This is one of those places that's always busy. Be prepared to wait anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, so getting on the waitlist early is key. Once you're seated though, service is quick and attentive. The big draw here is the charcoal grill, which gives the meat a distinct smoky, charred flavor that sets it apart from your typical gas-grill kbbq. Meat quality is solid across the board and the variety is great, especially on the deluxe menu, which is definitely worth the upgrade for cuts like prime steak, marinated beef, and black pepper finger meat. Overall, Fire Spot is a great spot if you're in the mood for kbbq with that charcoal flavor. Go for the Deluxe option and don't forget the corn cheese!

Dear diary I was always hearing good things about this place and decided to finally go. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. But you have to go at least an hour or two earlier to get on the waitlist because they are busyyy. Parking is also very limited so you might have to park on the street. The restaurant is definitely on the smaller side but the ventilation is great and the place is clean. The vibe is lively and upbeat with music playing in the background. We selected the deluxe plan and it is more food than we can ever finish. The meat was great quality and the side dishes were awesome. Their sauce is also on another level compared to other places. Even though it was busy, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. They were also really helpful when we have questions. I would recommend trying this place but make sure to arrive early to get your spot on the waitlist!

I've been meaning to try this place for a while now and I finally went for Sunday night dinner. Checked in at the restaurant and there was an hour and a half wait time. We knew this spot gets pretty busy so after we checked in we went for drinks around the area to pass the time. Plenty of options within walking distance if you wanna pre game before you eat. Our server Aaron took very good care of me and my date. Very patient and attentive and always making sure we were ok. He knew it was our first time so he gave us a few recommendations for meats we should try. The black pepper finger meat and the marinated hand cut beef were our favorite cuts. Very tender and juicy - probably the best meat quality of meat I've had at an all you can eat place. The charcoal grill in my opinion is a game changer. It gets that smokey flavor on the meat without having a greasy mess like other kbbq spots. The wait may be a bit long but I promise it's worth the wait.

I completely understand why this place has a notoriously long wait. This was an amazing BBQ experience, maybe one of the best in Convoy! Quality, taste, flavor, unique charcoal grill -- this place has it all. We arrived at 4:45 on a Saturday and signed onto the waitlist. They use a Yelp waitlist but you are not able to join remotely, only in person. Thankfully we got a parking spot right away and waited in our car for about an hour before we got a text that we were at the top of the waitlist. Definitely arrive an hour before you plan on eating, and maybe longer during the dinner rush. The place is very small! But I can tell the service is efficient because the servers are very fast paced. Once seated, we got our sides and dipping sauces. The dips of sesame oil & salt, garlic sauce, and spicy powder complemented the meat really well. I loved the sides, they were exceptional. The kimchi and bean sprout salad was our favorites! Note that you have to get the servers' attention to order. Again, they are very fast paced so they won't really wait on you. So it's best to call them over once you know what you want! The only time they came to us was for our last call since we hit the 1.5 hour limit. We got the Deluxe Menu, which I think is well worth the extra few dollars. Their charcoal grill is really unique, cooking the meat by flame. It gets HOT. Especially with fattier cuts, it will smoke up a lot. Servers come by with ice cubes to cool down your grill if it gets too hot and smokey. Their exhaust fans are really helpful and adjustable by height. The meat portions are huge, you can order 4 meats per round. At KBBQ, we usually eat multiple rounds but here we got stuffed after 2 rounds. I wish I could have tried more sides but I got super full from meat (which is good for AYCE BBQ :)). Meat & Sides Ordered: - Prime Cut Steak (Deluxe) - 1 per person. MY FAVORITE ITEM. SO tender and flavorful - Prime Rib Eye (Deluxe) - limit 1 order. Delicious as well, just pretty fatty and filling - Prime Beef Tongue (Deluxe) - super tender and came with a lot of very thin slices - Beef Skirt Steak (Deluxe) - a bit leaner but not my favorite due to the fat on the edges - Black Pepper Finger Meat - seasoned rib cuts, pretty fatty - Marinated Lamb - I probably would not get again, it has a strong lamb taste - Cold Noodle (Deluxe) - my favorite side. Cold, sweet, refreshing bowl of noodles with beef slices, egg, kimchi, and veggies. - Seafood Tofu Stew (Deluxe) - another great side, with mussels, egg, shrimp. good seafood flavor.

Service was amazing! Food portion sizes are big and meat quality was amazing! I love the charcoal grill! It made a difference in the taste! Come early because they get very busy!

I've been eyeing this place for so long and can't believe I waited this long to try. It's in a super busy plaza and parking is nonexistent in this plaza unless you get lucky. I came at opening on a Monday. There was already a long line and long waitlist ahead of me. I got there at 4:30pm at opening and I was 18th in line by the time I signed up for the waitlist. We waited for the 2nd round which the host advised everyone would be another 1.5 hours until 1st round of customers finished. Understandable. We left to go kill time elsewhere. I did get a text about 1 hour later that my table was ready. We were excited to try being that it was charcoal and our 1st time instead of usual propane. We really enjoyed the experience and there was no grease splatter nor did we feel too full because of all the fat drippings. It's a small place with a good amount of tables so getting multiple rounds or the servers' attention can be a bit of a challenge but once you flag them down they don't miss a thing. We got the original menu and everything was good. We enjoyed trying all the sauces and even requested the dry sauces. Some of the dry dips made the meats really salty so the meats were good on its own. Overall I'd say we had a really good 1st time experience and really enjoyed the charcoal taste. Now... would I come back again and wait that long? The waitlist can seem a bit overwhelming and I noticed it turned a lot of people away. I don't know.. possibly lol but I wouldn't wait on a hangry day.

