Been here for brunch a couple times now and every time it is delicious! Love the vibes here, very cute and intimate but also lots of outdoor seating which is nice for brunch. Everyone is super nice and helpful! Would recommend for brunch everytime!!
I stopped by The Rose for the first time and had a lovely time drinking great wine and eating the biggest bowl of pea soup I've ever had. Their oysters were... meh. But everything else was great! The staff was the best part. All of them were amazing.
The Rose makes for a lovely night time scene to grab a glass of wine and have conversation. I took one of my girl friends here after our dinner and we were welcomed in. The staff let us know that the kitchen wasn't serving any food and we were aware. My review is more for the atmosphere and service, while I don't know much about wines, my choice was a very strong one. I'd definitely come back again since it's been years since I've had some of the food. It makes for a great stop after dinner or at night!
Finally got to try The Rose and it didn't disappoint! Excellent drink and food selection. Loved most everything we got. The Cabernet was a slam dunk. Empanadas, bomb. My filet mignon, delicious. Bread basket served with creamy butter, perfect. My friend also loved her oysters and split pea soup. The olive oil cake was great in flavor as well, only note would be that it was a little dry. But loved the sauce that was on it! Service was spectacular. Everyone was so nice and warming. Indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is so cute too. Absolutely will be frequenting this place more often.
Met a friend here for happy hour (happy evening? lord) - my first visit. Charming, enough light to see without squinting, an energetic volume but you can hear your conversation without straining and don't feel need to shout. All our selections were staff recommendations: bottle of sauv blanc (10/10 crisp and refreshing), Cadillac cheese board (11/10 would order every time - 2 meats, 3 cheeses, sour dough, veggies, mustard, jam, nuts, grapes, berries), Pinot Noir (10/10 light, fruity, not sweet). Even with "the heat" it was comfortable inside, perfect night to polish off a cheese board with a couple different wines. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, always available without hovering.
I have walked past The Rose many times and have been intrigued to try it out. My one regret is not trying it sooner! Came here for breakfast with a friend and luckily we had a reservation. Strongly recommend making one, since this place is always popping! Breakfast menu has a lot of options to pick from. I had the chicken chilaquiles w/oaxacan mole and my friend had the carnitas hash. Both items were savory and well-seasoned. Picking a sweet item was hard - they have so many options that sound exquisite. The server mentioned the sourdough pancakes and the bakery goods (all made with sourdough starter) but we decided to go with the pancakes. Pancakes look simple, yet they are so good and fluffly; I recommend getting them with the cardamom whipped cream. But still, so good on their own - quite possibly the best pancakes I've had in San Diego.
Came here last week and had a marvelous time! I love the natural wine selection, the whole look of the place, and honestly every employee has such great style and such an inviting personality. And the hidden bakery/café in the back? Obsessed. Truly an all‑around great South Park staple. We shared a few apps and I would definitely recommend the papas rosas (their twist on patatas bravas) and the empanada. You really can't go wrong here. Such a cute spot for date night, happy hour, girl dinner, or celebrations.
The perfect neighborhood gem for a date night or girl dinner. The oysters and empanadas were my favorite small dishes we got, and with a couple of glasses of wine this was the perfect spot to start the night. Everything is cozy and delicately curated. Plus the bar staff was so friendly and attentive!
Influenced by social media and initially came here for the Rose salad but ended up with the Carnitas Hash I sat at the bar last Sunday as I did not come with reservations. I had great service from Jasmine (hope I spelt that right) and also others working that morning that I didn't catch names. Thanks again!!! It was my first time to come here and normally I don't have brunch often outside at restaurants. I really enjoyed the Carnitas Hash and did not regret my choice. Taste was just right and egg was cooked perfect to my liking. I found a hair in it halfway through eating it. After noticing, I let the other server know and he brought it back to the kitchen and I received a new one. I was really hungry and had time to wait for a replacement but I do gotta say they handled everything professionally and just right to make me want to come back and eat again. Thanks for offering a discount and giving a gluten free brownie. I discovered another sweet treat I didn't need to know. (Secret sister will be getting my money) Overall, 100% recommend The Rose and glad I came across this spot. I highly suggest to make reservations as it was pretty booked throughout the afternoon as after eating I went next door to Secret sister which is connected to enjoy a matcha and do some work! Available bathroom use in the communal Outdoor seating available as well
Tried The Rose in South Park and already can't wait to go back. The wine was delicious, the patio was super cute, and it's dog friendly which is always a huge plus. Our waitress was honestly the highlight of the night, so fun and friendly and made the whole experience even better. My only wish is that they had fries on the menu, but the ruffles and ranch definitely did the job. Such a great neighborhood spot!
What cute place inside and a wine store too, We enjoy this beautiful decorated bunch and dinner spot with outside seating too We had a reservation for 4 after the farmer market It was a rainy day was we were all hungry We were greeted by my daughter she had a table And we order our drinks I had a chai Waters for all of us and 1 OJ And another tea also When we ordered and I had the pancakes Chilaquiles, breakfast sandwich Hash Everyone's food came but I waited at lease 8 more minutes and a server came to say they are almost ready. Okay we'll it took so long Finally the pancakes were at the table I started to eat but it took a long while Not a good impression Everyone food was good, but I had a box to go
A great time was had for our double date night. Service was great. Food was delicious. Amazing ambiance. This place is small but very nice. It's a must try!!

