me on our anniversary. We came it took a minute to be seated. Then once Miguel took our order it took a while for the food to come. There was no real attentiveness. The food came and at first looked good. The eggs were overcooked and not poached. Definitely not a good Benedict. The saving grace was the French toast. I hope this was a bad day . Maybe we will come and try there Brunch.

The place definitely looks modern contemporary with a big wall with uneven shelves and open spacing right around their giant open windows. Good. We ordered kids pancakes, blueberry and burrataa shareable and two eggs with chicken apple sausage. It was served hot and I would rate it 4/5. They missed giving grilled sourdough for the burrata dish and it was served after the reminder. The service was slow in the morning given. I would avoid it if you want a quick breakfast before heading out for your daily excursions around. In our stay I would stick to MRKT for on the go breakfast.

Came for dj brunch with no reservations, the restaurant was pretty empty but I was quoted with a 20-30 minute wait time. A few minutes later my friend arrived, went to ask for a table (not mentioning I already checked in) and all of the sudden he can be seated immediately. Unsure why there was a wait when I asked but I was very put off by the treatment from the hostess. For food we tried the short rib hash and eggs and the morning Wagyu burger. The burger was tasty but the short rib hash was kind of bland. Overall, the meal was solid but probably wouldn't return.

Arlo is located in the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley. It's a beautiful restaurant with some refined San Diego character! I enjoyed seeing the San Diego Trolley and Chargers artwork. You can park in the hotel parking structure and they validate parking. We came for brunch and our server Marley was friendly, offered some good menu recommendations, and checked in throughout our meal. We ordered the French toast and the Arlo Benedict (pork belly). I enjoyed the crispy pork belly and potatoes sides with the Benedict. The French toast was very good although it would have been nice to have some strawberries to go with the blueberries and raspberries. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived but it felt like it took a while for our food to come out. Overall I'd come back again to try their dinner menu!

We stayed at the hotel this weekend for a musical theater competition and were lucky enough to eat at Arlo for both dinner and breakfast. Arlo is not your typical hotel restaurant -- it truly feels five-star, with such incredible ambiance. Our waiter was so kind, enthusiastic, and described everything on the menu perfectly. Every single thing I ate was amazing. The whole experience felt special from start to finish. I will definitely be coming back to stay at Town and Country and eat at Arlo again. Highly recommend!

We stopped in for a late breakfast and ordered the kids breakfast, chicken fried steak and the salmon bagel. For drinks we got a coffee, latte and a strawberry lemonade. Our server was nice and got our items out to us promptly. Food was fresh and tasted good. We left with full bellies. Only 1 thing to note, the salmon bagel was supposed to come on an everything bagel instead it came on a Jalapeño cheddar bagel instead. It wasn't bad just not as advertised. Inside was clean and had plenty of seating. The decor was nice.

Super cute brunch spot nested within The Society hotel and apartments. Lovely resort vibe and nice, modern decor. Very spacious and we didn't feel crowded at all even with the stroller at our table. Free parking in the garage with validation. The menu is a little more limited compared to most brunch places, but still a good variety. Definitely more of a fusion / creative menu vs. the classic brunch. The chicken and croffles were fantastic. Really loved the crunch and flavor of the coffle and the chicken was nicely seasoned and crunchy as well. Others in my party also enjoyed the breakfast burger and french toast.

Truly some of the best brunch and vibes I have experienced! Walking in we were greeted and asked if we wanted inside or outside. Initially we wanted inside because of the brunch DJ but it was too pretty to not sit outside so we opted for outside. Sitting outside you get the beautiful view of the resort which was huge. Bottomless mimosas ($35 per person) was a great option because you self serve yourself and are given a bottle for the table and multiple options or juices. 10/10 recommend. Soufflé pancakes were amazing! I have never tried before and they reminded me of biscuits. Even though they were amazing it wasn't my favorite dish because it had a lemon cream on top and inside which I didn't like too much. It was also a bit too thick and hard for what I imagined should've been soft type of pancakes. 7/10 recommend. Cinnamon roll was HUGE! It was amazing and different than other cinnamon rolls I've had. However it does look better than it tasted. From personal preference I like my cinnamon rolls warm and soft and this was more on the crunchy side. The cream cheese was a great add as well as the Frosted Flakes. 8/10 recommend. Two eggs plate was amazing. The bacon was cooked very well and tasted amazing. Adding the cheese on the eggs is a great addition they made. It did lack a bit of seasoning but adding salt and pepper helped improve the flavor. This is a great plate to choose if you want to order other plates to try. 9/10 recommend. Pork belly Benedict was amazing as well. I was a bit iffy about the pork belly but I'm glad I chose to keep it. The potatoes were also house made potatoes so those always taste great. Again I added salt to the potatoes to add more flavor. 9/10 recommend. Overall, this place has great food choices, good vibes, and a good view. Definitely recommend to come here with friends for brunch!

