Wasn't totally sure what to expect, and really loved it. Oddish Wine is in a courtyard in an off the track part of town, but don't be deterred. Lots of seating (mostly outside) and you order at the counter then pick a seat wherever you like. A few other businesses share the space, so something for every drinker, and pizza to eat. I really enjoyed the Hybrids are Cool wine - the server let me taste before I committed to a glass because apparently some people find it a bit too weird - give it a try! Heard others raving about the red sangria.

Great little place to grab a unique wine, located in The Garten next door to Lost Cause Meadery. The service was nice and helpful, they did carry a couple of meads as well as their own selection. We ordered a full pour of the pineapple tepache and a double bourbon barrel aged Haxa mead. Both were very flavorful and strong, the mead was very sweet just the way I like it. I highly recommend this place.

Nice spot to come for its events. Came here for its soft opening and has a blast time meeting with the girls. They did have live music playing by 615 pm.

Love this place. We took the train from Oceanside to Old Town. Then a quick Uber to the Garten. Can't say enough good things about the wine. My favorite was the hopped blueberry wine

First off, the little vase of fresh pink mums and yarrow sitting on our table set the whole tone. Small touch, but it made the space feel warm and intentional, like someone actually cares about the details here. Then the focaccia arrived and I nearly canceled the rest of the order just to keep eating that. Fluffy, herby, golden on top, served with a little pool of good olive oil and balsamic and a sprig of rosemary for good measure. Simple bread done right is a great sign for what's coming. The corn soup absolutely stole the show for me -- silky, sweet, savory, dotted with little corn-studded toasts, chili oil, toasted nuts, and edible flowers on top. It looked like something out of a magazine and tasted even better. Genuinely one of the prettiest bowls of soup I've had in a while. The meatballs in broth with olives and fresh herbs were comforting in that "I want to eat this on a rainy day" kind of way, and the sliced beef with blood orange, trout roe, and microgreens was such a fun, unexpected flavor combo -- bright citrus against rich, tender meat, with little pops of roe for texture. Chef's kiss. And then the fry bread with braised meat stew and pickled onion at the end? Absolute knockout. That fry bread was crispy-chewy perfection, made for scooping up every last bit of that rich, saucy stew. Everything here felt thoughtful -- not overly fussy, just food made by people who genuinely enjoy feeding people well. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you're in Mission Hills and want a meal that feels like a warm hug with excellent execution, this is your spot. Make reservations ahead of time!!! Super worth it.

We were walk-ins, so seated at the bar but that was more than fine since we got to see all the actions as the dishes were being prepared. They recommend 4-6 dishes for 2 people. What a gem of a restaurant!

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

It's a long-standing, family-owned restaurant (a San Diego favorite since 1961) with that old-school red-linen vibe, warm lighting, and a cozy patio that feels perfect for a date night or a celebratory dinner. We started strong with two martinis, then shared shrimp bisque, garlic bread, and a caprese salad. Every course came out hot, paced perfectly, and plated like they actually care. I ordered the cannelloni (comforty, rich, and exactly what I wanted), and he had the linguine with clams fresh, briny, and generous on the seafood. We finished with a double espresso, which was the perfect clean little mic-drop at the end. Service was impeccable attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake. The whole experience was warm but not stiff and everything was on point from timing to ambiance. If you want traditional Italian done right in Old Town, this place absolutely delivers.

But Fort Oak, tell Open Table to chill. I used open table to reserve about 4 days in advance, but still got a TON of emails, and a ton of notifications. Including one that, if I didn't respond to it, would cancel my reservation. Then 3 follow ups asking me to review Fort Oak. Haysuse on a pogo stick, that was almost a detractor from the actual dinner. Is this dinner or a past due bill sent to collection agency? I digress. First, our waiter Johny E, phenomenal. Dude knows wine in ways that are supernatural. Spot on recommendations. Second. Put on your Pulp Fiction "5 dollar shake" face about a 50 dollar pork chop. A FIFTY DOLLAR PORK CHOP. Waiter, who had already proven he know WTF was what, simply said "we're known for it, you will probably enjoy, people rave about it". So, I mean, when in Rome. Johny wasn't lying. It's a pretty @#$#ing good pork chop. Color me amazed. You can be skeptical. You might say I was just trying to justify having spent 50 on a pork chop. Try it. Stunning. I don't know if it's the best I ever had, but I can't remember a better one. Over all, they nail the experience, the food, and wrap it up in a bow. It is always busy, so a reservation is best (I'd call vice using that @#$# open table app, I swear). Shout out about Johny - in fact, ask for him to be your waiter, he a star.
