I have been wanting to try this wine bar as it looks super cute. They have a nice patio area and then a decently sized indoor dining area. We came on Friday around 6 and were able to sit at the bar tables. I recommend reservations if you want the patio. I love the ambience and the vibe is super cute. They have a large wine list so definitely a perfect for a wine lover. The only food we got was the chatted octopus. It was tasty however I wouldn't say it had as much octopus in it that I wanted and they charged a decent amount for it so that's my only complaint. I will have to come back and try other food as it looked good!

Stopped by here with dinner and absolutely loved it. Definitely recommend a reservation as it filled up really quickly. Perfect vibe for girls night, family diner or date night. Pasha was our server and he was incredibly attentive. We ordered: -vegetable ceviche (so fresh and flavorful) -beef tartare (creamy and so flavorful) -gnocchi (amazing) -octopus (other flavors overpowered the octopus, would skip next time) -steak and frites (highly recommend) Overall, will definitely be back!

If you're planning to celebrate a birthday here sadly I do NOT recommend. My cousin has been here before and had recommended this place she said the food was delicious. Coming from out of town and it was my birthday. I made reservations for party of 8 on a Sunday 5:15p. We arrived 5mins prior to our reservation the hostess that the front checked us in. We had brought a cake and she mentioned there was a $35 cake cutting fee and we said that was fine. As we were seated our server came over and brought over menus. We told her we had a cake and she then proceeded to tell us there was a $35 cake cutting fee again we told her that was fine and she took the cake to the back. They weren't busy at all during our arrival. It took some time for everyone to decide what we wanted. She came back to check on us asked if we had questions. She talked about the $2 Oyster Sunday special. Few mins later another person came by asked if we were ready and he went over the menu. He said the plates are shareable and recommended ordering more than one on some of the dishes since we're a larger party. He took our order we each ordered a plate to share. Order: Ahi tuna, beef tartare, bone marrow, spinach gnudi, Italian dumplings, pork belly, 6 of their oysters, charred eggplant dip with house potato chips and patatas braves finca style. Drinks: 2 raging cyders. Our orders came out staggered, just whenever the food is was ready. Our drinks did take a while to arrive 20mins has passed when our server came back to clean some plates out and I had asked if she can check on the drinks. The food for the most part was really good. My favorites were the spinach gnudi, the Italian dumplings were so soft and creamy and the pork belly were delicious. Service on the other hand was a bit slow. There were period of time where we were just waiting for our server to come. We asked our server we were ready for the cake and she said she would bring it out. But then proceeded to help other tables another 10-15mins passed and she's still walking round helping others. The other male server who has been helping us came and asked if we wanted any dessert. We told him we brought and cake and we were waiting on it. He had no idea about the cake so then we waited some more. My cousin spoke to the hostess at the front who we encounter first about the cake to express how disappointed she was, their staff had ZERO communication between each other. Finally they brought it out and they cut the cake. After the cake business we were waiting again for someone to check on us as we wanted to ask for the check. No one came back so my cousin flagged another worker to ask for the check. They came back with our check and comped the cake cutting fee as well as the 2 drink we ordered. Overall most of the dishes we ordered were good but the whole experience and service was quite terrible. The staff wasn't communicating with each other. We told 3 different staff about the cake not one of them communicated with each other and it's pretty outrageous to pay a $35 cake cutting fee with that type of experience. Glad we didn't have to. The place is beautiful and clean. We were a bit disappointed probably won't be returning. Not sure what happened that night but my cousin is local and would never have recommended a place if she didn't think highly of it.

    Patatas bravas

Had an overall great dining experience at finca! Our waitress was super friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. We tried the patatas bravas, stracciatella, and Char grilled chicken thigh and it was all delicious. The stracciatella was a favorite - it was a perfect balance of fall flavors with the sweet and crunchy granola along with the persimmons and beets. I also really loved the green sauce on the patatas bravas, a nice twist on the classic red sauce. They also have a great selection of wines to choose from. The only thing I'd note is that the inside doesn't feel super warm and inviting based on the layout but enjoyed everything nonetheless!