Went to the DJ brunch on Sat. First of all the DJ was lit! He was playing all the jams! The restaurant was pretty empty, which was surprising because the atmosphere was so good. Our server was Jessica and she was great. The food was so good as well. I definitely recommend this spot for brunch and I will definitely be back.

    Crab Cake

Went to Arlo for Brunch and was a bit disappointed by the food but expectations on the vibe were met. To start, the Crab cake was good but not great. It lacks seasoning. The golden raisin remoulade is good though. Saves it. Avocado toast also lacks flavor. They seem to just scoop it out and put it straight on the toast without any added ingredients. At least the lack of flavors suggests that. Excessive arugula in my opinion. The Soufflé pancake has a funnel cake type taste. It's good. A bit much for me on sweetness but still good. This might be the item Id order again. The chicken and waffle has a croissant waffle and for me also a bit sweet to then add syrup. Chicken is pretty good. Decent size. Tender. The Cinnamon roll definitely tipped my blood sugar. I think I had higher expectation for it but it's just ok. It's a giant cinnamon roll, nothing great. The server was great and friendly. Very attentive to refill the bottomless mimosas. The DJ was also great. Played a nice selection of songs that I feel like only my table knew but that was fine with us. The servers and the DJ save those place from the average food. Overall is a lot of sweet foods which if you like is great but I'm a savory type so this misses the mark for me. Still a lovely space.

If you're in Mission Valley, ARLO is a good choice--especially if you appreciate a restaurant that is spacious and not "cramped up." * The Food: The Farm Stand Omelet is pretty good and pairs perfectly with a hot latte. * The Vibe: The interior is huge and features a great bar and cool sports decor on the wall. * Service: Our server, Bong, was excellent--very attentive and proactive about checking for dietary restrictions. * Pro Tip: Park in the structure next door and remember to validate your ticket for free parking! I'd definitely recommend this spot and would absolutely come back.

Review is based on SD restaurant week. Definitely a very long overdue review.. Pros: - Ambience is wonderful. - No wait time because we made a reservation. - Parking was validated which is a plus. - Hamachi crudo with citrus vinaigrette was to die for! The corn bread that came with the beef roast was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside..perfect way to soak up all the juice. - Drinks were good supposedly. Bartender made my partner old fashioned and he mentioned that it got better and better each time around. Cons: - Chicken dish with sishito peppers and fingerling potatoes...very underwhelming. The sauce was too pasty to consider it as a sauce. - The dessert (2 different kinds) that should've came with our meal never arrived, but instead was replaced with a "recommended dessert." That threw me off honestly... For something as easy as a pre-fix menu and to not execute it correctly..not sure if I want to go back.

We came in as a large group and had a fantastic experience from the start. It was super easy to make a reservation on OpenTable and even easier to adjust the time later on, which made planning for a big party stress-free. We began with drinks, and the service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and well-organized despite the size of our party. We started with some seafood, gnocchi, and a variety of appetizers for the table--everything was generously portioned and perfect for sharing. I really enjoyed the new menu. The steak was well-prepared and flavorful, and the pasta dishes were absolutely delicious, with amazing presentation that made the whole meal feel special. For dessert, we ordered one of each for the table, and my personal favorite was the crème brûlée. Overall, a great spot for both quality food and accommodating service, especially for bigger groups.

Located in Old Town San Diego, we had dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from Oculto. I parked for free on the street and made a reservation day of. It's a pretty small speakeasy so if you're going on a weekend, you're probably going to have to make a reservation in advance. Ambiance (4.5/5): Oculto has the seven deadly sins theme going which is pretty cool. I've been to a similar speakeasy in St. Pete, Florida. Once you arrive at the mezcal bar that houses Oculto, check in with the host, and he will bring you to a "confessional." There, you must confess one of the seven deadly sins before the door to the speakeasy is opened for you. Naturally, I went with "lust." Once you get inside, it's a charming speakeasy. Service (2.5/5): This is one of the areas that leaves a little to be desired. There was only one bartender working when I was there. Since speakeasies have elevated cocktails, service was quite slow. They definitely needed two bartenders there to speed up the process. They also have a two-drink minimum which I was annoyed about on principle. I often have multiple drinks at a bar, but I never feel like I'm forced to do it. Food (N/A): I'm not sure if they have food, I don't believe they do. Regardless, I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): Pretty interesting menu of craft cocktails. When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for unique drinks that have an interesting combination of ingredients and flavor profiles. In addition to a nice list, they also have a dealer's choice cocktail where you can tell the bartender what you're into and they will craft a custom cocktail for you based on your taste. Another cool thing about Oculto is that it's located next to the cemetery in Old Town. That adds to the spooky theme.
