One of my friends recommended I try this place because I had been looking for a good BBQ spot in SD which is hard to find btw. And I am a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur. So I came here on a Sunday. Let me start by saying I loved the vibe and the customer service was superb. The cashier was really nice and people were constantly checking on us while we sat and ate. I'm from LA and this place was giving backyard BBQ with unc and auntie and them. lol. There is a cigar lounge type vibe to the very back serving up cocktails and playing sports on the big screen if that's your vibe. They also had some RnB playing as well. Now for the food. They are not stingy with the portions at all. I ordered rib tips, a hot link, and brisket with cornbread, potato salad and Mac n cheese. The rib tips were not as tender as I would've like them to be, however the flavor was good and their bbq sauce was phenomenal. The brisket was SUPER tender but could use more flavor. The Mac n cheese was too salty for me and my friend that came with me. However, the person who recommended the spot said the Mac n cheese was fire so maybe it was an off day which happens. The potato salad though (which they only have Fri-Sun) was out of this world and so was the cornbread. Oh AND they have kool-aid ! I did not get any but I'm sure it was fire. The Tri-Tip was sooooo good, but a bit try for my own personal standards. The brisket was soft, flavorful, and smokey. Service was friendly and our food was ready in about 15 minutes. We ordered the Sampler Platter which comes with your choice of 3 meats and 2 sides. We opted for the brisket, rib tips, and the rack of ribs. For sides we got the mac and cheese plus the coleslaw. And for additional sides, we also got the cornbread and peach cobbler. For ~$45, the sampler platter was a good deal and had enough food for 3-4 people. The standout was definitely the ribs. It was very tender and soft. And I loved the bbq sauce they add onto all their cuts of meat. The rib tips were really great as well, although some of the pieces were hit or miss (some tender, some more dry). And the brisket was also pretty good. One of the cuts they gave us was really thick (not sure if they forgot to slice it thinner) and so other than piece, it had a good texture. I went to try Bowlegged BBQ the day after I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, and it was delicious! Everything was so tender and easy to eat, which was what I was hoping for lol. Their menu was a little overwhelming at first glance as someone who does not eat BBQ often, but the staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining how to order. The sampler plate came with 3 choices of meat and 2 sides. The collared greens were so well seasoned, and the corn bread was light and moist. My favorite was the brisket. We split the sampler plate with sides which we decided on rib tips, ribs, brisket, coleslaw, and mac with the addition of cornbread and peach cobbler. We feasted. The meats were saucy. I liked how everything was together in the box and soaking in the sauce. The ribs and rib tips were pretty moist for most of it. The brisket was mostly moist but there was a thick piece in there that was just a little dry. With all the sauce you could drown it and it was fine. I'm not a coleslaw girlie but my partner liked it. The Mac n cheese was very unique. It was tangy. I dont know how to describe it but it was good good. The cornbread was so good too! Not sweet, just right. The brisket was juicy and fatty and tender, whereas the tri tip and chicken were both a bit dry. The bbq sauce that smothered the meat was flavorful and rich. Came here with a work group and the food and service were both trash. Let's start on the service. First of all, why is a sit-down (not to go) order being served in plastic take-out containers? Then the young lady with the braids (who doubles as the cashier and I guess the server) just brought all 10 people's orders and just stacked the containers in the middle of the table. Didn't bother to pass them out to to the person that ordered them. Then to top it off (and I know this isn't a high-end restaurant) she was dressed like she was going to hang out at her homegirl's house. Just unprofessional. Now let's get to the food. I've been coming here since they opened, and while although I don't come frequently, I come enough to know the prices have went up while the food has gone down. The BBQ beans were sweet but had no other flavor other than brown sugar. The brisket topped hot link had no grilled meat flavor like BBQ is supposed to have and to pay $16 for one hot link with a few pieces of brisket sprinkled on top is diabolical. Then to top it off NONE the meat tasted like it was fresh off the grill and now that I think about it, there wasn't even a smoker smell present although I saw a big one outside on the patio.