My husband and I came here for a business meeting to celebrate our sixth year anniversary of our skin clinic, and met our rep there for dinner. I had read about Finca and how Chef Bower was from Juniper & Ivy. We made reservations through OpenTable, and were greeted by our server, Gia, who was friendly and helpful with guiding us thru the drinks and food menu. We had the sourdough bread, poached shrimp (delicious!), potato dumplings, patatas bravas, and shared the steak frites entree. I liked most things, and we all agreed the poached shrimp, dumplings, and steak were our faves. I'd say the patatas were okay, but a bit disappointed maybe due to hype. I had the Italian red as rec'd by Gia, and my husband had the sangria. The chocolate mousse like dessert was yum! Overall, would recommend this place! The decor is very cool, maybe mid-century chic?

A cute spot in North Park across from Tribute. Come hope Happy Hour and sit at the bar. Play the wine tasting game. Closest to the actual wine characteristics wins a bottle. Get the house made chips with the eggplant dip. Definitely try the poached shrimp with olives. Such a fresh taste. I got the gin and tonic on HH. It was heavy on the tonic and light on the gin. But overall cute spot and I will be back. Prepare to hunt for parking.

Such a cute chill spot in North Park. Sat at the bar and had a glass of wine and the basque cheesecake which is a must! The staff was very friendly and had asked us if we wanted to put in any food order since we got there late and the kitchen was about to close. I had asked for recommendations for red wines sharing that I enjoy Petite Syrahs, and was given a taste of Donkey & Goat 'twinkle' which was delish and ended up getting a glass of it. A must for a chill night out or date night!

I visited this spot with my girl friend on a Friday night! We had a reservation through their website, I'd recommend making one since it was so busy! I know their menu changes often so this review for was our experience in January. We ordered two glasses of the moscato, which was actually very well balanced and not sweet at all. For food we ordered the octopus, skirt steak, and sardine salad. 3 plates was enough for 2 people but it is pretty pricey! The food was good, I liked the tomato sauce with the octopus and how the skirt steak was cooked. I wasn't a huge fan of the sardine salad but I wanted to try something different-- it had a strong relish flavor. Overall the ambiance and service here was great! The owners all made sure we were fine and there were many celebrations happening around us-- birthdays, anniversaries, etc. located in a great spot in north park if you wanted to get a drink nearby.

    Potatas bravas & Italian dumplings

SERVICE: 5/5 The service was great. Gio was our server, and she was friendly and had great recommendations. AMBIANCE: 4/5 We sat outside because we brought our pup, but apparently, their propane delivery did not arrive that day, so there were no heaters. They did hand out blankets, but it was still freezing, and I noticed other reviews gave commented on how cold it was. DRINKS: 5/5 I got the blackberry aperitif as a spritz and finca flip, and both were great. The Finca Flip tastes a bit like if tiramisu was a drink and had some orange zest. I actually am not a coffee drinker too but still liked it so that's saying a lot. FOOD: 3/5 We had the following in order of my favorites: -Italian dumplings - I definitely recommend these! Probably my favorite! -Sunchokes - 10/10 recommend - basically mini artichokes with truffle seasoning! So good! -Potatas Bravas - Definitely recommend. Good twist on the traditional version (although I prefer the traditional style) -Brisket - Server with a coleslaw topping and a savory bread pudding. As my husband and I always say, "I'm glad I tried it but wouldn't get it again!" -Octopus - Just okay. It is a warn style octopus but is served with tomatoes and was a bit too acidic for my liking -Dessert - Chocolate Pot de Creme - Good but not great and extremely rich (made me feel sick). The Snickerdoodle served with it was just okay too, and I LOVE a good Snickerdoodle, but this was not it. Overall, I was disappointed with the dessert selection here. Seemed like dessert was an afterthought. WARNING: If you asked us as we left the restaurant how we felt about the food, we would have told you that we really enjoyed it and would definitely be back. 24 hours later, however, we will NEVER return. I hate to take away a star for this because maybe it wasn't the food, maybe it was us, but it happened to both my husband and me, and I would not feel right about failing to warn others...Our stomachs were soooo messed up after eating here. Horrible stomachaches for 20 hours, many "difficult trips to the bathroom," and oh good Lord, the smell of our bedroom all night...They could offer us a return trip entirely for free, and I would never return to avoid enduring what I went through and having our house smell that way again...