One of the best KBBQ places I've had! For $37.99 per person for the regular menu, the price did increase from what I remember but this is still reasonable. The marinated meats and seasonings are really delicious and flavorful. I think this place may be fusion with Chinese(?), not sure but the sides are definitely unique. Beansprouts are really good and haven't had them at other kbbq. Servers do their best to get you your orders and it seems like this place is always busy. Go early and get on the waitlist!! Also like how it's a charcoal grill, the meats cook faster and no splashing oil. The large vents make the place less smoky too. Great food!

Next time I come in they're going to have to call the NATIONAL GUARD to get me out my seat. All you can eat $41 sumn dollars is a steal for this place. The prime cut steak, beef short rib, and prime ribeye was absolutely TANTALIZING. The service is spot on and the place smells like if heaven hosted a BBQ. Get in here before 1pm to be the line! My favorite bbq place - such a long wait most days but worth the wait if you plan your day accordingly. Service is always great and the restaurant is always packed with hungry people like ourselves. Food is always fresh and delicious. I love the marinated meats and the wire grill to add the extra char. The ambiance is clean and fast paced. People come in; eat and leave right after. They typically are courteous with their dining time out of respect for people still waiting.

Oh my gosh, favorite KBBQ in San Diego. There is most likely always a wait however, definitely worth it. They use coal for their grill and offer a ton of options on their menu. Their servers are speedy and always ensure you have enough meat and drinks in front of you! My favorite items were spicy beef soup, corn cheese, shrimp, prime rib steak, beef skirt steak, brisket, garlic rib finger. All included for $38.99 per person.

The Menu/Grill
Lance L.

The menu has a solid selection of meats and seafood, and everything we tried was delicious. The highlights were the 5-Spiced Marinated Lamb, Marinated Pork Belly, Sweet Spicy Cajun Chicken, and the Cumin Squid, which had a uniquely Chinese-style flavor. Cooking everything over their Chinese-style charcoal grill gave the meats a unique smoky char that really set this place apart from typical KBBQ spots. The sides and appetizers (rice paper, steamed egg, beef soup, and house salad) were similar to what you'd find at most Korean BBQ restaurants, but the Boiled Whole Peanuts were a pleasant surprise. They were perfectly boiled with a great texture and made for a nice snack while grilling or waiting. As for sauces, I highly recommend trying their House Garlic Sauce, Sea Salt Sesame Oil, and House Spicy Powder. All three paired really well with the meats and added another layer of flavor. One thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant is small, so I recommend arriving early, as it can get crowded quickly. My group ended up waiting about 1.5 hours for a table. Despite the wait, the food was excellent, and the staff was very accommodating, attentive, and professional throughout the entire experience. Overall, this spot is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something a little different from the typical KBBQ experience.

It was our first time here a couple weeks ago and the food was good. We enjoyed that it cooked a little faster the normal kbbq style. It was a fun experience cooking over coal but I prefer the original way. The service was ok, it was incredibly busy so I understand. The ambiance is a small mom n pop restaurant. Definitely busy so make sure you put your name on the list as soon as you arrive. Overall, we wish there was more options for meat like beef belly and bulgogi. Must try at least once though!

Do they have a Non-AYCE Option? Also do these still offer Skewers?

I'm hosting my friend's birthday dinner here and was wondering if they could personally store a cake in the back until we leave the restaurant. We'll be eating the cake outside but do you think they'll be able to do that?

Hi, Samee . For sure we can storage your cake in our refrigerator , we can also provide party plate for you if you decide to eat the cake at our place, thank you

Hi, how much is the price for 4 year old? Thanks

They charge by height not age.

I have a niece who has allergies, what is in that red pepper dipping powder?

How much is it for a kid?

We paid $14.99 for kids (ages 6 and 9) on 3/10/2024

Does anyone know if they will be open for Thanksgiving?

Just called , they open on thanksgiving

Any idea if they will be opening next week?

I really hope so. I've been waiting for this like Christmas is coming. I'm going to drive by tomorrow and see. I'll update you.

Anyone know what happened to Fire Spot? We came on Saturday night and it was closed.

Supposedly there was a fire. I hope they re-open soon.

Do they take reservation for a party if 6?

Do they have vegan options?

Outside of the veggie condiments that they give such as the banchan, kim chi, lettuce or radish, I can't think of anything that you could actually throw onto the BBQ itself.

When reopen for dine in or out? Thanks.

They just re-opened for indoor dining a couple of days ago. Great as usual.

Does the Fire Spot have a reopening date set yet? Love this restaurant!

What days and time do you open now? It's been really frustrating to see Yelp saying you are open, but when we went or planned to go, it is not open!

