I love Crafted Coupe. You can tell this is an industry bar--the drinks are consistently good, but the prices are still reasonable, which is getting harder and harder to find these days. Their happy hour is fantastic, and the bartenders are always friendly, chill, and make everyone feel welcome. It's one of my favorite places to stop for a drink before heading out to dinner. The vibe is unpretentious, the cocktails are well made, and it's just an easy place to relax and hang out. I'm genuinely sad to hear they're leaving this location and really hope they're able to reopen in a new space soon. San Diego could use more places like this, not fewer. read more

Great low-key spot in North Park. Service was understated, but friendly. We went on Monday so it was hard to get in with Caffe Calabria closed. We had to walk down the alley from Lincoln or University to reach the entrance versus thru the front door of Caffe Calabria on 30th. It is confusing and they could use more signage since it really isn't a true speakeasy. Drinks on HH, all night on Monday, we're delicious and only $8-10 on select cocktails. A happy hour that goes until 7pm?!? Yes please! Cocktails are $8-$10 (or could be up to $12) on their HH menu. If you order drinks here, you can order a pizza and bring it in from the restaurant. You cannot bring their cocktails to the restaurant though. It tends to be warmer on the first floor. They have a small outdoor space which is great if it's too dark, too hot, or too loud. The second floor is surprisingly cooler than the first floor they also have a nice patio upstairs. There are TVs and if there's a padres game, it'll be on but it'll be crowded. Love this new NYC style bar that opened up in the back of Caffe Calabria. It is not so much a speakeasy, quite easy to find - more an addition to the restaurant. The entire area is clean and modern. The menu is robust with affordable drinks (about $13 which YES is affordable for SD). We didn't notice the upstairs until our last 20 min in the bar and wish we had seen it sooner! It's cozier. Long overdue (and unfortunately too late) review but this has been my favorite bar for about two years! The staff are always awesome and make delicious drinks. The bar is very cozy (and can get quite busy). The best part is the upstairs area where there are so many cute and cozy places to sit and a great patio. I was able to celebrate my birthday here and the team was so supportive and helpful. This is such a great space for the community and I am very sad to hear about the closure. read more

What a vibey little speakeasy! My work had planned a North Crawl bar hopping night and we ended the night here, We were able to reserve a corner of the place for 15 of us. We entered through the alley entrance and the space is small & intimate. Lots of nice seating around, and even an upstairs area with even more. Upstairs, there is a small balcony that overlooks the restaurant front where you can also access the speakeasy. The drinks are yummy, I got the White Linen which has vodka, elderflower, cucumber, lime, sugar, and soda -- HIGHLY recommend, it is so refreshing! Went after an improv show at Finest City Improv(see review) and this was the perfect spot. Ordered two of the Gilden Rush(Evan Williams Bourbon, Honey and Lemon) and it was delightful. Scratched that whiskey sour itch that my teammate my was craving and they graciously bought for me(thank you). The other drinks our teammates ordered looked fun as well. One had mint and cucumber and later in the evening caught my team member trying to fish the cucumber out to devour since the drink was so good lol. I'm guilty of doing that with the maraschino cherry in an old fashioned. They have an upstairs which is a little more chill than downstairs. Dark lighting which is good for relaxing or a date(lots of people were on dates it looked like). The bathrooms upstairs were clean and private. They had a giant mirror which a lot of people were taking selfies in(I didn't opt for a selfie because I was having a BAD hair day). Service was wonderful and quick even though it was busy. Man oh man. Walked through Caffe Calabria to get to this place. They had a room with a vault and we thought it was part of the decor. We quickly found out that it was their office, but it would be super cool if they made it part of their restaurant. The seating was very comfortable, but looked so hard. It was a nice surprise. The layout is nice and furniture is modern. The side tables are also nice. There's a individual panel separator door that is in front of the vault to separate the caffe from Crafted Coupe. The people that work here are cool and quick to make your drinks nice and strong. The best part about this experience was that they were playing good music! My BFF and I ordered some passion drink that had mezcal in it and it was great. My other friends ordered a drink but I forgot what he ordered. I did learn that you can bring the pizza from the caffe over to Crafted Coupe, you just can't bring over the drinks. And some girl brought in her Mexican food. I found this hidden gem in North Park! Tucked away at the back of Cafe Calabria is this speakeasy. I'm always on the lookout for happy hours lasting later than 6pm and this one lasts until 7pm! Drinks during Happy Hour is super affordable below 10 dollars! Their signature espresso martini is included! I can see why people are raving about this cocktail. My personal fave is the White Linen. Super refreshing. If you're hungry, then head to Cafe Calabria and have yourself some delicious pizza. What I love about this place is the abundance of areas to hang out in. They have the seating next to the downstairs bar, a front door patio, upstairs seating and an upstairs patio. My personal fave is the small room upstairs overlooking Cafe Calabria. PM entry pro tip: if you arrive at Caffè Calabria and it's closed, you can still get into Crafted Coupe like this: walk down to University, turn left, enter the wide yet still sketchy-looking alley to your left and walk 1/3 way down until you see the Chase bank signs. Then the Calabria back entrance will be to your left. Now that that's out of the way, get ready for a great speakeasy experience. This multi-level bar has gorgeous lighting and thoughtfully arranged seating nooks throughout to accommodate parties of all sizes. Drinks are priced below average for the area, and pours are generous. Music selection is chill and adds to the relaxed ambiance. The bartenders are extra friendly, will make any custom drink, and seem to know everyone's name, fo real! Perhaps I came on a bad night The vibe was great, the establishment is clean, but my first experience here was less than enjoyable. When I first approached the bar I was met by disgruntled customers that had been waiting for an extended amount of time for the drinks. I suffered the same fate. The coziness of the location is a nice touch and enjoyed how I felt like I was in a whole different place. Plenty of seating on the ground floor and outside and then there is a beautiful upstairs with even more seating and just a smidge bit bright room (at least when I went on a Friday night it was) along with a second bar upstairs.