Finca wine bar was an absolute delight! Their tapas were so flavorful and well portioned. We ordered so many yummy things, and the hangar steak and lamb chorizo were my favorite dishes. Thank you Matt for being such an awesome bartender! Came in with zero expectations- our group was across the street grabbing beers and we saw that this location had a bar so we decided to cross the street. We ordered the paper crane which was recommended by Matt as we were looking for a whiskey drink and WOW! Summer in a cup. This is delicious! Toki Japanese whisky, melon liqueur, yuzu soda, lemon, frozen watermelon balls- fantastic drink and awesome recommendation.

    Hamachi crudo

Tried this restaurant for the first time, the service and ambiance were ok but the food was awful. The hamachi crudo was so bad we struggled to finish it, so many flavors competing with each other it felt like my mouth was having a seizure. The patatas bravas were bland and mushy. The Italian dumplings would have been good, but they were served to us cold, as if they had been taken out of the fridge and not reheated. Hopefully they were just having an off-night, but I definitely would not come back.

When I thinka Finca (see what I just did everybody?!) I'm not sure what I'm supposed to, well, think of. Is it a wine bar? A wine club? A tapas restaurant? A science project? A used-car auction? I went not too long ago and had a decent time there. There was a lot to like and there were a couple of things I didn't agree with, but it's found its audience, and I'm happy for them. There have been many attempts at wine bars in North Park over the years and they come and then they go and then no one remembers them. But Finca wants to change that and with beer sales dropping and wine sales picking up, there's a good chance their mission will be accomplished. Unfortunately, I went on a Wednesday, and the 'maitre'd' Alexander explained to me very diplomatically that there were no seats at the bar - some wine thing was happening, I thinka - but he and his exuberant personality managed to make me feel welcome just the same. He's a find, no question, and Finca is lucky to have him. I ended up sitting inside - it was cold that night and I was afraid my nipples would freeze and fall off. I sat by myself at a table for two towards the back of the restaurant. There were a few other couples seated already and throughout the night a couple of sturdy men kept checking on the guests. Whether they were managers or the Mafia, I don't know, but they were a felt presence. (Though they both dressed very handsomely, I'm not sure in this type of laid-back environment (in the most laid-back of laid-back cities) warrants such formality. I started off with their house-made Vermouth because you certainly don't find that at very many places. It was good. I don't know when I'll have my next opportunity to try home-made vermouth, but now that I have, I at least have something to compare it to. The tapas menu is expansive and it was difficult narrowing down my choices but I ended up getting the Beef Tartare and the Bone Marrow with the Red Pepper Jelly. The Bone Marrow was exactly what you would expect it to be rich, gelatinous, and never enough. But the jam gave it that oomph it needed and the two thick sourdough slices provided some crunch. The Beef Tartare was less of the traditional kind and more of the flatbread variety. And in all fairness to my server, he did point that out before placing the order. But, I don't know. I like new. I like different. But do it without turning into yet another restaurant serving flatbread. Don't get me wrong, the pickled green beans and mustard seeds worked. But I wanted to be transported to Sevilla, Spain not Columbus, Ohio. The bottled wine list is HUGE and apparently there's more if you can't find anything among so many very interesting choices. But I've never quite understood why places that serve food have wine lists that are so much more expensive. At least have a couple of choices at or under $35. (Yes, yes, I realize it's a tapas bar and because tapas, by their very nature, are smaller plates, you pay less than a full meal. But I mean, c'mon. I'm not going to order a $100 bottle of wine to drink with my $15 pork bellies nor my $16 bone marrow, for that matter.) And only four reds wines by the glass? That's, um, basic. Given how much consideration was put into the tapas menu, I was really disappointed by the wine options (though orange wines have been popular ever since The New York Times featured an article on them, they can be found on this menu, too.) My server was attentive, and the dining room was slow so he spent a little more time with me than I think he might have had they been busy. And while his service was on-point and he was very likeable, I wouldn't mention my speech impediment, whatever reasons a server might have. My thinking is that a) it's obvious b) people know what to do if they don't understand what I've said and c) it felt slightly awkward, almost, and I say this with the utmost respect, panderous. As I made my way back out into the increasingly frigid temperatures - nipples tucked safely under my coat - Alexander was sure to say goodbye and welcome me back. The question now is: Will I? With so many interesting food items and so little reasonably priced wines to choose from, I thinka Finca may not be my next choice to eat and drinka.

