Our first time here. Loved the service and food!!! We prefer the ambiance near the bar area than the quiet dining on the other side. All the food we ordered were all delicious! If you're into seafood, this is worth trying when you're in Coronado, San Diego

My mom and I love biking to The Brigantine for happy hour. $5 glasses of wine + great small plate deals. It's such a fun, relaxed spot to unwind after a ride. Good food, good prices (especially for Coronado), and a great atmosphere. Definitely a nice place to sit outside in the sun across from the dell! Service is always great as well, quick, friendly and attentive.

We came here just in time for happy hour. Our waitress, Riley, was super cool and funny. She was able to put in our order just as happy hour was wrapping up. We sat in the bar area at the oyster bar. The whole bar section is open seating. The fish tacos are a must have! The calamari is a go to for us as well! The wagyu sliders were ok. I probably wouldn't get those again. Atmosphere is laidback. We enjoyed our evening. Will come back if ever down in Coronado again!

When visiting Coronado Beach and you're in the mood for seafood, I highly recommend the Brig. The seafood is amazing and made with the freshest ingredients. The staff was exceptional and very knowledgeable about the area. The shrimp cocktail is great way to start while you're waiting for your meal. The calamari is a popular dish but it was not as good as many other places I have been to in the past.

Happy hour is the best time to go. Will say I had never had a good Pacifico draft like I have here. So crisp and cold . Appetizers are perfect if your not trying to have a full course meal. Lastly the atmosphere overall is a great place to unwind and enjoy your drink.

This was a classy place for brunch on San Diego's Coronado Island. The area is a bit more upscale with a great view of the water and close proximity to the hotel and neighborhoods for walking and exploring. However, inside this place, there was a more laid-back bar ambience and some good but fried dishes. We Had the Shishito peppers and the crispy shrimp, which I would recommend. We also had a classic salad and some other shareable items that weren't as memorable for me. Service was efficient. The servers know who their regulars are, which is okay. Plenty of great drink options, but not the vibe we were going for that day. Cute interior, comfy seating, clean overall, with nice decorations. Parking was relatively easy, but I would expect more difficulty during peak hours. We came in the early afternoon so we just missed the lunch crowd and were there too early to compete with the dinner patrons.

We came back here twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times were great experiences! We sat in the bar area both times - the tables and bar stools in that area are all open seating and we didn't have to wait. Both times I got the Fish n Chips. Yum! Fresh tasting fish, healthy portion provided, with the perfect crispy outside. The fries were also delicious! I like that you can do the bar portion with 2 pieces, or the lunch/dinner portion with more. My husband got the Fish n Chips during our first visit and the Fish Tacos our second visit - he enjoyed both meals. During our visit for dinner we split the Mud Pie - it was a great choice! The service was great - both our waitresses were very friendly and attentive. It's clean inside and the ambiance was great! This is definitely one of the best options for food on Coronado.

Was in San Diego for a long weekend with Wifey a couple weeks ago and my only responsibility was to choose dinner locations. My seafood diner choice was Brigantine, which was within walking distance of our hotel. Seated us inside but with a beautiful view of the sunset. Place isn't fancy for your attire. Nice shorts and a polo is perfect. We had a reservation (and it was a little early) si we were seated immediately. Waiter was Billy - who was super friendly and helped us choose our entrees and drinks. I started with a Cucumber jalapeño margarita and Wifey had the Pomegranate sangria. The drinks were great...and mine was pretty strong. For starters we tried the Baked oysters a couple on the half shell. For our entrees Wifey had the Crab stuffed shrimp and grits and I, surprisingly, chose a pretty healthy option of Wok seared ahi and vegetables. The stuffed shrimp meal was very rich (I got one of them), but delicious. My meal was fantastic and I was completely full at the end of it.

Food is delicious! The calamari, Seafood Cobb, Parmesan Crusted San Dabbs, Blackened Salmon fantastic!!! Service from beginning to end is wonderful. The ambience is so familiar, casual and sea faring classic. Brigantine is a nice restaurant for families, dates, friends to enjoy. Don't forget classic cocktails.

Really cute restaurant! I went on a Sunday for lunch time and it was pretty empty so we were seated quickly. Fish tacos were good, but the cheddar cheese didn't go too well with it. I also had the oysters rock which were a bit TOO overloaded with bacon. Overall a decent lunch option while in the area!

Taco Tuesday - supplemental to regular menu
    Jennifer B.

We had such a great experience at The Brigantine in Coronado! Their happy hour is truly one of the best in town. We enjoyed a half dozen Blue Point oysters (outside of happy hour) and they were excellent--fresh and briny. Happy hour itself was a standout, with $7 drafts, select cocktails, and wines, plus a variety of food options that were both generous in portion and full of flavor--all for just $7. You can't beat that value. We also came by on Taco Tuesday, and wow--the tacos were only $6 each, but they were large, loaded, and absolutely delicious. The Brigantine is a great place to eat any time--the food is always delicious--but the happy hour deals with their generous and flavorful offerings are an extra perk. Overall, fantastic food, great drinks, and unbeatable specials. Definitely the best happy hour spot in Coronado! We sat at the bar. Inviting and casual - Check it out !

Came here for happy hour. Service was pretty slow. All of the happy hour foods were very mid. Margarita was super sweet. The restaurant is in a nice spot on Orange ave caddy corner to the Del.