What time do they open?

They open at Noon (12)

My wife just has the gastric bypass and was wondering if we can share we have the bipass card?

You could always order the all you can eat, and she can order a plate for herself. That's what I do when my kids come since they don't eat much.

Is there kid AYCE price? If so for under what age?

For kids 6-12, deluxe plan is 11.99 and original plan is 9.99. Under 6 is free.

Do we need to come as a group or individuals are also welcomed?

You can do either. There are no restrictions.

Is it true they don't have rice paper?

they do have rice paper, you just have to order it.

Where are the meat stored? Is this served from a fridge or are the meat stored on a buffet cart? Pick your own?

You select the meats off a menu and they bring them from a fridge in the back.

This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. The courteous waitress guided us to our table and brought the menu and water right away. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes: West Lake Minced Beef Soup: The portion was large enough for 6 people. The lightly starched broth was nicely seasoned with hint of white pepper. In the soup, there were bits of minced beef, chopped green onion, and stirred egg whites. The simplistic soup was warm, velvety, and pleasantly flavored. 3 Item BBQ Combo (House Special Chicken, Roasted Duck, and Pork Belly): The house special chicken was nicely steamed, lightly seasoned, and with beautiful gelatinous skin. The roasted duck pieces were plump, with crispy skin and succulent meat. The pork belly had crispy thick skin, and tender meat with nice rendered fat without being overly greasy. Walnut Shrimp: The portion was quite generous for the price. The lightly battered shrimps had a nice firm texture and were covered with mayonnaise and sprinkled with sweetened and crispy walnuts. What a beautiful blend of taste and aroma. Left the restaurant heart-warmed and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended.

I was born and raised in LA, so I've had a lot of Chinese food growing up, and I wasn't expecting to be this surprised--but I really was. I ordered the black bean eggplant and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The wings are what they're known for, but I have to start with the eggplant because it completely caught me off guard. It wasn't mushy at all--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and coated in sauce without losing its texture. Every bite had depth and balance, not just saltiness. I actually meant to start with the wings, but the eggplant was so good I ended up eating half of it before even getting to them. By that point I was already getting full, but I still made sure to finish the wings--and I'm honestly excited to take the rest of the eggplant home as leftovers. By the time I got to the wings, I understood why they're popular--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying--but what stood out to me was how both dishes complemented each other. One rich and layered, the other crisp and bright. I never got tired of eating, which honestly says a lot. I even told the staff how much I enjoyed the food and they thought I was joking, but I meant every word in saying I thought it was comparable, if not better then the food I've had in Chinatown in LA. Really glad I came here and the next time I have a chance to come back down to SD I definitely will come back here and that's not negotiable for me

To add insult to injury it was BURNED so badly that all you could smell was burnt dough and taste burned dough. Hardly any sauce on it as well. The Shrimp Fried Rice should have just been plain white rice for how bland it was. The Vegetable Chow Mein literally was just a container of salt. Slim noodles and salt, disgusting! There is a cold section that had salad and cold dishes. Noodles were good, warm, and my kid liked the thick noodles. U get one entree per person if u do all u can eat. Got the walnut shrimp, fried rice, tofu, and French beef. The shrimp was cooked or warm but the walnuts were cold? Not even heated up with the shrimp? Beef was tender and had some flavor. Would I come back here probably not or if I did, go here when it's busy so maybe the food would be warmer. Budget not bad just around $100 for 4 but I guess u pay for what u get. Probably better to go to one of those asian buffets on Miramar road. I hope they improve and get better food warmers. Service was decent, 2 waiters and friendly. I don't like giving out bad reviews. So just don't expect to be wowed maybe try the other Asian buffet down the street (sunny/sunrise?) or look at the buffet before getting seated so you know what to expect if u change your mind. Good luck!

Yes, there's a wait just like at any spot that's actually worth it. The place is small, so come…read morewith a little patience or just order to go if you're in a rush. We tried a few dishes. The green onion pancake was crispy and golden on the outside with flaky, layered bites. The sweet corn with chili dumplings had that perfect balance- slightly sweet, a little heat, and super juicy filling. The green pepper with corn dumplings had a light crunch and savory flavor. The standout for me was the Beijing zhajiang noodles. That was probably my favorite. Noodles were perfection. The owner was kind. You can tell it's a family-run spot, especially with the sweetest little girl helping out, which made the whole experience feel even more genuine and homey. We were seated in about 20 minutes, which honestly isn't bad at all. Free parking lot. Will be back soon.

Came for Mother's Day. It's in a nice little shopping center. There's a good amount of parking, but…read morethe restaurant itself is quite small. So there is a line that lines up quickly and hopefully hopefully you get a seat. I don't think the biggest table can be more than four people. There's also a kiosk where you can order to go. The menu is very simple. I feel like the dumplings are actually a great price for how many pieces you get. Service was fine. The food was good but nothing solid out to us, I could taste the freshness in the dumplings but maybe because they're boiled, they were a bit bland to us. Definitely needed the sauce with it. Maybe we will be back to try something different. Overall 3/5 for the dishes we ordered that evening
