Sparkling wine on happy hour at the bar
Sheena T.

I am so thrilled I stumbled into Dorothy's Wine Bar while in San Diego! I'll admit that I only stopped in this complex because I needed to use the restroom, but the interior was so cute and they had great happy hour prices so I decided to stay to enjoy a glass of wine (ok two) and a little snack. They offer some seating indoors, but I opted for a spot on the patio to enjoy the sunny afternoon. The happy hour wine selection was excellent and I started with a red blend that was great, then shifted to a sparkling. The bartender was wonderful and gave me a sample to try before I ordered. I had dinner plans so don't want to eat too much, but the warm tajín olives were delicious and something I need to recreate at home. I had the most beautiful afternoon here and will come back on my next visit to San Diego!

Super cute wine bar witin sea port village! It's a bit hidden but I like that as it's more quaint. It has a small inside and then a big patio with couch seating and high tops. We came for happy hour on a Friday and it was very empty but I'm sure it gets busier later. They have wine and then also some cocktails! I like the vibe and the decor and the service was nice. They have very small lite bites.

Cutest little wine bar tucked away in a cozy little corner. Inside feels like a charming little living room full of knick knacks and interesting details thoughtfully designed to transform you into a welcoming space. The server was very nice and offered us a happy hour menu from which we ordered two glasses of wine, pretzel bites and warmed olives. All were delicious! We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.

Went for a pre-dinner drink. We were greeted warmly, and the bartender shared it was happy hour. I really appreciated that, as it seems like some places try to hide their happy hour. I had one of their whites and one of the reds. Both were really good. We also had the bread as a little snack. They have a cute little inside, and a nice patio space. They have a great wine selection that changes, so you can always try something new. They do a nice job finding wines from different regions throughout the world. And if you have someone in your group who isn't a wine person, there are some beer options too. While it is in a touristy area of SD, don't let that scare you away. Dorothy's has a unique personality with friendly staff and a thoughtful menu. I look forward to going back and trying more food and wine soon!

Stopped in on an unseasonably warm spring day to be welcomed into this fabulous space by the owner, Luis. He was charming, friendly, and cared that we got our wine selection right. We enjoyed our time so much we brought friends back the next day!

Make your Happy Hour plans here! Quaint Wine Bar located in the Headquarters is a nice place to unwind with a glass of wine or cocktail. Fun atmosphere with an eclectic vibe. The outdoor patio is great for soaking up the sun or hanging with your four legged friend! The Syrah was a nice wine. We didn't ask if they had food but we think there is some Charcuterie. Next time.

I discovered this place from Eventbright. They hosted a flamenco group, who were so fun to watch. They were severely understaffed for the event. It looked like maybe 3 people were working with a crowd over 50 people. Luis is so pleasant though, and the show was captivating. It was easier to overlook the long wait time for service. Aside from that, this is a cute place to enjoy a glass of wine with small bites. The interior is small, but they have a patio that faces the center of the plaza. It was especially pretty at night with the outdoor lighting and heaters to keep you warm. Definitely worth checking out!

Great place in the Headquarters for wine and outside patio. The new owners are delightful. The service is amazing. They have entertainment on Sunday afternoons. Happy Hour is reasonable and they have light bites to order. Definitely recommend.

This wine bar has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. The ambiance is warm, stylish, and inviting--perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends. Their wine selection is seriously impressive, with a wide variety from all over the world. Whether you're into bold reds, crisp whites, or something a little off the beaten path, you'll find something to love. Their happy hour is a hidden gem--great deals on select wines that make it even more tempting to stop in. One of the best parts? If you fall in love with a bottle, you can easily take it home with you. Super convenient and always a hit when I bring one to dinner parties. Knowledgeable staff, great vibes, and a top-tier wine selection--this place is a must-visit!. Luis is aamazing!

Awesome new spot you have to try out! The owner was so nice and there are lots of options to choose from - glasses, bottles, flights, and some light bites. They have happy hour from 3-6 and tables both inside and out (with heaters and blankets). Super cute for catching up with a friend or date night!

I keep coming back for their happy hour Chard and stellar service. I love it here!

Cutest little wine bar with delicious wines and great service. Location is awesome and vibes are on point. I wish I could come here everyday! Highly recommend.