    Fresh Steamed Clams

This was a casual location that had a diverse menu with mostly seafood fare. There was a large bar upon entering and it also included open air seating it seemed. The service was appreciated as the food came out in a timely manner. Three dishes were ordered, the crispy brussels sprouts, crispy coconut macadamia shrimp, and the fresh steamed clams. The brussels sprouts had pieces of pork belly, Spanish chorizo, blue cheese, and salted caramel. The sprouts had a great cook to them and contrasted nicely with the blue cheese and salted caramel. The caramel on the meats was unique too. There were plenty of the meats present, which was nice to see. The shrimp had a ponzu sauce. There were six extremely large and crispy shrimp tails. The sauce was not too overpowering, and it stuck on the shrimps without falling off, which was ideal. The clams had chorizo, shallots, garlic, and lemongrass in a red curry-coconut broth. There were also pieces of toasted baguette. There were about two dozen clams or so. The clams were too small, however. The sauce was appetizing and mostly made up for it. Will I go back? Probably.

The food is good I guess. The wagyu taco had a nice flavor and the greens with the sauce made it work. I don't think it's actually wagyu, but the word is pretty much meaningless at this point. For the crust, I found it to be way too chewy rather than light and flaky. I couldn't even cut it with my spoon anymore and had to pick up a long thing of crust and pull it apart with my teeth. I will allow that the gravy and other contents are bland and generic since if it had as much flavor as I actually want, other customers will be complaining about it. But the crust I cannot forgive. Overall it was not bad though. Surprisingly, my favorite item was the brussels sprouts. Even with all the seasoning and cheese, I found the flavor to be well balanced. Even after most of the plate, I noticed I didn't find it too salty. I really like the menus in the crappy brown folders. It's an order at the counter with a small seating area inside and a nice patio outdoors. Purchase & provided a number. Most people here order the classic lobster roll as did I. That said, you can also customize your roll, plus they offer shrimp and crab choices too! Not to long of a wait, but keep in mind ALL orders are made "fresh to order", so if they're busy it can take a little longer. Presentation was nice and sandwiches are served with a slice of fresh lemon that brightens the taste. The highlight was the decadent butter fried roll. It was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can taste the butter in each bite. They provide fresh cold water that you can serve yourself which was welcome with the warm weather. Additionally, they have soda and lemonade. It could be considered a bit pricey, but everything I was eating on my San Diego trip near the beach is. Service was friendly and they brought my meal to my table which was nice. Would definitely go again. Note-There are two other locations in the San Diego area. If you have to use the restroom there is not one inside their establishment, it's a few buildings down and they will provide you a key and directions.

Because Yelp reviewers have so much credibility, right? The unique location makes the building a stretched triangle and gives it a certain vibe. I ordered 3 things and was extremely surprised by all 3. First, I had a spicy salmon sophia bowl. I had no clue what a "sophia" bowl is, and after a brief search, it appears that Google has no clue what a "sophia" bowl is either. I'm very curious as to how this place landed on the name "sophia" bowl. I assume this used to be or came from the "crispy rice (6 pieces)" on a previous version of their menu. If so, I guess this is better. It's just a salmon donburi, but I think it's rather different than what Americans would expect from a "poke" bowl in San Diego nowadays. There's not a ton of other ingredients, and while there's sauces that enhance the taste, it really just focuses on the interaction between the salmon, rice, and crispy rice. Ironically, this style of salmon rice bowl is more Japanese than your typical San Diego poke bowl, which is more of a Hawaii staple. I loved it and thought the texture and umami came together really well. Next, I had a few takoyaki. The plating for this is not very convincing. There's no bonito flakes and pretty light on the green onion also. There's plenty of mayo I suppose. The takoyaki themselves though, are fantastic. These are big, crisp, and hot, although still not as hot as I like. The texture is really on point. For as big as they are, maybe they could've put slightly more tako in it. Oh, also no pickled ginger, but I realize I forgot to check if there were any on the bar. Finally, I had a miso ramen, which was also interesting. Was it the best ramen in town? Definitely not. Was it at least amazing? Also no. However, it was.....really properly Japanese in a way that's hard to explain. Like, this is the ramen a Japanese chef would make if they had to make a cheap bowl of ramen with almost no resources. LOL Like, it has a lot of noodle. An average American would simply complain that it's too much noodle, but I would argue this is the correct ratio in traditional East Asian cuisine. We have a concept called 主食 shushoku or zhu shi in Mandarin. For ramen, the "staple food" is the noodles themselves, which should be the focus. In Japan, it is normal for ramen joints to have a noodle refill option, and that will be one of the most common requests from customers. The noodles themselves are some pretty cheap stuff though. On top of that, it has a bit of seaweed, green onion, and bean sprouts, which are all ubiquitous ramen toppings. The toppings it's missing are stuff like corn, mushrooms, kamaboko, etc., which while present in ramen, aren't always present and/or are more common in American-Japanese ramen. The pork belly is small, but the texture and appearance are both very standard. Also important, the broth is surprisingly soothing. Some ramen made by people that don't know what they're doing make a broth with a thin consistency that give them away. Well, a lot of times, there's just not much emulsified, which makes it more flavored water than an actual broth. While this broth isn't super intense or complicated, it has a well-measured saltiness and consistency that reminds me of average ramen shops in Japan. For that, I love this broth; I could drink it every day. For the record, I am far more likely to come back here again than Saiko Sushi at least, even if just to ask y'all a bunch of food weeb questions.