It has been a while, but honestly, every time I've driven pass, it's been really busy! But when of my old, and I can say this now, college friends said "it's been too long, let's meet up..." I suggested here. Warm friendly greeting when we walked in. I told the hostess we didn't have a reservation and was just coming in for a drink. She gave us a nice table inside. We ordered a bottle of prosecco. "Let's celebrate the end of the school year!" We also ordered a chicken empanada and a mushroom empanada...both very good! The pickled vegetables were delicious too! Service was wonderful as always! Again, I would be here more often but it's always busy. Although, coming back is always special! read more

Chose this place after a little walk around South Park. It was a little chilly but we sat outside with the heaters near. The table was smaller/chairs were a little uncomfortable. Service was good, very sweet waitress. We ordered an appetizer- it came with a little bit of everything from the app menu. It was $52.00. To be honest it was a little underwhelming. We did order baked clams, to it had bits of chorizo in it. It was a smidge too salty but it was still tasty. For dessert we had a brownie al a mode. Not pictured. I would come earlier next time; their breakfast/lunch and dessert menu is a lot bigger. But overall pretty good. read more

Cute brunch spot with a patio, nice option with plenty of outdoor seating in South Park. The food was okay, but unfortunately the menu is a little confusing. They have rolls of sourdough on the menu, but when we ordered them for our table they came room temp and dry. We requested butter, which they then charged us $1 for. We also asked for 6, they only had 5 left, but charged us more than 5/6 of the price listed. Just overall odd things to me to gouge people on at a nice restaurant, and it definitely dampened the experience. Drinks took a little bit to come out as well, but those were perfect (get the spritz!) read more
O k so my wife and i decided on an impromptu date afternoon and we found this place because we were interested in some oysters. It's a great little spot in South Park. Wonderful wait staff, and absolutely delicious food and cocktails. Everything that we tried was delicious and I can't wait to go back.. read more

The rose is a staple favorite of mine - the waiters are always super friendly, food is delicious, and a great spot for group dinners. The potatoes are one of my favorite items on the menu! The zucchini side dish was also really good this time and I tried the fish dish which I didn't enjoy - a little bland and lackluster so would pass on that next time! read more

The Rose has fried chicken dinner on certain Sundays starting at 4pm. The space is shared with Secret Sister bakery. Sadly the bakery closes at 2pm so no delicious sourdough bread for me this visit. It was a cold wintery day and I started my meal with some hot tea. They have some interesting flavors here and we chose the blood orange pu'er. I don't normally get ginger tea but I did like the mix of orange and ginger flavors. It looks like you get half a chicken and it's a huge dinner as I left with leftovers. Chicken was battered with a thin crunchy batter which I loved. Chicken was tender and moist. Really good chicken here. The quality of the chicken is among the best I've had. I do prefer the flavor of the batter of Cracker Barrel's fried chicken though. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very busy so he was not very attentive but he was nice in between mixing drinks. The Rose Wine Bar is a cool place. Bummer they don't serve fried chicken while Secret Sister is open. read more