AMAZING HIDDEN GEM, loved loved loved this place. We were staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt and just happened to walk by. I think it's fairly new but had a good number of people enjoying themselves. The decor was amazing - soo unique. I took tons of pics so check them out! Great selection and very warm welcoming service. The whole vibe just relaxes you and is very comfortable. They have seating outside that could accolade both small and large groups. I think this spot would be perfect for any occasion, friends, party's, large groups, date night - 100%. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you're a tourist from out of town or a local...it will leave an impression on you. It's very convenient if you're staying at the hotel, otherwise parking in the area isn't super easy no matter where you're going downtown. I'd generally recommend taking a Lyft for anyone coming to the area for a night out, so much more convenient. It's hard to find the right words for this place, it was just special in every way. I will 1000% be back and have already mentioned it to several friends.

When I asked the bartender if that was the full menu, since it seemed odd there wasn't even a charcuterie option, his response was, "which restaurant has two menus?" Not the best start. Shortly after, when we mentioned we wanted to order a bottle, we were then handed a much more extensive wine list...which also included another small bites menu. That alone was confusing and felt inconsistent. We ordered a rosado from Spain, which we did enjoy, but overall the experience didn't match what you'd expect from a wine bar. The bottle wasn't chilled, and we noticed others in the restaurant had the same issue. Service was also lacking. The bartender never checked back on us, despite us sitting right at the bar. Overall, not the experience we were expecting. I'd recommend saving your money and going elsewhere.

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.

There's literally more dogs than people. They have sketchy chairs outside for you to wait until their heart desires. One tip for this desperate little place: time your tables to 90 mins max. Most cafes/lounges are in shopping centers and do not have the luxury of such a cool feature. I love how secure the facility is by having multiple doors to keep the cats safe and from getting outside. You can tell that the owners carefully thought out their space and the thing I appreciate the most is that you do not smell the litter boxes. I have been to a couple of cafes that smelled horribly and this is coming from someone that not only has a cat sanctuary in ATX, but I have had cats my entire life and you never smell litter box in my home or in my facility. Whiskers and Wine is a great place to unwind and spend time with beautiful kitties in need of a fur-ever home. I understand that some people do not get the concept of a cat cafe, but in order for them to provide such an incredible service to animals, they still have to pay the bills to house and feed the cats. The biggest take away is that cage free facilities are much better for the cats than when they are kept in cages at the local shelter or other animal rescues. Thank you for a great time and for all that you do to help cats in need!

For food we ordered the Soup of the Moment which was a chicken noodle soup with pesto. And we got the Chicken Monzerella Panini. The soup was served warm but not hot which I would have appreciated cuz it was a bit cold that morning. The Chicken Monzerella Panini was toasted perfectly with juicy chicken and a nice dressing inside, it was a really good panini We both ordered Bruschetta boards with 4 bruschettas. We got the Brie Apple Fig, Sweet N Spicy Peper Jam Goat Cheese, Burrata Bacon Arugula Tomato, Fresh Monzerella Tomato Basil, Prosciutto Fig Marscarpone, Smoked Salmon Pesto, Salami Pesto, and the Chef's Choice. The Brie Apple Fig was such a refreshing taste it was enjoyable bit! The Sweet N Spicy Pepper Jam Goat Cheese was good with balance flavors but the Goat Cheese wasnt for me. If you like Goat Cheese you'd love this! The Burrata Bacon Arugula Tomato was so refreshing with a nice balance of subtle citrus and really delightful Bacon on it. Just a refreshing bit! The Fresh Monzerella Tomato Basil was good. It was light and nice but simple too. If you're not looking for anything flashy, this js the one for you. The Prosciutto Fig Marscarpone was freshly and salty in al the right ways. It eas a beautiful pairing. Just wonderful. The Smoked Salmon Pesto was really nice with fried capers ans raw red onions on top, it made for a wonderful bite. The Salami Pesto was okay, honestly not to impresside but still a safe choice. And the Chef's Choice was a Mexican street corn tossed in cream and Tapatio and topped with queso fresco and more tapatio. I personally thought there was too much Tapatio but it was still a decent bruschetta. I just thought the bread was a but over toasted ans some burnt making for some hard bites. Overall very nice place and definitely recommend!