Is this the type of place where you can select any bottle of wine from their retail shop and take it to the restaurant to just pay the retail price plus a corkage fee?

We are not that type of location. We have a bottle shop with retail pricing available to-go, and have a wine list with normal restaurant pricing for when guests are dining on site.

Most cafes/lounges are in shopping centers and do not have the luxury of such a cool feature. I love how secure the facility is by having multiple doors to keep the cats safe and from getting outside. You can tell that the owners carefully thought out their space and the thing I appreciate the most is that you do not smell the litter boxes. I have been to a couple of cafes that smelled horribly and this is coming from someone that not only has a cat sanctuary in ATX, but I have had cats my entire life and you never smell litter box in my home or in my facility. Whiskers and Wine is a great place to unwind and spend time with beautiful kitties in need of a fur-ever home. I understand that some people do not get the concept of a cat cafe, but in order for them to provide such an incredible service to animals, they still have to pay the bills to house and feed the cats. The biggest take away is that cage free facilities are much better for the cats than when they are kept in cages at the local shelter or other animal rescues. Thank you for a great time and for all that you do to help cats in need!

Insanely chill vibe, which I so appreciated. Very impressive southern Italian-focused wine list…read more Ben is an outstanding server, patient and v knowledgable. Creaminess of the buffalo mozzarella cut through the acidic radicchio. Hints of mint. I was not expecting to love this dish as much as I did. The meatballs were excellent. The award-winning Seafood carbonara was pricey but worth it, kinda life changing actually. Deep, rich seafood flavor in an uni-based sauce. One of the better pasta dishes I've had in a long while.

After ordering a bottle of wine and to make my life really easy, I opted for the (forgive me for forgetting the actual name) set menu. That was a wise decision that took all of the thinking out of the experience for me and allowed me to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. The food seemingly kept coming, and coming, and coming. The portions were not the size of an entree but also weren't lacking in size one bit. Everything that hit the table was a big win and I really liked how thought out and well-timed everything was. Our server was so damn cool, casual yet informative, and really rounded out the experience for me. A staff member can make or break a dining experience and in this case she made everything taste better and better with each and every course. Once again, to have lived so nearby and never tried Cori is a true sin, one that I won't let happen again. Cori made a fan out of me and because of that, I'll certainly be returning sooner than later.

The restaurant is really worth all the hype, I think they've made it even more decorated in the past few years. We made a reservation but it probably wasn't necessary on a Tuesday night, it was pretty slow. We got two caesar's (one with chicken, one without) and a truffle flatbread. The caesar was good - very fresh lettuce and flavorful croutons but quite salty. I might do light dressing next time. We stayed for a few hours and chatted and used the trivia cards at the table for a make-your-own trivia night. I'd recommend this spot to anyone! I like that it is out of the fray of 30th street which let us find parking pretty easily.

This was a disappointing visit for sure. We had 4:30pm reservations for Valentine's Day w/a…read morepre-fixe menu. We were seated almost exactly at 4:30. Great! But then we sat for over 20 minutes before anyone stopped by our table at all. No water, no drinks, no questions, nothing. Finally I caught a server's attention & she asked if we had been helped yet. We informed her that we hadn't and she just said "oh no" and she'd be right back. I assumed it was to go grab our server, but she returned herself to wait on us. No apology or anything. She asked us if we wanted to start with drinks (we did) and I asked if we could go ahead and put our order in for the appetizers to get things moving. She told us no, we could not. That we'd have to wait and order everything together (all 3 courses) at the same time. Really? So we just hurried up and quickly picked our dessert just so we could get an appetizer order in. Then we watched the 2 tables next to us order course by course. We assumed that at least that meant the food would come out very quickly, as the entire order was already in. Nope. We sat for some time waiting for our entrée after we were done with our appetizer, and our dessert took so long to come out that we finally flagged our server down just asked for her to prep it to go before she brought it out. We were given with a comment card to fill out and, unbelievably, all the selections were already filled in. Every box marked "Excellent" and a "Yes" on would we recommend this place. The server remarked that we could win $50 if we "filled out" the rest of it. That's about as close to buying reviews as I think you can get, imo. Her parting words to us were, "Hopefully you guys come back another night and you can get waited on right away." No, thank you. Food was nothing spectacular, but it was fine and the only reason this isn't a 1 star review.