Drinks were good, food was good, ambience of the cute outdoors was good! I tried the salmon crudo and it was so good! The flavors balanced together really well. I also tried a zero proof mocktail and it was so refreshing and yummy. My friends got wine and said they loved the selection as well as the cocktails! Just wish that our water was cold, we had no ice for our water and the bottles got warm because of the sun. read more

This spot has a really cute and trendy setup-definitely a great aesthetic. That said, we were a bit disappointed by the service during our visit Sunday morning. The server that morning came off as dismissive and didn't seem very open to answering questions about the menu. He was hard to hear and had a bit of an attitude, which unfortunately left a less-than-great first impression. Because of that, we decided to just try one item. On a brighter note, the seasonal toast I ordered was actually quite delicious. The white bean paste was a creative twist, and it paired really nicely with the kale, tomatoes, and sprinkle of cheese. Definitely a unique and flavorful combo! I'd consider coming back-hopefully with a different server next time, because the food and vibe have a lot of potential read more

Took a walk around South park. Sunny Sunday in Cali and the weather felt great. Plenty of people seating at the patio and still a few spots available outside, they also have indoor seating and a full liquor bar. The restaurant is casual and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Nice decorations and also wine bottles in the walls all around and available for sale. Clean floors and well spaced tables. PROS: 1. Attentive Host - Host was very prompt to acknowledge us 2. Plenty of seating, Patio and indoors - Host gave us the choice to pick in or out 3. Full Menu - Brunch (on weekends) Lunch/dinner available 4. Full Liquor -Wine bar vibes / handcrafted cocktail list/ presentation great 5. Great Waitress- attentive, quick, offered specials, delivered quick, HAPPY 6. Kitchen was fast and accurate and presentation was good CONS: 1. They Brought a glass bottle of warm water / room temp water on a sunny day (PLEASE Cold water and ice and clean bottles) 2. Cocktails are good, not great, they were a little bit off flavor wise 3. Food was meh! 4. Warmish inside We ordered: 1. the AQUEMINI (Cocktail List) Smoky, well balanced ingredients, sweet but not too much, tasty. Made with Mezcal, kind off citrusy. 2. G+T (Gin & Tonic) (Cocktail List) Presentation Beautiful, refreshing, Icey, there was a bitter aftertaste so maybe a tad bit of sweetness and this would have been the highlight of our day, it was too bitter. 3. Bread and Butter (Appetizers) Baked fresh, the inside was fresh and just perfect, with tasty fluffy butter. The crust was thick and hard to eat I almost cut my mouth when I bit. Peeled the crust and tasted good and fresh. 4. Castelvetrano Olives (Appetizers) Marinated in Oil and topped with chili flakes. This is something more of a bite with a glass of wine. But it didn't work as an appetizer for us. However this was good. Very Good. Tasty, and a very generous portion. 5. Paloma (Custom Cocktail) Not Good. This Paloma tasted like a glass of bourbon. It really was made as the opposite of a Paloma. 6. Chocolate Pot the Crème. Beautiful presentation, tasty, if you like extra rich dark chocolate this is for you. We decided to stick with drinks and appetizers as most things we tried were a little bit or far off flavor wise. My take on this place is more of a wine bar with plenty of selections, Okay Cocktails and some small bites. We are always open to trying more of their food and drinks in the future. Service - 5 stars Food - 3 stars Presentation - 4.5 stars Drinks - 2.5 Stars Cleanliness- 4.5 Stars read more

I visited for the first time on a sunny Saturday evening, and the weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio. Even without a reservation, we were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. I tried the Agua Chisme and the G+T cocktails, and both were super refreshing. But the real star of the night was the ceviche. It was so unique and bursting with flavor. Definitely a must-try! read more

Small place in South Park filled with good drinks, lovely wine list, and very attentive service! Loved having a small gathering here with my girls to catch up over a plate of oysters and some appetizers. Everything was filling. I was quite surprised that the sourdough bread plate came out with fluffy sourdough and crispy sourdough bread. Definitely a must with the generous serving of butter. So easy to make a reservation and I would definitely come back here again for a quick hang out to catch up with some friends over Amazing drinks. Afterwards, you can probably walk around South Park and grab drinks elsewhere or even dessert. Only bummer is that it's street parking . read more
