    Wine for tasting
    Jennifer C.

First time coming to clos for an event and it was so fun! It was a wine tasting event in their basement. It was my first time seeing the expanded space. For being a tasting event I was worried it would feel really crowded but they spaced out people going into the event and the actual tables were well situated so it didn't feel crowded. They also provided jamon and cheese which was a really nice surprise! The downstairs space also sells some snacks and homegoods. There was a variety of chips and popcorn, tinned fish, chili oil, cook books, etc. it was fun to look around while we were tasting.

This is the epitome of neighborhood wine tasting room perfection! Clos is located in the heart of University Heights. It's a thoughtfully curated tasting room filled with unique bottles of bubbles, whites, oranges and reds. Nothing boring here. You can enjoy a class on the sunny patio or take a seat inside of the tasting room. Either way, you're in for a treat. Food options are minimal but they have some nice cheese boards. You can also start or end here and grab a bite in the nearby area. The staff here is so personable! They're there to serve you something you love and took the time to understand what we were looking for. Our server found a matching bottle that perfectly fit what we wanted! It's like she could read our mind! I'm pretty picky and rarely compelled to buy a bottle but I couldn't help grabbing two oranges. I love a unique orange and they had two that were just so special I couldn't resist. The prices were also great and so accessible. Absolutely obsessed with this little wine room!

Our server was super friendly - made great wine recommendations. There's a tinned fish shop in the basement of the store with an extremely wide variety of tinned fish you can purchase and have served right then and there with olives, crackers, etc. I loved that interactive aspect of our experience here!

Clos has my heart! I've been coming here since they first opened and it's one of my staple spots to bring friends or visitors for a casual drink and some apps (or girl dinner). The staff is so knowledgeable about the wine and the charcuterie boards never miss! They also have non-alcoholic wine options. I already can't wait to go back!

Cute lil gem. A wine shop for natural and minimal-intervention wines. They have wines from everywhere. They serve wine by the glass too and there's also food to snack on. The staff is very knowledgeable and would love to tell you everything you want to know about wine.

A cute little wine shop with really nice people. Chilled here for a few hours with a couple of friends in the afternoon and had a great time just drinking wine and eating some snacks. They offer a variety of tinned/canned seafood including octopus and snails. Service was great. Just a heads up there is a $10 dollar corkage free. There was plenty of street parking available.

My friend and I went to Clos Wine Shop on a Saturday evening with our two dogs. I had read the positive reviews of this wine shop, and we always love to go to places that are dog friendly. The shop was packed on a Saturday night. We had planned to sit on the patio but it was full, so luckily our furry friends were welcomed indoors. The place was small but comfortable. There is a self-service station for water, a few tables, and a small bottle shop with other treats to buy, primarily tinned fish. Anyway, for a small shop, I felt they had a decent selection of wines by the glass: 5 reds and 5 whites. The service was friendly and very good. They were able to give us a good description of the wines on the menu. My friend tried a couple of the whites and found one she really liked. I enjoyed the Syrah Blend. However, I do wish that they had something fuller and dryer that I could have had for my next glass. We shared a cheese board and a bag of the black truffle chips. We were hungry so I do wish there had been a bit more cheese or charcuterie to choose from, though the truffle chips were delicious. I purchased a few bags to take with me. My friend bought a bottle of wine that she had been enjoying to take with her. I noticed that if you buy a bottle from them and drink it there, they charge a corkage fee. There may be some regulation I don't understand, but I never pay a corkage feel when I buy wine at a restaurant or winery. For that reason, I would probably drink by the glass only when going there. All in all, we had a lovely evening there and I would definitely go back to see which wines are on their menu next time.

Outside entrance at night. Bright and comfy.

This place is really cool, I popped in today to check it out. I ended up purchasing a couple bottles of wine and chocolates. I really enjoyed the knowledge of Margo, who was running the place. She knew exactly what I needed. They have a nice patio and heaters to enjoy the bottle of wine on site. They have some olives, canned fish, chocolates, etc available as well. I would have liked to seen some fresh cheeses or fruits available. I would have purchased to enjoy with my wine. All in all, satisfied and will be coming back for all my wine purchases. Cheers !

Clos is just the best. My friends and I love coming here for a snack and glass of wine. The porch is so cozy. The staff is so knowledgeable and energetic. Also such a great spot to grab a housewarming / birthday wine gift!

This is my favorite neighborhood spot and everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine options. I just started to become a wine drinker, and they always knew what to recommend. Always had a great bottle to take home! I love the location and the wine selections. Can't wait to keep coming back! And to the sweet owners, we appreciate you so much for bringing life to the neighborhood! See you soon :)

    Charcuterie - Yum!

Loved this place! It is the cutest locally owned wine shop in our area (university heights). You can buy wine to go or buy a bottle or glass to drink there. If you buy a bottle, there is a $10 corkage fee. They are super knowledgeable and friendly! 2 tables inside and seating outside on the front porch. Very cute! They have a few food items as well. Tinned fish and charcuterie, among a few other items. We got a charcuterie with 2 cheeses and two meats. It was so cute and perfect with the bottle of wine we chose. We will definitely be back!

Awesome ambiance with a fantastic variety of wines. Great light gourmet dishes that pair very well with their wines. Service is excellent and the staff and owners are super efficient and attentive. Really recommend this place!

I love their selection of tin fish.

I love going here for their tin fish. The workers are also super great with recommending bottles. I just hate the corkage fee.

When I asked the bartender if that was the full menu, since it seemed odd there wasn't even a charcuterie option, his response was, "which restaurant has two menus?" Not the best start. Shortly after, when we mentioned we wanted to order a bottle, we were then handed a much more extensive wine list...which also included another small bites menu. That alone was confusing and felt inconsistent. We ordered a rosado from Spain, which we did enjoy, but overall the experience didn't match what you'd expect from a wine bar. The bottle wasn't chilled, and we noticed others in the restaurant had the same issue. Service was also lacking. The bartender never checked back on us, despite us sitting right at the bar. Overall, not the experience we were expecting. I'd recommend saving your money and going elsewhere.

Mabel's has been on my list for a while I just hadn't made it in yet. The soft, intimate lighting and lively crowd pulled me in like a moth to a very chic flame. The hostess was warm and welcoming, and since the place was buzzing, we opted for the makeshift patio seating prime people watching territory. Inside, I noticed the layout has two distinct rooms, with one acting as a waiting area where guests can mingle and sip a drink before being seated. A nice touch if you enjoy a little pre-dinner social hour. Somewhere between scanning the menu and spotting all the seafood options, dessert quietly exited the chat. We decided to lean into the moment and see what the hype was about. After a quick chat with our waiter, we went with the octopus skewer and grilled swordfish. Now, fun fact I completely missed: it's a gin bar. This realization came after I confidently ordered a dirty martini like I knew what I was doing so I pivoted and reordered a glass of wine. Smooth recovery... mostly. The octopus was nicely cooked tender with a good char and the swordfish was... fine. Not bad, just not something I'll be dreaming about at 2 a.m. Overall, the dishes were executed well, but flavor-wise, they could've used a little more personality. A pinch of salt might've gone a long way. That said, I know their menu changes frequently, so I'd absolutely come back and give it another shot. And next time, I might actually stick to my original plan... you know, dessert.
